Editing contacts labels and songs details in N8

Recently I purchased a N8 and using "switch phone" I transferred all my data from my 5800 Xpress music to it. I noticed that all edited labels in phone "contacts" turned to the default labels. Tried to edit them again but such an option is not given by the firmware. The same happens with songs details. I can not find an option to change title, genre, etc... Any ideas?

I have all the info I need for contacts, name, address, Mobile , land line, fax, company ,email, nickname etc, and music details in the new music player show if you go into options and chose , song, genres,playlists etc. It's a different system, more than some people realise. I've changed from N97 to E7 and am really happy with it, with the exception of close up photography (which doesn't really bother me) I can't see a downside !! Enjoy it and mess about as much as possible the phone's great

I can't edit any of my song details in itunes.

I recently purchased a new laptop and transferred all my music across to an external hard drive which are permanently connected.
I added the songs into itunes.
They play fine.
But i cant seem to edit the songs. The details are greyed out (read-only)

Set the files so they are not Read Only.
Also, make sure you have full permsssions to these files and the folder they are in.
Use Start -> *Help & Support* to find how to do these.

Not necessarily.
Go to iTunes prefs -> Advanced - Importing. Select Automatically look up track names from internet.
This will look them up when you insert a CD.
For those you have already imported, select the songs, then menu Advanced -> Get CD track names.

Nokia E66 Proper contact labels in the log and non...

I was a happy & satisfied owner of an E50 for over 2 years, Actually I convinced all of my family & colleagues to buy Nokia E series! Recently I bought an E66 & suddenly I found that this phone has a serious issue that drove me nuts: 1> When you save multiple numbers for a contact with different labels (e.g. Tel, Mobile, Pager) when they call you, the phone displays the right icon for the caller but in the log, beside every caller's name you see just a mobile icon and there is no differnce between the numbers (in my old E50 there was distinguishable icons for telephone, mobile, fax or pager). In this way you can not find out from which number the caller has been called you or you will call him and you HAVE to look at the number. the following are the steps that I followed: I checked my contacts for duplicates and there was none I erased all my SIM contacts I updated my phone's firmware to the latest (410.21.010) After updating my phone, without restoring anything and with my empty SIM contact directory I just added one contact with two different numbers for Tel. (Home) and Mobile. When I dialed my mobile phone from the landline and let it miss, in the missed calls list I just see a name with a mobile icon beside it!!! that means it makes no difference at all! after updating my firmware, I surprisingly have a more serious and annoying issue with my phone: 2> the blinking notification light won't stop! after the first missed call and checking it out, my phone continues to blink forever. I tried a hard reset (*#7780#) and checked "Notification Light" settings but without having any messages at all (after the hard reset) after receiving the first missed call and checking it, blinking continues which means the problem reamined unsolved. I read all the connected discussions in this forum and the only similar problem I saw was this: /t5/Eseries-and-Communicators/Number-label-when-receive-a-call/m-p/254484/highlight/true#M17035 for contact labels and this: /t5/Eseries-and-Communicators/E51-notification-light-keeps-blinking/m-p/525392/highlight/true#M47293 for notification light. which both seem ended without any conclusion. Now please give me a straight answer: Is the indistinguishable labels in the log a bug that Nokia haven't done anything about it yet? And are you gonna do anything about it in the near future? Because I'm surprised why this obvious issue that definitely is known for over 2 years (from 2008) remained untouched in the latest firmware. To get rid of annoying blinking light (specially during the night) I must turn it off totally and don't use it at all?

To turn off slow blinking, select Menu > Tools > Profiles
and a profile. Select Personalise > Breathing light.

Help: Transferring Contacts Labels to a new Nokia ...

Hello, I currently have a Nokia 7610 and have about 500 contacts and many of those contacts have the labels edited. now I went to buy a new Nokia phone (E52) but Nokia agent told be that he'll be able to transfer all of my contacts from the 7610 to E52 BUT the contacts labels will be lost !!!and even if choose other than E52 also the contacts labels won't be transferred !!
I need the contacts labels and I can't live without them, can someone help on this issue please.

