Make the changes to the playlists, etc., in iTunes then sync the iPhone again. You cannot remove music directly on the iPhone.

  • Duplicates on iphone only

This is very weird!!  Recently synced both mine and husband iphones through iTunes and upgraded the software.  (iCloud was another matter altogether) but since the sync we find that several files are duplicated on the iphones only - not in the itunes library (we have separate libraries)  Also, the icon for the album is missing although on itunes itself it is there.  Can anyone help with this? An exampled of this is - Norah Jones shows in iTunes perfectly - just as she always did - but on the iphone we have a blank album cover - open the album and there are duplicates of each track listed one after the other.  So track 1 is track 1 and plays as track 1, but the next in the list is also Track 1 and plays as track 1 - although this time it has a picture of the allbum???  Check this in itunes and it shows only the correct album with the album picture........  getting a little cheesed off!  I posted similar thread before but without ANY response... please help someone.  (Yes both the Mac and the iphones have been turned on/off)

Morning!  Having search most of the evening I found a thread that helped with removing tracks from the iPhone!  I never knew you could just swipe accross the track and then delete it - so Im off now to go through my iPhone to delete all duplicate tracks that way and then sync again to see what happens!!  Thanks to Katrinas reply back in 2010 - I am now moving forwards.. SM:)

  • Duplicates in iphone contacts won't delete

I have duplicates and triplicates of contacts in my iPhone. My iMac only shows one of each. I tried to delete them in the iPhone, but they don't go away

If you phone is syncing contacts with iCloud, Contacts would be set to On in Settings>iCloud on your phone.  If you are syncing contacts with an exchange account, you would have Contacts set to On in you exchange email account in Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars.  Also, when you open Contacts and tap Groups at the top, you would see groups other than iCloud listed.

  • IPhoto shows and imports triplicates (triple duplicates) of iPhone photos – On iPhone only single photos shown

I recently plugged in my iPhone, only to see that when the contents of the device were shown in iPhoto, there were triples, or "triplicates" of every photo (this put the total around 10,000 photos). Meanwhile, on my iPhone's Photos app, everything looks normal with only single photos being shown.
I toiled over how to remedy the problem, and found I had no other choice but to spend the MANY hours syncing thousand upon thousands of duplicate photos/videos to my iPhoto library. I then broke down and purchased Duplicate Annihilator to clean up my now ruined library. Because iPhoto made all those duplicates, the file size compounded into many gigabytes. Duplicate Annihiliator had to run for hours before finally cleaning things up. It did it's job well, however the root of the problem still remains.
At the conclusion of transferring my entire library of photos from iPhone to iPhoto, I had the photos removed from the iPhone so I could start with a clean slate. I took a few sample photos and plugged the iPhone back in to iPhoto. Yet again, the dreaded triple duplicates, or "triplicates" of each photo I took show in the device preview window (i.e. I took 5, non-HDR photos, and 15 are shown—each repeated three times). If I proceed to import the collection, it imports triple of everything into my library.
Essentially, my situation now is: I have to import multiple copies of everything (takes longer), then I have to run Duplicate Annihilator each time to keep my iPhoto library from being a mess. Just wastes tons of time. How can I keep iPhoto from showing and importing all these multiple copies every time? Again, on the iPhone end, everything looks normal—only a single copy of each photo.
    What I have tried:
    Closing/restarting iPhoto
Checking for iPhoto updates (there are none, I'm on the latest version—which, as of this writing, is 9.2.3 629.52)
    Deleting com.apple.iPhoto.plist from ~/library/Preferences/
Using Image Capture (triple duplicates still show in IC as well)
    Disabling Photo Stream
Removing all photos and albums from iPhone

I am seeing this problem still, even after trying the Photo stream toggle trick that was mentioned. I have one otehr observation to add.
If I "Command"+select the first of each photo in iPhoto and then import those (choosing to Delete after import), then the next refresh of iPhone pictures oniPhoto will show all the photos (including the duplicates) gone. So basically something like this.
    1) iPhoto - I see triplicates of pictures on my iPhone.
    2) Command+Select the first instance of each duplicated picture.
    3) Import the selected pictures. Choose to Delete the pictures after import.
    4) Go back to iPhone in iPhoto. No more duplicates of the pictures I imported.
So this doesn't fix the problem as all the unimported photos still show triplicates, but al least I don't have to run a de-duper on my laptop now to eliminate triplicates.
This eliminates some of the hassle, but it's still a hassle.
I hope someone figures this out completely because it's making me hate iPhoto just a little bit.

