Profiles - Custom Vibration Problems.

Ok, so I have been testing different options for my profiles.  On my previous phone (Curve 8330 - Sprint) I was able to set specific vibrations and ringtones based on in holster and out of hoster.  Now that I have my Tour, at first glance the Profiles seem to be much more customizable, which I LOVE.
So what I first found was in setting my notifications for SMS, Email, BB Messenger, etc to sound when out of holster, but ONLY vibrate in holster was that i was still getting sounds for notifications. No matter where my blackberry is, in the case or out of the case I always get the sounds for my notifications.  I posted a similar question to another forum (Post at Crackberry.com) and found that if I do not customize my notification Vibrations (ie:  Custom, Short, 2... etc..) that it works properly.  Once I customize my vibrations it apparantly goes back to sending a notification sound even when in holster.  As you can see from my image below, I have set the vibration to "In Only", however that does not work when the vibrations have been customized. 
I attempted to setup a custom profile which introduced a new problem. When I go into my custom profile and choose Messages -> Email, I don't have the option of "Sound in Holster".  and I get the same results as above.
Has anyone else had this issue, and how did you get around it? I am in and out of meetings all day and really need to be able to suppress my notifications sounds.
Is there a fix for this?  Why don't I have the option in customized profiles for "Sound in Holster"?

Well I had typed out this nice, long reply but the server crashed and I lost it. So here goes again;
I spoke with a high level RIM tech and he said this issue should be resolved when the new OS is released for the Tour. He said the engineers are well aware of the problems with the ring profiles on the 4.7 OS of the Tour and the new OS would go back to the older style, like what's on the Curve. This is exactly what he told me. He said it could be a while though, since once the OS is released to the wireless carriers, it has to be tested and sent back and forth until it's approved and released to us.
The lower levels of Verizon support have no clue about BlackBerries (not sure about other carriers) and the lower levels of RIM support are just as bad.
At least the high level RIM tech I spoke with kept putting me on hold as I asked questions and was asking someone else (I am assuming a higher level tech or engineer) to get the answers. The higher level Verizon support is pretty good too, but they are at the mercy of RIM just like us.

  • Contact alert custom vibration won't set to "active profile"

    I have one contact that I set to vibrate a certain way for SMS messages (short five) that is different than my regular setting (short 10). When I set the custom vibration under the contact alert, it gives me the "In Holster," "Out of Holster," Always," and "Active Profile" options. It defaults to "in Holster" and I want it set to "Active Profile". That way it vibrates regardless of whether it's in my holster, in my pocket, on my desk, etc. Problem is, I can't save that setting. I select "Active Profile", save the settings, and it defaults back to "in holster." Is this a software glitch or am I missing something? Thanks.

    I reinstalled on my home Mac, "authorized" the song, re-synced the phone, and now works as it should.

  • NOKIA N78 VIBRATING PROBLEM

    Hi...
    I got a problem with my new Nokia N78.
    The vibration alert is not working???
    Change the vibrate alert on also change the profile settings to ON but still no vibrate alert.
    Do I have a faulty phone? or am I doing something wrong?
    Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. ^_^

    Mine had that problem on the very first day (before the update came out) and it did vibrate on startup but not on silent profile with vibration "on".
    But after I had it turned off and back on it started working.
    I always wondered what may have caused that, I haven´t updated until today and the problem hasn´t showed since...

