E1200 - Best Router I've Ever Had Part II -- IT WAS DEFECTIVE ON THE THIRD DAY

SEE RECAST HEADLINE: I spent two hours trying to resurrect it and finally determined that the router crashed. I went back to my old one and am returning the E1200
Over the years (and I do mean years - I had a PC1 in the first day window and a Hayes 300 way back when), I've gone through two Linksys G routers. They were, for me, dreadful to set up. However, they worked well, until the first didn't after several years. I saw the E1200 and ordered for speed as I frequently use my laptop in the house and my wife hers.
All of this to say, it arrived today and the setup on a desktop and two laptops took less than 30 minutes - not a single bump in that road. It seems considerably faster and looks a helluvalot better than the old one.
I highly recommend it.

That way it seems to have worked well for you....You were able to set it up and the reviews says that it is far more better than the G-Routers as it takes you a step further from G to N-Wireless technology.....

  • I dunno about you guys... but this is the best phone I've ever had.

Yeah, 4G isnt always there. But, this phone is BLAZING fast. I've had maybe 5 stutters of lag in the last week or so that i've had it. Coming from a Droid Incredible, this is a godsend.
I had to set Force GPU Rendering and Window and Transition Animation Scale to 0.5x, and thats all this phone needed.
Honestly, here are the improvements I'd ask for, but these ARE NOT complaints; these are things that I'm happy without and even happier with:
    1. Camera: same as Nexus, but make it 8MP as well as a bit higher quality
    2. Give us the option for a fixed menu button (like the on screen home button -- just leave a menu button right there in the bottom right corner).
    3. Give us the ability to create shortcuts to any setting and application (IE, i want to be able to jump directly to Developer Options, or I want to have a shortcut for Voice Search on the bottom of my screen.)
    and LASTLY
    4. MAKE A 3D phone LIKE THE EVO 3D!!
But, HONESTLY verizon, you did a good job in my book on this one. And the customer service was phenomenal, rep named Steven helped me. I couldn't be happier right now with this phone. Keep trying to do things with the customer in mind

for me, 5mp is good enough. If I want to take a picture for a portrait, I will get my DSLR out
    2. Give us the option for a fixed menu button (like the on screen home button -- just leave a menu button right there in the bottom right corner).
This is an app issue. Apps that have not been compiled with ICS API installed (Most of the apps), the menu button will jump around, but for Google apps that are preinstalled, the menu is in its proper place. There are a couple of exceptions, where the Google app has a menu in a different spot that the other apps. At times it can be frustrating since you do not have it in the sameplace for everything, but I am starting to like the 'no hardware button' concept with ICS.
    3. Give us the ability to create shortcuts to any setting and application (IE, i want to be able to jump directly to Developer Options, or I want to have a shortcut for Voice Search on the bottom of my screen.)
There is a shortcut to settings in the notification bar. Press on the settings icon looking thing, and it will bring you to the settings menu. Not as nice as a shortcut to the specific setting, but this allows you not to take up home screen real estate with a shortcut to settings.
    and LASTLY
    4. MAKE A 3D phone LIKE THE EVO 3D!!
Not a feature that I would want personally, but that is nice about Android..... different strokes for different folks, unlike Apple where everyone has to have the same hardware.

You are right.... this is a good phone. I came from the Droid X world, and having a phone without blur is simply great. Apps run much better, less problems with apps and it works good for me. One thing I noticed, I have an app I use when driving, which gives me my speed, direction, and the temp of where I am currently located. On the X, sometimes it took up to three minutes for the GPS to start working. With the Nexus, the GPS is working with 20-30 seconds.

  • Hp products are the best that I have ever had by far

I have just spent the past half hour reading about all the problems that some people have had with their HP product. I,
myself, have had real horror stories about many OTHER brands of computers, including the Acert laptop that literally blew
up only a week after I purchased it brand new! I went back to Best Buy, where I bought it, just, in my mind, to swap it for a new one, when I spotted a "Display Model HP Pavilion dv4 Notebook Laptop, that normally sells for over $900, on sale to get rid of it, as it had passed it's time as a display model.  I asked the Manager of Best Buy, if I could pay the difference between the model that blew up, and the selling price of this machine, and because of the fact that the Acert only lasted 5 days before frying itself, she agreed! My lucky day! I already own an HP tower computer that has given me 2 years of 100% trouble free performance, and after a year of owning this HP laptop, I can now say that I have TWO HP computers, and TWO HP printers, that have been, without exception, the absolute best machines that money could buy! I would recommend HP products to anyone. I understand just how frustrating that it can be to talk to a technition in India, and HP is at fault in this department
as is every other computer manufacturor, I presume to control costs to be able to offer these machines for the very low prices that they can. I want EVERYONE reading this to just stop and think of this statement. FIRST- I am NOT employed by HP in any way, I'm a truck driver and Classic Motorcycle restorer. Second- if it were not for the incredible cost savings HP see's in having their call centers in countries like India, my laptop, that was over $900 new, WOULD have cost better than $1500! So, next time you feel like you got the run around, do what I have always done BEFORE i called into customer service for a hardware problem. Write down every problem, in plain english, that you are having, and have had in the past, with the machine that you are having the problem with. That way, when you get frustrated, you will not actually forget an important issue that in your frustration, you have failed to mention, as that problem, MAY just be the actual issue that needs to be fixed FIRST, then all the other problems will actually repair themselves. I speak from experiance! NO MACHINE can possibly be perfect every time one is made, because every computer is made by the most imperfect being on earth, HUMANS! Give this post some serious thought before you call customer service with hate on your mind. You are asking someone sitting many miles away to help you fix an issue without them even being able to look at your machine. Thaqt HAS to be a very hard thing to do! If you need it fixed ASAP, then take it to a LOCAL computer repair shop, pay the service fee, and within an hour or two, your machine will be good as new. That is what you would do with your car, for crying out loud!

    kRevErK,
It does sounds more of a hardware problem. Perhaps you can try updating the firmware and if that fails, it's best to contact support to arrange repair for you.

If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.

  • HT204053 A long time ago I created a Apple ID for my iPod's and I guess the ID's were not part of an email address. The other day I wanted to backup my apps from iPhone on iCloud, but get the following "Unsupported Apple ID" Can I merge apps?

I have 2 years worth of apps/songs downloaded from iTunes with a user ID that isn't part of a valid email address, how can I merge thats apps/songs with a new valid and iCloud supported ID? I hate to think of starting all over a new purchase history in order to use iCloud system.

You can't merge accounts, but you can update ID's. Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account

  • C6 - Best and worst phone ever?

After years of N70 ME I finally decided to change my phone. It is THE c6. Big jump from "simple" N70 to "great" C6. This is the best phone I have ever had or seen.  I have it almost 3 months now and it is working perfectly.I installed garmin and several other useful applications, even dropped it few times (on the carpet) and it still works great.
I NEVER heard so many complaints about one phone as much as about this one. I planned to update my software but now after I read many posts about it and about massive variety of bugs that this phone offers I aint gonna do it!
So, I have question for admins: Am I lucky and my phone is gonna work great forever or I can expect the same destiny like the others?

updates vary by region and product code i had a C6 and had some issues when i updated it was fine ,one thing you wont see much here is how good the phone is but you always see the bad which would be in the minority with most phones at the end of the day the choice is yours and should you need advice you know where to come for it.
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

Ever since I received my Macbook Pro in July 2011 I've had issues with my wireless connection at home.  After software updates, Apple support suggested I reboot my router which works.  But now I have to do it every other day.  ????  AT&T my DSL carrier suggests I get a new router.  Apparently the one I have is really old and doesn't support my Macbook Pro.  Does this sound right?

