Dv4-1222nr won't turn on lights blinking and hard disk light doesn't come on

My dv4-1222nr was working fine last night but this morning is something different.  I turned it on and received a blank screen with caps and scroll lights and dvdr blinking and a funny sound as if the dvdr was trying to come on.  I have taken out the battery, removed and put back the ram, and plugged in the ac cord without the battery too.  sadly nothing has worked does anyone know what causes this problem and is there a way to fix it?  I hope its not the hard drive that has to be replaced  i didn't back up any of my stuff. Now something freaky just happened.  As I'm typing this the laptop turned on by itself with the caps lock and scroll still blinking please help....

Hello, I'm having similar issues with my Hp pavillion DV7. I've always had to have the cord plugged in for the longest, and just recently would have to rig the cord into specific positions or else the LED light would remain off. My Laptop  would randomly turn off, so I assumed It was the cord. I tried to fix the inside of the charging outlet inside the computer, but now the light won't turn on at all. I removed the battery and It hasn't made a difference, I'm scared to press the hidden button because I don't know if it would wipe my hard drive or not, and I don't have any money yet... Also my DVD drive doesn't always work either. I bought this Laptop in 2008-09 as you may have guessed I cannot afford a new one, I have many issues but I can't have It checked since my mother's car broke down. If I need replacments I would appreciate prices since I'm only a teenager... I have several problems with the laptop and I'm desperately in need of a quick fix. (I'm running behind on a scedule that requires to be complete before 2014) My computer runs super slow and freezes, shuts down, crashes and is used by all 4 of our family members I CANNOT wipe the hard drive, and I need professional Help!

My Mac book pro won't turn on at all and when i put it to charge the light blinks, what should I do?

Yes if your model MBP has a removable battery.  If it does not:
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

Ipad 4 won't turn on at all, and is recognized by itunes as being in recovery mode- when I try to restore it stalls on the portion stating "preparing device for restore" and on the page it says "itunes is restoring the software." Been like this for a day. I read the restore notes on apple, but this seems to be a little more unique than the standard recovery issues. Any ideas as to why I seem to keep stalling during the restore process?

Couple of things I can think of before going to the Apple store.
First, if you can, power off the iPad. Then connect it to the charger that came with the iPad and plug that into a known good wall outlet. Leave it there at least an hour then try to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.
Also, you mentioned you have the latest iTunes. But it would be good to check the actual version. If the iPad is running iOS 7 you need iTunes 11.1 or later.

You can work through the five 5 R's of troubleshooting to rule out the possibility of corrupted software.

It might also be a good idea to let the iPod's battery fully drain. Then charge it back up and restore it once more in iTunes.
Otherwise, it's likely a hardware issue with the iPod's LCD display, meaning you'll need to take or send your iPod in for service either via Apple or a third party repair service. Here is Apple's repair pricing.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/
Note that they don't actually repair the device, but exchange it for one of the same generation, model, and capacity.  A third party service will actually replace the damaged part for a little less.  Google "iPod screen repair" and you should get a number of results to work with.

  • My iPod touch won't turn on at all and if fully charged

My iPod touch won't turn on at all and it's fully charged, what can I do?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Hp dv4-2112tu no boot no display , ram and hard disk are ok and checked, shows caps num led blinking

    Hello Sir/Madam,
    I have HP DV4-2112TU
My laptop doesn’t boot completely and shows blank black display. CPU fan running normally and hard disk rotating normally.
Battery charging is ok and charging-power led glows normally. Caps lock and Num lock led flashes 3 times and then wait for one second and then flash again and so on. Laptop is stucked in booting process.
I have checked both of my RAMs and Hard Disk in Another Laptop. All are working fine and shows no issues.
I have also checked my laptop installing new RAM in both ports (simultaneously) and a new Hard Disk but Laptop shows same problem - no display no boot.
I showed my laptop at an authorised HP Service Centre... they told me that the problem is related to my Hard Disk....But this is wrong Because a faulty hard disk is never cause no display and no boot and even no BIOS POST message. They told me wrong cause of fault because I have checked Hard Disk and it is OK.
Can anyone tell me what are the issues related to my Laptop..... …..
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
The 3 blink pattern does correspond to issues with the memory modules, see the document below:
Computer Does Not Start and Emits an LED or Beep Code
Since it sounds like you've done everything possible to eliminate the memory modules themselves as the source of the problem.  Based on your description, I'd agree that the problem is probably not the Hard Drive.  Which unfortunately leaves us with a problem with the Motherboard as the only component that might be implicated and that hasn't been changed out yet.  It could be as simple as a bad connector, or something less easy to detect in the logic on the board, but either way, it seems like it would need to go back to a service center for repair.