  • Customer Service Problems

    After fighting with Verizon customer service over two service issues without any possibility of resolution I am canceling my account. 
    I’m doing this reluctantly because as a long-term shareholder of Verizon I would like to see the company succeed and keep profitable.  Yet I am appalled by the cavalier, disrespectful, obstructionist treatment from your staff in dealing with customer service problems.  When you were just the telephone company and operated as a monopoly in a regulated industry, you had to take customer issues seriously.   Now that you are an unregulated telecommunications giant it seems that you don’t feel the need to respond to your customers.  Someone in your company needs to hear this and put a stop to these destructive business practices. 
    In brief, the first issue involved arranging a service call for interruption of internet service.  The entire process kept me on the phone for a total of 3 hours over several days.  I have given up my land line and use a cell phone exclusively.  Verizon’s communication systems and staffing levels caused me to wait on hold for 10-15 for each person that I spoke to. Then each conversation averaged 10 minutes.   In addition, I was transferred to different departments but  I did not understand the reason for the transfers.  Then the pattern of hold-talk-transfer began again.  Several times my calls were dropped necessitating more repeats of the hold-talk-transfer pattern.  Some of your staff were South Asian and they either garbled or misunderstood English, thus prolonging the conversation beyond the average of 10 minutes.    During that time I incurred cell phone charges of $.45/ minute.   
    After the service was restored I called Verizon customer service and asked for a service credit to compensate me for those out-of-pocket expenses over and above 30 minutes which I consider to be a reasonable amount of time to arrange a service call.  They denied any responsibility for the amount of time it took to arrange the service call or the amount of time to complain about their service.  I was not happy with the outcome so I requested to speak with someone who was a decision maker and had authority to negotiate a settlement.  I also asked to have them communicate with me through email.  I was told that communicating through email was not possible.  These calls followed the same pattern of hold-talk-transfer averaging 30 minutes each.  I repeated myself to 3 or 4 people who wrote down my complaint before I got to a manager who had decision making authority.  The manager denied any responsibility for the amount of time it took to arrange the service call and would not authorize a service credit.  
    The second issue involved billing.  I signed up for auto-pay to have my monthly bill deducted directly from my bank account.  Verizon’s computer system deducted the bill twice, overdrawing my account.  I incurred a bank overcharge fee.   The same pattern of hold-talk-transfer began for this complaint as well.  The customer service staff refused to take responsibility for this error as well.  Their solution required me to spend more time and incur extra expenses.  I had to repeat myself to 3 or 4 complaint takers before I reached the same manager who denied my first request.  He denied any responsibility for this billing problem too.    I had to have my bank retrieve the money under a fraud compliant.
    Verizon is one of the largest *communications* corporations in the world.  If your internal systems can't handle customer service calls in a reasonable amount of time, then there is a problem.  If your customer service staff is unwilling to take responsibility for such inadequacies and solve the issues that emerge from them, then there is a problem.  If a customer has to contact the CEO of the company to try to resolve two service related issues, then there is a problem.  When all of those actions prove inadequate, then there is a *communications* problem.
    Customer service has flagged my account and put me down as a “problem” customer.  Instead of offering even a token settlement, they are prepared to stonewall me by maintaining that the company is just not at fault and that they tried to solve the problems but I wouldn’t cooperate or accept their solutions.   Early on in the process, if someone told me that Verizon messed up just a little, but still couldn’t compensate me, I would have accepted that, albeit reluctantly, and dropped the matter.
    This is not the way I do business and I resent it when others don’t feel the need to honor any kind of code.  I grew up working in my family’s retail liquor store.  From the time I was a kid I learned four customer service lessons that I’ve carried over into my adult life:
    Admit when you are wrong and try to make up for the mistake.
    Never argue with a customer over small things.
    Listen to the compliant and don’t just dismiss it out-of-hand
    Try to make things right even though you may not be directly responsible for problem.
    For my two problems, Verizon customer service staff didn’t even come close to following these common sense rules.   I’ve learned that if you ask their customer service people they will repeat back to you some type of business code that they say they operate under.  But their behavior tells a different story.
    Unfortunately when I spoke with {edited for privacy} of the Executive Presidential Appeals office, I was taken somewhat aback by his manner and demeanor, which was coarse and inappropriate for a customer service discussion, and which I found personally offensive.  He and members of his staff agreed to send me emails specifying which part of the Terms of Service they based their decisions on.  To date I have not received the communications they promised.
    Is this the image of your company that you want the public to see? Are you willing to just shrug off these complaints as an isolated case that is too small to concern yourself about?  I’m afraid the answer will be yes.  Not only do you feel that you are too big to fail, but you are too big to care.   Customer service means solving problems not manufacturing bad will and resentment.  
    My purpose in writing this note has been twofold: to make one last effort to solve my problem and to hope that someone will take note about the issues about customer service practices that are harmful to the company. I'd be happy to speak with someone with real authority to deal
    with my issues but have no interest in repeating my past experiences.
    It's too bad that this had to happen since the solution could have been so easy and simple.
    I plan to publish some form of this letter and distribute it to the public.

