Each Start of Outlook 2013 clones Feeds

Each start of Outlook 2013 (Win 7, 64 bit) clones existing feed entries into empty new entries. For instance: Creation of a new feed, i.e.: The Microsoft Feed MSN. It  appears as "MSN News" with 6 News in the feed Folder.
Now I exit and restart OUTLOOK 2013. I see "MSN News" (still: 6 News) and after 1 second in addition this clone: "MSN News
(1)" (index: 1; empty).
After 2 starts: in addition to all previous entries the following occurs: "MSN News
(2)" (also empty), and so on ((3) after 3 starts) .... I tried all varieties of the 2 options in the "File"  menu" - "RSS Feeds", no success. Does anyone have an idea?
Thanks

Hi,
Please go to File > Options > Advanced > RSS Feeds section, untick the option "Any RSS Feed item that is updated appears as new", and then restart your Outlook to check the result.
If the problem persists, try these steps in the thread below:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2010-outlook/outlook-2010-rss-items-keep-downloading-multiple/d04f34a5-98b4-491a-9697-6864def171b3
1. In Outlook, export your feeds to an opml file
2. Delete all the feeds from Internet Explorer
3. Delete all the feeds in Outlook, and the feed folders.
4. Quit both Outlook and IE.
5. Naviagte to c:\users\[username]\appdata\local\microsoft (this is a hidden folder by default)
6. Delete the "feeds" and "feeds cache" subfolder
7. Open Outlook, import opml file you exported from step 1.
Restart Outlook to check if the problem persists.
Please let me know if the problem is fixed.

  • ICloud v4.0.1 Add-in is being deactivated with every start of Outlook 2013 (32bit)

    Hi Everybody,
I have an issue with iCloud (4.0.1) Add-in, which is being deactivated with every start of Outlook. Every time I need to activate it manually. I have tried to re install the add-in few times already.
Is it possible to sync new version of iCloud with Outlook 2013?
    Regards,
    Mati

    Hi Mati,
So the iCloud add-in for Outlook does not load at Outlook startup.
Usually it will give you an alert while an add-in failed to load. Please check for this on
File>Options>Add-Ins or you might want to look in
Event Viewer for any related logs.
If you would like us to help analyze the logs, you can send the log file to this email account:
[email protected] and inform us here (the email subject should be the link of this thread).
I would also recommend signing out of iCloud Control Panel and signing back in, and see if issue persists.
Please have a try and feel free to post back with any findings.

  • Emails appear as unread when starting up Outlook 2013

I have a 365 account with 4 email accounts on it, one email address on that account is running office 2013.
When we start Outlook each morning, all the emails appear in it but are already marked as unread.
The account is not linked to any phone and has no folder rules applied.
Any new emails that arrive during the normal day activities are marked as unread. The other 3 addresses are fine.
    Any suggestions?

  • Attachments not opening in Outlook 2013

    Hi,
I have recently start using Outlook 2013 on a fresh machine with a new installation. From the very first day i am not able to open any attachments from my mail (by double clicking it). Thing is, it will start working fine once i saved it in my disk. From outlook
when i try to open nothing happens.
Following are the things i have tried till now..:
    1. Checked the temporary files getting dumped at the OutlookSecureTemp folder path. Even from these temp. files the attachment is opening.
    2. Checked in the control panel proper program is set to open that file.
    3. User has the permission to write in to OutlookSecureTemp folder.
    4. Tried changing the registry path of the OutlookSecureTemp folder though was not able to do it.
    5. Check the trust center setting and make sure nothing is blocking the attachments.
    Please advise the next step.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Please right click on the attachment, then click "Open", does this work?
We can also start Outlook in Safe Mode to troubleshoot if it's caused by some 3rd-party add-ins:
Press Win + R, type "Outlook.exe /safe" in the blank box, press Enter.
Then Outlook will start in Safe Mode, check whether the issue persists. If no, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which one caused the issue.