  • SOS help please. Macbook Pro won't turn on. Blinking Light

Hello to everyone this is my first post here and sadly its about a problem with my macbook pro.
The notebook in question is a 17'' Macbook Pro I bought in September 2008.
I simply closed it (without turning it off, just let it go on sleep) and took it with me as usual and when I tried turning it on again, it would not turn on.
I press the power button and I hear the hard drive/superdrive (not sure which of the two) start up and I see the sleep light turn on but after a few seconds its turns off again. If I hold the power button down for a few seconds the sleep light starts blinking and then the notebook turns off once more. In all cases the screen is black.
I tried everything here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1365 and tried removing and re-installing the RAM and nothing changed.
Short of trying to re-install the RAM again I have no idea what to do. I won't be able to visit a Genius until after the 5th so any ideas/suggestions?

see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2674 and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2341 for some information about beeps and flashes.
In your case, though, jinnes, the slow blinks suggest that the computer is simply refusing to wake up from sleep.
One possible, though unusual, cause of this can be if you are using the computer with it stacked on top of a macbook. In this case the magnet in the macbook underneath activates the Hall effect switch in the MBP, making the latter think the lid is closed, and preventing wakeup. I've had this happen to me and it is quite unnerving at the time! Simply moving the MBP will fix it. see http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2917
The same effect could be generated by proximity to other magnets.
It is also possible , if this is not your situation, that the hall effect switch in your MBP is actually defective. It may be worth trying simply opening and closing the lid a few times to see if you can get it to activate.
    Cheers

Thank you for your detailed troubleshooting attempts.  Very helpful.  Sorry, I cannot read "logs."  My eyes just glass over on those things.  Hopefully, a knowledgeable user will come along shortly to decipher for you.
I noticed from the pics that your location setting is "untitled."  Have you tried the "Automatic" setting?  Run the diagnostic test?  Results?
    Try the basics first:
Change your router channel number.  Most times this works & is all you have to do.
Disconnect & reconnect your modem.  unplug it for about 10 seconds.  Plug it back in.  Do the same for Apple’s routers.  Wait for everything to reboot.
    System Preferences>Network
    Click the Assist Me button.
In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.
Research Knowledge Base for network problems that pertain to the OS that is currently installed on your computer.   See these basic networking KB Articles:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1401 AirPort troubleshooting guide

  • Pavilion G2-b27SA Laptop Won't Boot - Fan Whirs and Hard Disk Light Comes On but Nothing Else

    Hi
My Pavilion G2-b27SA laptop won't boot. The fan whirs, the hard disk and wirless lights come on but nothing happens on-screen and the fan goes quiet after a couple of seconds (to a low whir).
I've gone through and tried the solutions in this thread - http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-e-g-Windows-8/Laptop-will-not-turn-on/td-p/102825 - with no luck. Specifically, I've tried a hard reset and hitting F10 when the laptop tries to boot. Neither has had any effect.
Is there anything else I can try to get the computer working again? If I take it to a laptop repair shop (I'm out of warranty) will they be able to do anything, or is it effectively dead now?
Thanks in advance for your help.

The laptop can always be fixed if you have a bottomless wallet. On a no-start with flashing lights it is likely the motherboard and a motherboard replacement if you have the shop buy the board and bill you for labor will be about $300 give or take 25%. Before we give up, it could be bad memory or a few other less expensive things. Assuming they do not charge too much just to diagnose it; take it to the shop.

My Ipod shuffle won't charge and isn't recognized by the computer , it turned orange than stopped and won't charge or turn on since. Does anybody has a solution please ?

I have exactly the same problem with both my ipod shuffles. That suggests to me that it is a problem with the ipods rather than my PC or computer software. I'm surprised that no Apple tech has suggested a solution yet.