    RE:  Cancellation fee charged on internet DSL service charged by mistake. {edited for privacy}
    A $65 balance remain for a cancellation fee on internet DSL service, by Verizon New York mistake.
    In February of 2010, I set up my phone and TV in a vacation plan but keep my internet service active. After a month I had a vacation plan, suddenly without notification, my internet service was suspended and a cancellation fee was issued.
    My final statement was $ 24.47. I cleared a check from Verizon.
    I contacted Verizon online to request connect my internet service and discuss the issue on the cancellation fee. The response was that I should pay the internet cancellation fee, and paid a new activation.
    After fighting with Verizon customer service over the unacceptable fee charge service issue without any possibility of resolution I cancel my home phone which was in a vacation plan. 
     Later I kept receiving the statement with this cancellation fee every month. I called and discussed the issue more than 6 times during the next 6 months, The entire process kept me on the phone for a total of 2 hours over several months. The costumer representatives responded that the issue was in an investigation.
    Later,  a Collector company start chasing me to get the $65 paid. Phone number: {edited for privacy}, Inclusive, they made an offer to reduce the amount if I accept to pay or contact Verizon to request a clarification.
    By the end of the year, I contacted Verizon costumer services one more time but the representative stated that the account is not visible anymore.
    Convinced that the problem on this account was resolved, the second week of November, I called Verizon to reestablish my account with a new home phone number and Internet DSL connection.
    The answer was that  following Verizon policy I was unable to get a new account if a balance remain.
    After I explained the events, a manager (non-identified) who spoke to me by phone told me that Verizon will investigate the issue and I should wait for approval.
    On November 16, my account was confirmed approved and clear of debt, therefore, Verizon welcome me back with Home phone and internet DSL Service and confirmation on my online registration.

    Also, during the months of January and February 2010, Verizon New York, made other charges mistakes in my account (See details below) that have been resolved with an apologize and a refund.

    2/04/10 I have contacted Verizon customer support in regard of clarification in my Direct TV  statement.

    Your actions have damaged my integrity as a good costumer and citizenship.
    Without doubt after this problem get clearly resolved, you will lose this good costumer, get a negative feedback and I am planning to publish this letter at every web forum available.