  • Outlook 2013 are not opening and showing pst files are not closed properly

    Hi
Outlook 2007 has stopped working and showing close the program. Again,we re-started then outlook 2007 and it has opened and taken the backup of pst files in a separate hard drive.
The pst file was repaired in scanpst.exe and again i have tried to put the pst file back in outlook 2007.It was hanging and suddenly i have uninstalled 2007 and started installing outlook 2013.
2013 applications like word, excel, power point are opening and outlook 2013 are not able to open and showing pst files were not closed properly.
Again i have un-installed and re-installed the outlook 2013.still we are not able to open the outlook.
Need your support at the earliest to fix the issue.
    Thanks

    Hi,
What's the .pst file used for? Archive? Or you set up a POP3 account and want to import the emails from the .pst file?
Another question, you mentioned you installed Outlook 2013 and it didn't open either. Was this from the beginning right after you installed Outlook 2013, or after you did something such as create a new Profile, set up a new account and tried to import the
    .pst file?
Kindly answer my questions so I can understand the situation better.
I've seen some of this issue caused by the anti-malware software, check your anti-malware software to see if it's trying to interfere with Outlook - things like real time email checking can sometimes cause these kinds of problems. To troubleshoot, we can
simply disable the anti-malware software temporarily to see the result.

  • Outlook 2013 treating Shared Calendars differently

I did try to ask this in a
different forum, but was pointed to this one:
This question encompasses a few Microsoft products, but I think this is the best place to ask the question because the actual issue is Outlook 2013 for Windows desktop.
We have Outlook connecting to a couple of different kinds of Shared Calendars. The problem is it is only performing appointment reminders for one of the kinds.
The one that IS working: a shared calendar created by creating a Room on a Windows Phone. When anyone in the Room creates an appointment with a reminder on that calendar, the reminder goes off in each user's Outlook 2013.
The one that IS NOT working: a shared calendar created in Exchange Online. When any member of that shared mailbox creates an appointment with a reminder on that calendar, the reminder DOES NOT go off in each user's Outlook 2013.
The question: How do we get the reminders to work in the second case?

Are the room calendar appointments  added to the user's default calendar in Outlook? If so, they will get a reminder in Outlook. (They aren't added to my calendar here - I only get a reminder on my phone - the Room lives only on my phone.)
Shared calendars are in another mailbox and reminders don't fire in those mailboxes. If the user has owner permissions and opens the shared mailbox by adding it to their profile they should get reminders.  File, Account Settings, double click on the
account, then More Settings - select the shared mailbox to add it to the profile.

  • Outlook 2013 mail stuck in Outbox

We just started using Outlook 2013 and Exchange 2013 (Fresh install) but we got a problem with additional mailboxes.
When you open additional mailboxes on your exchange account settings where you have send as permissions and full access and then send an e-mail from that mailbox it stays in the outbox. Sending an e-mail in owa works fine from the mailbox.
    What can this be?

We need to try basic steps for this mail stuck in outbox issue as below:
Work offline, move the stuck mail into another folder. Restart Outlook and Work online to send it again.
Temporarily uninstall or disable firewall and antivirus software.
    Test in Outlook safe mode.
Create a new profile and re-setup your account.

  • Outlook 2013 Rules issue when more than 50 rules exist ("The rules on this computer do not match the rules on Microsoft Exchange").

I think I may have found a bug.
My Outlook 2013 profile has more than 75 rules. When I started testing Outlook 2013, I got the message "The rules on this computer do not match the rules on Microsoft Exchange. Only one set of rules can be kept. You will usually want to keep the rules
on the server. Which rules do you want to keep?"
    I did the following troubleshooting:
    1. I created a new Outlook profile. This didn't fix the issue.
    2. I exported my rules, cleared them using "outlook /cleanrules", then reimported the rules. This didn't fix the issue.
    3. I cleared the rules again (outlook /cleanrules), then hand-entered the rules. This also didn't fix the issue.
    4. I reduced the number of rules to less than 50. This FIXED the problem.
    5. When I entered rule #51, the problem came back. When I removed ruled #51, the problem was again fixed.
Does anyone know of a fix or workaround to this issue?
    Thanks.

Sounds like you went over your "rule quota limit" as you do have a great number of rules.  Please see the link below for cause and possible resolution.

