  • Looking for a simple flip book template for Flash CS5

Hi, I'm looking for a simple flip book template for Flash CS5 for a 20 page brochure/ booklet. Or a tutorial. Does anyone know of one?
    Thanks!

    Hi Mark,
No need to restrict your choice to the preset Pages Templates. Do a web search and choose a Word template. Pages will open Word documents and templates. Or design your own:
This is a Table I inserted into a blank Pages Word Processing document. Format the date column in Inspector > Table > Format > Cell Format. Select the first Date cell, then drag the fill handle down to increment the dates.
    Regards,
    Ian.

I created a book in iBooks Author using the Photo Book template. When I rotate to portrait orientation, the photo or widget disappears and a table of contents appears with only the interactive media showing.

Thanx for the prompt response, KT. I have indeed seen that thread, only just after I posted the question.
I have spent hours on the phone with what I now know is a call center in Texas on this question.
I think Apple could be a little more "hands on" with iBooks Author users, and it should also be pointed out that landscape photos will not display in portrait mode.
In my case, I used gallery widgets to display vertical photos, since they look better in portrait mode.
But instead of simply rotating, the page disappears and a TOC of interactive media appears. The gallery behaves as expected when tapped. This is not what I expected, but since the gallery works, I can live with it.
Right now I have "tickets" telling me to "fix" this "problem or to disable portrait mode.
I don't want to disable portrait mode.
Will Apple accept the books if I tell them this is not an "error?"

  • Iphoto 08 vs aperture book templates

I too wanted to use the new book template from iphoto 08... But I can't get this accomplished... There should be an easy way to import / export (depending on which program) to use the new book templates from iphoto 08 into Aperture. This release of iphoto 08 without acknowleging us Aperture users is in my view a horrible mistake and the Apple executives should be embarrassed.

One problem I am having is that if you browse the Aperture library using iPhoto 08 you can certainly import the previews but they are in fact not large enough/high quality enough to use for book or calendar printing. I use high qual previews in Aperture (9 out of 10) at large sizes and I still get the exclamation point when I import into iPhoto -- the only way I can get it to work properly is to export to the desktop the full-size versions, then import those into iPhoto. Not excatly seamless! Am I missing something that will make this work better? I mean, what is the point of sharing Previews if the Previews won't work well enough for printing?

  • IPhoto book templates...

Are there other book templates that can be used in iPhoto?  Looking for more variety than what is offered in iPhoto!  Thanks.

If you have an image editor that supports layers or Pages you can create your own custom page themes and layouts as described here: iP11 - Creating a Custom Page, with the Theme's Background for an iPhoto Book

  • Book Templates Repository

A good idea would be for someone to host a repository of Custom Book Templates. It seems straightforward to add new templates by dragging them into the Book Template Folder in the Library.
    User/Library/Application Support/Aperture/Book Themes
I'd be very keen to get some A4 or A3 templates loaded up so that I can print my own books and have ultimate quality control over the result. Getting good quality photo paper in the UK in anything other than A4 or A3 is nearly impossible.
I don't have adequate server space or the know how to host this unfortunately. Anyone else think this is a good idea and able to host?

I've managed to copy the 'Special Occasion' Theme from inside the Aperture 2 package into the Custom Themes folder and fiddled with the xml to change the book size to A4 without any problem.
The individual page templates will also need to be tampered with to balance out the frames as they are too 'left sided' on the right hand side pages. It'll take a bit of altering the numbers in the xml, but I think it's doable.
I'll try and fiddle when I have more time over the weekend or next week to make it more presentable. I haven't tried printing one yet though.
I hope that a few enterprising individuals will produce new and exciting Book Themes over the next few weeks or months.

  • Address Book template and Exchange server

We're in the process of upgrading about 250 Macs from OS 9 to Mac OS X 10.4.3 at my work. We're now binding our Mac workstations to the Active Directory and having folks log in against the network. One byproduct of this is that the Apple Address Book now can search/display folks in the Exchange Server's Global Address Book. However, the template that the Address Book uses to display each person's information is pretty limited. We get the full name, LAN ID, a business group, a location/building, a "work" phone number (which is an internal number) and the internal e-mail address. The Global Address Book contains significantly more information than this, including a true local phone number. In Outlook, this field is defined as a "Business 2" phone number. Editing the default Address Book template does not seem to allow any of this additional information to be displayed. Is there somewhere else that we could edit a file so some of these options are mapped correctly to the Apple Address Book?
    -Doug

The template preference should work for you. If you hit the green + button you can add fields with all kinds of different default names. If those field names don't match your needs you just select the field name (the bold typeface one) and scroll down in the resulting box and use the "custom" field to add any title you wish. It should change the name of that field to the name you wish to use and that will match the named fields you all area already used to using. You can do this with any field so you should be able to match any fields you wish.
I hope I understand your question correctly. If not...sorry.

  • "Modifying" book templates for (locally printed) output?

    Hi,
There have been many and varied threads on the subject of Apertures (in)ability to produce printed images beyond a single image per page/standard contact sheets and/or those that involve 'buying a book' [How good those books are is beyond the scope of this post ]
The light table can be used to place & scale multiple images for print output, but 'auto-scaling' seems to render this 'unreliable' at best..... [3rd parties have been 'recommended' as at least partial solutions to this problem]
It seems to me that access to the 'templates' that make up the 'book themes' would be a good idea - Darn, if I could simply double the page size from 8.5 x 11 to 17 x 22 I'd be pretty happy! [Portrait would also be really nice, but that's another story.]
Does anyone know where the 'specs' for the books are located? - If we could change the page size it seems to me we'd be home free - AP already allows us to resize photo boxes within the page and then print locally.......
    Comments?
    Cheers,
    Ian
    MBP 2.16G / 2GB / PBook G4 1GB   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   etc etc

    1) Try the couple of templates here.
    2) Click on the cog and choose Save Page->As New Document Master
    3) Not in Aperture - unfortunately it's design/layout tools have a few essential bits missing. AFAIK the only way to do this is to close Aperture and edit the plist files for the book template design - not for the faint hearted! You could possibly create correctly sized blank design element 'spacers' in photoshop and add them to the design as images, not sure how well that would work!

  • Third-party Lightroom 5 Book Templates: Where to find

    Hi all,
I love the book module in Lightroom 5.  I made a 240 page photobook last year and am working another one now.
For the me the great value is being able to link the source raw files directly into the book pages and to maintain full image control while doing it.
But I get ever so tired of the using the same built-in page templates over and over and over and over again.
I've seen references to editing/coding the "lua" files underlying the actual templates, but the discussions are vague.
Certainly someone out there in the vast internet has created some new book templates for Lightroom 5.
If so, could someone provide some recommendations?
    Thanks!
    -Kevin

I would like to refresh this topic.  Any one have any recommendations?
If not, can someone point to some tutorials about editing the "lua" files so I can hack my own templates?
    Thanks.
    -Kevin
P.S. Here is the link that I do know about: A method to create completely customized photo book page templates from scratch in Lightroom 5

  • How do I import a book template in Lightroom 4?

I've exported a book I've created as a PDF. Now I would like to import that book template to a different Lr4 user...how do I go about that? I've tried exporting it as a catalog, that works except that's a pain in the butt to do just for a book - and also all my images go with it too! Not good! Help!

Maybe you're asking can you reuse a layout.. Here's a way:
Right click on the book and choose Duplicate.
Select the Duplicate book in Collections.
    Go to Grid.
Select all, and delete from collection.
Go back to book and you'll have an empty book.

  • Modifying the 'Grade Book' template to have a Report for each student

The grade book template looks like it could save me from buying Bento 2 and look prettier in the process. However, I might need to get some applescript help.
The default template has a Report page, and it includes one student. The included comment says to change the students name to change the values.
I want to have one of those reports for each student automatically generated and printable so that I can give them to the students at the end of the term.
Obviously, I don't want to generate each report myself (320 students ... not a fun way to spend a day). Applescript seems like the solution, but I don't know how to use it.
    Can anyone lend a hand?