  • Combo of T61 and customer support problems

    My main problem is that my T61 freezes up.  It came with a 2 gig ram, sbbb Intel core 2 duo t7500 processor, 1 gig turbo memory window's ultimate 32 bit os and an 80 gig hard drive. This problem has been going on intermittently (odd) since I  received the laptop brand new.  I may or may not be able to move the cursor over the screen when it is frozen.  It does not high light anything, control-alt-delete does not work, nothing responds.  I have to manually hold down the power button to turn the system off.  
    The different things it has done, and not all during the same occurrence:  blue screen with white writing, black screen with white writing, black screen oxc 000000f-selected entry could not be loaded because application is missing or corrupt, the memory was dumped (I had used rescue and recovery backup disks then because I did not know if something was corrupt in the original software that came loaded on it), sometimes it checks the c-drive after being manually shut down, sometimes it does not, problem with window's registry (only did that maybe twice), and corrected master file table, corrected bit map (after checking c). Sometimes it freezes and gives no error messages during restart.  I do not have anything loaded on this system that is not compatible with vista nor anything that exceeds the ram. 
    When I had to use my rescue and recovery disks because everything crashed, I called tech support.  They told me I needed to update my drivers-especially my video driver.  I tried to tell them that I had been going to the lenovo website for driver updates, using pc doc, updating bios, doing a registry cleanup, defraging the hd, and of course window's updates.  So he gave me a link on lenovo's website for another update.  During that call, I told the guy that the recovery disks that came with the laptop loaded XP on my system.  He sent me out vista recovery disks-vista business, not ultimate, and it was freezing up on vista and xp-no matter what program I was using.  The next time I called, lenovo had my computer shipped back and replaced the corrupt 2 gig ram.  It came back with the same software it left with, so I know my hard drive had not been wiped.  On the third call I was told to update my drivers, check the hard drive using bios, that it was my web browser, remove the battery....  By this time I was wondering about technical service which leads me to my other issue.
    I called the month after my warranty ran out, because I thought I had an established history of problems with this $1600+ laptop that has not worked right, and I was told that the warranty had run out, they would not honor it, records after 30 days were wiped-so there went my established history.  Now someone please tell me why a computer company would not keep records of customers warranty work requests?  Especially during the warranty period.  I was then given the number to out of warranty claims who told me it was out of warranty (duh) and she gave me the number to entitlement.  They called me the next day, which was nice but unfortunately I was not expecting their call and did not have all my info available.  Entitlement told me that someone from tech support would call me within the hour.  My computer proceeded to freeze up-so I left it frozen while waiting for tech support to call.  They did not so I called them, was told my warranty was out of date and I was transferred to another number.  Now this entire time I had been polite in my requests and conversations, my family had even alerted them to  a billing error that would have caused another customer some problems.  The tech I was transferred to was extremely rude the entire time.  I was not given the opportunity to explain my situation-which was what entitlement said the call would be about.   I requested mediation, he told me someone would call me within two days, then he proceeded to hang up on me.  No one has called.
    I would appreciate some assistance, in my computer problems and how to get in touch with the right person about customer service.  Thank you.

    obviously you have suffered a lot with the laptop os not working properly, have you tried to disable the turbo memory, sometimes that cause alot of trouble.

  • IOS 5 Custom Vibrations not working

    I am trying to assign a custom vibration to a specific person in my Contacts on my iPhone 4.  I have activated, created and saved the vibration as instructed and I have assigned it in the edit contact screen.  (When in the edit contact screen I have three 'sound' option menus:  One titled 'Ringtone';  underneath that, one titled 'Vibration' and then separate and under that, one titled 'text tone').  I have assigned my custom vibration under the 'Vibration' menu.
    However, whenever that specific contact sends me a text message, my phone still vibrates with the default two 'vibrations', just like it always has.  It will not do the custom vibration.
    I have a feeling it has something to do with the 'text tone' option menu, but it does not give me any option to assign a vibration in that menu.  I have not been able to get any other vibrations other than the default vibration when I am sent a text.
    How do I get this working?  I have tried it on a few other contacts with the same results.

    After hours of fiddling I've come to the same conclusion as all of you. Customer vibes ONLY work with phone calls.

    Did you already try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting.
    If this does not work, set it up as new device: Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings - Apple Support
    If still no luck, get it checked by an Authorized Apple Service Provider or Apple:

  • Retrieving empty values from multi value string in user profile custom properties

    I created a webpart to save and retrieve data from custom properties. I use the code below to get the stored data:

    Nothinig special about it.
    In my development environment, it works fine. The problem is  in my UAT environment. I'm facing an issue that i hope someone has been through. When the custom property is a multi value string type, it returns a empty string. I tested with HTML and single
    value fields and it works fine.
    Independently of the field type, it saves the data all right.
    Can anyone help me?

    I did as you suggested, but nothing changed. The problem is that profile[propname] comes already blank when using multi value property, even if there is data  to be retrieved.
    One funny thing is that, somehow the code manages to count the number of values there is in the property. Only the data is missing. We can see the exact number of column, cause i check if there's the right number of data, if there isn't, i add up  a empty
    string on the grid cell, but only for viewing. The empty string is not stored in the property.