If your using WEP encryption yes, Apple has discontinued that becaues it's worthless. WEP (and WPA) is cracked so encryption makes no sense.
Get a new Wireless N router, set it up with WPA2 (AES) Personal and two different 20+ randon letter/numbersymbol character passwords
One for Admin access only of the router, keep this on paper off all comptuers in a safe someplace.
One for entering into devices, computers etc for Internet Access Only.
You need the long and random password to defeat brute force attacks by GPU software that the hackers have now.
Also if you give out the password to another, they can't hack the network with the guest access password.
Computers remember the internet password, so anyone with access to your machines or network will have the password.
Since you have another Admin only password, they can't hack in. got it?
You don't need "Invisible" or "MAC Address filtering" that's a waste of time as hackers can sniff a network and causes issues getting on the network.
    Good luck.

  • THe BEST phone I ever had....Nokia 1100 - Nokia, p...

I have just had to pay SILLY money for a Nokia 1100 - the BEST phone I ever had.  PLEASE, Nokia, re-release this excellent phone....for me, what's done is done, but, please make this phone available for others...I cannot reccomend the Nokia 1100 HIGHLY ENOUGH.  The fact that people are now sheling out £££ speaks vulumes....
Here is my Amazon review for this EXCELLENT phone....
"I am someone who likes things exactly so. For a lot of things, basic doesn't do it for me.
For example, I won't use anything but the highly customisable Firefox (with Adblock Plus, Noscript, Stylish and Social Fixer add-ons), to get the web just the way I want.
You know what? As far as mobiles go, this IS just the way I want already.
    Here are the reasons...
    * Simple and easy to use
    * Old style monochrome viewer, with a backlight, which means that, unlike basically every other phone on the market, whatever the time of day...indoors, outdoors, day, night, the display is always - ALWAYS easy to read.
    * It has a 'Loud' profile. As someone who is slightly hard of hearing, this means that I absolutely always hear when someone rings me or texts me.
    * Unlike a lot of other phones, the alarm clock is loud enough to actualy wake me up.
    * Rounded keys...meaning that I don't struggle to type someone's number.
    * Durable. I have had this model for over 5 years, in that time, it's been on the roof of a car that's driven off, falen on concrete from 10 foot, been with me when I've fallen over drunk countless times, and who knows what else...and it still works perfectly.
    * Long battery life. I only have to charge it once every 12-14 days.
    * It's basic, so won't get nicked. It's fallen out of my pocket in pubs, clubs and at a party, and I've always had it back.
Three times, I have 'upgraded' when I've been flush, and three times, I've come back to my trusty Nokia 1100.
I cannot rate this phone highly enough. Shame on Nokia for discontinuing it..."

As far as what people want from phones nowadays is concerned...I accept that, but, there are plenty f us out there who want a phone to be - A PHONE - it's not rocket science. I spand ages online - but, through my PC - where I can see hings properly, and with Firefox add-ons, Adblock Plus and Noscript, I'm safer than safe, and don't get to see any capitalist rubbish. Also, the fact that prices for the Nokia 1100 are rising, and rising rapidly...that, to me, suggests something...myself, I've bought a second one just as a backup...my first one lasted me well over a decade before I lost it...so, I reckon these wil last me well into my life...

  • APPLE Customer service best I've ever had. ANYONE ELSE AGREE

Apples customer service is really amazing. THEY CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. They really try hard to find a solution to a problem and want the customer to leave the store with the issue resolved.
Hopefully this Great Service spreads to other companies

I've been an Apple customer since my first Mac 512KE, which was upgraded to a Plus. <G> That was back in the '80s. I've never had a negative experience with Apple support, whether in the Store or on the phone, and I've had several truly great experiences with techs who went far above and beyond to help me. On the two occasions when I've had to send my Mac away for service, Apple has sent a FedEx prepaid box to my home within one day. The computer went from my home in Nevada to Tennessee for service and was back within 48 hours.
Right now I have my Mac (and my husband now has one, too — his first computer ever) and an iPod Touch, but I'm just waiting for my Verizon contract to run out in a few weeks before getting an iPhone.

