Dynamic filename for stdout from cron

OL 5.6 x86-64
I'm looking for a way to dynamicly specify a filename for stdout from a cron job.
From a command line, this works fine:
/home/estevens/bin/x1 > /tmp/estevens_x1_log.`date +%F_%H%M%S`Producing the desired output:
estevens:dwdev$ ls -ltr /tmp/est*
-rw-rw-r-- 1 estevens estevens 96 Aug 13 10:23 /tmp/estevens_x1_log.2012-08-13_102356But when I put that in my crontab:
12 * * * 1 /home/estevens/bin/x1 > /tmp/estevens_x1_log.`date +%F_%H%M%S`I get this result
/bin/sh: -c: line 0: unexpected EOF while looking for matching ``'
/bin/sh: -c: line 1: syntax error: unexpected end of file(Result comes to me in an auto-generated email)

The % sign has a special meaning in cron. A % is used to denote a new line in a crontab entry. You will simply have to escape the % signs and it should work, for instance:
<pre>
12 * * * 1 /home/estevens/bin/x1 > /tmp/estevens_x1_log.`date +\%F_\%H\%M\%S`
</pre>

  • Passing EDI filename for 850 from B2B Gateway to BPEL

    Hi,
Is there any way to pass the EDI filename for 850 from B2B Gateway to BPEL via AQ? we want to store the inbound filename in the database along with the PO.
    we are using 10g.
    Thanks,
    Naveen

    Hi Naveen,
Generally this could be done using the message id only as mentioned by ew. Just what you need to do is to lookup in the table and find the payload corresponding to that message id.
However, WORKAROUND would be to use "Preserve Filename" feature of 11g B2B (which works only for FILE,FTP and SFTP transport protocols). In this case you have to pass the filename in the header "ACTION", as mentioned by Nitesh.

    Hi All,
Can anyone answer to some of my quesries which are as follows
    a) . Currently Iu2019m working on an IDOC-to-File scenario in which I need to create zip file on file server by using a payload value.  I

My question is can anyone explain or provide me the step by step procedure in detail for the prerequisite which are mention in the weblog, i.e.
u201CAssuming that the following have been done and configured.
1.A value table has been created in the ABAP stack of the WAS in which XI is running and the entries as the file types, which will be written into the files are maintained.
2.Create a number range object in SNRO transaction in the same ABAP stack which will be having the sub objects as the file types maintained in the value table with their number ranges maintained. u201C
    b) .Can we use all mapping techniques (ABAP, Java, XSLT and Graphical) in a single scenario if yes then how to trigger them and which one executes much faster?

Hi  Use dynamic configuration UDF to create file name dynamically.its very easy search in sdn you will find the code, even you can create file directory name dynamically.
In receiver file communication channel if you use PayLoadZipBean it will do Zipping of your message, for this you need to add this bean name additional parameters section in Receiver Channel.
If you want to create zip file based on pay load value check the condition at mapping level based on that call the service,if you not required zip file in other case for that you need to create one more file receiver communication channel.

not claer, can you explain bit more

We can use all mappings single scenario, how mean just add the mapping names in Operation/Interface mapping.
As per my understanding Message Mapping works faster then JAVA then XSLT then ABAP,but it depends on how many lined of code you written.
    c) .Can we trigger an RFC asynchronously and how?
Yes we can use RFC Asynchronous, search in sdn you will find it,if unable to find let me know.

  • Scheduling: dynamic filenames (for email attachment) possible?

    Hi,
I'm using BOE XIr 3. I have a question about the scheduling feature in the Java sdk:
I'm trying to stamp the run date to the name of the file being attached to the scheduled emails.
    E.g. financialReport_12012008.xls
    Currently, I use
    SMTPOptions.getAttachments().add("application/xls","financialReport");
    to set the filename.
Is there anyway to make that filename followed by the date when the report is sent out (not the date when it's scheduled)?
    Thanks much for any help!
    Tuan

If you can do it in InfoView, then you can do it in code.
I think the time holder is something like "filename%SI_STARTTIME%" but I recommend trying scheduling it in InfoView to check.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

    Hi,
As you can see, we can use a variable to get dynamic FileName for the report or attachment only when the subscription is using Windows File Share delivery extension. However, you can implement a custom delivery extension to achieve your goal, please see:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms154050.aspx
Besides, you can refer to the Printer Delivery Extension Sample provided by SQL Server Reporting Services Samples:

  • Call ABAP program from Unix script passing dynamic filename

    Hi,
Does anyone know if it is possible to call an ABAP program from a Unix script passing a dynamic filename to the ABAP program?
We are receiving a file from an external company and on receipt of the file want to call an ABAP program passing the filename.  The filename is made up of File ID, Date and Time which we need to read in the ABAP program.  We usually use Events to trigger a program which is fine when the filename if static however since this filename will be dynamic we cannot do this.  In addition we cannot just rename the file to a static name in the Unix script as we need to know the value of the date and time from the file ID in the ABAP program.  I can change the ABAP program to check our /in directory for a Filename that starts with the fixed File ID however I thought there must be a better way of doing this.  We want the external company to put this information in a file header record but they don't want to change the file contents.  Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Sinead.