    Hi,
Based on the information you provided, I haven't found the accurate cause of this issue.
Since the files in Temp folder are temporary files, in case they are related, you can just delete them.
To troubleshoot this issue, I suggest you perform a clean boot to determine whether background programs are interfering with Outlook:
Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. Or, if you are using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, and then
    click Search.
Type msconfig in the search box, and then tap or click msconfig.
On the Services tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click to select the Hide
all Microsoft services check box, and then tap or click Disable all.
On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click Open
    Task Manager.
On the Startup tab in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then click Disable.
    Close Task Manager.
On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click OK,
    and then restart the computer.
To learn more details about how to troubleshoot in clean boot, we can refer to this kb below:

  • Outlook 2013 taking long time start but in safe mode not

    Hello!
In our company we started to use Outlook 2013 clients, several users are contacting us because Outlook 2013 needs about a 1 minute or more to show that is loading the application / "Loading window":
If the user by mistake try to open Outlook again, pops the next message:
"Sorry, we're having trouble startind Outlook. Only one version of Outlook can run at time. Check to see of anopther version of Outlook is running, or try restarting your computer."
And also appears another one with saying:
"The operation failed due to an installation problem. Restart Outlook and try again. If the problem persists, please reinstall."
After that if they try to open again Outlook, Outlook suggest to open it in "Safe Mode".
If they clic on "Yes" Outlook starts very fast but if they click on "No" takes about 1 or 2 minutes to pop the Outlook "Loading window"
As in Safe Mode loads quick, we tried to disable all the Addins in Outlook but didn't resolve the issue.
Also tried to repair and reinstall the Office package, create a new local profile with new OST file.
The issue happens to diferent email/user accounts and computers.
We are working using Exchange configurations, and our build is W7 x64 enterprise, office 2013 32bits Standard.
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,
If you don't mind modifying the registry keys, you can try the following steps:
    Important
This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Back-up-the-registry
Start -> Run -> type in regedit.
    Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common (or HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook )
Right-click on Common -> New -> DWORD Value. Name it UserData.
Double click on the DWORD value that you just created (i.e. UserData) and set
    Value data: to 1.
Close the Registry Editor and open Outlook again.

  • Cannot start Outlook 2013: "name cannot be resolved" / "connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable" / "___.ost is not an Outlook data file (.ost)"

My work e-mail has a double-login system, where my credentials for work access are one username and my e-mail is an alias of that first username, so they differ from one another. I suspect that's why I've been having the hardest time with Outlook 2013. I
was able to add my account just fine once but changed my mind about using Outlook and removed the account. Now I can't get back into Outlook for the life of me. The error messages that show up are:
    1. It asks me to verify server and Mailbox. I've tried it with both usernames (the official work username and the e-mail alias) as my Mailbox info, followed by the email domain (even tried it without the domain) and it still won't verify when I click "Check
    Name".
    2. This message comes up: The name cannot be resolved. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.
    3. Then once I click "OK" another pop-up says: Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. The file C:\Users\FirstLastname\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\FirstLastname.ost is not an Outlook data file (.ost).

  • How do I remove Outlook 2013 profile that refers to Exchange Server 2003, Outlook won't start

I have Office 2013 Pro preinstalled on my new Windows 8.1 (64bit) machine. I am on a domain with a Small Business Server 2003.  The server has Exchange 2003 installed on it but I've never used it. I use Google Apps for Business for my email.
I clicked on the Outlook tile for the first time in the Start window.  It took me to an email account set-up screen and set up a profile for me.
But then it came back with two error dialog boxes. One says "The resource that you are trying to use is located on an unsupported version of Microsoft Exchange. Contact your e-mail administrator for assistance."  The other dialog
box says "Cannot start Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook windows. The set of folders cannot be opened. The file C:\Users\mark.hcs\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\<e-mail address>.ost is not an Outlook data file (.ost)."
Now every time I click on the Outlook tile it comes up with the same dialog and I can't get into Outlook.  I've tried using the Mail control panel applet but, when I click on it, it does nothing.
What can I do to set up Outlook to not look for the Exchange Server so I can set up my e-mail account.

As Socrates said: "I drank what?"

    Hi,
As far as I know, Outlook 2013 cannot connect to Exchange 2003 or an earlier version of Exchange:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc178996(v=office.15).aspx
Thus, it’s expected behavior that there will be error when use Outlook 2013. I recommend you update your Exchange server or use Outlook 2003/2007/2010.

    bostjanc

    Hello again bostjanc,
Doing an online scan is a lazy approach and still holds doors open for viruses to survive the scan. Most smart viruses will detect if a scan is in progress and thus hide themselves from
the scanner. Corollary: You can NEVER trust an online scan even if it finds viruses! (there might be others too).
A better but yet not foolproof way is to do an offline scan where any possible virus is not given the chance to start executing itself and thus hiding from any virus scan. The virus
scan software database must be updated and hold all possible existing viruses (which is of course impossible). It's, however, a better approach than letting a possible virus dictate the outcome of an online scan.
With the hope that you will reconsiderate your IT Policy ...
