Droid X Ringer/Vibrate Problem....

My Droid X only vibrates when calls come in now... Can't turn it to silent or have a normal ring... I have tried to manual adjust on the side of the phone, use the menu option to adjust the ringer, and the lock screen when you first initiate the phone... no luck!  Has anyone had a similar problem?  Please help... frustrated...

I would perform a hard reset. Performing a hard reset will remove ALL data including the Google account, system data, application data, application settings, and downloaded applications. To perform a hard reset follow the directions below:
From the home screen click the applications tab
Touch settings
Touch privacy
Touch Factory Data reset
Touch reset phone (If presented, enter the current passcode or draw the unlock pattern.)
Touch erase everything
Hope this helps!

  • Ring-vibrate options

Just got a new Tour for work and the ring and vibrate options have taken a big step backwards from the other five BB I have had. Gone are the options for an increasing ringtone and the vibrate then continual ring. I miss too many calls with the vibrate -one ring-vibrate-one ring option. Any plans to change this back? The current options are the same as a cheap cell phone and are not suitable for business people

Try downloading "Droid Vol Rocker" from the Android Market.  It seems to solve this problem for me.  It alternates between silent and vibrate mode everytime you move the volume all the way down.
    For Example
    1.  Phone is in Ring mode
    2.  Volume Down Pushed All The Way To The Bottom the Phone goes to silent
    3.  Push Vol Up One Time
    4.  Push Vol Down One Time and the phone goes to vibrate.  They just continue to alternate.
There is a good youtube video search for "Droid Vol Rocker" and you'll find it.
    Hope this helps.

Did you already try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting.
If this does not work, set it up as new device: Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings - Apple Support
If still no luck, get it checked by an Authorized Apple Service Provider or Apple:

  • X6, ringing tone problem

I have set a ringing tone, and it seems that my phone has 2 ringing tone memory. It picks one of the ringing tones(The default nokia tone, and the one I set) automatically and randomly when someone calls me.
When my phone is set to silent(no ringing tone is selected, vibrate is on), when the default tone is randomly picked, it RINGS. In other words, when no ringing tone is selected, sometimes it vibrates and ring+vibrate on the other time.
Any idea how to solve this?

I have similar issue. What I also found out, that if I add a picture to contact, it always will play default nokia tune, not selected one. Really hate this

  • Droid 2 Global screen problems, vibrate problems, basically just a lot of problems?

So, I've had my Droid 2 Global (Gingerbread 2.3.4) for about a year and a half, and ever since I got it I've had problems with the touchscreen. I have not rooted or customized the phone in any way, nor have I ever damaged the phone or gotten it wet.
Windows will open by themselves, the music player and maps constantly open by themselves and drain the battery, any time I'm trying to send a text the keyboard goes haywire and will send "wttttttyuuuuttt" and nonsense like that to anyone on my 'recently texted' list. It takes about 10 minutes to send a simple text because the screen won't stop shaking and displaying random letters. It's not just when I'm touching it either. I've had it call random numbers and vibrate for no reason when I'm asleep and it's on my bedside table.
I took this phone to the verizon store when I first got it, they "fixed" it, but an hour later it was back to being glitchy. I took it back, they told me to do a hard reset, it didn't help at all. I tried restarting the phone in safe mode several times (the most recent time being this morning) but the screen shaking and random apps opening issues are even worse in safe mode than in regular mode.
I was wondering if anyone else had these kind of problems, and if so, how would I go about fixing them? Honestly I'm planning on getting rid of this phone in a few weeks but if there's anything I've overlooked I want to check it out.

Hello hammerofasgard! Love the handle, by the way. I'm a Thor fan, too!!
Sounds like you've been having some very frustrating and inconvenient issues with your Droid 2 Global. I have one that I still use but have never seen the behaviors you've described (except for the battery drain, but that's something that was easily managed by just keeping a charger handy). You mentioned having taken the D2G to one of our retail locations for assistance, and that the device reverted to it's previous behavior an hour later.
I'm curious to know if the reps on our store performed a master reset (taking the device back to factory settings). If they did, did you have any of the same apps or settings restored to the device during that hour?

  • Ring tone problems

    Hi
I am having problems when I set my phone to loud and go to set ring tones, email tones etc. The tones change but the sound is the same as it originally was! No changes even though it says it has. It also won't give me a 'test sound' when highlighting the new ring tone or when i select it and press 'try it' it just vibrates and no sound!
This is one of many problems I have had an unfortunatly no help from the service provider. If I hear 'can I help you with anything else' once more when they haven't helped me with my original problem I will scream!
    Many thanks,
    Ratta

  • Droid Razr M Sound Problems

I got my Droid Razr M a  couple months back.  After the Jelly Bean update I notice that I do not get sound when I am calling/talking over the phone.  No ringing, no audio, nothing.  However, people on the other end of the line can hear me.  I then tried to play a random Youtube video to see if that played sound, and nothing.  I tried plugging in head phones and that worked.  Did the same thing with calling, head phones worked but the phone ear piece gave no audio.  Having the call on speaker works as well though.
So basically I have no audio from calls, games, movies, songs from the phones speakers but I get it through the head phones.  I factory reset, removed the sd card and cleared it, and it still gives me this problem.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

        Hello Xcdhrider
The issues you described would be very frustrating! That's not a known issue that I've encountered after the update. I'm sure we can work together and get this addressed!
Was the device exposed to any physical or liquid damage? After the factory reset did any 3rd party applications redownload on the device? Please power the device in safe mode and retest. Here's how: http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=63868&sayt=safe mode *
Please let me know if the issue persists.

  • Tri-Tone Vibrate problems

When my phone is set to the Tri-Tone text message ring tone vibrate does not work when i receive text messages, however when i change it to any other text ringtone the phone vibrates. anyone else having this problem? Its not that big of a deal, but unfortunately all the other text ringtones are quite annoying.

I'm having the same problem, although I DO have tri-tone alert for my message sound, but it keeps going off even when I get no texts and this just started early this morning around 3am or so. I don't know how to fix it either but it can't be glitching cus it's old because I got this phone a month ago.

  • Profiles - Custom Vibration Problems.

Ok, so I have been testing different options for my profiles.  On my previous phone (Curve 8330 - Sprint) I was able to set specific vibrations and ringtones based on in holster and out of hoster.  Now that I have my Tour, at first glance the Profiles seem to be much more customizable, which I LOVE.
So what I first found was in setting my notifications for SMS, Email, BB Messenger, etc to sound when out of holster, but ONLY vibrate in holster was that i was still getting sounds for notifications. No matter where my blackberry is, in the case or out of the case I always get the sounds for my notifications.  I posted a similar question to another forum (Post at Crackberry.com) and found that if I do not customize my notification Vibrations (ie:  Custom, Short, 2... etc..) that it works properly.  Once I customize my vibrations it apparantly goes back to sending a notification sound even when in holster.  As you can see from my image below, I have set the vibration to "In Only", however that does not work when the vibrations have been customized.
I attempted to setup a custom profile which introduced a new problem. When I go into my custom profile and choose Messages -> Email, I don't have the option of "Sound in Holster".  and I get the same results as above.
Has anyone else had this issue, and how did you get around it? I am in and out of meetings all day and really need to be able to suppress my notifications sounds.
Is there a fix for this?  Why don't I have the option in customized profiles for "Sound in Holster"?

    Well I had typed out this nice, long reply but the server crashed and I lost it. So here goes again;
I spoke with a high level RIM tech and he said this issue should be resolved when the new OS is released for the Tour. He said the engineers are well aware of the problems with the ring profiles on the 4.7 OS of the Tour and the new OS would go back to the older style, like what's on the Curve. This is exactly what he told me. He said it could be a while though, since once the OS is released to the wireless carriers, it has to be tested and sent back and forth until it's approved and released to us.
The lower levels of Verizon support have no clue about BlackBerries (not sure about other carriers) and the lower levels of RIM support are just as bad.
At least the high level RIM tech I spoke with kept putting me on hold as I asked questions and was asking someone else (I am assuming a higher level tech or engineer) to get the answers. The higher level Verizon support is pretty good too, but they are at the mercy of RIM just like us.

  • Iphone 3GS not ringing/vibrating when called.

    Hello,
When I call my Iphone 3GS with another phone (while in sleep mode) , the Iphone does not ring nor vibrates.
However, when I push the home button while the call is comming in, the Iphone awakens and starts ringing and vibrating.
If the home button is not pressed the Iphone remains completely silent.
When I restart the Iphone it works perfectly for a few times and then shows the same problematic behaviour again.
I've updated the OS to the latest version, restored the Iphone a few times, nothing helps.
I found someone with the same problem saying that it is a battery related problem, so I've changed the battery and it didn't solve the problem.
The problem also persists after changing to a different opperator. (I didn't switch operators to solve this problem, it had other reasons, but does excludes it as a possible solution)
To me it seems like a software problem. Anyone any ideas on how to fix this?
    Thanks
    Jonathan

  • Droid 4 Hard Reset Problem

I updated my phones software and it began to act super buggy so I tried to do a factory reset. That was around 1500 this afternoon. Four hour later it still has the same screen of the little android dude with the spinning polyhedron thingy. I have tried soft resetting it with the power button and volume key as well as restart the hard factory reset by using those same keys.
I am not sure if the amount of time this is taking is normal or if I have done something super wrong. Can anyone help me?
    Thanks, Raine M.