Like styllles said, using a hotmail/live/outlook.com account is a much better way to keep your contacts backed up and in sync. The Verizon backup app is problematic at best, a disaster at worst (which is the norm in my experience). When you set up one of those free Microsoft email accounts you will be prompted to include contacts and calendar along with email. Check all the boxes so everything is synced to the account. Then when you set up that account on a new device all your info is automatically and instantly on the new device. Easy peasy.

Editing a label with unrecognized text

Hi,
I am trying to edit a label, and when I try and delete or add text with the touchup function, I get a message saying the selection contains text not available on the system(or something similar). How do I remove and add text to this document?

You probably get a better response in Adobe Acrobat forum, instead of Adobe Reader forum. Touch Up function is Adobe Acrobat feature
I'm guessing you don't have the font installed. Does the message tell you what font you're missing? Or you can check Document Properties > Font tab and see what fonts are used in the PDF file, and get those fonts installed on your machine.

Not a good idea to depend on an iPhone or any cell phone alone for such important data, which can be lost or stolen or damaged beyond repair.
Contacts are designed to be synced with a supported address book app on your computer and/or there are a number of free email accounts that support syncing contacts and other data over the air such as with an Apple iCloud account, Gmail, Yahoo, and Hotmail.
Photos/videos in the iPhone's Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera.
In addition, contacts and photos/videos in the iPhone's Camera Roll are included with the iPhone's backup.

You'll have to manually determine whether Photoshop CS4 is updated to version 11.0.2 (the Adobe auto updater is most unreliable in CS4), and give us plenty of other information.

I just recently got a new laptop and transfered everything over and it seemed to be ok but now having issues playing videos and can't edit any of my song info in music files

I just got a new laptop so I had to transfer everything over and I thought everything would be ok but I'm having some strange issues especially with my purchased tv shows, movies, and music videos. They just wont play. Sometimes I'll get lucky and a tv show will play but if I stop it and try again it wont. If I open in Quicktime it works fine. The computer is authorized so that shouldnt be it especially if it plays in QT and like I said sometimes I'll get lucky and one will play. Now the other thing I just noticed is all my music files play fine but when opening and looking at the info of the music file I can't edit anything for example song title or artist the area seems shaded and won't let me do any editing. So I'm having those 2 issues. Video files not playing ones that I have purchased. movies, tv shows and music videos. Also like I said if I just sit there and click one after another I may get lucky and one will play but if I stop it and try again it will not play again. And I can't seem to edit any music file which play fine. I have a new Dell with windows 7 and I have never had this happen any help would be great. The computer is authorized for i tunes so it cant be that.

Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and system full control to this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but Windows 7 shouldn't be too different.

Bridge CS4 looses my labels and ratings if edited in Camera RAW

Hi there. This is my first post here, so please forgive me if I make any errors of normal posting procedure. I'm hoping someone might be able to identify this problem please.
I am using Bridge CS4 v.3.0.0.464 and Photoshop CS4 v.11.0 and Camera RAW 5.0.0.178
On Windows Vista Home Premium 64 Bit service pack 2, and working mainly with jpg files from a Nikon D300s
I've noticed recently the following behaviour. If I label and/or rate some photos in Bridge, and then open those photos via Camera RAW, and then make adjustments to those photos in Camera RAW and open them directly from there into Photoshop, then the original file in Bridge looses all it's rating and label info, and shows a new modified date and time as of that moment.
This only seems to happen if I actually edit the photo in Camera RAW, I do not ask to save it (and remember these are JPG files so as I understand it any changes in Camera RAW would not be saved unless I ask to resave the file itself) but to open it directly into Photoshop (and I then save the finished work as a copy to a different place from Photoshop) but the act of making an edit in Camera RAW seems to affect the original file settings in some way, and that looses the labelling etc.
However, just a couple of days ago something even odder happened. I opened Bridge, navigated to a recent (and recently labelled) folder to browse some photos (at this point I had not opened either Camera RAW or Photoshop and was not doing editing of any sort). When I got to the folder I wanted and Bridge started to display the thumbnails, I immediately heard my hard drive working very hard, and watched as over the course of a few seconds all my labels, ratings etc, were erased from the files in that folder, you could actually see it happening in real time in the filter pane as the number of red-labelled photos counted down from 30 to 0, and the modified dates for those 30 shifted from two days before to the current time/date. it only happened for the labelled and/or rated photos, the others remained unchanged, with their modified dates still the same as when I created the folder a few days before. This has so far happened to me just once, a couple of days ago, it was as if Bridge was somehow refreshing a cache or something, and that caused it to to clear all the changes I had made.
Anyway, I couldn't really find any reference online or on these forums to that specific behaviour. After reading some slightly similar problems online I tried a few changes to settings. Allowing Bridge to automatically export the cache to folders where possible, and making sure that the main Adobe cache location is writable (not read only) in windows folder settings. However, although I have not yet had a repeat of the weird incident above, that hadn't happened before either so I cant really claim that I've cured it. But moreover the issue of loosing labels/rating when editing with Camera RAW still persists consistantly even after those changes, so that is definitely still a problem
Can anyone shed any light please? if it's a known problem, a flaw, or maybe (hopefully) can be sorted with some settings that I have missed.