  • Tonight was by far the worst experience I've ever had at Best Buy...Debating on ever returning

Okay so here goes...bit of a story but bear with me while I go through the details (there are quite a few).
First off, 3 days ago I finally decided I had enough of my Nokia Lumia 822, cracked screen mind you, and decided to add a new line of service to my existing verizon account and just pay the extra 40 bucks until my real line is up (5 months left). I purchased an S5 and was very happy with my purchase. Had a customer come into my store today, am a manager at Gamestop, and she told me about this awesome deal where if you buy an open box iphone you get a free 200 gift card! Of course I wasn't told this when I bought my S5 but I was within the 14 day period so I called about 15 stores, found two black 5s' in stock and booked it over there as I got off work. Buying a second for my brother for his 21st birthday, which I got home just in time to spend an hour with him for. To start, the relatively easy return process took about 15x longer than it should have... I got there at around 630-7 and it took until about 9 oclock to finally return the phone and get my money and everything back. This isn't including purchasing the new phones. Because it was such a good deal, I decided to add two lines. So essentially, delete the line I just created and add two. Simple right? I think not. Not only did the manager leave me with some untrained very impatient sales rep...she also left him and I unattended for about 45 minutes at a time, only to come in and fix his problems within five minutes. If it was so simple for her, why didn't she just do the whole thing? That bugged me but I didn't say anything because I figured it would get resolved. The phones ended up taking a bit longer to do activate on my account, and then for some odd reason not explained to me...only one of the 200$ gift cards printed. They have to request another one...AND THEN to top my night off, I go to see my new phone and the phone is icloud locked, meaning whoever did the return didn't even check to see if it was reset. I have this old owners contacts, email and everything on my phone and NO WAY of activating it because I don't have the apple id passwords. So let's go over this...Extremely long wait time for a return that could've easily been done by a manager, extremely long activation time and the promos I specifcally came in for (and called TWICE ahead of time to confirm) did not completely work (only recieved 200 out of the 400 in gc's) and I am now home only to have one working iphone that wasn't even for me and another bricked iphone that I can't even activate. So I'm left with no phone with my number on it, no way of contacting anyone either. This store is an hour away from me but they were the only store with stock and I wanted the deal...To be honest, I'm wishing I never even did the deal because it seems as though murphys law was in effect tonight. They've already told me they don't have any more open box phone but I have to drive back tomorrow (another two hours there and back and i drive a jag that gets 8 miles a gallon) just to finish a transaction that I WONT even be rewarded for. Absolutely ridiculous. I've spent over 10k in the past year at best buy and I swear every time I have an issue, I meet the same stubborn employees and am offered one, no compensation for literally time and trouble and two, absolutely no customer service leaving me completely unsatisfied with all my purchases. This is an extreme case and I know a variety of factors go into it. It's very unfortunate.
To be fair, the young (definetely not properly trained) gentleman that helped me was extremely respectful and I think he was just as frustrated as me...but it wasn't towards me at all. The time he took with me was definetely not overlooked. That might be the only positive out of this...However the negatives just overwhelm the situation. I hope I can talk to someone who might be able to figure out a solution to this nightmare! Thank you for reading.
    Chris {removed per forum guidelines}

    Hello Chris,
Welcome to the forum.  I sincerely apologize for the delay in replying to your post. I was sadly disappointed to read about your experience when exchanging your phone for the two iPhones. I can understand wanting to make the long trip to take advantage of the open box iPhone deal, and I truly regret we have let you down
Have you had the opportunity to visit the store again? If so, were they able to rectify the $200 gift card problem, and unlock your phone? I completely agree with you, while it's great that the sales associate was helpful, the manager should have overseen the transaction to make things move along faster. I assure you I will be documenting your comments for further employee training opportunities.
Once again, I am very sorry for any inconvenience you have encountered. I hope they were able to turn this experience around into a much better one, otherwise please let me know if I can further assist.

  • Best router for a macbook experiencing connection timeouts?

