DSL line installation

Hi, we live in a rural area in western PA and are currently not offered DSL service.  This is rather infuriating, as the very next house on our road DOES get DSL.  Is there any way--anyone I can call--to have a verizon technician install a DSL line on the telephone poles running by our house?  I currently have verizon wireless mobile broadband access, and to be honest, it isn't that bad, but I would still greatly prefer DSL, as it is faster and the service is not affected by the weather.

While you're on your DSL connection, could you please paste the output of the below?
Open an
elevated command prompt
a.
The path below is the default install path, so it may be different if you've customized
your install
b.
If you’re using 32b Office on a 64b OS, you may need to run it from the “Program
Files (x86)” folder
c.
Start, search for ‘cmd’, right click on the command prompt window and
select “Run as administrator”
d.
cscript "%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office\Office14\ospp.vbs" /dstatus
2)
Enter the MAK key (if you're using MAK)
a.
cscript "%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office\Office14\ospp.vbs" /inpkey:<the MAK key>
b.
Include the dashes in the product key
3)
Trigger activation
a.
Launching an Office application will then prompt you for activation via the UI.
Alternatively you can trigger it using this command:
b.
cscript "%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office\Office14\ospp.vbs" /act
4)
Check the status
a.
The following command will show the licensing status.  Alternatively in the
Office UI you can view the status by clicking File, Help.
b.
cscript "%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office\Office14\ospp.vbs" /dstatus

  • My mac wifi connection to DSL line was down when I tried to upgrade Ipad to IOS6, and it defaulted to Ipad data line and consumed my monthly allotment of data -- How can that happen as a technical matter?

Maps did not work for me for the first week after upgrading to IOS6 on my New Ipad -- I have since learned that I exceeded my 2 gig monthly data plan and therefore I had no 4G access on my ipad, which meant Maps couldn't work while traveling.  Since I never download videos, I knew I had not knowingly downloaded that much data.  When I called AT&T, they told me that when I upgraded to IOS6 I consumed over 1 gig of data.
I did the upgrade while connected to my iMac, which in turn has a wireless connection to router connected to my home DSL line.   My wifi service has been spotty lately, possibly because router is defective.  So let's assume that when I tried to download IOS6 that my iMac did not have a good wifi connection.  Is the AT&T person correct that the download defaults to the Ipad's 4G cellular network, even though the iPad is connected to the iMac by USB cable?  I didn't think that was possible as a technical matter -- i.e., that the iMac gets automatic access to the iPad's connection to the cellular network.  (I'm sure I'm not explaining this right, I'm obviously not technical.)
Also, do you get any obvious warning or indicator on the device that you have exceeded your data limit for the month?  I sure didn't see any warning, (although I now know that I can go to Settings, then Cellular Data, then View Account and find the status of my data line account).
Thanks for any help on this.

Strange. It works fine with my setup which is no different from yours. Problem with the cable or LAN port(s)?

  • DSL line drop problems

I've had BT Broadband for about 2yrs with no problems,  then from the end of January I've had repeated line drops.
The HH recovers sometimes straight away, sometimes after 2 to 5 drops in quick succession.  each time the line speed is good but the connection only lasts a day or so.
I logged a fault and had a engineer check the line - no fault found
I logged another fault and got the HH3 swapped for a HH4
I'm connected the HH to the test socket
    I've replaced the filter
I've run it with no phone
And still after 6 weeks the same problem is there.  My conclusion is that it's somewhere upstream in the exchange as Ican't see what else I can do.
    Any suggestions appreciated

  • DSL line at two locations

We have the need to establish a network that connects the VolP phones in the garage of a ranch house and the WiFi network in the remainder of the ranch house.
We have extentions of the DSL line at two locations. 1. At the garage and 2. In the other side of the house.
We have purchased a SPA2002 and a WRT54G WIRELESS-G ROUTER, can you give me instructions as to how to do it?
I AM A COMPLETE NOVICE, SO PLEASE KEEP IT SIMPLE FOR ME.

    Hi,
The one which you see in the path <AIA Directory>\AIAComponents\EnterpriseObjectLibrary\Core\Common\V1 is the release 1. If you open the Datatypes.xsd you could spot the difference.

Do check the Datatypes.xsd in <AIA Directory>\AIAComponents\EnterpriseObjectLibrary\Core\Common\V2. This is the latest release and it imports the xsd from Infrastructure library.

