DSN connection not available in connection manager

Hi -- I am having problems connecting to an ODBC data source with SSIS.
I am trying to connect to a mysql database.  The connection is set up in "Administrative Tools" as a System DSN, and I can sucessfully connect using "Test" from there.
But the connection is not shown as available in SSIS.
In Connection Manager, I create a new ADO.NET connection, choose New, ODBC data provider, but my system DSN connection is not in the dropdown (no ODBC connections are), and if I try to specify it with a connection string
Dsn=ConnectionName;
I get:
Test connection failed because of an error initalizing provider.  Error [IM002] [Microsoft] [ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified.
I have tried recreating it, creating a new data source with a new name, but none of the Dsn's come are seen by SSIS.
To make it more frustrating, it was working just days ago and I don't know what changed...
Any help appreciated,
Mike

The BIDS development environment is 32 bit. So it looks for the 32 bit providers at design time. However, when the package is run in BIDS, it will use the 64-bit providers, as long as the Use64BitRuntime property of the project is set to TRUE.
Outside of BIDS, which set of providers is used depends on which version of DTEXEC you run. There is a 32-bit version and 64-bit version - each will load the matching provider. Something else to be aware of - not all providers have 32- and 64-bit versions. The Jet providers (used for Excel and Access) only have 32-bit versions, for example.

  • "VLAN(s) are not available in Port Manager" in 7613

    Dear Sir,
I got a problem when I try to create a VLAN in a 7613 router. The screen capature like the following:
    router(conf)#vlan 1045
    router(conf-vlan)#exit
VLAN(s) are not available in Port Manager
The VLAN is failed to create. The VLAN range which is failed to create is from 1001 - 1060. Is there any expert that meet the similar problem? and what should I do to solve the problem? so that I can create VLAN 1045?
    Thank you very much!

    Extended Range VLAN - FAIL
I was reading an old post on CCIE talk about extended range vlans and I learned something new.  The post is here:
    CCIE Talk
If  a Catalyst switch has any routed ports then it uses an extended vlan as  an "internal vlan" for that port. Why? I don't know but it's something  to take caution with if you run into any issues.
    Check it out:
    SW1#sho vlan internal usage
    VLAN Usage
Now let's create a routed port:
    SW1(config)#int f0/24
    SW1(config-if)#no sw
Now we have VLAN 1006 taken up:
    SW1#sho vlan internal usage
    VLAN Usage
    1006 FastEthernet0/24
    SW1#
What happens if we try to create or modify VLAN 1006? Let's see:
    SW1(config)#vlan 1006
    SW1(config-vlan)#exit
% Failed to create VLANs 1006
VLAN(s) not available in Port Manager.
%Failed to commit extended VLAN(s) changes.
    00:06:13: %PM-4-EXT_VLAN_INUSE: VLAN 1006 currently in use by FastEthernet0/24
00:06:13: %SW_VLAN-4-VLAN_CREATE_FAIL: Failed to create VLANs 1006: VLAN(s) not available in Port Manager
    SW1(config)#
FAIL. What if we were supposed to use VLAN 1006?  Shut it down, enable VLAN 1006, then re-enable the port.
    SW1(config)#int f0/24
    SW1(config-if)#shut
    SW1(config)#do show vlan internal usa
    VLAN Usage
    SW1(config)#vlan 1006
    SW1(config-vlan)#exit
    SW1(config)#int f0/24
    SW1(config-if)#no shut
    SW1(config-if)#exit
    SW1(config)#do show vlan internal usa
    VLAN Usage
    1007 FastEthernet0/24
The switch uses the next number.

  • Adobe PDF Reader Publisher 'not available' in IE Manage Add-ons

Some users of a website that displays PDFs in the browser are not able to view the PDFs.  These users are using IE9 and Adobe Reader XI on a Windows 7 machine. They have gone through uninstalling, reinstalling, and repairing Adobe Reader XI and have ensured that the IE settings match the IE settings for other users whose setups work correctly.  The only difference is in the Manage Add-Ons.  On machines that do work, the publisher for the Adobe PDF Reader add-on is listed as 'Adobe Systems, Incorporated'.  On the machines that do not work, the publisher is shown as 'not available'.   My gut feeling is that since the publisher is listed as 'not available', Microsoft doesn't trust the add-on and won't run the ActiveX control to display the PDFs in the browser.
How can I fix those systems so that the add-on shows as 'Adobe Systems, Incorporated' on the machines that do not work?  Or how can I get them to work regardless of the publisher listed?  Or is this even the issue of why these machines will not display PDFs in the browser?

They do assure me that they are using the 32-bit version of IE.  I think the add-on doesn't show at all in the 64-bit version.

    Hi,
There are one or two situations that can cause this message:
    - the schema is already correctly configured, or is corrupt somehow (in which case drop/recreate the schema)
    - different versions of Identity Management products have been installed in the same Weblogic domain (for example OID 11.1.1.7 and OAM 11.1.2). In this case, the products must be installed in different domains
    - the environment (CLASSPATH, PATH) is for some reason pointing to, or including, a different domain containing a different version of Identity Management software. In this case, ensure that the environment does not have these references.

  • Reconcile email messages option not available in Desktop Manager

I recently installed the Desktop Manager in an attempt to sync my new Tour with Outlook 07. After going through the install process, I went to the Synchronize option in the desktop manager and the reconcile email messages option is greyed out. I have a home office and do not have a BB Enterprise Server.  In fact, there is not even an Email Settings icon available to me in the Main Menu of the desktop manager.  Any thoughts on how to enable this option? Thanks

That function is not available on a personal BIS account.
You'll need a BES account for email and messages reconcile, to Outlook.