  • Photo album duplicates on iphone

I created a folder with the pictures I want to store on the iPhone. I then selected this folder to sync in iTunes. However, now on my iPhone, the folder is duplicated, so I have the same 61 photos in a album called Photo Library, and an album called iPhone (which is the album or folder i created in iTunes).
Any suggestion on how I can undo/fix this?
    thanks!

This is the way iphoto stores photos. It is not really duplicating the photos, it is just creating a reference to them.
Iphoto has one big bin or bucket that it holds all the photos in, then when you create an album, it creates a reference to those photos instead of copying them to a new location and creating a duplicate. So, when you add photos to iphoto it always goes to the photo library and then references them to your album.
On the iPhone it is doing the same thing. it has photo library which has all your photos not matter what album or folder they are in, except camera roll. Then it is treating your folder you did a sync to as your album and creating a reference to the pictures in photo library.
iTunes also works in this fashion. All your music is kept in your music library and then when you create a playlist, it references the music you move instead of creating a new music file.

  • IPhoto still downloading duplicates from iPhone

really cant work this out at all, there seems to be a few persistent photos which get downloaded again to the mac even if ive ticked the box not to download the duplicates. been a problem for a while i even resorted to resetting the whole ipHone a couple of times. still doesnt seem to make any difference.
maybe its cos im using version 6.
    although thats just daft

I am fighting with similar problem. Every time I sync Iphone, iphoto asks whether I would like to download duplicates. Despite putting check in the box, 'apply to all duplicates', and selecting 'don't import, iphoto regularly imports only those four photos with every sync. I have many duplicated of these four photos in iphoto library.
By thew way these are family photos that I received in email and I have new firmware on my iphone.
    Thanks in advance!

  • IPhoto shows and imports triplicates (triple duplicates) of iPhone photos – On iPhone only single photos

I have an iPhone 5S and a Mac desktop all updated to current software releases.  Recently I have uploaded photos from my iPhone and when they appear in iPhoto they were duplicated (last time). This morning I uploaded 200 photos (round #) and got 600 in iPhoto (they tripled).
There are only SINGLE photos on my phone and HDR is turned off. My photo stream is turned off.  In a previous post responders asked "why do you think it is an iPhoto issue?"; well the iPhone only takes a single photo and in every case which is the last four times I end up with double or triple photos in iPhoto. I have had to to cntrl + "click" to select each photo manually to delete.  Super frustrating and as someone who has been an Apple person since the IIe (Apple 2e) I have come to expect things to work correctly.  Spoiled, I know.  Any thoughts on other settings to check or steps to try would be appreciated. I'm not a programmer though so some of the "go into this registry or file and change "X" " may be beyond me.  Thank you in advance!!!

I am seeing this problem still, even after trying the Photo stream toggle trick that was mentioned. I have one otehr observation to add.

  • Ical Duplicate on iPhone any easy way to delete with out computer?

any easy way to delte duplicate Ical entries on iPhone without home computer?

The quick way is when you imprort them to an app on your computer, usually there is the option to delete everything on the phone that was imported.  If you declined that option, then you have to do it one by one or manualy select in edit mode.

  • Can't delete duplicates from iPhone 4S

The thing is I've got duplicates of songs on my iPhone but when I swipe next to them, the delete button doesn't appear. They aren't even the proper songs; when I click on the song, there isn't any album artwork and it misses the song completely and plays a song that hasn't been duplicated. Also, my songs have been bought from iTunes, if this helps!

I found something that I think might work. For some reason, (maybe an iOS 5 issue) the 4s likes to hold information even if deleted from your iTunes. I made the mistake of renaming the folder that contains all my iTunes music/video files. Instead of finding all the locations, I thought it would just be easier to delete my library and reload the newly named folder. This screwed up the music app on my 4s beyond recognition, which, as I understand, is already an iOS 5 issue (ie: misorganized albums, artists, and songs). Well after several attempts of the unsync then resync method I realized that when I would unsync my library I would still have 10 gigs of music on my phone. Come to find out this was the music that was originally in my iTunes that the phone some how held on to. This would not show up under manually manage music and seemed unaccessable. After a little fiddling I found a solution. This may require you to delete all your music and start from scratch (I didnt play around with it too much. Just deleted all the music that was on there). Anyways, unsync your library. You should see that those songs are still alive and kicking in your library. go to "Settings", "General", "Usage". There it will show all your apps and how much data they are currently using. Find your music app, tap edit and delete it. Then just resync your library without those tracks and you should be good.

  • Outlook contacts duplicate on iPhone and all iOS devices

    Hello,
I have been having this issue for quite some time and I have not been able to find anything that would solve my problem besides deleting the contacts manually.
    So here is the deal:
In our business environment we use all kinds of iOS devices (mostly iPads and iPhones). So what happens is (at least in my opinion) outlook somehow duplicates the contacts and since we have the outlook contacts to sync on the phones and ipads, they also duplicate on the user's devices. This issue happens about every 2-3 months. When I go in and delete the contacts manually from Outlook, the contacts from the iOS devices sync with the Outlook contacts and the duplicates disappear, but sometimes I have to go in and manually delete them from the devices as well. It is really frustrating for the users because this issue happens often as I said.
    The issue happens on iOS 6, iOS 7 and on iPhone: 4,4S, 5, 5S, iPad: 2, 3
    What I've tried:
    1. I deleted all the contacts manually and made sure they sync with the Outlook contacts.  - WORKS TEMPORARILY
    2. I turned off iCloud so that the contacts don't replicate among other devices using the same Apple ID  - DOES NOT WORK
    3. I deleted the duplicates and told the phone to sync less often not as soon as there is a change - WORKS BUT AFTER TIME STILL DUPLICATES
    4. I contacted Microsoft for help with the issue and they told me that the issue is probably an iOS issue. - NOT REALLY SURE
Any help would be a appreciated it. I want to solve this issue once and for all.

After getting your Address Book contacts restored on your Mac, the Address Book application includes a simple backup feature.
At the menu bar, go to File and select Back Up Address Book.
The default name for the backup file will be Address Book - (and the date).
Store this file in a safe location - preferably on an external drive used for backup purposes only.
If you ever need to recover all Address Book contacts from the most recent backup file, at the Address Book menu bar go to File and select Revert to Address Book Backup selecting the Address Book backup file.
iCal includes the very same simple/easy backup feature.
Before using a sync type function with any device, creating a backup of the data to be synced is a good idea and should be your very first step. The same before making a number of changes, additions, deletions to the Address Book data. This shouldn't happen so something is wrong but it can happen which is one of the reasons for maintaining a regular backup of all important information.

  • Apple Creating Duplicates on Iphone

When syncing my Iphone, Itunes seems to be duplicating one album in particular. I've tried just about everything I can find in support but nothing is working. When I swipe to delete the songs, the music app crashes and returns me to the home screen. If I press play on one of the songs, it says the same song is being played in the duplicate album. I've tried unticking the artist in itunes, restarting the iphone and then reticking and syncing but it makes no difference. I've tried setting it as a compilaion album - nothing. I'm running an Iphone 5 with iso7.4 and itunes 11.1.4 which is the most recent, and Windows 7, 64bit. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this? It's so frustrating!

This is exactly what happened to me! Now it won't let me access my account at all. I tried to get it to email me a link to reset my password but it still wouldn't work. I no longer have any of my contacts and I can't update any of my apps. I had to create a completely new Apple ID, but I still don't have any of my contacts all because I changed me Apple ID to my current email. Really frustrating...

  • Syncing deletes some contacts in outlook and creates duplicates on iPhone

I've got an odd problem here and I'm not sure how long it's been going on ...
    I have an iPhone 5s running iOS7.0.6
I have a Windows Vista PC running Outlook 2007
    Itunes is V11.1.3.8
I do NOT use iCloud or a Microsoft Exchange server
It is just a local sync. from my PC to my iPhone....
(I was TRYING to keep it simple  )
I have been sync-ing my iPhone to Outlook for some months mostly successfully,
but have recently noticed an odd problem ... a few of my contact records are disappearing from Outlook and being DUPLICATED on the iPhone.
That is to say:  These contact records that have been deleted from Outlook appear TWICE on my iPhone ...
I'm not sure how many records are affected but it appears to be a small number.
I searched but could not find anyone with similar problem .... any suggestions appreciated!

