EBS 11g upgrade and DST patches
OS: Linux X86
EBS: 11.5.10.2
DB upgrade: 10.2.0.4 -> 11.2.0.3
I am trying to figure out the process for updating the DST version. Our current version is 4 and we'd like to go to 17.
I am following the following MOS note trail:
1) Interoperability Notes Oracle EBS 11i with Oracle Database 11gR2 (11.2.0) [ID 881505.1]
2) --> Complying with Daylight Saving Time (DST) and Time Zone Rule Changes in E-Business Suite 11i [ID 458452.1]
3) ----> Applying the DSTv17 update for the Oracle Database [ID 1362718.1]
4) ------> Updating the RDBMS DST version in 11gR2 (11.2.0.1 and up) using DBMS_DST [ID 977512.1]
Regarding the DST DB patches, it seems to me that there is nothing to do "before" the upgrade and that the key steps are in MOS Note 977512.1 sections 3 and 4 and are done "after" the DB upgrade to 11.2.0.3.
But, MOS note 458452.1 says to do the DB DST patches before the Application Tier and EBS DST patches.
So, could I plan the DST patches as follows?
1) Upgrade the DB to 11.2.0.3 (no DST DB patching done to the 10.2.0.4 DB)
2) Apply DB DST patches
3) Apply Application Tier DST patches
4) Apply EBS DST patches

The main Diff between Kernal release upgrade and kernal patch upgrade is that

11g Upgrade and No Results View
Question – Why do some reports with no data show “No Results The Specified criteria didn’t result in any data…” and others show a table with no data?
Scenario – I have upgraded 10g to 11g and some of my upgraded reports on the dashboard show “No Results…” when there is no data and others are empty tables. I have report upgraded from 10g that displays an empty table in 11g. When I build an 11g version of this report from scratch, it displays “No Results…”
Has anyone else seen this? Is there a problem with the upgrade or am I missing something?
NOTE – Both reports are set to display default message when no results.

11g Upgrade Issues and Questions
Hi,
I am upgrading database from 9.2.0.6 to 11g in EBS, Apps version is 11.5.10.2.
I have performed 11.1.0.7 patch set installation tasks & Apply additional 11.1.0.7 RDBMS patches
Now my query is that I have to copy InitSID.ora from 9i to 11g before or after database Upgrade(using DBUA)?
When I have to set Database Initialization Parameters for Oracle Applications Release 11i before or after database Upgrade(using DBUA)?

We have OBIEE 11G implemented and are currently sourcing the data from Oracle EBS 11g. We are upgrading our source database to R12 and need to know the impact on our Informatica mappings. I assume you are using BI APPS, there shouldn't be any impact on informatica mappings. Informatica comes with prebuit adapters for EBS 12 version, you need to use ORAR12 adapter. -
I have a few questions on the 11G upgrade.
DB - 11.2.0.3 - OS - zLinux
EBS - 12.1.2 - SLES 10-SP3
I am following note 1058763.1 (Interoperability Notes Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 with Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2.0) - and am at step 23 - Implement and Run Autoconfig
Referring to 387859.1 (Using AutoConfig to Manage System Configurations in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12), I have finished unzipping the appsutil.zip file to the $ORACLE_HOME on the database tier using the unzip -o appsutil.zip.
The next step in 387859.1 requires running autoconfig on the DB tier - for which I don't find the $ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/scripts folder.
Section 3.2 of 387859.1 refers to Installing JRE on the Database tier - however when I run the java -version command - I already get the following output on the upgraded 11g home.

My first question - what steps have I missed that have resulted in a missing $ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/scripts folder
My second question - if my java version is already 1.6.0, is there a need to continue with instaling JRE on the database tier?
This is the first time I am running through a 11g upgrade - hence the plethora of questions.

My APPS and BA team are now asking what kind of testing they should be doing on an upgraded 11gR2 instance.
Can anyone who has upgraded an instance (DB only) shed some light on this aspect of the QA testing process?Since the database upgrade does not change any of the underlying objects under Oracle EBS schemas, you need to do basic checks to verify this upgrade. Examples are ..
- You can shutdown/startup the database with no issues
- No errors are reported in the database log files
- Submit concurrent programs and make sure it completes successfully
- Make sure CM and all services are up
- Create/Update Users/Responsibilities
- Make sure AutoConfig complete successfully
..etc

