Due to ORA-01033, I could not start my BW 3.5 instance
Hello Friends,
I am not able to start up my BI 3.5 instance from SAP GUI.
Error in the SAP Manager console is
"Database: > ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress"
So I shutdown my oracle database, log on as sysdba and applied following commands.
Connected to an idle instance.
SQL> startup

ORA-01589: must use RESETLOGS or NORESETLOGS option for database open
What is this ORA-01589 error all about?
I am still not able to start my BW instance.
Please help me with this.
Thanks & Regards,
-Hardik
Hi Hardik,
This error normally comes due to the inconsistent data file and can be recovered if you are having the current archive files in your oraarch folder.
Shutdown the database first then startup the database as follows:
connect / as sysdba
SQL>startup mount
SQL> RECOVER DATAFILE 'E:\ORACLE\S01\SAPDATA1\SYSTEM_\SYSTEM.DATA1';
Then open the database as below:
SQL>ALTER DATABASE OPEN;
I hope this will solve the problem provided the required archive files are available.
Regards,
Vinayak

Windows could not start DBConsole for new database instance
Hi,
I am getting this error "Windows could not start the OracleDBConsoleOracleInstance2 on Local Computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the system vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 1".
I installed Oracle 11g on Windows 7 and created my 1st database instance (oracleInstance1) successfully with a listener and service configured. I could access this database using DBconsole URL: https://hostname:1158/em.
I see the services started for:
OracleDBConsoleOracleInstance1
OracleOraDb11g_home1TNSListener
OracleServiceOracleInstance1
Next, I created a second database instance (oracleInstance2) and have configured a new service for this database. I am using the same listener as I intend to use one database instance at any point of time.
However, I got this warning message during configuration:
"Enterprise manager configuration succeeded with the following warning - Error starting Database Control. Please execute the following command(s).
1. Set the environment variable ORACLE_UNQNAME to Database unique name.
2. C:\Oracle\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\bin\emctl.bat start dbconsole"
To start the new database console, I stopped the previously running DBConsole, OracleDBConsoleOracle1 and started the new DBConsole OracleDBConsoleOracle2 and get the above error.
When I try to start dbconsole manually using "emctl dbconsole start", it starts OracleDBConsoleOracle1 instead.
I changed environment variables ORACLE_SID=oracle2 and ORACLE_UNQNAME=oracle2
What am I missing here. Please help!
Thank you.968952 wrote:

What am I missing here. Please help!First thing you are missing is showing us what you did. Instead you just described it, and that leaves a lot of room for questions. Copy and paste from a command prompt can work wonders here.
From a command prompt, enter the following:
set ORACLE_SID=oracle2
set ORACLE_UNQNAME=oracle2
set | sort
net start
emctl start dbconsolecopy the entire session, commands and full responses, and paste back here.

"I am using the same listener as I intend to use one database instance at any point of time. "
Doesn't' matter if you use one instance or 100. The listener was DESIGNED to service multiple instances of multiple versions running from multiple homes. It is nothing but a connection broker. A telephone switchboard, if you will. All you need is a single listener, with the default name of LISTENER, running on the default port of 1521. It will handle all the database instances you care to throw at it. More instances than anyone in their right mind would ever put on a single server. Your server will run out of capacity to host additional instances before the listener runs out of capacity to service them. Especially since your 'server' is really just a toy in the Oracle world. -
Could not start the app due to a configuration problem - Launchpad issue
Hi,
When I try to launch a custom app from Fiori Launchpad I get an error could not start app due to configuration problem. Error 500- Internal Server Error.
App works correctly when I try to execute via URL http://XXX/sap/bc/ui5_ui5/sap/zmyfioriui5_v11.
Screenshot of Chrome debugging and lpd_cust attached.
It seems problem with ResolveLink but unable to conclude.
Any Suggestion how to proceed.
Thanks,
MayankHi Mayank,
Few modifications :
For additional information field : ".component" at the end is not required.
Only keep : SAPUI5.Component=sap.ui.demo.myFiori
Check this screenshot :
Also, please don't keep Semantic object name and application alias as same name i.e. ymyfioriui5_v11. Its very confusing.
If above doesn't solve, please confirm below :
ZXXXLPD is your launchpad role in LPD_CUST tcode.
Please use TRANSACTIONAL instead of transactional (might be case sensitive)
Show your semantic object "ymyfioriui5_v11" created in /UI2/SEMOBJ