  • DSL Line Rate Q

just wondering what determines your line rate, ive come from having Virgin Media fibre optic, i know very little about ADSL
    my connection is currently:
DSL line rate: 912 Kbps upstream, 8375 Kbps downstream
DSL noise margin: 5.90 dB upstream, 6.10 dB downstream
is it ever likely to change ?

  • DSL Line two locations

Not sure if this is the place to post this question but I have a DSL line coming into the house and a Qwest modem. Then I run into Apple Time capsule. The wireless feature is working fine but I can not get a strong signal out in the backyard. I have a phone line out there and would like to hook up another modem and wireless system. Is it possible to run two seperate systems off the same phone line and DSL line coming into the house?

can anyone help on this one ?

  • DSL line analysis

This is a rather technological question but do the engineers at verizon have the ability to analyze the DSL line for say the past 3-4 months to determine if in fact audio and video(increase packets of data---moreso than just telephone conversations) were transmitted over the line. Perhaps a verizon engineer could comment. Sort of like a forensic analysis of the DSL line for the past 3-4 months. Thanks     ---Stanley

Hey stanley, we can do a reading on the network from now to 24hrs or 48hrs but we can't go back 3-4 months in the past to analyze your service.

  • DSL Line

I turned of my cable television and the cable provider increased my internet rates. I have thought about switching to a DSL line, and is there enough bandwidth in DSL to support Apple TV for downloading movies etc.
    Thanks for the help.

I have thought about switching to a DSL line, and is there enough bandwidth in DSL to support Apple TV for downloading movies etc.
It depends on how good your copper phone line are, how far from the switching station you are and how patient you are - especially how patient you are.
I'm on old copper (50 yr plus old lines) and a fair distance from the switching station. It can take me about 3 hrs to download a movie (which I usually do overnight).

  • Can I run two DSL lines into my airport network?

I have a 1.5M line from Qwest and can not get faster speed from anyoe else in my semi-rural community. Can I run two 1.5 DSL lines into one or two airport extremes and get the equivalent of a 3.0 line?

If I have two DSL lines each connected to its own Actiontec modem with each modem connected via ethernet to its own airport extreme then it sounds like I need to have two wireless networks to take advantage of the second DSL connection. Correct? We have a lot of computers being used in the household so could put the kids on their own network.
Apparently the airport extreme can not manage a network with two internet connections even if they are connected via separate airport extremes? I have worked at companies that have done this for internet connection redundancy purposes so there must be devices that can handle this.

  • Can I use the pdf fax with a DSL line

Can I use the pdf fax with a DSL line and, if so, how do I get the pdf fax modem to appear in my printer options? No Modems appear in my Modem pop-up menu.
    Thanks,

Should I be able to fax using the internal fax software if I set it up with the proper settings?
Yes, if it's not a purely Digital line, dial that FAX number on your Phone, does it answer with a screech?
Must I disconnect all my other lines in order to use this?
No, you shouldn't need to... do you have DSL Filters on all lines except the DSL connection, like these...
    http://www.twacomm.com/info/DSL_Filters.htm
Oh, it's not clear, do you have 2 actual Lines/Phone numbers, or do they share the same line?

I have an unsuccessful command-line installation of SQL Express 2008 R2. I need to do it to install a new local instance so that a Winforms application could use it (I'm packaging the app thus installing pre-requisites through my installer).

    System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null.
2014-09-08 09:40:17 Slp: Parameter name: InstallMediaPath
I read on the forums that this error can solve by uncompressing before running setup, so here are my two commands. I still have the issue.
    "Resources\SQLEXPR_x86_ENU.exe" /Q /X:"%TEMP%\SESetup"
    "%TEMP%\SESetup\Setup.exe" /ACTION=Install /QS /IAcceptSQLServerLicenseTerms=True /Features=SQL,Tools /InstanceName=MSSQLSAFETIFY /SQLSVCACCOUNT=\"NT AUTHORITY\\NETWORK SERVICE" /AddCurrentUserAsSQLAdmin /SECURITYMODE=SQL /SAPWD="somePassword"
Earlier in log file I see a correct value for InstallMediaPath so am clueless.

Thank you so much for helping. Do I have some incorrect parameters?

I finally found a solution, using a Configuration.ini file. Blog entry dealing with MS SQL unattended setup
I suceeded with a configuration file, adding though two parameters to file, IAcceptSQLServerLicenseTerms="True" and SAPWD="passwordOfMyChoice".
With command line only, I had "path2" parameter null value error, once I added /InstallMediaPath undocumented (?) option to my initial command line switches...