    Hello jimbob5941,
It sounds like you are seeing some unexpected issues when locally syncing Outlook contacts with your phone. I would use the troubleshooting in the following article to help resolve the issue, named:
Troubleshooting Sync Services on Windows with Microsoft Outlook 2003, Outlook 2007, or Outlook 2010
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2776
Here are the first couple of steps to get you started, but there are additional steps if you need them in the article:
Make sure your software is up to date
It is recommended that you use the latest version of your software:
Use Windows Update to keep your computer up to date.
Use Apple Software Update to keep your Apple software used during syncing up to date.
Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software.
Which option are you using to store your data in Microsoft Outlook?
By default, your Outlook data is stored in Personal Folders format (PST) unless you are using an Exchange Server to access your data. If you are using Outlook with an Exchange Server, your data may be stored in an OST file if you have Cached Exchange Mode turned on. An iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch syncing via iTunes will sync with the default PST or OST file. When using an OST file, only information stored locally, or cached on your computer, will be available to sync.
Note: You may be able to sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch directly with your Exchange server. For more information on syncing directly with an Exchange server, contact your Exchange Administrator. There are resources for Exchange Administrators, including the iPhone Enterprise Deployment guide onwww.apple.com/support/iphone/enterprise.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Regards,
    Sterling

  • IP Address Is Duplicate and iPhone Won't Connect

Everything was working for last 2+ years, then my modem died yesterday. I replaced it, but can't get back to where I was. I ended up restoring network to factory settings and then doing connection.
I have AT&T DSL service. When setting up the connection with my AirPort Extreme, have Ethernet with Bridge Mode. I receive message that "another device on the network is using your computers IP address." I didn't have this issue when setting up 2+ years ago. So, I manually changed the IP address, but this caused a message about DNS not being correct, which I ignored, because this at least gave me access to Internet, and I didn't have to "borrow" from one of my neighbors unprotected networks. I have implemented WPA2 security (which I had prior to this also).
    Issues I now have are:
    - iPhone won't connect, and it did before all this
    - HP Photosmart printer (which is wireless) also won't connect, as it did before
I assume that all my issues are from not configuring correctly, and that it revolves around the IP address conflict.
    Any assistance?

You need to do a Factory Default Reset on the AirPort Extreme (AEBS) to clear out all the old settings and IP conflicts.
Pull the power plug on the AEBS
Hold in the reset button and while you continue to hold it in, plug the power back in to the AEBS
Release the reset button after 10 seconds.
Open AirPort UTility and set it up again to Create a wireless network.
It's easiest to click Continue and follow the guided setup.
Ignore the Double NAT message when/if it appears.
I know this works. I have the exact same equipment on my desk now.

  • Shows duplicate on iphone 5

Just replaced my iphone 5 because damaged my other one.  When I was looking thru my music after syncing it up with itunes i notice maybe 10 - 12 songs came out duplicated on my phone.   I tried resyncing but no luck so swipe the music of the phone and it work, but here is the catch when my phone is connected to macbook pro those songs show in a lighter color and duplicated when you click on the ON THIS IPHONE tab.  It will not let me delete these songs.  Any help would be appreciated !!!

Thanks for trying Alex, but it still does not work for me.
I think something bigger is wrong?
Ical will not let me transfer the data to iCloud and I keep getting this error message (see image)
On my phone, after following the suggestions you sent me, I turned off time zone support on all devices
I still have a red marker line on the iphone for the NY time zone - even though everything is set to eastern EU.
I feel terrible with this silliness,  as I was perfectly content with ical and computer - once I started iCloud, it all went nuts.
Currently I cannot schedule things at all - please help !

  • GMail show's duplicates in iPhone Mail, need help...

    Heya,
So I connected my iPhone's Apple Mail to GMail's service, and it always shows twice as many unread messages as I actually have. I'm assuming this is because Google's brilliant "label" structure, but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and knows a solution? Thanks!

I just started having this same problem a couple days ago. I'm assuming this is a google issue as I've changed none of my settings. Emails show up fine in Apple Mail on my computer. This is only happening on my iPhone.