The problem sir is in the upgrade.  You don't receive this many complaints without there being a problem with the upgrade and possibly the phones - not the people owning the phones.  I too just upgraded to 4.3.3 (assumed "upgrade" meant "better") and now I have NO ringtone period.  In other words my phone doesn't ring - just vibrates.  If the upgrade worked properly then there would be no need to "reset on itunes"...you shouldn't have to.  It seems a little obtuse to upgrade and then have to reset because the upgrade is "faulty/defective/bugged" (REAL LIFE terms).  I had heard the horror stories of all the problems with 4.3.3 but I (dummy that I am) did it anyway.  Really is a pain to have a phone that doesn't ring...kind-of defeates the purpose of having a phone now doesn't it?  My phone was never jailbroke either as you suggested with "make-it-better-not-worse".  The "upgrade" took forever, and now it is going to take another 30 plus minutes to fix something that should have worked the first time.
Do better Apple, you are making me sorry I choose to leave Rim and my Blackberry!

  • Droid Incredible 2 speaker problems

On My Droid Incredible 2 My Speaker still makes a cracking sound problem when I play music and when the phone rings. Does any one have this problem to

Bigmpowerstroke, I can understand that would make it very difficult to use the speakerphone or listen to music on your Incredible 2. I have not seen this as a known issue on the Incredible 2. It sounds like a hardware issue and the device may need to be replaced. I would suggest restarting the phone and adjusting the volume first. If it still seems to have a crackling sound on every song or ringtone, please send me a PM with your name & number so we can look at replacement options.

  • Xperia Z Phone Continuous Vibration Problem - A Pain in the Neck

I just wanna know something.. I bought the Xperia Z in March'2013 and I just love, love, love it. However, it started to act weird, maybe two weeks back, when all of a sudden it started to vibrate, (maybe for 3 or 4 hours non stop) and factory settings reset did not help at all. So, had to update the phone software AGAIN using Sony Companion which was pretty frustrating. After losing all my data (since I had forgotten to keep a back up), I was finally able to fix it (which now seems was temporary). The phone has started acting all weird again, it has started vibrating again and I tell you its very annoying after having burned a hole in my pocket just to buy it. So, how many times, just how many times will this be a pain in all the wrong places possible?
Another thing is that, the battery literally gets heated up, if I have the internet (2G/3G) on or even the Wi-Fi or if I'm listening to music and it becomes really hot. The battery really drains out super fast and I have to charge it yet again. So, now I want to know what would be the best possible solution because I need one, and I need it fast. The phone is still under the warranty period so I am thinking of having it replaced 'cause I can't (Read: Simply CANNOT) afford to have this phone giving me problems over and over again.
So help! I want this FIXED and want it FIXED Asap!

  • Don't they know about vibration problems?

    Hi,
I got a macbook, it is 3 days old, and it vibrates every time I use it. I have to place a business card under it to dampen the vibration so that I can work comfortably.
I called the Apple Support and the specialist said he had never heard about this kind of problem and that I would have to pay around 10-15% of the computer value if I wanted to return it and get a new one! I really like Apple and their products. I buy a lot from the Apple Store. I was a bit sad about that. The computer is only 3 days old... I guess I will have to keep using it with the business card under it...
What surprised me the most was the fact that he said he had never heard of such a problem. I asked him to take a look at the discussion forum and he would see many similar examples.
    Well...

Let the tech people at your Apple store check out the computer. Some vibration from hard drives is quite normal, and some manufacturers' drives vibrate more than others. However, it's possible that the drive in your computer is missing a dampener in the drive mounting. It's also possible that the vibration is normal.
If you have someone actually check it out along side another MacBook perhaps it will help you determine if you really have a problem.
The hard drives in MacBooks are DIY replacement items. It's fairly easy to check if the drive has been properly installed.
It's also possible it's not the drive at all, but the fans.

  • I7 MBP and 7200 Hard Drive Vibration Problems

I went for the 7200 rpm drive on my new i7 MBP. The first drive was a Hitachi I believe and made a weird revving up sound--one I've heard before on cheap laptops. Apple replaced the drive yesterday with a Seagate ST9500420ASG . This drive doesn't have the revving up issue, but the thing gives off significant vibration. It feels alive under your wrists for sure. What should I do? I'm not sure I can live with this vibration. Should I put the problem back to Apple and see if they can find a drive that isn't going to vibrate or should I not bother with the 7200 drive at all and go to the 5400?

Well, have a look here: "Beware of the Momentus 7200.4 ST9500420ASG" (http://forums.seagate.com/t5/Barracuda-XT-Barracuda-and/Beware-of-the-Momentus-7 200-4-ST9500420ASG/m-p/31340), which includes a link to "Apple Portables: Advanced tips for Sudden Motion Sensor" (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1934?viewlocale=en_US).
If you don't wan to feel alone in the issue, you can also find various rants about the Seagate ST9500420ASG on MBPs with a simple google search.

First see if you can determine if the Sudden Motion Sensor issue is what is actually causing the vibration and if so, does a fix work and is that fix acceptable to you.
If not, then with more knowledge of what likely causes the problem, you can put the issue back to Apple.
