DS3(SIXAXIS) LED fun, and binary

I noticed that LED power saving (brightness == 0, off) in throttle seems to work for the controller LEDs.
Oh neat! I thought. Let's have fun with DS3 leds!
First test:
# echo 1 > /sys/module/hid_sony/drivers/hid\:sony/0005\:054C\:0268.0006/leds/0005\:054C\:0268.0006\:\:sony1/brightness
LEDs (4321):
XXXO
Second test:
# echo 2 > /sys/module/hid_sony/drivers/hid\:sony/0005\:054C\:0268.0006/leds/0005\:054C\:0268.0006\:\:sony1/brightness
LEDs (4321):
XXOX
Third test:
# echo 3 > /sys/module/hid_sony/drivers/hid\:sony/0005\:054C\:0268.0006/leds/0005\:054C\:0268.0006\:\:sony1/brightness
LEDs (4321):
XXOO
Wat?
Fourth test:
# echo 4 > /sys/module/hid_sony/drivers/hid\:sony/0005\:054C\:0268.0006/leds/0005\:054C\:0268.0006\:\:sony1/brightness
LEDs (4321):
XOXX
Oh.
It's a binary vector!
1 = 0001, 2 = 0010, 3 = 0011, 4 = 0100, etc,  255 = 1111
Changing the led has no affect on input or connection state, but for reference:
Controller 1 is "1" and 2 is "2", but  3 is "4" and 4 is "8". All off leds off (good for battery) is "0"; all on is "255". Invalid values are also off.
Coming soon to DS3: On-board battery and signal indicators?

Though Perian 1.2 did work fine for about a week and a dozen films, the solution came when I downgraded back to 1.1.4. All 's well now.

  • What is difference between TEXT mode and BINARY mode?

    Hi,
What is difference between TEXT mode and BINARY mode? In TEXT mode what is "ENCODING DEFAULT".
    OPEN DATASET wl_filename FOR INPUT
                              IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULT.
      OPEN DATASET wl_filename FOR INPUT
                              IN BINARY MODE .

    Hi vishnu,
    1. files like .TXT files are considered to be text,
and other files like .EXE . DOC etc are binary files.
    2. In text files, after each line, there are two
       internal binary characters
one for line feed and another one for newline.
    3. But, we don't have any meaning for it,
when we view such files in notepad, for eg.
Hence, to only get the understandable content,
we should open such TXT files, in text mode.
(we can also open them in binary mode,
but we will get two extra characters after each line,
and such two extra characters are meaningless
      for interpreting the text)
    4. In binary mode, each byte by byte is considered,
       without any meaning.

  • TS1702 how can I get anyone to give us answer on the iphone apps casino game we purchased few days ago which once the token was finished we were not able to reset and play just for fun and not for gambling. we need help and not to be charged additional

few days ago I have purchased Iphone casino games from itunes apps store. One of the game was made by the company called "ARISTOCRAT" dragan game. Usually we will get basic tokens to play the game, and if we ran out of the tokens all we need to do is going into "manu" and "setting" selete "dream" and reset that we should be able to continue play the game with same amount of the basic tokens. The one game would not let us to go back to the game. There were msg came out said" game center requires an active connection to the internet"? I didn't feel comfortable because we purchased the game for $1.99 to play for fun and not to gamble. We do have credit card on your file. We don't want to be charged alot of money for something not in our well. I need help to answer the question on the following:
    1.  Are we able to ever play this game again without going to internet? We don't even know which site to go to, because when we press the ok button nothing else came out to direct us to any area.
    2. We only purchased the few days ago order ID: MGT74GN6V7 on 10/03/12. all the other games we purchased we were able to continue to play by doing the same setting.

  • LED tv and glare

I just purchased an LED tv and we placed it directly across from a picture window.  Needless to say, there is tons of glare.  Would I have the same problem with an LCD or are they much better for glare?

Your TV IS an LCD. The technology in this particular set lends itself to reflection, similar to that of a plasma.
You can get an LCD with a non gloss coating, but they typically do not look as good.

  • XML and binary with field separator stock quote

    Hi All,
I'm doing a comparison of data transmission between XML and binary with field separator.
    Example of XML
    <nasdaq>
    <high>100.00</high>
    <low>90.00</low>
    </nasdaq>
Example of binary with field separator
    100.00|90.00
Of course, using XML will consume of much resources and processing power but with easier maintenance and development.
I'm doing some data feed with high transaction like Nasdaq, NYSE, etc. How you think about it...?
Any web site does the comparison of the above? I have googled but not much information found.
    Cheers,
    Wikey

XML is, of course, more flexible. For B2B transactions you should >>consider using gzip compression (avaiable in java.util.zip) if there's a >>fair bit of data in the message. That will reduced the effect of all the >>repetative XML furniture.yah, agreed but still not to a comfort level to proceed this technology. File size still big if compared to compressed non-XML data.
Btw, I'm seeking for some efficient data feed product able to handle XML effectively and did some comparison with all other standard data formating mechanism of data transmission. Therefore, i can see the whole picture of it. Still trying my R&D luck on google...

  • Editing contest for fun and prizes

    Hi eveyone,
I'm sorta curious: Has it been done, or been suggested in the past, to have an adobe forum video editing contest ?  Something like a 60 second AVI as the final cut (like a TV commercial) and AVI files for source videos, plus sound etc  ??
I was (in my never ending quest for video file samples to practice editing and learning this program (pr cs3 pro)) all over the web yesterday and one of the places I went to was Panavision NY.
I got to thinking that there is quite a lot of competition now between editing software companies ( in various levels of content and product placement) and it would be pretty cool to try to get some sponsors and contributions to have an Adobe competition / contest.
Prizes could be free software, free upgrade, maybe some hardware (depending on sponsors?) ...that sort of thing.
Judges could be maybe 3 people who are professionals ?
60 second thing could be to sell a product or a promo for a TV show, or a movie, or something like that ?? I would guess that an already on air TV show would be easiest to get material for due to copyrights and all that...
Anyone have any ideas ??  Does this sound dumb ?
    Rod

    Chuck,
Yeah, great idea !  Although I know there are a lot of really good pro's in these forums to do great stuff, I (at the moment) am a newbee and don't have a clue how to even do simple edits yet.  I don't know the conrols and specs and definitions and .....well, just about everything come to think of it.
But I don't see anything getting in the way of throwing out some ideas about getting people together to work on something that could be fun and instructive at the same time, for those who could "compete" ...  would be a blast.  I don't know about you, but doing even a simple edit, when I finally look at it finished, makes me laugh from the joy of it.....  I don't know why. There's something just plain fun about it.
Odd, you mention the key thing:
Yesterday I worked on a 2nd unit "Gossip Girl" shoot (dolly grip) at a stage in Queens. There was a cyc painted green, floor green, and two big butterfly frames ( about 30' x 30' ) stetched with green screen on both sides of the cyc (to extend it on the sides).  Basically it was some models doing the model walk from one side to the middle, pause, do a pose for the single camera ( HD Cam ), continue walk to other side, and then back to one.  Like a banana move to the camera and then back to one straight across upstage.  Then some inserts (close ups, medium close ups) of the models moving VERY SLOWLY....bringing hand to hip, pocket book up to front of body, stuff like that..... I didn't look at script or storyboards but it looks to me like the thing was basically someone's POV and the slow mo stuff was probably a character thinking, " Oh, That pocket book gives me an idea for what to wear to the big party tomorrow"...something like that.
Anyway, I think I boomed up and down about 20 times but dolly stayed in one spot the whole day.  Had to drink a lot of coffee.
This is the type of stuff that gets me thinking, "If some corporate type guys got together with some producers (exec, not below the line) to have a relationship regarding product promotion, I think it would be a win for everyone. The show gets publicity, the product guys (adobe for example) get another foot into the real world of productions and a lot of good publicity too...  I'm sure they are already into all kinds of relationships with people, but wouldn't it be cool to parlay that into a kind of artistic and technical competition among it's forum members ??? Many of whom are really more than qualified to do the best editing anyone's ever seen ??   This just seems to me a perfect match...
So, keep looking for that green thing and maybe I can learn something....     : P

  • Linear search and binary search

    Hi
can any one tell me what is linear and binary search in detail.
and what is the difference between them .
which one is useful in coding.
    Thanks&Regards,
    S.GangiReddy.

    hi,
If you read entries from standard tables using a key other than the default key, you can use a binary search instead of the normal linear search. To do this, include the addition BINARY SEARCH in the corresponding READ statements.
    READ TABLE <itab> WITH KEY <k1> = <f1>... <kn> = <fn> <result>  BINARY SEARCH.
The standard table must be sorted in ascending order by the specified search key. The BINARY SEARCH addition means that you can access an entry in a standard table by its key as quickly as you would be able to in a sorted table.
    REPORT demo_int_tables_read_index_bin.
    DATA: BEGIN OF line,
            col1 TYPE i,
            col2 TYPE i,
          END OF line.
DATA itab LIKE STANDARD TABLE OF line.
    DO 4 TIMES.
      line-col1 = sy-index.
      line-col2 = sy-index ** 2.
      APPEND line TO itab.
    ENDDO.
    SORT itab BY col2.
READ TABLE itab WITH KEY col2 = 16 INTO line BINARY SEARCH.
    WRITE: 'SY-SUBRC =', sy-subrc.
    The output is:
    SY-SUBRC =    0
The program fills a standard table with a list of square numbers and sorts them into ascending order by field COL2. The READ statement uses a binary search to look for and find the line in the table where COL2 has the value 16.
Linear search use sequential search means each and every reord will be searched to find. so it is slow.
Binary search uses logrim for searching. Itab MUST be sorted on KEY fields fro binary search. so it is very fast.
The search takes place as follows for the individual table types :
standard tables are subject to a linear search. If the addition BINARY SEARCH is specified, the search is binary instead of linear. This considerably reduces the runtime of the search for larger tables (from approximately 100 entries upwards). For the binary search, the table must be sorted by the specified search key in ascending order. Otherwise the search will not find the correct row.
sorted tables are subject to a binary search if the specified search key is or includes a starting field of the table key. Otherwise it is linear. The addition BINARY SEARCH can be specified for sorted tables, but has no effect.
For hashed tables, the hash algorithm is used if the specified search key includes the table key. Otherwise the search is linear. The addition BINARY SEARCH is not permitted for hashed tables.
Binary search must be preffered over linear sarch.
Hope this is helpful, Do reward.

  • Linear and Binary Searching of Parallel Arrays

I'm an AP student who used the "Fundamentals of Java" by Lambert/Osborne 3rd Edition. This text book has code that doesn't match anything else I've found in other how-to's, guides, or teach yourself books. Not even online can I find code that matches up with the format used in this book!
I've got an assignment that wants me to read in a 4 digit account number of N number of customers, places them in two parallel arrays. Data found in two separate txt files. Create a prompt that ask's for customer's account number then displays account balance. Same program for both linear and binary search methods (2 programs).
I know the search method and how to read the files with a scanner. It is the body of the program that is stumping me. How to call and search the arrays themselves. Any help would be great.

First of all, you have posted this question in the wrong place. Please post these kinds of general questions in the New to Java forum.
Second, if you're in an AP class, don't you have a teacher you can ask?
    But anyway, here's the idea
For a linear search, you go thru the array element by element, and on each element you call equals(x) to see if that element is equal to what you're searching for (note that primitives use == rather than equals)
For binary search, note first of all that your data MUST BE COMPARABLE (primative or implement the comparable interface) and MUST BE SORTED.
Then what you can do if go to the middle of the list, and if what you are searching for is less than that element, go to the middle of the first half of the list (if it's greater, go the the middle of the upper half of the list) and keep breaking the list in half until you've found the element or you know its not there.

PowerBook G4 - Won't Start Up - 3 Strange Beeps then just LED flashes and sudden death - black screen.
Prior that the powerbook also couldn't start but I could see the Apple logo, so via fire-wire (holding T at start up) I backed up the hard disk.
Check via DiskToolPro the structure, defragmented. Via DiskWarrior rebuild the directory
and finally not been able to access the drive I reformatted the drive via fire-wire drive.
Re-started the powerbook holding C to boot up from DVD - nothing
Re-started again and it give me one long beep and black screen. An indication that my 1gig RAM is bad or gone (?) and the DVD is stuck inside.
Bought new one 1 gig, installed it and now I'm getting only three beeps.
I tried all, changed the slots several times and nothing.
    I tried more as:
c -- to boot from CD (again while the DVD is still inside and I cannot get it out)
cmd-opt-p-r -- to Zap the PRAM,
cmd-opt-n-v -- to clear NV RAM,
cmd-opt-o-f -- to boot into open firmware … and nothing. The DVD is in and I have
black screen with three beeps and flashing LED.