Not seeing exactly what you want it's hard to be sure what solution may work - fortunately there are others here that know far more than me.
I don't know how charts and graphs are moved to Pages, but if it cut and paste, I suspect it would be unlikely that you could do it with charts or graphs based on individual students. If it can be done with a mail merge, maybe it could.
But I'm thinking a different approach may be possible if the only charts or graphs you use are to show the class info and mail merge the individual student data.
Let me see if I can explain what I'm thinking of:
You mail merge info like scores for each test and/or just the average of each grade category, plus the overall average and personal comments.
As part of the pages document that is the same for every student, you could put the charts or graphs in for the class as a whole. For example, if you wanted the student to see the class average for each test to compare to their own score, you could have a graph for that CLASS info and then they could look at their mail merged info to see how they compared. It just wouldn't be part of the same graph.
I think this would let you have the same info as in the template, but structured a bit differently.
You may also be able to reproduce everything from individual tables into one big table - more than just normal summary info - and work from that. Basically it would be a table of just formulas pulling in from the other tables.
This is something I'm looking at for some of my projects, but I haven't worked out the details yet.
    Good luck.

  • Address Book template-to-display oddity..

(Hi! I first posted this query in the Leopard>Mail and Address Book Discussions, but there's been no response there, so I thought that there might be a greater chance of a response from those with Tiger experience and expertise..)
I've spent three-quarters-of-an-hour searching through previous posts to see if this has appeared as a problem before, but can't find any mention here in Leopard nor Tiger Discussions..
I'm asking on behalf of my beloved, who's tearing her hair..
She's created an Address Book Template (Address Book>Preferences>Template) and has successfully imported records from Filemaker (by using 'Address Book Importer').
HOWEVER, although she's created (or renamed) fields in the Address Book template, such as
    home page
    birthday
    last changed
    Data in/change
    C1
    C2
    work done
    practitioner
    etcetera (..those C1 and C2 are Comment fields..) nevertheless when data's been imported (and it does all import OK!) some of the fields shown in her Address Book cards are displayed in a different order.. e.g;
    home page
    birthday
    last changed
    Data in/change
    C1
    work done
    Admin info
    category
    flat
    C2
..etcetera. In other words, the C2 field, for instance, is displayed far further down the fields list than it is in her template, where it sits just beneath C1!
This doesn't seem to be based on some peculiar alphabetical or alphanumeric sorting of the fields or the data within them, and when all fields have data in them then that re-ordering is consistent ..e.g; C2 is always separated from C1 by having 'work done', 'Admin info', 'category' and 'flat' between them. ("Flat" is an address field; in the UK "flat" means "apartment".)
We don't seem to be able to find any re-ordering facility which would bring back the display into the same order as the template.
Is there such a facility to re-order the display, apart from re-ordering the template on a kind of hit-&-miss basis until it sticks properly in the cards display? ..And has anyone else come across - and solved? - this problem of fields being arbitrarily(?) re-ordered in the display?
    Many thanks in advance..!

  • Bring far better iPhoto book-templates back!

Please migrate the iPhoto Book templates to Photos.
Photos is better in a lot of aspects but for us none of the offered book templates gets close to "Old World Travel" or "Asian Travel" etc.
They had a far better variety of pages by default, being able to take more photos at the time and needed far less editing.
The poor Photo books just show e.g. 80 pages of always the same boring page layout. Then the message "can only import 80 photos". In iPhoto I added 220 photos and got a nice varying layout. Boom.
If this (rather easy-to-do thing) is not happening, I guess you lost us as customers!

There are other online book providers that may have a more flexible layout that would suit your needs. Here are some of them:
    Sites for Ordering Bound Books
    Ofoto
    Shutterfly
    SharedInk
    ImageStation
    PhotoWorks
    Viovo
    Blurb
Blurb has an application that you can download and build the book locally before uploading.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Are there address book templates for Pages?

Does anyone know of an Address Book template available for Pages?

    I know that.
The question is why would the O.P. want to create their own blank Address Book in Pages?

  • Grade book template missing.,,.

In the store the iPad has grade book template on numbers app so I bought iPad now I paid for iPad and numbers but have no grade book!   What's going on?and yes it wAs an iPad I was looking at and demo was of numbers grade book

Just because you saw it in the Numbers demo on the iPad in a store doesn't mean that it is built in. Some of the apps that they show on the TV ads and and store demos are not Apple preinstalled apps.  If you have Googled this, you would see that menu users have asked the same question and the template does not appear to be built in. At least , that's what I found in my research.
Apparently there is a template in the Mac '09 version of Numbers that you could sync to the iPad via file sharing or you can look at sites like this that offer free templates.