  • Xperia Z Phone Continuous Vibration Problem - A Pain in the Neck

    I just wanna know something.. I bought the Xperia Z in March'2013 and I just love, love, love it. However, it started to act weird, maybe two weeks back, when all of a sudden it started to vibrate, (maybe for 3 or 4 hours non stop) and factory settings reset did not help at all. So, had to update the phone software AGAIN using Sony Companion which was pretty frustrating. After losing all my data (since I had forgotten to keep a back up), I was finally able to fix it (which now seems was temporary). The phone has started acting all weird again, it has started vibrating again and I tell you its very annoying after having burned a hole in my pocket just to buy it. So, how many times, just how many times will this be a pain in all the wrong places possible?
    Another thing is that, the battery literally gets heated up, if I have the internet (2G/3G) on or even the Wi-Fi or if I'm listening to music and it becomes really hot. The battery really drains out super fast and I have to charge it yet again. So, now I want to know what would be the best possible solution because I need one, and I need it fast. The phone is still under the warranty period so I am thinking of having it replaced 'cause I can't (Read: Simply CANNOT) afford to have this phone giving me problems over and over again.
    So help! I want this FIXED and want it FIXED Asap!

  • Customer service problem and disabled parents

    Hello I was wondering if anyone could offer any clarification or advice on this situation.
    My parents are both disabled, my dad having severe Parkinson and my mum having a variety of problems and mobility issues.
    A couple weeks ago they took a door to door sales man from talk talk up on his offer and signed up with them for his package. ( this wouldn't usually been done without me) Anyway they quit virgin as it was more expensive, but this meant that BT would have to run a line into the house to carry talk talk. So the other day a guy turns up so fit this but we find out that he is not BT as they have sub contracted the work. He completely messes up the work and an actually BT engineer tunrs up the following day who very annoyed and does his best to sort out the problem. After 3 hours he has to leave because of fading light and says that he will be back which is fair enough.
    My dad then discovers that talk talk are not carrying over the same number which causes a huge amount of problems for them as all the different agencies, police, nhs, home help etc have the number which they have had for the past 27 years! As such my dad has to pull out of the contract as talk talk will not budge and my mum cannot deal with the stress of a new number ( I know this may seem insignificant, but for them, particularly in their situation it causes massive issues)
    Anyway as the BT engineer had been really good they contact BT and discuss the situation who offer to sort it out and take out a contract without any additional costs or charges. They then take out the contract and say they they have to contact customer service to arrange connection.
    Well eventually they speak with someone who states that this cannot happen until 29th Nov which isn't great. My dad rings around again and spends an hour or so yesterday getting passed pillar to post trying to speak with someone to sort the situation. I then get a phone call around 2030 last night from a guy called nimhal wanting to speak with me as I have now been put as the point of contact to arrange to bring the date forward as he was aware my parents were disabled. At this point I wasn't aware of the full situation or that all of this had happened so couldn't provide the guy with any info or a order number so as such he couldn't deal with me and asked me to ring back this morning at 9am when they opened.
    So..... went away got all the required info to ring this morning, and I must say I am absolutely disgusted with the customer service. I must have spent almost 2 hours getting put on hold and being transferred, only to be hung up on when I politely asked to speak to a supervisor who apparently would tell me the same thing.  
    Yet again, I rang up (all of which on a mobile as no land line at my parents) explained the situation to a different guy who apologised and was keen to help. After around forty mins of discussion and being on hold he said that he had sent a message to the chap (nimhal) that I spoke to last night, that he was still dealing with it by bringing the date forward and that he would contact me directly. I thought fantastic!
    I then get a phone call from someone else completely who states that it has been brought forward to the 25th. I again explain the situation asking them to take into account and this isn't good enough from the safety aspect of my parents alone. The guy would not listen at all and states that the date has already been changed and cannot be done again.
    My parents are not even going to be in on that day as they are both at hospital!!!!! I asked if I could have a direct number for the British engineer Dept that deal with this or a manager, he refuses and says this does not happen. I then ask him if he could pass my details on for them then to contact me instead, again he says no.
    I have now realised that there is now in fact an actually working bt phone line on behalf of talk talk which has been cancelled. I am not sure why is still rings or works but it does.
    So these are my questions
    1 If there is now a bt phone line which was put in on thursday, why do they have to wait until the 25 to get it sorted?
    2 Can they keep there old number? (as there is a different number on this new line currently)
    I would like to say I have been patient and polite throughout, I am a police officer and fully appreciate that it is not nice to be abused! However I find this unacceptable and all the alarms and call 24etc go through the phone line on thier old number, both of which they have not got so desperately need it sorted.
    Sorry for the long message and the shoddy spelling but I would be eternally grateful for a bit of help on what to do to escalate this.