    Hi all,
I know macbook wireless connection issues have been discussed to death already, but I have a slightly different question and with Black Friday looming, I was hoping to get some input from those who may have had success with finding a new router. I apologize for the incoming wall of text, it's been a long, arduous journey.
My 2007ish Macbook ceased to be wireless over a year ago, at least at home.  I was on Snow Leopard at the time, and using the internet when it dropped suddenly but connected after a restart. It dropped several more times and each time would require more restarts. By the end of the day, it didn't see my router, nor the neighbors' forever unsecured linksys router (yet i've had to go to war defending our network from their 17 year old son) or any other nearby network. I'm no longer 100% certain, but I do believe there had recently been an update (wifi died around July 4th 2011 if anyone is an obssessive date keeper) In the next days I installed kismet and istumbler and took the macbook for a drive around the neighborhood, where it proceeded to detect all kinds of other networks that it had never seen before (like, ever because its out of range). At home, still nothing.
Over the next few months, I furiously googled for hours upon hours and tried everything I came across.  And I do mean everything, even things I consciously knew would not have any affect. I did a clean install of Lion but no change. It's been to the apple store three times, where of course it detected their network and connected with no hesitation and diagnostics showed it maintaining better signal strength than I can ever remember seeing at home. They gave me various suggestions, from the predictable 'replace wireless card' to the ludicrous 'send it off and have the antennae replaced' which would be $800 dollars because they would need to open the screen part.  Yeah..no.  At least they replaced my swelling battery and top case for free.  Anyway, thenceforth I remained chained to my desk by ethernet.
Fast forward to now.  Still chained to the desk, but more determined than ever to do something about it. About a month ago I gave it another go and eventually after a few adjustments it started to actually detect the router and I can click to connect, enter the password, but of course, connection timeout. So the network name sits there in the dropdown menu, but bars all greyed out. Very frustrating.
So as a last ditch effort, I have decided to try replacing our router, a Linksys WRTP54G that is infuriatingly locked to Vonage, which we no longer have. There's a motorola surfboard modem connected to the router, and a switch between the router and macbook. The switch isn't the problem, it wasn't even there when the problem started. I've also tried a WRT54G which didn't work either. The Macbook works fine on a university network, but I don't have access to any of the specifics about the network. It also connects to a plethora of other home networks and routers, some of which I do believe are b/g routers.
We're due for a more powerful, capable, and not-cursed-by-vonage router anyway as our devices have increased in number from 4 to nearly 13. I want one that can support NAS and if possible Open WRT.  I was also planning to move us behind a VPN very soon.  I know that's maybe getting a bit nitpicky, but I am definitely prepared to pay more if it means the Macbook is wireless and I can clear up the 20ft river of chords snaking not so subtly around our upstairs.
So the question is, has anyone had any luck fixing the problem by replacing the router?  Even if it doesn't have tons of features, any input on what kinds of routers seem to make Macbooks with this problem fall in line would be so helpful!!

Apple AirPort Extreme has served my mixed environment very well. You can buy a refurbished one from Apple and save some $.

  • DISGUSTED, HORRIFIED, ANGRY, WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD at Verizon Wireless.

DISGUSTED, HORRIFIED, ANGRY, WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE I’VE EVER HAD at Verizon Wireless. I have been trying to return my Iphone 5S for the past week.  I’ve been to 3 different Verizon Wireless stores in 2 states and have spent countless hours trying to get the return processed.  The Verizon Wireless IT system is literally INCAPABLE of processing my return. I purchased an Iphone 5S under the Edge plan.  I traded in my old Iphone 4S and was given a gift card.  This gift card went towards the payment of the first month of the Edge plan, the tax on the 5S, and a screen protector.  When I tried to return the device after 1 week the system literally could not process the return in multiple stores.  A call was put into the operations department on my behalf 5 days ago and I haven’t heard anything back.  I am not looking for a handout or a freebie I just want to return my phone as I am allowed to do under Verizon Wireless’ terms and conditions.  Today is the last day of the 2 week return period although I was assured by a store manager that this will not apply to me due to my situation but I am skeptical given the situation.  I would like to get this resolved ASAP.  I am incredibly frustrated and disgusted and if/when I am able to return this device I would strongly consider leaving Verizon.  I would think the largest carrier in the country would be able to process a simple return.  This is totally unacceptable.

