DSC not logging data

Hi all,
For some reason, my DSC has stopped logging data. I have a fairly simple setup (8 modbus servers) that are being read as I/O servers in the DSC. I have checked the "Log Data"option, and this was working for several months. Recently, I had to move to a different computer, and now nothing is being logged. The data are coming in correctly, the database seems to exist, but there's no new data being stored. I have tried creating a new database,  and then going into "Project library: Properties" and poining it to the new database, but nothing seems to happen.
I'd welcome any suggestions.
thanks,
mike

Hi Matthew,
There is no error message. In fact, I can access the shared variables just fine. The historical data charts act like they should, but they have no data. I've looked in the folder where the database lives, and see that it has basically never been used... there are 5 files (sdb_lock, pid_cdih, stridm.cdin, nodetree.elog, nodetree.elog.ckpt0) but nothing else.
I also did locate the original computer and found the technical report.
At this point, I'm reasonably comfortable abandoning any previous historical data, so I wouldn't object to a solution that involved starting the database over. I'd like to be able to use the original project to specify all the variables because it was laborious to set them all up.
thanks for your help.

  • Message  stopped processing and not log data

    I have an instance of a synchronous scenario (HTTP to RFC) that just stopped this morning before the call adapter step. This scenario ran successfully yesterday and this afternoon. No changes have been made for weeks. The last step to execute in SXMB_MONI was technical routing. I've compared this with a working message and the step looks fine. Rather than a chequered flag next to the message it has a grey circle. When I hold the cursor over the circle the test 'LOG MESSAGE' appears.
    I've checked the specific communications channel in 'Comms Channel Monitoring' in RTWB and I can't find the message. The message before and after this message are shown. I've checked the Message Monitoring in RTWB and I can see the Outbound message which has a status of to be delivered.
    Obviously the Outbound message cam into XI but doesn't appear to make it as far as the RFC adapter. Is there anywhere else I should be looking to find out why this failed or what caused it not to reach the RFC adapter?

    Shabarish,
    Thanks but none of the nodes have an error. That is what I find strange. Usually I'll see some problem with mapping or the R/3 system is down but in this case nothing.
    When I attempt to restart it via SXMB_MONI it says I can't restart a message of this type.I'm assuming I can't restart synchronous messages.

  • Error 200279 and number / frequency of logged data

    Hello,
    I am new to LabVIEW and I am writing a VI that sends 2 voltage (AO voltage) to a motor, and read the voltage input (AI voltage) from a strain gauge and one of the corresponding AO signal that I sent out to the motor. Also, the VI reads encoder value. I am using a PCI 6230.
    I am unsure of the difference between the number of samples per channel in DAQmx Read (AI Volt), DAQmx Read (Encoder), and DAQmx Write (AO volt).
    If I set all three values to 1 (like in the attached VI), I will get a log data that has logical data for DAQmx Write (AO volt) and DAQmx Read (Encoder) (values changing and logged every 1ms). However, the log data from DAQmx Read (AO volt) has some error (it's not logging data with increment of 1ms), then the Error 200279 shows up.
    If I set DAQmx Read (AO volt) to 1000, and the other two to 1, I will get DAQmx Read (AO volt) data with increment of 1ms, and the others increment of 1s. While if I set all to 1000, my encoder and DAQmx write data will lag (shows up late in the log) by 1s (transient data is not shown, only stedy state after 1s).
    I have been trying to troubleshoot and read about the error description but found no helpful clues.
    Appreciate your help.
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi Thomas,
    Thanks for your inputs. I have tried using the "Shared Sample Clock" example but I have an error which says:
    Error -200077 occurred at Property Node DAQmx Timing (arg 1) in DAQmx Timing (Sample Clock).vi:6->AnalogOutputandInputRev1c.vi
    Possible reason(s):
    Requested value is not a supported value for this property. The property value may be invalid because it conflicts with another property.
    Property: SampTimingType
    Requested Value: Sample Clock
    You Can Select: On Demand
    Task Name: _unnamedTask<2DE>
    And then,
    Error -50103 occurred at DAQmx Start Task.vi:3
    Possible reason(s):
    NI Platform Services: The specified resource is reserved. The operation could not be completed as specified.
    Task Name: _unnamedTask<2DF>
    I have attached my modified VI here as well.
    I would like all my tasks to occur at the same time, and most importantly, logged at the time it happens without some delay.
    Would you please advise on what's going wrong with my VI this time?
    Thank you very much.

  • Logging data only when value of tag increases

    Hello,
    I want to data log only when my tag value is increases another it will not log data in database.
    So how do I do this.
    Thanks & Regard
    Nitin Jain

    A functional global, which will look at the current value, compare it to the previous, and if the new value is greater, signal that fact, and replace the previous value with the new value. You probably want the comparison to have a range, or a threshhold, so that it has to have increased by a certain amount before this all occurs, also are you only concerned in increasing? If you signal were a slow sinusoidal one you would register increases all the way up one side of the waveform, then once the peak was reached no more data would be saved, unless of course the amplitude increased. Do a search on functional globals, Action Engines, to see what I'm refering to as a storage mechanism.

  • DSC 8.6.1 wrong timestamps for logged data with Intel dual core

    Problem Description :
    Our LV/DCS 8.6.1 application uses shared variables to log data to Citadel. It is running on many similar computers at many companies just fine, but on one particular Intel Dual Core computer, the data in the Citadel db has strange shifting timestamps. Changing bios to startup using single cpu fixes the problem. Could possibly set only certain NI process(es) to single-cpu instead (but which?). The old DSCEngine.exe in LV/DSC 7 had to be run single-cpu... hadn't these kind of issues been fixed by LV 8.6.1 yet?? What about LV 2009, anybody know?? Or is it a problem in the OS or hardware, below the NI line??
    This seems similar to an old issue with time synch server problems for AMD processors (Knowledge Base Document ID 4BFBEIQA):
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/1EFFBED34FFE66C2862573D30073C329
    Computer info:
    - Dell desktop
    - Win XP Pro sp3
    - 2 G RAM
    - 1.58 GHz Core 2 Duo
    - LV/DSC 8.6.1 (Pro dev)
    - DAQmx, standard instrument control device drivers, serial i/o
    (Nothing else installed; OS and LV/DSC were re-installed to try to fix the problem, no luck)
    Details:
    A test logged data at 1 Hz, with these results: for 10-30 seconds or so, the timestamps were correct. Then, the timestamps were compressed/shifted, with multiple points each second. At perfectly regular 1-minute intervals, the timestamps would be correct again. This pattern repeats, and when the data is graphed, it looks like regular 1-sec interval points, then more dense points, then no points until the next minute (not ON the minute, e.g.12:35:00, but after a minute, e.g.12:35:24, 12:36:24, 12:37:24...). Occasionally (but rarely), restarting the PC would produce accurate timestamps for several minutes running, but then the pattern would reappear in the middle of logging, no changes made.
    Test info:
    - shared variable configured with logging enabled
    - data changing by much more than the deadband
    - new value written by Datasocket Write at a steady 1 Hz
    - historic data retrieved by Read Traces
    - Distributed System Manager shows correct and changing values continuously as they are written

    Meg K. B. ,
    It sounds like you are experiencing Time Stamp Counter (TSC) Drift as mentioned in the KB's for the AMD Multi-Core processors. However, according to this wikipedia article on TSC's, the Intel Core 2 Duo's "time-stamp counter increments at a constant rate.......Constant TSC behavior ensures that the duration of each clock tick is
    uniform and supports the use of the TSC as a wall clock timer even if
    the processor core changes frequency." This seems to suggest that it would be not be the case that you are seeing the issue mentioned in the KBs.
    Can you provide the exact modle of the Core 2 Duo processor that you are using?

  • Please help if you can, my user ID will not log on and it has all my data in it.

    The primary user ID (an admin ID with all the valuable info I need access to) will not log on from a restart or initial power up. I was able to go into another user admin ID once and change its password which got me in once but now no passcodes will work.
    The primary admin user will not log on at all. it doesn't give any error messages. It just flashs for a moment and then goes back to the user selection screen. I have the same apple ID on my iphone and can access all iCloud items associated with it. Just the user won't work. Another admin user and guest user work fine.
    Before the user crashed we had some internet issues where it wouldn't log onto our shared network at our complex which has about a dozen registered users associated. Some sources have suggested that we were hacked and that security problems have shut down that user. We were in the British Virhin Islands when it happened. We are in the US now and the other user IDs are still working gone and the new Internet source was picked up through wifi without any trouble.
    There is is so much info In that user ID that we need access to. I tried to use timemachine through the other admin but it will not reset through it. I have an external HD time machine backed up as of Feb 15 which would get us back most of the data, but I can't seem to reload that info either. Should I wipe out the whole system and start again? Maybe just erase that user? I'm not sure how to even do that...
    thanks for for any and all assistance!

  • Changing sampling time for logging data in DSC

    currently I created lots of shared variables by Modbus server. I'm wondering when I active logging data to Citadel, there is any option for change sampling time for logging data or not. I only saw option for changing base on percentage of value differences.
    Since I want to export them to MS Excel later, I want decrease the number of sample datas by decreasing sampling time.
    Thanks in advance.

    This is my idea that i try

    Hi,
        I'm trying to move a data file to another windows drive with BrTools.
    It fails before it actually starts to move the file. The error it shows is:
    ORA-01012: not logged on.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    BRSPACE  has a command option -u to specify the Database user and password. How ever BRSPACE connects to the database as SYSDBA, you do not have to specify the user and password if the operating system user belongs to the dba group.SO check if the user is falling in DBA group with proper authorizations.
    PLease reward points for useful answers.

  • Log data on the host computer using cRIO-9035

    Is it possible for me to log data on the host computer opposed to on the controller itself? I'm needing to log quite a bit of data and I'm not wanting to use my storage on the cRIO. I'm using scan mode on the controller.
    Thanks

    Lots of ways to do this. You can write a datalogger to run on the PC, to read shared variables hosted on controller and  write them to a file. There is also the DSC module for logging hundreds to thousands of shared variables to a database, if you need that.

  • DSC stopped logging

    I'm running Labview 7.1 and have up until very recently been successfully logging data using the DSC module.  The is no obvious cause for this, hence the posting.
    I have the DSC module installed on a PC with an RS-Linx OPC server.  Many tags are configured and have been logging for over a year.  The tagengine is configured and launched upon PC startup.  Database is Citadel 5.
    Basically, I cannot see any data beyond 8 aug 2007 when using MAX 4.1.  I have tried stopping an restarting the DSCEngine.  I also renamed the .SCF file and reloaded this into the tagengine.  Also I have added a new tag to see if that would log.   The tagmonitor shows all the tags are there and are updating.  However, when I try to add the new tag to a view in max, it is not present. I'm at a bit of a loss to understand how MAX cannot see it, and suspect this is the root of my problem.  Any help appreciated.
    Mark

    OK.  I tried this.  The read hisorical data .vi's behaved exactly like MAX, i.e. no data beyond a certain point.  All the tags appeared to be there, etc.
    I had a couple of other thoughts which I tried - also to no avail.  I looked at the services which were running, thinking thte Citadel server may not be running.  I found I had two services related to Citadel running.  Starting and stopping these seemed to make no difference, although I did not reboot the PC, a it is running a pretty critical application - although it can be rebooted if absolutely necessary.
    One thing: The Citadel service said it depended on something called NIPALK, which I did not see in the services list.  Any thoughts on what this is?

  • Can not restore data files from backup set

    I am trying to restore Server A's backup data to Server B (they are all oracle11g) using rman. The restore commands is below:
    rman target /;
    shutdown immediate;
    startup nomount;
    restore controlfile from '/usr/local/oracle/backup/20100418/ctl_xxx'
    alter database mount;
    catalog start with '/usr/local/oracle/backup/20100418/';
    restore database;
    recover database;
    alter database open resetlogs;
    For the first time, it works. But when i tried to restore another backup data by the same way:
    rman target /;
    shutdown immediate;
    startup nomount;
    restore controlfile from '/usr/local/oracle/backup/20100425/ctl_xxx'
    alter database mount;
    catalog start with '/usr/local/oracle/backup/20100425/';
    restore database;
    recover database;
    alter database open resetlogs;
    The second time, i found that rman restore the old backup data, which means that it restore the data file under '/usr/local/oracle/backup/20100418/' instead of '/usr/local/oracle/backup/20100425/'.
    So I run 'list backup of database summary' to see the backup set lists in control file.
    List of Backups

    945 B 0 A DISK 25-APR-10 1 1 NO TAG20100425T020007
    But when i run ‘restore database preview summary’ to see the backup set list to restore

    there's no backup set 945 at all. that's why i could not restore data file under '/usr/local/oracle/backup/20100425/' at the second time.
    So, why two backup list is different ? how can i restore datafile under '/usr/local/oracle/backup/20100425/' ?
    My backup script is below:
    run{
    allocate channel c1 type disk;
    backup incremental level 0 as backupset format '$DIR/`date +%Y%m%d`/data_%d_c0_%T_%u' database;
    sql 'alter system archive log current';
    backup archivelog from time 'sysdate-14' format '$DIR/`date +%Y%m%d`/log_%d_%T_%u';
    backup current controlfile format '$DIR/`date +%Y%m%d`/ctl_%d_%T_%I_%u';
    release channel c1;

  • Can not log on after successfull installation - SAP Netweaver Trial JAVA

    Hello,
    I have successfully downloaded and installed the NW Java trial. (NW_JAVA_700SP14_SR3.rar)
    I can see in SAP MMC that all the services was started. At http://vjm:50000 I can see the default page.
    Unfortunately I can not log on to any page that need SAP authentication (eg. User management, NW administrator),
    but can log to pages which needs just basic browser authentication (eg: Web Service Navigator, UDDI client, System Information).
    The portal also does not let me log on (http://vjm:50000/irj ).
    When I get the standard SAP NW log on screen, after entering Administrator with the correct master password, simply the log on screen appears again (the password field is cleared). I also tried some incorrect user name / password just to check the difference. In that case I got the correct error message.
    I installed the software with WMware, Windows 2003 server, allocated enough disk space and 1.6Gbyte RAM. The installation finished without errors. Prior, I installed the MS loopback too (tried without it too). In SAP MMC everything is green, only have an open alert in J2E 00 -> Services -> Security -> Aggregated Data -> Invalid session count "262 > 200 last reported value above treshold".
    I am using the standard internet explorer coming with Win2003 server.
    Tried the users: Administrator, SDM, Guest, ADSUSER. I know that the password is correct, because I don't get any error if I use it, just getting the log on screen back ...
    Could anyone pls help me how can I log on to the system? Or is there any security trace file or log which could help me solve this problem?
    I am desperately trying to install this trial, I completely reinstalled the software 5 times but still can not use it
    Laszlo