    Actually I have migrated search services from one server to another server in that server I have created new custom user profile property but it is not appearing in search service crawled property any one please help me out in this.

    I got the same problem and i fixed it.
    If you take a look on all User Profile properties(cutsom or standard) you will note that they are all mapped to the property "ContentsHidden"(in addition of its property).
    I concluded that you have to map all user profile properties to "ContentsHidden"
    Please mark as usefull if it resolved the problem.

  • N73 me vibrator problem.

    hi frns,
    there is some prblm with the vibrator of my mobile. it does work during the start up and on changing the ringtones in a profile where the vibration alert is on. but it doesnt work when i recv a call or a msg. i've tried formatting and hard reset also doesnt work.

    Sounds like a hardware failure as my N73-1 ME with same software does not have the same problem.
    Probably good that you gave it in to a Nokia Service Centre.

  • Droid 2 Global screen problems, vibrate problems, basically just a lot of problems?

    So, I've had my Droid 2 Global (Gingerbread 2.3.4) for about a year and a half, and ever since I got it I've had problems with the touchscreen. I have not rooted or customized the phone in any way, nor have I ever damaged the phone or gotten it wet.
    Windows will open by themselves, the music player and maps constantly open by themselves and drain the battery, any time I'm trying to send a text the keyboard goes haywire and will send "wttttttyuuuuttt" and nonsense like that to anyone on my 'recently texted' list. It takes about 10 minutes to send a simple text because the screen won't stop shaking and displaying random letters. It's not just when I'm touching it either. I've had it call random numbers and vibrate for no reason when I'm asleep and it's on my bedside table.
    I took this phone to the verizon store when I first got it, they "fixed" it, but an hour later it was back to being glitchy. I took it back, they told me to do a hard reset, it didn't help at all. I tried restarting the phone in safe mode several times (the most recent time being this morning) but the screen shaking and random apps opening issues are even worse in safe mode than in regular mode.
    I was wondering if anyone else had these kind of problems, and if so, how would I go about fixing them? Honestly I'm planning on getting rid of this phone in a few weeks but if there's anything I've overlooked I want to check it out.

    Sounds like you've been having some very frustrating and inconvenient issues with your Droid 2 Global. I have one that I still use but have never seen the behaviors you've described (except for the battery drain, but that's something that was easily managed by just keeping a charger handy). You mentioned having taken the D2G to one of our retail locations for assistance, and that the device reverted to it's previous behavior an hour later.
    I'm curious to know if the reps on our store performed a master reset (taking the device back to factory settings). If they did, did you have any of the same apps or settings restored to the device during that hour?

  • Profile Sync Import problem

    I have a problem regarding the import of a custom profile property. I have created a custom "description" property which is mapped to the AD "description" property. But after doing a Fullsync the property remains empty.
    I have checked the sync via miisclient.exe. I could see that the property was found that the value was "added" to my custom property. However it remained empty.
    Is there a way to see when the value get's lost? Anyone else had this problem before?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Edit: The mapping is import directed. Also, this isn't the only custom property I have created and mapped to an AD property. It's just the only one that doesn't seem to work.

    Your mapping has import or export direction?
    If it import the account used for sync must have Replicate Directory Changes permission on the AD please check:

    if it export, first attempt a second full sync if not done already
    and then grant the sync account Create child object and write permissions as described here:
