Dynamically Convert  to Sales UOM in Sales Order

Hello,
Our customers sometimes send us purchase orders in a Unit of Measure that is different than our Sales Unit of Measure for a material.
Custoemr service would like the system to convert from the Customers UOM on the Purchase order to the Sales UOM of the material.
For example, they will request 500 lbs of material 555123. We sell this material in bags that weight 55lbs each.  So in reality we need to sell them 10 bags of material which is actually 550lbs.  What they would like is if they entered 500 lbs in the Standard Order, the system would convert this to 10 bags.
I was looking in MM Basic Data > Additional Data > Alternate UOM to see if this could be setup there.  But I still cannot determine if this is possible.
Can someone please let me know if this concept is possible in Customizing and if so, where should I investigate.  Thanks very much.

Thank you for your replies.  I have been investigating the rounding profile prior to this post and though they may be a possible solution.
Does anyone know for sure though if a Customer Service agent enters 500lbs in the Sales order if this will convert this to the Sales UOM?
The reason I ask is that I found an SAP Note 453347 that states "In the sales order, the system always uses the quantity entered on the item overview even if alternative units of measure exist."

  • UoM at sales order is EA...

    Hi,
UoM at sales order is EA. while at delivery, I want to display UoM as KG & again at invoice it should be EA. How to configure this?
considering 1 EA = 1 KG as conversion maintained at Mat Master.

    Hi,
In one of the SD views in the material master, you have the possibility on the bottom to say : delivery unit 1 KG.

  • Changing UoM in Sales Order

    hi,
I'm trying to create a sales order, by default the Sales Unit of Measure gets the BuM, (e.g. pc).
In the Material master, conversion from box to pc is maintained.
Now, I'm trying to change the Sales Unit to box, but the system won't allow me, it says " Sales unit is not defined for item "
Can you tell me where else to look at, so that in the Sales Order, we can enter other unit of measures?
    Thanks,

    Hi Kapil & Sanjay,
    Thanks for the quick response...
there is already a unit of conversion in the material master additional data.. the Sales unit var is unticked.
actually, if I input sales unit "box" in the material master, when I create the Sales Order, by default it becomes box.  But when I change it to "PC" which is the BuoM, it will not accept and tells me, Sales unit is not maintained for the item...
Is there any other settings I need to check aside from the two you mentioned?
maybe a setting in sales document or sales item category regarding not being able to change the unit of measure?
    Thanks,

  • Sales UoM

    Hi All,
    I've the following requirement:
    1) For the same material: for diff customers, the sales UoM has to be different.
    2) in the same SO, 2 diff materials to have different UoM.
How do I handle this? pls give as many options as possible..
    appreciate quick responses..
    Regards,
    Raghu.

    Hi Raghu,
The sales UOM is only a proposal in the sales document, you can change it to another sales unit (for example the base unit).
Therefore you might want to change manually or automatically it to the desired value.
IMHO one should try to respect the logistic unit for for the sales UOM. If you ship in boxes, then enter the sales orders in boxes. If you ship individual units, then enter individual units, etc.
The pricing UOM is different, so you can sell and ship boxes, but determine the price based on price / unit.
For a consulting customer, I did a special user-exit to check for consistency. Therefore individual consumer units (sub-logistic unit) were only allowed in credit notes and debit notes, not for sales orders.
This way low-level picking was avoided and we only had deliveries with "logical" UOMs.
In case of EDI invoice, I believe it is better to maintain the "logistic" unit in the sales order and dynamically change the unit in the EDI invoice in case it's needed.

  • Sales uom Vs Pricing Uom control

    Hai Gurus,
In sale order material having sales unit 100 Feet , but in Pricing condition user made a mistake 1 EA = 100 Rs(but actual is 1feet = 100 Rs. That material having alternate uom conversion. 10 Feet = 1 Ea. So, system automatically convert the wrong calculation(ie.10 Rs).
Is it possible to stop sales uom differ from Pricing Uom.
    Regards
    R.Udayakumar

    Hi Udaykumar
As you are telling 1 Feet = 100 INR but the end user maintained 1EA = 100INR. So in MMR->basic data1 ->click on additional data ->click on UoM there you change it the UoM as 1Ea = 10feet
As far as price is concerned check in VK12 what you have given for the material EA or Feet , Assuming that you have given EA. So when you create a sales order then go to item data->conditions tab-> Manually change the Uom to Feet , If you want to calculate the price in feet only

  • Wrong Sales UOM in Article and Billing document

    Hi,
We have an issue in Aggregated Sales Idoc Posting. There is an article which is having Base UOM as "EA" . It has "CAR" = 12 EA.
So 2 UOMs are there. From POS when the file is posted with 1 CAR , in SAP Billing and Article documents created only with "EA" and not with"CAR".
In Aggregated "WPUUMS" IDOC,Sales UOM field is there and we checked the Idoc and it contains "CT" for CAR as Sales UOM , but while posting ,it takes the Bases UOM. In this case "EA". Its posting the right quantity as 1 for CAR.
    Please help

  • Sales Uom And Packaging Uom(Sales)

    Hi experts
My company sales seed packaged in Packets(pkt) as well as Bales
A bale has 12 packets. How can I set up so that when one enters for example 2 bales, this should automatically be equated to 24packets. I have set the inventory UoM to packets(pkt)
When I set the Sales Uom to Pkt and set Items per sales Unit to 12, SBO does not allow me to sell for example 3 pkts
Again if is set Bales as a packaging Uom(sales), When I type 3 bales for example in the no of Packages, it has no effect the quantity of packets
How do i set up so as to be able to sell both pkts and bales and have the inventory updated correctly

    Hi Ezekiel,
You can set the Sales UoM as Pkt and in the Item per sales unit, you can select as 12 (according to the example that you have given). While adding sales order document, if you want to sell the item as 2 bales = 24 packets, just select the Base Units frm the Form settings and select no (it comes as default), which will reduce your stock wth 24 and if you want the to sell only 2 paclets, select the Base units as Yes. Try and run this in test database, it will clear your doubts. Hope this helps.