I don't know if this will fix your problems, but you need to update to the current versions and see where that takes you. Click on Downloads/updates at top of page.
You have Bridge CS4 v.3.0.0.464 and Photoshop CS4 v.11.0 and Camera RAW 5.0.0.178. Don't know what current version of Bridge is, but you need PS v. 11.0.1 which fixed a number of mistakes. Also, the current RAW is 5.6 I believe. I am still on CS3.

Edits, keywords, and rating can be stored in the XMP file. This has the same name as the file and needs to move with the file or you will loose info. If you move or rename the file, and don't use Bridge, this file could be left behind. You can see this file in Bridge, if you have show hidden files clicked in View. You can look at it in Windows Explorer if you have "show hidden files".
Check to see if you have an XMP file in the new location. If not then do you workflow in stages and see if you have an XMP file after edits before you save it to another location.

You can edit slideshow hero images with thumbnails and captions through In browser editing. Are you facing any issue while editing those ?
Please provide details and screenshot which will help us to identify the issue.

Auto Label and or Automoving LR files to Subfolder when Editing in Photoshop

LR is great, but after using it for a while i miss a few things very much indeed and other colleagues back me up on this.
It would be great to give the user an option to add a label to a photo when editing in Photoshop or other external application
And also give the user an option to make a standard subfolder for the edited file.
"Example"
I import all raw files into a dated folder ex. 2007-09-20.
Then i rate the files i like and filter them.
Then i do the raw editing and then i finally open them into photoshop CS3.
Here it would be great that the edited file automatically gets a yellow label and/or is put into a subfolder of 2007-09-20. This subfolder i typically would name FINAL.
I know this would be troublesome due to the Stacking feature in LR, which is nice but i don't use it. So my requested features should only be enabled if i choose not to Stack my files.

I have 2 iPads with the same log in and password details. How do I make them independent of each other so that contacts and calendar entries are not duplicated

I have 2 iPads. When gifting one to my wife I did not change the log in and security details. Consequently any contacts and calendar entries are duplicated. How do I make the iPads independent so that the foregoing duplications are eliminated?

The logins on the iPads, for example the iTunes store can be the same if you share an iTunes account, this will not effect the Contacts/Calendars unless you are using iCloud to sync Calendar/Contacts in which case just setup a new iCloud account for your Wife and change the iCloud settings on her iPad to this new account.
Unfortunately the contacts if syncing with your computer will be the same as it can only sync from the given contacts on your computer.
You can use a different login to the computer for your wife and she can then have her own contacts.
If your Contacts application on your compuer has Categories/Grouping you can tell iTunes to sync certain Categories/Groups to each iPad, that way splitting up the contacts on your computer for each iPad.
The same is true for the Calendar if you only have the one calendar it will sync it for both of you, the iPad settings in iTunes has the option to pick a Calendar if you have more then one.
One option is to use an online calendar such as Google Calendar and sync to and from it with your iPad that way the Calendars would be individual.

It has always beenv ery basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion. Use your backup copy to put everything back.