    Hello cmc29,
I would like to truly apologize for the state of affairs you’ve found yourself in, as it’s never fun to be without a washer (or dryer) for any length of time. For me, laundry just seems to appear overnight, and I can only imagine how daunting of a task washing all of it would be after watching it pile up for a few weeks.  I’m sure it only complicated things when our appointments continuously fell through for various reasons, and I’m sorry for the aggravation this added to already frustrating situation.
When your delivery day arrives, you should receive a call from us to narrow down the time frame to a 2 hour window.  This is done because our delivery agent’s schedule isn’t fully determined until the day of service as our customer’s needs may change prior to the delivery date. These routes are then best optimized to fit the appointments scheduled for the day.  After looking through your delivery date for your dryer, I see that your slot was from 5:30 to 7:30. Something was clearly miscommunicated if you thought otherwise though, and it’s even worse to hear that it arrived in less than pristine condition.  Please know that I’m looking into this to see what options we may have to fix this.
Upon review of your order, I see that your washer is awaiting transit from one of our warehouses to one near you. Please know that I’m currently collaborating with both of them to make sure they are aware of your impending delivery date of 8/4, and I’ll update you as soon as more information becomes available.
I greatly appreciate your patience, and I’ll be in touch very soon.

  • How to connect a E1200 wireless router to a machine tool network for wireless communications

Hello all, I am new to the forum, hope someone can help me out. I am wanting to connect my E1200 wireless router to a machine tool in our factory that has programmable controllers and is connected to the machine components via ethernet connections. This is so we can troubleshoot the machine without having a wired laptop. We have several ethernet switches on the machine and a range of IP addresses say from 192.16.1.1 through 192.16.1.150, and 192.16.17.1 through 192.16.17.150, all of the addresses are not used but random addresses in the range. I would like to be able to connect my E1200 to either one of the networks without having to make a change in the router setup. I can make it work on either network but when I switch my cable to the other network it has to be reconfigured. I am currently connecting my data cable to a ethernet port on the router and changing my router address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.16.1.1 and selecting a range of 150 so it will assign numbers as needed. This works great until I change to the other network and I have to change my router address to 192.16.17.1, I know this can be done on some routers because the technicians from the machine builder use them when working on the machines. thanks

On the basic setup tab make the changes shown below:
This basically make the router disappear off the existing networks and turns it into a wireless AP.
Then when you set your laptop's wireless adapter to whatever IP network you want to connect to.
If you need to connect to your router again change the laptop's adapter IP to something like 192.168.200.2
Keep in mind nothing ever gets plugged into the Internet Port on the router.
What I do with these manufacturing machine's is put them on the company network with static IP's. Then so operators can transfer programs and view drawings I place ELO touchscreens at each location. For the Laser cutter operators that do nesting they have a desktop workstation for the CAD software and put the nests on a network share or direct to the laser cutters.

  • Macbook Pro C2D- best computer I have ever owned. -Sweetest deal ever-

    Hi,
I've been looking to replace an aging 12 inch 867 that I've beaten on tour for 16 months. I decided on the Macbook Pro.
I first purchased a 1.83, 2 weeks ago knowing the Core 2 Duos were coming. I was tempted by a good deal ($1699.00 including Applecare at Compusa).
I maxed out the Ram as well (2gig for $300). I than sold it to a friend on the tour for $2000 (with the ram) when they announced the Core 2 Duo. I went to the Apple Store to get the C2D, but they had not shipped yet so I grabbed a 2.0 for $1699 to hold me over (same price as the 1.83 but minus applecare) I knew they would be in the stores in less than 14 days. A few days later I traded my 2.0 in for the 2.1 core 2 duo machine. The store gave it to me for the same price as the original machine $1699, with no restocking fee either.
(don't expect this, it was a huge favor) I put 2 gigs in it for 300$ and now I have a 2.1 Core 2 Duo with 2 gigs of gam for $2000....... timing is everything.
I'm REALLY digging Apple right now....
    Oh...
And.....System Migration assistant......... I LOVE you more than ever now.
The new machine is amazing. Powerful, quiet, and way cooler. My only complaint is that the 2.0CD had the best Airport reception I've ever seen. At my hotel, my 867 Aluminum 12 inch saw 2 access points. The 2.0 saw 16, and the C2D 2.1 sees only 5 intermittently. I wonder why this is? Outside of this....... I am thrilled....
It is the best machine I have owned with the most "elegant" OS available.

