EBS 11.5.9 installer

Hi,
I have installed EBS R12 but not yet EBS 11.5.9
I have requested from metalink cd installer of EBS 11.5.9(Linux) for testing upgrade/migrate to 11.5.10.2. then to R12
After 1 week, they delivered me 36 pcs CDs. The most number of CDs belongs to the Database (AppDB) which has 21 CDs.
StartCD =1
RDBMS=4
TOOLS=3
APPL_TOP=7
Basing from the EBS RI2 directory pattern, I create a directory /u01/Stage11.5.9
Under it I create dirs oraAS, oraAppDB, oraApps, oraDB, startCD.
My question is at the oraAppDB level, do I have to create dir Disk1 to Disk21? and copy each contents of the 21 CDs to each dir using:
for disk1 (mounting disk1)
cp -r /media/cdrom/* /u01/Stage11.5.9/oraAppDB/Disk1
for disk2 (mounting disk2)
cp -r /media/cdrom/* /u01/Stage11.5.9/oraAppDB/Disk2
(up to CD 21)
or I will not create directories Disk1-21 but I will copy the contents of the CDs like the ff:
or disk1 (mounting disk1)
cp -r /media/cdrom/* /u01/Stage11.5.9/oraAppDB/
or disk2 (mounting disk2)
cp -r /media/cdrom/* /u01/Stage11.5.9/oraAppDB/
(up to CD 21)
Thanks a lot

Hi Hussein, It worked now :)
1. The first step was to create > /u01/Stage11i/startCD/Disk1
2. Then mount the StartHere CD and cp /media/cdrom/* /u01/Stage11i/startCD/Disk1
3. Copy p4231960_11i_GENERIC.zip to /u01/Stage11i/startCD
4. cd to /u01/Stage11i/startCD and unzip p4231960_11i_GENERIC.zip
5. cd /u01/Stage11i/startCD/Disk1/rapidwiz
6. perl adautostg.pl
And it worked :)
#2 was not clearly explained in the docs
Thanks again

    Hi user3726038,
I have seen posting about the installation of EBS R12/i11 saying it does not work with Windows Vista (64 bit). I went ahead and tried it anyway to see what kind of errors I get and to confirm if the errors I get are consistent with other people using Windows Vista. FYI, my installation went as far as 99% complete of step 2 of 5 before it errored out. I checked and noticed that many components of EBS have been installed with status equal zero which is good.
When I got the "TNS-12541: TNS: no listener", I went to Windows services, located the Oracle TNS service that was created by the EBS installation and tried to start it. Then I got this error: "error 1053 the service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion". I googled the error message and the resolution is: "To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1.". I have tried this but it does not work because my Windows Vista uses a higher version of .Net Framework 1.1. I have done more research but to no avail. However, it is fun as I learn many things about the EBS intallation and Windows Vista.
By the way, these are the steps when I run the rapidwiz on Windows Vista. Click on Start => Click on command prompt => right click on command Prompt => select run as administrator => CD to the path where the rapidwiz reside. Somehow if I use the regular command prompt the installation will die on step 1 of 5 even when I log in as administrator.
In your case you are using Windows 2k3. Make sure your OS is not 64 bit. Whenever you get an error and it does not say much, google it to see the resolution and make sure you read the Installation Guide. Hope this helps.

  • EBS R12 RAC Clusterware Installation.

    Hi hussein/helios
The Oracle support has installed a RAC on our EBS Prod server but it was a POC(proof of concept) only. So the name was TEST RAC instance.
Now, we want to install the final config setup named PROD following the docs he made on the TEST POC. We will also
reuse all the files, directories, and raw devices used in TEST as PROD. Meaning all the traces of files and home dirs of TEST will be renamed to PROD, and change ownerships from oratest to oraprod.
First, we run deinstall of all the TEST install software like the CRS, ASM. We also delete the traces of TEST on inittab and oraInventory.
Then we now installed first the CRS_PROD. But to our surprise the CRS installation failed , it seems that it still
can see the "test" setup :(
Failure at SlfAccess(/u02/oracle/oratest/product/11.1.0/crs) with code -1Note the we already deleted the above directory since it belongs to the old setup, while the existing is:
    /u02/oracle/oratprod/product/11.1.0/crs
My question is, how do you completely cleanup or deinstall all the previous traces of CRS?
    Thanks a lot,
    Ms K