  • Ringtones and background images not available after call manager upgrade

    Hi,
We have upgraded our call manager from version 8.5 to 10.5.  Once after the upgrade we lost all the Ringtones and background images except the two default ringtone and background images.  we got 8945 sccp phones(running 9-3-1 firmware) and 9951 sip phones(running 9-4-1 firmware).  Both these phones lost these list.  However the ringlist.xml is available in the tftp server with all the ringtones and the phones are pointed to the right tftp servers.  I tried to restart the tftp servers and tried again, however that didn't help.   we are using call manager 10.5 and h323 voice gateway.  Could anyone please help on this.
    Thanks
    Barry

    Hi Tony,
I can see the ringtone files in the call manager (osadmin>tftp file mgmt), i have also restarted the tftp services, but it didn't help.  I believe you advised to re-upload the ringlist file (Ringlist.xml) and try again. I will try this and update you.  Please let me know if you have any other suggestions.
    Thanks

  • Uninstall and reinstall not available in download manager

I bought Adobe cloud and installed Acrobat Pro. When I tried to run it there was a problem with the accept screen and it would not allow me to accept. I decided to uninstall it and intended to reinstall it hoping that it would be fixed. However, when I went  to reinstall in the download manager it still thinks it is installed and so I cannot install it again.

  • Address Book Syncrhonization not available in Desktop Manager

    Hi all;
I'm a complete noivce BB user, so apologies if this is an obvious question.
I've synced my Bold's Address Book with my Address Book on my Mac and home and now would like to sync my work contacts through Outlook. However, when I attempt to use the Desktop Manager to do so. There is no option for the Address Book (just Calendar, Addins, tasks and memos).
    Any thoughts?
    Many thanks in advance...
    Doug

Is the Address Book option missing or grayed out? I'm not sure why you're seeing add-ins in the list. In the list with 4 checkboxes there should only be Address Book, Calendar, Memos, Tasks.

  • How do I add a search engine of my own choice (i.e one which is not available among the "Manage Search Engines" add-ons) to the Search Engine Box dropdown?

I'm running Firefox 6 on Windows XP

Glad it worked. Thanks for posting back.
You may note there are some changes coming up with Firefox's searches. In Fx23 whatever you set in the search bar is also used for other searches, so you may get unexpected videos showing up from the address bar.
Further in the future, probably Fx25 the navigation and search bar are being combined. Then there is talk of a new concept of search tabs.

  • 64-Bit DSNs are not displaying in SSIS connection manager

    Hi Team,
I came across an issue while working with 64-Bit SQL Server 2012 version. We installed 64-Bit SQL Server 2012 version on a 64-Bit Windows Server 2012 machine. I created two 'System DSNs' under 64-Bit ODBC driver those are for 'IBM iSeries access ODBC driver'
and 'SQL Server Native client 11.0'.
I was using ADO.Net source to use these DSNs in an SSIS package in BIDS. But these System DSNs are not displaying from the data source drop down list in the connection manager.
Can somebody help me out how i can use 64-Bit System DSN while executing the packages?
    Thanks,
    Venu.

Visual Studio is a 32 bit software so you wouldnt be able to see and use 64 bit DSN, if you want to see them you would have to install the corresponding 32 bit drivers, else complete your development on a diff box and then bring your packages to the 64 bit
    machine,
That said the SSIS runitme can still utlize both the 64 bit an 32 bit run time by the means of how its executued i.e. dtexec from the progamm files or programmfiles(x86) folder

I've been trying to create new Managed Metadata services but get this error when trying to manage them:

    Hi,
I'm not able to access the term store. I get an below mentioned error.
"The Managed Metadata Service or Connection is currently not available. The Application Pool or Managed Metadata Web Service may not have been started. Please Contact your Administrator. "
Since this is happening on my local machine (Dev environment). I have full control on the term store and the all the site collections.
Hence, this is not a permission issue.
I have checked, the Metadata service is active on the machine. All the application pools in IIS is running.
After reading one of the recommendation on internet, I created a new Managed Metadata Service.
After which I was able access both (old and new) MMS from Central Admin only (highlight the MMS from manage service applications and click Manage ) and not from the site collection (term store management).
Now again its not working after I did an IISRESET.
The managed metadata service (Managed Metadata Service Connection) is grayed out.

    Hi Victoria,
    Thanks for your reply
I tried making all the changes you had recommended and which are mentioned in the link you have provided.
I tried making all possible combination of changes to the web.config and client.config files but it does not make any difference to the environment.

  • Error trying to Connect to WSE 2012 R2 with Connector Software - The server is not available

I had to completely reset my MS Surface Pro 3 due to virus activity, so it was wiped and reinstalled. It had previously connected to the Server without
hiccup. Ever since doing this I cannot reconnect using the SERVERNAME\Connect process - it continually fails. I have reviewed the forums and web for a week trying different solutions to no avail. I would appreciate it if someone could advise?
    I have:
Ensured that the Connector Software update is not installed from Installed Updates
Checked the Bindings in IIS Manager against the WSS Certificate Web Service and it is set to SERVERNAME.
Ensured my time on the Client is synchronised
Tried connecting using the original PC-Name and when that didn't work, I have tried a new name and removed the old device from the server.
I have ensured that I am on a Workgroup.
The install process finds the server sets up connector and asks for my network user name and password and then continues for a fair time until it
    comes back with the error”:
"The server is not available/ Try connecting this computer again, of for more information, see Troubleshoot connecting computers to the server.”
I am not sure how much of the log to include as it all doesn’t fit:

I am running a Telstra ADSL modem with a separate Cisco router and Netgear Switch.
I would appreciate any help I can get please as I am a novice and do not understand a lot about the certificate and DNS errors.

Would you please try manually set the DNS address on client NIC to the IP of your server, then try run the connector again?