Glad to hear you are soo happy, my question is why
would you buy a computer when you state that you knew
the C2D were coming out for 1600, not sure where you
got this "prime' deal for, then trade it up 14 days
later for a new model for the same price?
get me the number to the salesman you were dealing
    with... or his dealer.
    Read my post more carefully.....
my question is why would you buy a computer when you state that you knew the C2D were coming out for 1600<</div>
I said I knew the C2D's were coming out..... NOT the price.... (it was common knowledge) The price i mentioned was 1699$, that was the cost of the 1.83 CD NOT the C2D.
not sure where you got this "prime' deal for, then trade it up 14 days
later for a new model for the same price?<</div>
I did not trade in the 1.83.... i said sold it to a friend for the same price a few days later.
After the announcement of the C2D, I sold the CD 1.83, I went to pick up the C2D, but they were not in the store (and i was without an intel laptop) so I took advantage of the sale price for the 2.0 CD. I purchased the 2.0 for 1699$ at the Apple Store.
I traded the 2.0 CD in as soon as the C2D's shipped. (actually only 3 days later not 14 days later) And the salesman did me a favor by not charging me the difference.
    Get it?
    Awwwww...... don't be jealous..

  • Sky broadband slower than any Broadband I have ever had

Hi. I guess I should of done this 8 years ago when I first had sky installed. By some cowboy who was in a rush and jacked into an old BT socket. To save him time running new wiring. Nevertheless I have endured as much as I am going to take from this absolute pathetic BB service. Sky tell more lies than pinnochio. Our BB was supposedly Unlimited to begin with which was a total load of tosh. It was unlimited until you reached Sky's maximum usage. Which they denied and never told anyone. Only to come out years later with the "Truly Unlimited Broadband". So what was it before then?? I have the top BB package and have Download speed of 2.89mbps and upload speed of 0.59mbps. Which is garbage and nowhere near what it is supposed to be. Without looking i'll go on the low side of 20mbps . Everything is so slow. pages can take forever to load and there is always hangtime on any page. If that is not enough the connection drops 3 or 4 times a day for no apparent reason.  And if the phone rings it disconnects the internet as well but not always. I have all the filters and all individually tested to make sure none were faulty. I don't have a hub. was never given that option. Just some old netgear decrepid thing I had from the beginning. It certainly feels like " we have you on our books and then forgotten until the end of time scenario".  "Contact us" lols are they kidding. I am not wasting money being held in a queue for eternity and then when someone does answer the line mysteriously goes dead. I know all their tricks off by heart now.  All I wanted was an email address to contact them. You think this would be the most simple method to give customers. But no they don't want the fuss.  I guess the majority use Sky for convenience . Certainly not for their broadband service. It is appauling at best. I want an answer not to be fobbed off with the usual garbage . Your distance from aunt betty's house  and the exchange could limit connection speed. Or stand on 1 leg and hum the national anthem to see if that improves the signal. I know that is not exactly what they say but you know what I mean.  I am paying for a service and I am not getting it.  All I know it is not my end. I have had AOL.Tiscali, etc and they were lightnig fast in comparison. I need this fixed like yesteryear. Or i'll dump them. Don't know ifyou can help really. Last resort really. They don't answer. Thanks for your patienceZooZ

It has been 10 years or so but we upgraded to the highest speed BB seervice. I know its costing £60 month inc basic TV package. Which is a rip off. Perhaps you can tell me what I should be getting . I know D/L max is between 280-310kbps and uploads was 59kbps. I know when i ran the test from the router online page. It told me no internet connection detected. Which doesn't seem right.?