You could follow the following method
1.Let the external file reside in the SAP application layer in a defined path e.g. /usr/sap/tmp/interface/working/
2.Write an ABAP program which will include the following steps:-
       i) read all files in the file path using function module EPS_GET_DIRECTORY_LISTING
ii) Read the data from files existing in the directory using OPEN_DATASET statement
iii) After the files have been read move the files to another directory e.g. /usr/sap/tmp/interface/backup/ or you can delete the file.
3.Schedule this program to be executed depending on the frequency of the external file being generated.

Is there any other log I should check for a clue on this issue?  What could be causing this error?

Thanks for sharing that!  I tend to save contacting MS support until after I've exhausted other options.  I'm always afraid that I'll spend the $500 to open a case and then it turns out to be something simple that I would have found if I had just
kept working on it myself a little longer.
It looks like that link is for an update released in February as KB3023562.  I downloaded and installed it. I'll try opening/editing/saving the task sequence a few times today to see if the issue is resolved.
After I had already installed it, I thought to look up that update in configmgr.  The update is listed as superseded by 2 other updates.  The newest of those is KB3046049, which just installed last night with the other March patches, so it's possible
that I didn't need to install KB3023562 after all.

  • Automated tool to convert from Forms to Dynamic Page for Oracle Portal?

    Hi Experts,
We are thinking to convert majority of the forms in our portal to dynamic pages. Is there any tool to automate the conversion from Forms to Dynamic page for Oracle Portal 9.0.4.1.0?
    Thanks, Abbas

    Dear Abbas,
You seem to have two issues... ;-)
If you are finding the Forms are getting corrupt very easily, I'd suggest you go and open a Service Request into Oracle Support (http://metalink.oracle.com). There are a couple of ways where you can have these not corrupted (depeding on the Portal version you are in) and if there isn't yet a way you may get a bug logged and fixed within the next patchset eventually (improving the product functionality).
As to changing it to a dynamic page it might give you a bit more flexibility... yeah. It really depends on what you desire to do. I'd slowly start to code them in this way if your goal is this. As to the former coded forms unfortunately as I've said there isn't a strait way to do that, so you may do this slowly in time...
I hope it helps you a bit further...
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Dynamic Filename in Fileadapter

    Hi all,
I like to use the new feature (SP15) of the "Adapter Specific Message Properties" but with out success. I have read Michaels Blog "XI: The same filename from a sender to a receiver file adapter - SP14" but it give me not a clue how to use these properties during the normal receiver configuration and also the manual is not very clear about it. I have set a Variable with "FileName    message:FileName" (I have tried also "message:File_Name") Than I have used this filename Variable in the field "Filename Schema" like %FileName%. But I allways got this error: com.sap.aii.adapter.file.varsubst.VariableDataSourceException: Unknown message header category 'FileName' for variable 'FileName'.
What have I missed out here?
    Thankx
    Manfred Schmidt-Voigt

    Hi Manfred,
The dynamic filename generation concept is as follows.
In your filename field. just give a variable with % symbols. (eg: %file% ).
Now, under the option Variable Name Substitution, you can give how the value has to be created.
It can be your interface name, sender service name, etc or it can be some value dynamically from your payload.
    For the former, your give
    message:interface_name ,etc
and for the payload part you give,
Payload: "your element root which u wanna acecss"
    Just check this link out,
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/bc/bb79d6061007419a081e58cbeaaf28/content.htm
And read the contents under variable substitution and it will help you understand the concepts better.
If you have any clarifications, do get back,

  • Dynamic Filename in BPM process (SOAP with attachm. and PayloadSwapBean)

    Hello together
I have the following BPM process:
    1. IDoc=>WebServiceRequest
    2. WebServiceResponse (payload) => IDoc
    3. WebServiceResponse (attachment) => File
XI receivs an IDoc an map it to an WebService. The Webservice is called by XI and we receive the WebServiceResponse including a PDF attachment.
The challenge is to store the PDF attachment with a dynamic filename from the payload of WebServiceResponse.
We use the PayloadSwapBean to change the payload to the PDF attachment. But then we are not able to access the required information on the original WebService-XML-Response via variable substitution.
Is there a solution in the standard or have we to use a custom adapter module?
    Thx
    manuku

    Hi Jayasimha,
We can do this by "Adapter Specific Message Properties" of ur comunication channels.
1.If u want to keep the output filename same as input filename, no need to use the UDF. only the 'adapter specific parameters' in both sender n receiver file adapter will do that.
In case if u want to get the filename inside our mapping we have to create a user defined function
which will return the filename and map it to one of our XML tags. 2nd point gives solution 4 that:
    2. If u want to generate an output file taking some input from the payload, then u hav to use the UDF.There u hav to populate the name.
Pretty much.... if you set an attribute from the sender side, for example, you can use a UDF and access the particular attribute sent and use it in the mapping. In another example, where no attributes are sent from the sender, you can still actually set a particular attribute, say a filename derived from the payload, using a UDF, and enable the receiver attribute to use it. That's where the UDFs come in - either to get or set particular adapter specific message attributes.
This will be a very helpful blog which solves ur query:
