Editing forms in version 9 problem

All prior to 9 versions of Acrobat Pro allowed to use "select all" command for one kind of fields, for example all text fields or all check mark fields, allowing to apply changes (like size of font for example) to all selected text fields at once or the same style of check mark to all check mark fields.
Now, with version 9 I can only select all fields at once, despite their kind and due to this I cannot for example make font changes to all text fields at once. I now have to manually select all text fields first, holding command and clicking on each field individually.
Unless I miss something of course.
Any suggestions?

Seems I asked too difficult question or didn't ask it clearly enough.
Let me put it in different way.
In Acrobat Pro 8.x we can edit separately different kinds of fields - text, check box, radio button, etc. Simply selecting one kind in forms toolbox shows all fields of selected kind. It allows user to select all and edit them all at once.
In Acrobat Pro 9.x I can't find the way to see and edit only fields of one selected kind - when I select edit form it immediately shows all fields, regardless of kind and I can't find how I can select all fields of the particular kind. I can select the range of fields in the form, particular area of the page, etc. but cannot select all fields of a single kind.
Please, can someone help me here?

  • Calling BIP from Oracle Forms: Having Java version problem.

    <h3>
    Hi,
    I tried to call a BIP report through Oracle Forms.
    I followed this PDF.

    JDeveloper Version is 10.1.3.5.0.
    The Forms 10g Java version is 1.4.
    So according to what I discovered on the net, the problem is: My JInitiator is 1.3 using JRE 1.3, BUT my .JAR file is Java 1.5.
    Since we are using the Oracle JVM, ticking “Use JRE 1.5..” in the Advanced tab of the Internet Explorer Options has no effect.
    We cannot upgrade the Oracle JInitiator to a 1.5 since there is no such JInitiator version. JInitiator is available only up to 1.3.1.30.
    What can I do. What if I install Java 1.3 in my machine and re-compile my JAR file with that? Will that work or is there another solution?
    Has anybody encountered this problem?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
    Yes, you need to compile your source files with JDK 1.3 (since JInit 1.3.x.x uses JDK 1.3).
    Other solution would be to use JRE 1.5 (instead of JInitiator).
    Check out [this thread|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=550563] on how to use JRE1.5

    Hi
    You dont need JInitiator, just downloading and installing either JRE or JDK 1.5 will be enough.
    Another option might be to set the version you want to compile your classes against in JDeveloper. there is a setting in there to specify the java version you want to compile against.
    So are you using the web services from BIP inside Forms?

  • Oracle forms 10G -Version 10.1.2.0.2 will it support timestamp data type ?

    Hi all,
    We are having database server - oracle 10g enterprise edition R2,
    forms - Oracle forms 10G -Version 10.1.2.0.2 on windows 2000 professional.
    We have created a table which has a column of type "timestamp",the following is the structure.
    CREATE TABLE  "STOCK_AREA_MASTER"
            (     "STOCK_AREA_CODE"     NCHAR(5)       NOT NULL    ENABLE,
                  "STOCK_AREA_DESC"     NVARCHAR2(40)  NOT NULL    ENABLE,
                  "RECORD_STATUS"       CHAR(1)        DEFAULT 'A',
                  "USER_ID"             NVARCHAR2(20)  DEFAULT USER,
                  "TIMESTAMP"           TIMESTAMP (6)  DEFAULT CURRENT_TIMESTAMP)
    [\code]
    We  tried to invoke this table(stock_area_master) using database block wizard in forms 10g,we were expecting to see the columns in this table,but we got the following error
    FRM -10095 - Assertion failed
    on seeing the forms help for the error FRM-10095,We are getting the following message
    FRM-10095: Assertion failed in %s, at %s:%d. Cause:  An internal inconsistency was detected. Action:  Contact an Oracle support representative, and proceed with caution
    We have the following concerns.
    1.) is it possible to have datatype "timestamp" in forms 10g,our researches show that we can manipulate using datatime datatype in forms,our requirement is have to precision of 6 digits(millisecond - format - dd/mm/rr hh24:mi:ss:ssss),we are able query and view precision to the tune dd/mm/rr hh24:mi:ss:ssss,but we are unable to insert/update to this precision.
    We would appreciate if some one could throw some light on the above.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Mohan,
    Hm. Strange.
    I have reproduced the problem in my environment.
    I have also found, that building the block manually, seems to work, as long as you define the item with datatype Char in Form Builder. Inserts and updates using a value like "22-AUG-06 11:10:11,647354 AM" worked fine for the timestamp item.
    You may want to enforce some dateformat. I don't know whether that will work.
    Good Luck!

  • I need to substitute the default font (times roman) in my editable form fields with a san serif...

    I am making a PDF with editable form fields out of InDesign CS6. When I make the interactive PDF, the font, Helvetica Neue  is being substituted with the default font, Times Roman. The client has provided me with last years PDF which has a nice San Serif for the editable fields. I need to change the font either to Helvetica Neue, or at least to a nice San Serif common system font. I have Acrobat X.
    Thanks in advance!!

    I called a friend of mine who walked me through this so I will post the instructions for anyone else who may be having this problem...
    1. Open the PDF with the form fields in a recent version of Acrobat.
    2. Click on the Toolls tab.
    3. Under Forms, click Edit.
    4. Now you will see your fields listed under "Field" > "Sort by"...  "Text Field 1"...  etc.
    5. Holding "control" click where it says "Text Field 1" and some options will pop up.
    6. Click on "Properties".
    7. A "Text Fields Properties" window will pop up.
    8. Click on the "Appearance" tab.
    9. Here you can change your fonts and font sizes.
    Good luck!

  • Any suggestions for programs that can convert mpeg1 to a format that can be edited in iMovie Version 8.0.6 (821) and/or iMovie HD Version 6.0.3 (267.2) Thanks

    Any suggestions for programs that can convert mpeg1 to a format that can be edited in iMovie Version 8.0.6 (821) and/or iMovie HD Version 6.0.3 (267.2) Thanks

    Hi Mark
    Was just looking for the answer to this exact question and I just found something that worked for me so don't know if it might be of use to you or you might have already solved your problem!  Basically when I was in iMovie and I clicked to import movies from the computer into iMovie and I found the clip I wanted to import, there are a few options.  I think it asked which Event I wanted to add it to but most importantly it asked me what file size I wanted...I had originally been clicking Large because it advised me to because it reduces the file size...but just on a chance there I selected 'Full - Original' for size and it imported perfectly into iMovie in it's original vertical form!
    Hope this helps!

  • Add/Edit Form with object

    OK, I'm somewhat of a newbie, but I know enough to make me dangerous. Here's my problem.
    I have a form that I want to use for both Adding a course and Editing an existing course. I have a Course object. My ideal situation is to check an "action" parameter when the page is loaded. If action == Add, then I would like to instantiate an object with default values, if action == Edit, then get the Course object that corresponds to the CourseID that is also passed in. The form values would be set to Course.getXXX(). That part is pretty basic.
    When the form is submitted I want to validate the fields. If they are valid, then update the DB, otherwise, go back to the form with the fields restored to the users input plus error messages. Here's where I am getting tripped up.
    First, I would like to save the Course object in the Request scope, so I check that first on the Form page. If a course already exists in the Request scope, then I use that Course object, otherwise I create a new Course object like I described in the first paragraph. The problem is really passing that on to the next page that does the validating. I was told to use a JSP tag and setProp="*" blah blah blah, then call a validate method. The question I have is what happens to Course fields that are set to datatypes such as long or timestamp ??? And what kind of validate method should I write? Should I pass it a long or String? Do I really have to write TWO validation methods for every field I have that isn't a String? What's the most common way to do this? And should I validate BEFORE I try to set properties? Maybe through a static method or something?
    The other thought I had was to create a CourseView object in which everything field was a String, then I could validate, then if everything was fine and dandy, I could set or create a new Course object using CourseView and then update the DB. This would mean I would use the CourseView instead of Course for the forms. The problem I have is what's the best way to go about that? I'm not that familiar with abstraction, extending or implementing. What would work best? I would like to have the validation methods with the Course object and just utilize them in CourseView, but I'm sure there are loopholes to that.
    Oh, and the other big problem...null values. How do forms treat null, how do validation methods treat nulls and what about objects that require some fields but not others? Or even worse yet, a field that is not required unless another field is not null. There has to be an answer for this already.
    Oh yeah, Struts is out of the question for reasons to involved to go into here.
    I thank everyone in advance and hope any response help many more people then just I.

    Basically lets say I have this:
    AddEditForm.jsp
    <%@ import com.mycomp.Course, com.mycomp.CourseMgr %>
    <%
    String action = request.getParameter("action");
    Course crs;
    if (request.getAttribute("crs") != null){
    //if crs exisits in request, then form was submitted and rejected
    crs = request.getAttribute("crs");
    //otherwise this is the first time the page has been loaded
    } else if (action == add){
    crs = new Course();
    }else if (action == edit){
    //course_id is a long
    crs = CourseMgr.getCourse(course_id);
    %>
    <HTML>
    <BODY>
    <% Custom tag here to display errors from errorMsg hashtable %>
    <FORM action="process.jsp">
    <input type="text" name="course_id" value="<%=crs.getCourse_id()=%>">
    <input type="text" name="status" value="<%=crs.getStatus()=%>">
    <input type="text" name="created_by" value="<%=crs.getCreated_by()%>">
    <input type="text" name="created_date" value="<%=crs.getCreated_date()%>">
    </FORM>
    </BODY>
    </HTML>
    Process.jsp
    //Call validation methods and set methods
    //If everything validates OK, then call CourseMgr.setCourse(Course crs);
    //The question is, do I write the Course class to have all String values
    //and then change them to longs before I send to the DB?
    //Should I try to validate before I set course_id (my idea)
    //or set them and validate before I call setCourse() (someone else's)
    //If the later is the case, then the object must be very loose
    //and you have to trust that a person is going to call the validation
    //method. I would like to not allow sets without validation. The only
    //way I see it right now is to have a set for both String and long
    //and validations for both. You can still leverage all the code,
    //but it still seems stupid. I worked with ColdFusion for a while
    //and the loose datatypes were a god send for this kinda thing.
    Course.java
    import com.mycomp.CourseMgr;
    public class Course {
         private long course_id;
         private String status="";
         private String version;
    private long created_by;
    private Timestamp created_date;
    public static Hashtable errorMsg;
         public Course() {
    course_id = CourseMgr.getNextCourse_ID();
    public long getCourse_id(){
    return course_id;
    public void setCourse_id(long l){
    this.course_id = l;
    //I would like to be able to not have to write two sets
    //for every long. If the form input is named course_id
    //doing a setProp(*) should reflect it.
    //But it reflects as a String, doesn't it?
    //I also don't know if I should put a try in here.
    //A try is part of the validation method and it seems
    //redundant. But how do I ensure validation before set?
    public void setCourse_id(String s){
    this.course_id = Long.parseLong(s);
    public boolean validateCourse_id(long vL){
    if ( valUtils.isInRange(vL,"Course_id")){
    //if it's within a predetirmined range
    return true;
    }else{
    errorMsg.put("course_id","Course ID out of range.");
    return false;
    //I would love to be able to call only one validation method
    //but other objects need to use a long. It's only the
    //view that uses Strings all the time. I would like it
    //if the request could keep the form field for course_id as
    //the type t was meant to be.
    public boolean validateCourse_id(String vS){
    if ( valUtils.isPositiveLong(vS)){
    //if it can be parsedLong and is positive
    return validateCourse_id(Long.parseLong(vS));
    }else{
    errorMsg.put("course_id","Course ID is invalid Long.");
    return false;
    I really hope this helps. Thank you greatly in advance for any assitance.

  • Editing Forms

    I am in the middle of the trial version of Contribute 3 and I
    am unable to edit forms that were previously done in Microsoft
    Frontpage. The error message I get is 'You cannot perform this
    action in this region of the page' . Macromedia support did not
    answer my problem they just referred me to this discussion site.
    However they did say that form editing is permissable in the trial
    version.
    Can anybody advise what I need to do.
    Mark

    In fact there are two ways of importing an html file into Acrobat and each way will result in a different form.
    If I use the Create PDF -> From file wizard it creates an Acrobat form. If I use the Forms -> Create New Form wizard it creates a LiveCycle form which allows me to edit the entire form BUT it doesn't allow me to add simple actions to the fields OR enable usage rights in Acrobat Reader.
    I am quite confused by the fact that if I create an Acrobat form I can't just switch it to designer or vice-versa and each program has different functionality which makes it counter-intuitive.
    Can I add the simple functions from Acrobat in Designer? Can I enable rights in Reader in Designer?
    It seems to me that I have to choose early on which route to take (Acrobat or Designer) and after I do there's no turning back to add specific functions available on the other.
    Any insight is appreciated.

  • Error with Provider Hosted App on Edit Form of a list item

    We have an error on the Edit Form of one of our pages.
    We have developed a SharePoint Online Provider Hosted app which replaces the standard edit form of a list item and has some further events behind the save button. Since this is rather new territory for us, we're using a roundabout way of achieving this by
    using a script editor web part to display an iFrame of our app. That way we can pass the Url through to our app and retrieve query strings from them.
    Our issue comes quite intermittently in that we sometimes get a "web page cannot be found" error or sometimes a "resource cannot be found" error, however, when we load another app on the site (from the same app project, but using an app
    part), then go back to the Edit Form, the information in the iFrame suddenly renders.
    Any ideas on what might be causing this issue at all? Ideally, we should be rendering the app to the Edit Form is the proper manner, rather than scripting an iFrame that points to out app in Azure. Would this be the cause of the problem?
    Thanks
    Tom

    Hi thumper, if you have access to InfoPath, you can add the form to a page using the InfoPath web part. Otherwise, use SP Designer with instructions below:

  • A solution for Secure Static Versioning problem in 1.5.0_10

    Hi,
    I have JRE 1.3.1_09 and 1.5.0_10 on my computer and I think I have solved static versioning problem.
    My test computer:
    - Windows XP sp2
    - Internet Explorer 7 (on another computer also IE 6)
    - Firefox 2.0.0.1
    - JRE 1.3.1_09
    - JRE 1.5.0_10
    I. Solution for Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Explorer 7
    1. Edit registry and add:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Deployment\Policy
    DWORD: EnableSecureStaticVersioning = 0 (Hex)
    2. Restart browser if started.
    3. Start web page with java applet.
    II. Solution for Firefox 2.0.0.1:
    1. Install 1.3 JRE in the same parent directory as 1.5 JRE.
    Because default default installation path for 1.5 JRE is C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_10 you need to modify
    1.3 installation path from default C:\Program Files\JavaSoft\JRE\1.3.1_09 to C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.3.1_09
    After installation check out that "bin" directory is in the following path:
    C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.3.1_09\bin
    2. Install 1.5 JRE in default installation directory: C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_10.
    After installation check out that "bin" directory is in the following path:
    C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.3.1_09\bin
    3. Restart browser if started.
    4. Start web page with java applet.
    Note: HTML page must use <object> tabs for Internet Explorer or <embed> tabs for any other browser (e.g. Firefox). You need to specify correct classid in object and/or embed tag.
    P.S. If anyone would like to discuss with me send me an e-mail to [email protected], but please post question to forum and just mail me a link to forum. I will write my answer to forum.
    Hope this helps,
    Grofaty

    I have been trying to find a solution for this issue at our organization for over 6 months. Finally, we have a work around to run multiple java versions for newer and aging java apps.
    Thanks,

  • I have created an editable form which cannot be saved as a completed copy by adobe reader users.

    I have a created an editable form in indesign and acrobat, however when other users open up the form and fill it in they cannot save the completed copy. It comes up with that the user needs to click done signing, however there is no done signing button in adobe reader.

    Unless they're using Reader XI then you have to first apply a special right in Acrobat that allows them to save the filled-in form in Reader.
    The exact location of this command depends on your version of Acrobat.

  • Editable Form: Reader Extensions

    I created an editable form with a digital signature field using Adobe Acrobat Pro X on a Mac and posted that form online. I enabled Reader Extensions.
    A user trying to fill out the form is consistently having problems where she can save the filled in form to her computer, but when she emails it, the content she entered in the fields is gone.
    I downloaded the form and tested filling it out and emailing it, and it worked fine. I also had a colleague who only has Acrobat Reader test it by downloading the form, filling it out and emailing it to me, and the content was there.
    Does anyone know what would be causing the issue for this one particular user? The form has a rapidly approaching deadline, so I would like to help her ASAP.
    Thanks!

    This is a known issue when the file is filled-in in Preview instead of in Adobe Reader.

  • Can't edit form after upgrade to Acrobat XI

    I am using Adobe Acrobat XI through Adobe Creative Cloud and was going to edit a form that I had made and I get this message:
    "This form cannot be edited in Acrobat.  Please use Adobe LiveCycle Design to edit this form."
    Does anyone have experience with this problem.
    I just edited form in Acrobat about two weeks ago and then it was no problem.

    Thanks George, this is a document that I made in 2012.  I have figured out that I did password protect it and also did use an certificate.  So I am going to look in my backups and find the original file before I locked it.
    I was only saying that I had edited another form in the Acrobat XI, not this one.
    Thank you for your answer.

    It Creates a problem, Form which is complied in Developer 6i Rel 2. gives blazzing result when it deployed it on Oracle 9i Form Server because of the version diff.
    Oracle 9i Form Server Version is always higher than Forms Compiler comes with the latest Developer 6i Rel. 2.
    Because of this reason we cannot install Developer 6i Rel. 2 and
    Oracle 9i Application Server with Form Service on the same machine.
    How to solve this.
    Best Regards,
    Darshan Desai

    If you look in metalink, you can get patches for Forms 6i to patch it up to higher levels than rel 2. Any patch from 4 through to 9 will be newer. Choose which patch you want to bring yourself in line with 9iAS. The patch documentation tells you what version it will bring the forms up to.
    Each patch superceeds the last so just pick one and apply it.

  • Can you create editable forms in Acrobat X Standard?

    Hi everyone,
    Hopefully an easy question although I cannot find a definitive answer on the product page.
    I need to be able to create editable forms that others can fill in and print or save using Reader 8, 9 or X. Can these forms be created using Adobe Acrobat X Standard? The forms have been created in Word 2007 but we want to disribute them as PDF's and allow certain fields to be filled in on the PDF. The form will be downloaded from a website, filled in and emailed back.
    Any clarification on this is greatly received.
    Thanks...

    I know you can create forms with Standard but I don't think you can enable them so that Reader users can save them without the Pro version.

    Even if you could do this, you would want to carefully consider whether you want a form out there for everyone to fill out and send in. There is a restriction to the amount of times you can receive data from an enabled form. After 500 times, you would be violating the license agreement.