Error in Fiori Launchpad "could not start the app due..."
Hello everyone,
I am having a previously unseen (well, at least for me) error which raises on a click on the tile "Track Purchase Orders" on the SAP Fiori Launchpad:
"Could not start the app due to an internal error" (see the screenshot attached)
I haven't found any help on this error on Google and SAP portals.
The other applications work fine. So did this one before the implementation of SAP_UI 740 SP09 (before that it was SAP_UI 740 SP08). We applied all the notes specified in this post http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-56967
Components needed for Track Purchase Orders are patched to their maximum levels (UIX01EAP 100 SP03 and SRA020 600 SP05). OData and UI5 services are activated.
Plus, this error doesn't appear in the Gateway error logs (transaction /iwfnd/error_log) so troubleshooting is difficult.
The issue is systematically reproducible and has been reproduced on several computers.
Thanks a lot if you have any insight about this issue!
Best regards,
GuillaumeThank you for replying.
I have inspected the element and clicked on the tile. The network tab is below:
The status seems OK.
The response for ResolveLink:
{"d":{"results":[{"__metadata":{"id":"http://<server>:<port>/sap/opu/odata/UI2/INTEROP/NavTargets('PurchaseOrder-track~68')","uri":"<server>:<port>/sap/opu/odata/UI2/INTEROP/NavTargets('PurchaseOrder-track~68')","type":"INTEROP.NavTarget"},"id":"PurchaseOrder-track~68","shellType":"FLP","postParameters":"","text":"Track Purchase Order","applicationData":"SAPUI5.Component=ui.s2p.mm.purord.tracking","applicationAlias":"TrackPurchaseOrder","applicationType":"URL","url":"/sap/bc/ui5_ui5/sap/mm_purord_tpo"}]}}
I'm surprised that gbapp_poapproval and sra001 OData services are called here (with an intriguing ";mo")... We have found these errors in our /iwfnd/error_log screen after the SAP_UI 740 SP09 patch. Seeing this, we have installed GBAPP002 600 SP6 and SRA001 600 SP4 and activated the OData services but have not tried to use the corresponding apps (meaning that we have not done any other app implementation tasks because we don't really intend to for the moment).
In case the two problems are related, these are the responses to these requests:

Could not start the app due to a configuration problem
Hi Gurus,
I have an issue to be resolved asap, need your assistance.
I have implemented SAP Fiori apps (Approve Purchase Order, Approve Purchase Contract, My Leave Request and Approve Leave Request)
We have only one Gateway system and 3 back end ECC systems.
Gateway Client 220 is integrated with ECC Dev and performed all the configurations and tested successfully.
We have created a new client 320 with a copy of client 220, Integrated 320 client to ECC quality system and performed necessary configurations and while testing Approve Purchase order and Approve Purchase Contract tiles are loading the count from ECC Quality system but when I click on the tile it throws an error "could not start the app due to a configuration problem" and when I click the error ot is being redirected to Client 220.
From the inspect element I found below error
2015-04-13 12:22:13 INTEROP service's ResolveLink operation returned 2 targets for hash '#PurchaseOrder-approve', first one is used. - used target: {"id":"PurchaseOrder-approve~652","shellType":"FLP","postParameters":"","text":"Approve Purchase Orders","applicationData":"SAPUI5.Component=ui.s2p.mm.purchorder.approve","applicationAlias":"ApprovePurchaseOrders","applicationType":"URL","url":"/sap/bc/ui5_ui5/sap/mm_po_apv"}
ignored target: {"id":"PurchaseOrder-approve~65k","shellType":"FLP","postParameters":"","text":"Approve Purchase Orders","applicationData":"SAPUI5.Component=ui.s2p.mm.purchorder.approve","applicationAlias":"ApprovePurchaseOrders","applicationType":"URL","url":"/sap/bc/ui5_ui5/sap/mm_po_apv"} sap.ushell_abap.adapters.abap.NavTargetResolutionAdapter
I did not found any duplicate # key entries in table USOBHASH.
Any response is highly appreciated, thanks in advance
Regards,
SrujanHi Michael,
Thanks for that, I have raised an OSS message to SAP, to seek their assistance on the solution I followed to fix the issue. I have reverted back the changes and reproduced the issue for SAP guys to investigate further, at last they concluded me there is an external alias defined for /sap/bc/ui5_ui5/sap in transaction SICF in GP1/320, which contains a hard-coded client 220.
This is responsible for the fact that the services are redirected/opened in client 220
After removing the client hard-coded in system alaises under /sap/bc/ui5_ui5/ in transaction SICF, I have reverted back the change from "Alternative Logon Procedure" to "standard" in logon procedure of each service and tested, now the issue got resolved.
This could help someone to resolve the similar issue.
Thanks everyone

Fiori leave request error "Could not start the app due to an internal error"
Hi,
I'm getting this error "Could not start the app due to an internal error" when accessing leave request application.
I don't get this error when I login and launch the app for the first time. when I go back to the home screen and select "My Leave Requests" app again, I get this error.
If I close the error message and do a browser refresh, everything is fine again for the first time, if I access the LR app again- same error .
Other apps are working fine.
I don't see any error in gateway or App logs.

Hi
I included in a process flow a PL-SQL function as user defined transformation.
This PL-SQL function resides in my source database, from where I imported it in OWB.
When I am trying the run the Process Flow (from control center manager) I get the following message upon executing that function.
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
When I don't include that function my process flow works. Mappings in my process flow read from the same source database as where the function is.
So I don't think it is caused by a problem with tnsnames.ora..
Thanks in advance for anybodies help.
HansHi Oleg,
Thanks for your reply. Indeed I didn't create a runtime repository.
However don't like to do that to for the source DB.
I wonder if I can get around that by executing a SQLplus script instead.
I tried this but my script does never complete when it is started from the process flow. If I run it in SQLplus it runs fine and completes instantly.
My script does:
update 1 column in one record of a table.
commit;
exit;
What do you think?
Thanks,

Regarding ORA-01102 ORACLE COULD NOT MOUNT DATABASE IN EXCLUSIVE MODE.
Hellow Friends,
I was testing my recovery strategy for control file. Out of two my control files I deleted one and tried to start when oracle gave me error that could not find so and so file in such and such location. I than copied first member which is in other location to the deleted file location. Since than I could not start my database gving me same error ORA-01102.
Yes I can recreate control file because I am having all my other files intact.
Now is there anybody who share knowledge with me to feel me pride of such honour.
Thanks All.
Your Friend.
Sumeet.Hi all
On this - it had me vexed for a while, I was installing
8.1.7 on Solaris 2.9 - but when I went to prep the db,
kept on getting the error 01102.
Found out that if I shut down the db (immediate),
changed the 'remote_password' param to shared then went back in to svrmgr - reshut the database and redid startup pfile=$ORACLE_HOME/etc it cured the problem.
Suspect this is a hangover from 7, when Oracle kept enforcing defaults on setting up dbs, bit like their catalog and catproc scripts, they still have errors that were there in the
year dot.

MSDAORA,IIS,ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name
Hi All,
I have a Web Service that coded in VS2008, using ORACLE DB(9i).
At a time the application working fine and I can access and do everything with database.
Some other time database server is down for scheduled maintenance. If I try to run the application at this point of time it will raise err "ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name".
When i reset iis it start to work fine for a while. Then same problem occurs again.
My connection string is connectionString="provider=MSDAORA.1;data source=***;user id=***;password=***;"
is there any solution?
i tried that;
If theire is multiple copies of OCIW32.dll you have to make sure that there is only one copy of OCIW32.dll which should be in /Bin folder of the oracle home folder.
Add the IUSR_machine name account and the IWAM_machine name account to the Oracle home folder. Give both accounts full control.
Create empty file tnsnames.ora in same directory as aspnet_wp.exe,Hi,
The issue doesnt make much sense on the surface at least. 12154 means the client couldnt figure out what you were referring to with your Data Source= entry. If the database was taken down, I'd expect an "oracle not available" or some other sort of error, as the client should have still be able to resolve the entry at least, even if the database wasnt up at the time.
What do you mean by "When i reset iis it start to work fine for a while. Then same problem occurs again."? The same problem meaning you get 12154 when you take the database down? Or you get 12154 without a db restart?
Are you using TNSNames.ora for client naming resolution, or something else (ldap, for example)?

MDM Adapter: MDM Adapter listener could not start (MdmSecureSocketFactory)
Hi there,
We are running the following versions of the PI MDM adapter:
MDM_ADAPTER 710.700 SP7 (1000.710.700.7.0.20110411174317)
MDM_JAVA_API 710 SP5 (1000.710.0.5.111.20101227095400)
com.sap.mdm.tech.apireset 710 (710.20101227094734.0000)
com.sap.mdm.tech.connector 710 (710.20101227094734.0000)
com.sap.mdm.tech.mdm4j 710 (710.20101227094734.0000)
tc/mdm/adapter/svc 710.700 (8917411)
And the following versions on the MDM Server itself:
SHARED_COMP 7.1.05.104
MDS 7.1.05.104
MDIS 7.1.05.104
MDSS 7.1.05.106
MDLS 7.1.05.99
All the MDM adapters have the same error now:
MDM Adapter listener could not start due to:
com/sap/mdm/net/MdmSecureSocketFactory
Does anyone know what this error means?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
LyntonWas just a version issue, the MDM java API and MDM adapter had different versions.....un-deploying and re-deploying solved the issue.