  • Copy closed or cancelled sales quotation to sales order

    2007A SP0 PL49
It is possible to copy a closed/cancelled sales quotation to a sales order. It is also possible to copy to sales order several times. What is the reason for this? Has this always been the way it works?

Yes it's possible and been around since we started with SAP 2005A. We use sales quotes extensively and treat them like standing orders.  We have customers that order the same items over and over daily/weekly, and rather than have to key in those sales orders over and over we use the document generation wizard to copy sales quotes to sales orders based on UDF we have added.
If you want closed sales quotes to be blocked from adding to a subsequent document I am sure this can be done with stored procedures.

  • Sales office and sales group are not copied from quotation to sales order

    Hi All,
I have maintained sales office and sales group in quotation maually at header level.while  coping to sales order sales office and sales group are missing.
Please let me know what would be reason for missing those twoand whether i should check anything in copy controls.
    Regards
    Mohan

As its a standard functionality to have the Sales Group & Sales Office from Quotation to Order. But in your case, check the Copy Control settings at Header Level .
DataT 051 General header data       Copying requirements 001 Header-same customer
    DataT 101 Header business data
    DataT 001 Partner header
In case , they are also same, then check if any Logic is added in the Existing Routine.

  • Unable to remove/change sales tax in sales order

    Hi Sappers!!
I are unable to remove sales tax from a sales order.  I have tried to update the sales order by clicking on Header>Conditions Tab>Update-->Double click on G to redetermine the taxes.
The sales order was entered the same day the Vertex record was input.
    Appreciate your pointers and time!!

    Hi,
If you want to remove the sales tax from sales order,
first of all  goto FTXP, give the country, for which you want to change the tax code percentage, and give the tax code and press enter, there it will show existing the tax percentage for that condition type (say earlier it was 10%). Now you want to make it 0% then remove 10 and put it as 0 and save it.
Next goto condition record VK12 maintaine new tax percentage which you want to change. Like earlier 10% was there but you want to make it as 0%, then maintaine in VK12 tax condition record.
Now goto your sale order in change mode VA02, and update the procedure using G, then the new tax willbe reflected i.e., 0% will come.
    Hope this is clear
    Reward if helpful

  • Sales office and sales group compulsory when creating a sales order

    Hi,
When creating a new sales order, I would like to have the sales office and sales group compulsory.
Does anyone know where is the customizing point?
    Thanks for your help,
    Ronan

    Dear Ronan,
Spro --> Img --> Sales and Distribution --> Basic Functions --> Log of Incomplete items --> Define Incompleeness Procedure (T. Code: OVA2)
Here, Select Group as A - Sales Header
and double-click: Procedures (left hand Dialog Structure).
On to next screen, select Incompleteness Procedure "11" and double click: Fileds  (left hand Dialog Structure).
On to next screen, include Table-Filed as:
    1. VBAK - VKBUR (for Sales Office) and
    2. VBAK - VKGRP (for Sales Group)
for both the entries, select Scr. as "KKAU" and Status as 01 and check Warning.
Note: To make changes in to InCompleteness Procedure, click: (CTRL+F1)
Recommendation: Please save chnaged Incompleteness Procedure as Z - procedure; to avoid changes in to Standard Procedure.
    Now,
Spro --> Img --> Sales and Distribution --> Basic Functions --> Log of Incomplete items --> Assign  Incompleeness Procedure --> Assign procedures to the sales document types (T. Code: VUA2)
Here, assign your Order type (say, OR) to your Incompleteness Procedure (say, Z - Procedure)
Check Field: IC-Dialog as per requirement (Clck the field and press F1, to read its usage).
Now, Go to, T. Code: VOV8; and select your Sales Doc. Type (say, OR).

Before that check in tables VBAK (Header data) and  VBAP (Item data) , wheather your sales order exists.

  • Sales tax on online orders

I am unclear on the sales tax situation for online orders of iPads.
Will I be charged sales tax if I order an iPad thru the Apple online store?
If online orders are sales tax free why are there so may people lining up at stores to buy iPads (and other products for that matter) which will end up more expensive?

Whether or not Apple (or any online merchant) collects and remits sales tax depends to a large extent on whether they have a retail presence in the state (in this case, if there are Apple Stores there). Another factor is whether the company does enough online business there that the state chooses to expend the resources to collect sales taxes even without a retail presence -Amazon.com, for instance, collects sales tax for sales in Tennessee because they do tons of business here and because many of their distributors and shippers use warehouses here which Tennessee has indicated a willingness to seize in lieu of the tax dollars. Consequently Amazon caved in and now collects taxes at the time of sale. Apple already has retail stores here so they collected taxes on my order at the time I placed it.
