Dump: BCD_OVERFLOW showing exception as CX_SY_CONVERSION_OVERFLOW
Hi Experts,
I am getting the dump as BCD_OVERFLOW showing exception as CX_SY_CONVERSION_OVERFLOW. I have tried to go through the standard notes 1151693, 1147593, 754758 & few others. But I am not able to find the note specific to my software component details:

The reason for the exception is:
In the current arithmetic operation with operands of type P an overflow
has been detected. Possible causes are:
1. The result field of type P is too small to store the result.
2. The result or an intermediate result has more than 31 decimal places.
Request you to please suggest me the solution to overcome this dump.

Hi,
If the problem occurs from your cutom programs, ask developer to fix them.
If error from SAP standard program and if you did not made any changes to program, raise product error message with SAP.
If it was SAP standard program and you made any changes by yourself/customer, revert back the changes.

while saving the delivery no in VA02, one dump error getting displayed.
Arithmatic over flow occurs.
Can any one can say how to rectify the program to avoid dump error
The below lines are showing in dump.

The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_ARITHMETIC_OVERFLOW', was not
caught in
procedure "USEREXIT_SAVE_DOCUMENT_PREPARE" "(FORM)", nor was it propagated by a
RAISING clause.
Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the
exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
The reason for the exception is:
An overflow was discovered in an ongoing arithmetical operation with
operands of type P. Possible causes are:
1. The result field of type P is too small for the result.
2. The result or a intermediate result has more than 31 decimal places.
How to correct the error
The result field must be enlarged, if this is still possible. It may
also be possible to break up the current process into subprocesses so
that only smaller values occur.
There may already be a solution to the error in the SAP notes system.
If you have access to the SAP notes system first try searching with the
following keywords:

"BCD_FIELD_OVERFLOW" (Until release 4.0a, this runtime error occurred at this
position)

Information on where terminated
Termination occurred in the ABAP program "SAPMV50A" - in
"USEREXIT_SAVE_DOCUMENT_PREPARE".
The main program was "SAPMV50A ".
In the source code you have the termination point in line 666
of the (Include) program "ZSDI_MV50AFZ1_CRPC_CALC_4QA".
The termination is caused because exception "CX_SY_ARITHMETIC_OVERFLOW"
occurred in
procedure "USEREXIT_SAVE_DOCUMENT_PREPARE" "(FORM)", but it was neither handled
locally nor declared
in the RAISING clause of its signature.

Declare l_w_tot_list_vals-volum as "like vbap-volum" or (preferably) "type volum_ap".
If you're using a packed decimal, you've done something like.... volum(5) type p decimals 2, which is a great way to get an overflow...if you use packed decimals in a program...declare <field> type p decimals <n> without a length attribute, so that SAP can use the full 8 bytes for the calculation.....the put it into a alpha field for display, if needed.... -
CLEAN_REQREQ_UP dumps with "LOG_NOT_FOUND" exception
Hi all,
When I run the CLEAN_REQREQ_UP program, I get a dump with exception "LOG_NOT_FOUND" from the function module BBP_PD_LOG_DELETE. I saw a OSS note 1121892 but the symptom says
"You deleted some Logs with the Transaction SLG2. Afterwards you run the report CLEAN_REQREQ_UP which is ending in dumps with the Function Module BBP_EV_API_EXCEPT_SAVE. The dumps are regarding missing Logs "Exception condition "LOG_NOT_FOUND" raised. ".
We didn't touch the SLG2 transaction. But there was a network problem and the application server and database connection was reset. Any idea why this is happening. How to avoid the dump and run the CLEAN_REQREQ_UP program.

Chart backdrop showing exceptions with colors with line chart on top of it.
Hi, I have the follwoing to create a query and the associated chart.
good 90-100, fair 70-90, poor 0-70
While I can get the chart without any issue, the customer demands the backdrop of the chart has to be
painted with red, yellow and green colors as above ratings and a line chart then be drawn over it showing all other data, 90.2 75.1, 60.9, 82.5.....you guys get what I am saying.
Is that possible in any of the SAP query BI tools, can you all suggest something, any other ideas.

Merging Toolarea in Masthead, showing exception
Hello All,
I am using portal 7 sp9.
I am trying to merge the toolarea within the masthead. I referred the pdf available at sdn named "How to Merge the Masthead & Toolarea" by Sudeep Majumder.
Problem:- I followed the steps mentioned in the pdf but ends up with the exception.

I had already added the jar file named : com.sap.portal.navigation.toolarea_core.jar
to the destination folder path: dist\PORTAL-INF\private\lib
I tried with the original par file project after adding the jar file to it, it worked fine.
Problem: I tried to run the lightheader component which is throwing the exception. When I run default component, it does run without any error but shows no modifications, except the original customized masthead which i am already using.
FYI: I am already using a customized masthead. Does it makes any effect? I am using the same par file to make the new modifications.
Modifications I made: While using the pdf I mentioned above, it says that create the list of sub components under the lightheader component in the toolarea project. But, there is no component with the name lightheader to create the component lists mentioned. So, I created the components in my masthead project. Is that correct?

C++ Tux 6.4 server core dumping when throwing exception
We are having a problem inside a Tux 6.4 server written in C++ on a Solaris box.
Whenever an exception is thrown, the program dumps core. (The same program transformed
into a standalone C++ program functions normally.)
Has anyone else had similar problems??
Is there something that we need to do to avoid the problem??

Don't know whether it could be the same problem, but using Tuxedo 6.5 /
Tru64, throwing any exception caused some strange message to occur (sth.
about locking) and the program abort.
After I prepared some test, BEA provided the patch which helped. -

How to show exception messages in Terminal
Hi all,
I use clang-3.1 in C++11 mode, with -stdlib=libc++, without any IDE, just on the command line.
My problem is: my c++ code is expected to throw exceptions (I'm testing it), but the Terminal does not print out the exception messages. Instead of my nice exception messages (which I see with clang-3.1 on linux), I have things like: "terminate called throwing an exceptionAbort trap:"
How should I act on the environment of the code to display those exception messages? I don't want to change the code.

Core dump on throwing exception
Hi,
I am using an exception class derived from C++ standard exception class (MyException). In this, I am having a member variable of type std::string. I am using this in a DLL that is being used by Java application using JNI.
In my C++ code, I am catching exception following way:
catch(XException& exp)
catch(MyException& exp)
catch(exception& exp)
If I am using std::string as member in MyException class, it results in a coredump whatever exception is thrown (MyException or any other unknown exception supposed to be caught in the standard exception class.). Note that this happens in release build of my dll and never repeatable in debug build.
This problem occurs only in Solaris (tested both in Solaris 7 and Solaris 8). It does not occur in Windows.
Now, if I use char array instead of std::string the problem does not occur!!!! Exceptions are caught properly.
If anyone can throw more light on why usage of std::string causes issues in exception handling in Solaris using CC 5.0 compiler, it shall be of help. I feel problem might be due to not updating the patches related to CC 5.0 exception handling. Also, is it a good practise to use std::string in exception handling classes?C++ 5.0 is very old and is no longer supported. Patches are still available for it, however. You should get the latest patches from
http://access1.sun.com/sundev
and see if that solves your problem. If not, you should upgrade to a supported compiler release.
The standard string class can perfrom dynamic memory allocation and can throw exceptions. It's not ideal for use in exception handling for those reasons. But for ordinary situations when you are not out of memory it' s probably OK. -

Method definition with reflection doesn't show Exceptions
According to the documentation, http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/api/java/lang/reflect/Method.html#toString(), returns checked exceptions. I don't know about checked exceptions, but the following code doesn't give me any exceptions:

Checked exceptions must be declared in the Java throws clause, and are subclasses of Exception which are not subclasses of RuntimeException. The compiler checks that checked exceptions are caught or declared by the calling method, hence the name.