    Hi,
    is your problem persisting?
    CAVE: If you use a wrong user/pw combination > 3 times the account of the user may be locked!
    try j2ee_admin instead of administrator or try adm together with your Masterpassword
    Do you have to specify the users pw inside the installation procedure? In "normal" installations this has to be done.
    If not the pw´s in the documentation of the previous answer`may fix your problem.
    The sap mmc is irrelevant for user authentication.
    Green means your system is running, nothing else.
    kind regards
    Tom

  • THE DATABASE CONNECTION IS LOST :;; WIERD  ORA-01012 NOT LOGGED ON ERROR

    ERROR: ORA-01012 NOT LOGGED ON ERROR
    I AM USING A JAVA SWING INTERFACE (JDK 1.1.8), WHICH USES JNI TO CALL C PROGRAMS WHICH IN TURN CONNECTS TO THE DATABASE, ORACLE 8.1.6.
    A DATABASE CONNECTION IS ESTABLISED IN THE MAIN CLASS BY CALLING A FUNCTION FROM THE CONSTRUCTOR.
    FOR ALL OTHER FUNCTION CALLS WHICH ARE MADE FROM WITHIN THIS CONSTRUCTOR, THE CONNECTION STAYS.
    BUT AFTER THE CONTRUCTOR CALL IS COMPLETE, DATABASE CONNECTION IS STRANGELY LOST. THUS ALL OTHER FUNCTION CALLS FAIL BECAUSE OF CONNECTION ISSUES GIVING ORA-01012. THOUGH IF I CHECK UP IN THE DATABASE, THE CONNECTION DOES FIND AN ENTRY.
    SO IT APPEARS THAT SOMEHOW THE JAVA INTERFACE LOOSES TRACK OF CONNECTION. BUT STRANGELY ALL THE FUNCTIONS WORK IF CALLED FROM THE CONSTRUCTOR......... BUT THATS NOT THE IDEA.
    PLEASE HELP, THIS PROBLEM IS BUGGING ME FOR WEEKS NOW.
    THANKS
    AMIT

    apologise for the caps lock.
    i am working on a previous system with java swing front end which alread uses jni, and connects to database using pro *c.
    My problem is that the connection is lost as soon as the constructor of the main class is run, giving an
    ORA-1012 NOT LOGGED ON ERROR.
    But if i place the same calls in the contructor all the database call work.
    It somehow appears that the java interface looses the connection context. Though the session does find entry in the oracle dynamic tables as long as i dont close the front end main window, thereby meaning that its the jave interface which looses the context.
    part of the code of the main class eiquser.
    //constructor
    public EiqUser() {
         super();
         initMRI();
    private void initMRI() {
         try {
              /* initialize geoManager environment */
              int rccc = new EiqCfuncs().eiqInitEnv();
    //eiqinitenv is a c function which connects to database using pro *C
              EiqCfuncs cfuncs = new EiqCfuncs();
              //EiqCfuncs has the prototypes of c functions used bye the java interface
              this.ivjFileMenu.setText(cfuncs.eiqGetText(resNum.getTEXT_FILE_MENU())); // sets the menu name
    and so on.........
    public void eiqUser_WindowClosed(java.awt.event.WindowEvent windowEvent) {
         new EiqCfuncs().eiqTermEnv(); // gives ora-1012 error
    //eiqtermenv is supposed to disconnect from data base, but returns an ora-1012 not logged on erro
         return;
    //eiqtermenv closes the connection with the data base. But fails in this case. if i place the same call ( eiqtermenv) in the initMRI function or the contructor it succeeds.
    Plus if i dont use the java interace and use a c stub for executing the same sequence of functions, then i dont face any problems.
    the proc calls exectuted ultimately by...
    :::eiqinitenv
    exec sql connect using :sqlid identified by sqlpw; // succeeds giving sqlerr.sqlcode=0;
    ::::eiqterm env
    exec sql commit work; //fails giving 0ra-1012 error
    exec sql rollback work;
    Why is the java interface loosing track of the connection once done with the constructor of the main class?? The session still finds an entry in the oracle dynamic tables.
    Please help
    Thx
    Amit