Palak, since your question is about EBS, could you please repost it In one of the EBS forums at

The folks there should be able to advise you how to overcome the prerequisite failures that the installer seems to be complaining about. ("failed" lines).

sqlplus: error while loading shared libraries: /u02/oradev/DEV/db/tech_st/11.1.0/lib/libnnz11.so: cannot restore >segment prot after reloc: Permission deniedCan you confirm that you have disabled SELinux on your server? I've seen this error when installing the 11g RDBMS software on RHEL/OEL 5.x, when I forgot to turn off the SELinux option. SELinux is often enabled in a default install; it's easy to miss the option to turn it off.

  • Connect to EBS using an external URL

Hello I have a EBS 12.1.3 installation on Linux 64 bit all on a single server and I have been asked to make this available via an external IP and URL (server.mydomain.com).
I would like to keep the current systems internal IP hostname and domain (server.localdomain.com) the same if possible so that it is still available to our internal folks without having to update all of their references to the system.
Any suggestions on how I can accomplish this without having to completely reconfigure my system would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

  • EBS architecture regarding DB, tablespace, users and tables

    Hi All,
I do have some questions regarding the database, data model, table space... architecture of an EBS 12.1.1 installation (I use Windows 2008 as platform):
    1)
    Table space:
Is it correct that the table space used for EBS Apps tables is applsys? Is there more than one table space used for EBS tables?
    2)
    User:
The Database user used by EBS to connect to the DB is "apps", right? The users mfg, sysadmin... are logical users which do not have a correspondent db account. Is that correct as well?
    3)
    DB Access:
How can I setup the right environment to access the DB. In order to execute sqlplus, I need to set a proper environment. There is a script called "c:\oracle\VIS\apps\apps_st\appl\VIS_ebs1.cmd". Is that the right script?
I do have more that one script with that name. Example: C:\oracle\VIS\inst\apps\VIS_ebs1\ora\10.1.3\VIS_ebs1.cmd
How do I know, which one is the right script for what purpose?
    4)
    Data model and tables:
I found etrm which should give an overview of the EBS data model (and much more), but up to know, I'm not wuite sure how to use it to find the information I'm looking for.
Example: I would like to know where EBS items are stored. I found these tables:
    INVFG_ITEMS
    INVFV_ITEMS.
In INVFG_ITEMS I was able to find my newly created items, but is it the "main" table for items. How can I find that out? Is etrm the right tool for this?
In etrm, there is a section with FND and another section with DBA. What is the difference and when would I use which section?
I'm sorry for that much questions but right now, my understanding of the EBS and it's architecture is still very basic and these are things which I need to know in order to get a better picture...
    Many thanks,
    Konrad

    Hi Konrad;
    1)
    Table space:
Is it correct that the table space used for EBS Apps tables is applsys? Is there more than one table space used for EBS tables? There are some other tablespace for EBS. Please check Oracle Application Concept manuel Part 3-4
    For r12.1.1:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B53825_01/current/html/docset.html
    2)
    User:
The Database user used by EBS to connect to the DB is "apps", right? The users mfg, sysadmin... are logical users which do not have a correspondent db account. Is that correct as well? For windows installation there is only one user for can connect db and apps and also run utulity liek (adpatch etc)
For unix/linux we can use 2 users,1 for dbtier and other for appstier.
MFG sysadmin etc... those are EBS user which is pre-define before.
Please check user guide and also installation guide
    For r12.1.1:

    3)
    DB Access:
How can I setup the right environment to access the DB. In order to execute sqlplus, I need to set a proper environment. There is a script called "c:\oracle\VIS\apps\apps_st\appl\VIS_ebs1.cmd". Is that the right script? For Windows, for can accsess apps or db you have top run env file, This file contains information about your ebs. You have to run below cmd for can access for db or apps
    For db:
    c:\oracle\VIS\db\tech_st\11.1.0\VIS_ebs1.cmd (SID_Hostname.cmd)
    For apps:
    c:\oracle\VIS\apps\apps_st\appl\APPSVIS_ebs1.cmd (APPSSID_Hostname.cmd)
    4)

We also checked the working on instance and concurrent managers by running reports.
    it was around 9 pm.
Then sysadmin guy has started restoration from san storage using tivoli client to one mount point in
    same database server.
It was around 10.24 pm LGWR process was killed automatically by OOM(out of memory killer) in Linux.