I'm retired and I cannot afford a new laptop - and this powerbook was a great, great horse for me until that horrible set of three beeps.
Thank you in advance for any advice and help.

But it is the faulty Logic board?
There was a known issue with LBs in 15-inch PowerBooks with 1.5 and 1.67Ghz processors in which one RAM slot would fail. There once was a repair extension program that fixed the problem at no cost, but it is long-expired.
The problem with seeking a used logic board for these models is that so many had their boards replaced that it increases the chances of the boards in the used/pulled markets having the same problem you have now. The replacement program also came close to exhausting the supply of new boards,
If it turns out to be a bad LB and you can't find a replacement, consider how used computer pricing works: A used computer is worth hugely more in parts than if bought as a working unit. I.E, you can probably find a working PowerBook that will cost less than the logic bard alone. It also possible to find a used MacBook Pro for less that a replacement LB.
If you tell us your approximate geographic location, we can see what's available nearby. I'm also retired, and and visiting my wife's family this week so have even more time than usual to help you search.

  • Doubt on calculating Hexadecimal and binary values

Please give me some tips to find the hexadecimal and binary values of negative numbers for eg:-
The hexadecimal value of -1 is 0xffffffff. Here I don't know how the corresponding hex value is calculated.
I calculate the hex value of numbers in this way. For eg: to get the hex value 11
    1*16^1 + 1*16^0 = 17.
Similar logic to convert binaries to decimal by using the base 10.

    It's about 2s complement arithmatic.
Hexidecimal representation is used by people interested in the bit patterns, rather than numerical values as such so integers are treated as unsigned. But when working in decimal we're generally treating the variable as signed. Negative integers are represented by "adding" 2^32 to them so -1 becomes 2^32-1. This is stored as a word where all bits are 1s, which means in hex all nybles are 'F'.

I am an iMac owner with no security software installed. My sister has never owned an Apple computer product and has ordered (not received) an iPad2 for fun and her own business (ledgers and accounts). She has asked me to recommend a security software package. Does she need it? If so, what kind?

It's not needed. At all. As long as your sister doesn't "jailbreak" her iOS device and avoids tricksy phishing attempts.
Every app is sandboxed, and the OS is among the most secure usable by an average consumer. In my opinion, best thing is to just not worry about it.

  • UDP and Binary document transfer

I am attempting to transfer a binary document from one machine to another utilizing UDP. I am able to get the document moved over, however the document will not open. It is basically a word document and I am chunking it over. I am sure that I have received all the packets and inserted them into the final file.
I can transfer a text document and not have any issues opening it.
So based on being able to chunk a large text document over and being able to view it, I am wondering if I need to do something different for binary documents?

Still, if it's as the OP seems to be saying--text files consistently work fine and binary files consistently don't--then it's most likely what the good Dr. said.Hmm.. I wonder how he verified that large text files work. Do you think he did a diff or compare of the original and received text file? He could be missing pieces in the text file as well, but text is text, so it's still possible to open and read it.

  • Text mode and Binary mode

Can anybody give the differences between Text and Binary modes that are used with Datasets??

    For Binary Mode
The contents of the file are not structured in lines in the  READ DATASET or  TRANSFER operations. Instead, they are input or output as a stream. You do not have to specify the  IN BINARY MODE addition explicitly.
    For Text Mode
If you use this addition, the contents of the file are structured in lines. Each time you use the  READ DATASET or TRANSFER statement, the system reads or writes a single line. If the data object to which you are transferring the data is too big, it is padded with spaces. If it is too small, the data record is truncated.
    Hope this helps.

    Max,
if you’ve installed the Xcode compiler and its “command line tools” add-on, there’s a lot of text-mode games for which source code can be downloaded and compiled. Back in the Neolithic Age when I was at university, Empire was a multiplayer favorite (see here for one of its current offspring, which can run multiplayer over the Internet, and for which a text-mode client is still available), and Rogue was popular for when solitary play was the only available option.