Automate RPD and Catalog Patching in OBIEE 11G
Is it possible to automate the patching process with scripting? This would be the complete cycle: compare, generate xml patch and apply patch. I see that I can script the applying of the patch but need to be able to script the compare.
Yes, You could accomplish this using the OBIEE 11g scripts.
The one place you may want to reconsider the "complete cycle" is when it comes to actually patching the production RPD via automated fashion. I would leave that to remain as a manual redeployment after the patching to some stage folder/area, then manually deploy the RPD. This way you are certain to retain the incremental versioning that is now provided in the Fusion Console EM, etc. -
ABAP and Kernel Patches for Upgrade and Conversion in 4.6C
Hi,
We are in a process of upgrade and unicode conversion for the source release 4.6C (Kernel 46D_EXT Patch 2225).
"Combined Upgrade&Unicode Conversion Guide" for "SAP Basis 4.6C u2192 SAP NetWeaver 7.0 application Server ABAP Unicode Including Enhancement Package 1 Support Package 01 - 06" , In Software Requirements step, it says
"3. Import 4.6D Kernel patch 2326 from SAP Service Marketplace according to SAP Note 19466"
We wanted to know whether "IT IS ABSOLUTELY NECCESSARY TO GO FOR THE KERNEL PATCH 2326". We dont have "EBCIDIC code pages" in our MDMP system.
We need to know becauase we are also doing OS migration from AIX to Sun and this step will add to our production downtime.
Please advice what are the other causes we should go for the kernel 2326.

We wanted to be very sure whether we should used Kernel 46D Kernel patch 2326 (As it is specifically mentioned in the SAP CU&UC guide and in SAP Note 867193, It is mentioned that "This patch contains enhancements that are required to execute the "INDX Analysis" scan)

Can we go for the latest kernel patch avaialable at market place? And Will the latest kernel patch also contains the "enhancements that are required to execute the "INDX Analysis" ?

Dear All,
Just need to know some technical information regarding EBS.
Previously I have worked with Oracle forms and reports 6i and we used to deploy the application developed in this tool to publish using Application Server 9i/10g. I also have hands on experience on that.
Now after 4 years I am again trying to do some hands-on on later versions.
Just want to know that for Developer Suite 10g, If i developer the application it will be published using Application Server 10g? so that the user can access this application?
How EBS application is host and published?
Will really appreciate your kind help.

Oracle 11g upgrade: How to update stale statistics for sys and sysman?
Hi,
I am in the process of testing Oracle 11g upgrade from Oracle 10.2.0.3. I have run utlu111i.sql on the 10g database.
The utility utlu111i.sql reports about the stale statistics for SYS and SYSMAN components.
I executed dbms_stats.gather_dictionary_stats; dbms_stats.gather_schema_stats('SYS'); and dbms_stats.gather_schema_stats('SYSMAN');
After that the utlu111i.sql still reports the stale statistics for sys and sysman. Does anyone know how to get rid off this warning successfully?

When I am running the following command "./runcat.sh -cmd diff -baseline /home/oracle/SampleAppBaseline -latest /home/oracle/SampleAppChanged -outputFile /home/oracle/SampleAppDiff.txt -folder /shared -verbosity detail" in command line it is erroring out as follows : "'.' is not recognized as an internal or external command,operable program or batch file." . Is there any other way to run this command? Please help to overcome this issue.

when I am querying this view it is showing the DST_UPGRADE_STATE as UPGRADE. I have done the upgrade a week ago but still status is showing as UPGRADE.
SQL> select property_name, substr(property_value, 1, 30) value from database_properties where property_name like 'DST_%' order by property_name;
PROPERTY_NAME VALUE
DST_PRIMARY_TT_VERSION 11
DST_SECONDARY_TT_VERSION 4
DST_UPGRADE_STATE UPGRADE
and when I query the ALL_TSTZ VIEW for the tables in upgrade state , it returns no rows
SQL> select owner, table_name, upgrade_in_progress from all_tstz_tables where owner='SYSMAN';
no rows selected..
How to resolve this issue as "DST_UPGRADE_STATE" is showing as "UPGRADE"

Can anyone who has upgraded an instance (DB only) shed some light on this aspect of the QA testing process?Since the database upgrade does not change any of the underlying objects under Oracle EBS schemas, you need to do basic checks to verify this upgrade. Examples are ..
- You can shutdown/startup the database with no issues
- No errors are reported in the database log files
- Submit concurrent programs and make sure it completes successfully
- Make sure CM and all services are up
- Create/Update Users/Responsibilities
- Make sure AutoConfig complete successfully
..etc