  • BO reporting from SAP-APO

    Hi ,
Is it possible to call a BO report from SAP screen? e.g. SAP-APO Demand planning Grid ?
Can we pass selections from SAP screen to BO and get the report based on the screen contents.....
    Regards
    Aniruddha

    Thanks,
I tested Edge Standard and it only supports one integration kit at a time. I can either install EBS or SAP. Installation of one removes the entry of previously installed integration kit. So installing EBS on SAP integration kit removes SAP entry from CMS and offers EBS instead, similarly, installing SAP on EBS removes EBS entry from CMS and offers SAP authentication instead.
    Thanks for the help.
    Regards.

  • Problem applying 10.1.2.3 Patchset to 10.1.2 ORACLE_HOME

    Upgraded OPatch to 1.0.0.0.64
Attempted to apply 10.1.2.3 patchset 5983622
Encountered 2 issues, 1 has prevented us from continuing
Issue 1: Received following on stdout ...
failed to get the ias-instance ...
Error: no ias instance to append to
    Val: 3
Issue 2: When running the Configuration Assistants, it fails right away on step "Run One-Off Patches".
It's looking for the ocm.rsp. Received the following:
Oracle Configuration Manager (OCM) is included with this release of OPatch.
    This is a OCM patch.
EBS environment: no OCM installation and configuration.
To run in silent mode, OPatch requires a response file for Oracle Configuration Manager (OCM).
Run /u04/app/ebupg/ebupgora/10.1.2/OPatch/ocm/bin/emocmrsp to generate an OCM response file. The generated response file can be reused on different platforms and
    in multiple OPatch silent installs.
To regenerate an OCM response file, rerun /u04/app/ebupg/ebupgora/10.1.2/OPatch/ocm/bin/emocmrsp.

  • Applying 10.1.2.3 Metadata Repository update in 10.1.4.3 distributed IDM

Hi there, I seem to have a unique issue.
I have the following config of 10.1.4.3 IDM :
SSO in a separate Oracle home
OID in a separate Oracle home
DB (10.2.0.50) in a separte OH and metadata repository installed in this DB
and this is set up in ASR replication mode with other similer setup.
Task : Apply 10.1.2.3 OracleAS patchset.
    The story:
To be fully compliant according to Orcale we ned to apply 10.1.2.3 patch. This patch has two components - a software update and a Metadata Repository (MR) update.
I have applied software update to all the Oracle homes above (with the exception of DB ofcourse).
But to apply MR update I have to do it from a mid-tier OH that also has MR installed, I have none.
I tried installing MR update from SSO and OID oracle home but it would not allow me , I got this message :
The Metadata Repository Update cannot be run from the selected ORACLE_HOME.
The Update must be run from either an Identity Management with Metadata
    Repository installation ...
But we have no middle-tier using this MR, and from this metalik note, it seems applying MR update is not mandatory, only a desirable housekeeping execrcise . :
Understanding How AS 10g Patch Sets Update the AS Metadata Repository [ID 795143.1]
    Exract from that note :
    a. apply the binary update to each AS Oracle Home in the AS Farm.
    b. finally, if possible apply the MR update exactly once from any home that allows it to be run.
also from the same note :
Scenario 6: Applying the 10.1.2.3 AS patch set to a 10.1.4.3 Identity Management home.
The 10.1.2.3 AS patch set is a required patch set, as documented in :
Note: 465847.1 Oracle Identity Management 10g (10.1.4.0.1) Release Notes Addendum.
In this case, the MR Product schemas will not be directly accessed. It is however good practice/ housekeeping to apply the MR update in order to keep the MR in line with the binary patch sets.
    My question :
I am correct in my understanding that apply 10.1.2.3 software update only is neccessary, applying the MR update is only desirable house keeping and not mandatory ?
Would you say this is the correct assessment. if not how would you go about applying the MR update ?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

    HI EVERYBODY,
I am a newbie to EBS

As the NLS patch should be applied on the base release. Is there anyway i can apply this patch or do i have to do reinstallation for complete application. Ur suggestions would be highly appreciated.
