  • All photos duplicated after restoring Photoshop Elements 11 catalog

I recently had my computer reformatted and notice that following Photoshop Elements reinstall and catalog restore all my photos have been duplicated in the Adobe/digital photos folder. I have read that this is due to my computer tech restoring all photos in the original folder structure prior to me executing the catalog restore (I should have done my research first). My question is what can I do now to eliminate the duplicates? Do I delete all photos and the Adobe folders or is there an alternative?

    Al Markunas wrote:
The duplicates are in the same folder tree structure and, yes, the restore renamed them with a -1 suffix. The pictures with the -1 suffix are the ones I see in the Organizer.
There is no 'smart' way to get rid of the files previously copied on your drive, but I would use the ability of the the Organizer to move folder trees on your drive.
First I would create a new master folder outside of the old tree structure.
Then I would work in 'Pictures' view in the left panel of PSE11.
I would select a branch of the folder tree as a test, and drag and drop it to the new folder. Tip : there must be at least a file in that master folder to make it appear in the left panel. Then, from the Windows explorer, I would check that only the previously copied media files are showing in the moved branch... and delete the branch altogether in the Explorer.
Once you  master the process, you can either move all your remaining folder tree from the Organizer, and delete the remaining duplicates from the Explorer or you can move branches separately.
Be patient! Moving files requires time and you should not abort the move operation to avoid creating more duplicates.
The main penalty of your situation is the renaming of your files with a suffix, but that does not prevent you to use 100% of the Organizer features.

  • Image won't open in Elements 10 from "Photo/Edit In" in LR4

I hope someone can help.  I recently got a new BIG MAC, and have been loading my software.
The external editing preference to Elements 10 from Lightroom 4 will open Photoshop Elements, but will not open the image... I've reinstalled elements, reinstalled the preference, rebooted multiple times....
    Please help...Thank you!

You've probably chosen the logical file instead of the correct file as your external editor:

  • Elements 5.02 - Attempt to access invalid address

When I try to launch Photoshop 5.02 the welcome screen is displayed and I can open the Organizer, but when I attempt to open the Quick Fix or the other editor programs I get a dialogue box "Attempt to access invalid address"
This problem is on my profile only as Photoshop works when another user is logged in to the PC ( OS: Vista Home 32bit) and was working ok until a few week ago.
I have tried the following with no success:
    Reinstalled the s/w.
Deleing the Photoshop folder from the AppData in my profile folder.
Deleting the Photoshop registry entries from Current User.
Searched the web for a solution
I know that I could delete my profile and create a new one, but I would only do this if all else failed as I would loose other settings just when I have all setup the way I want it.
Could anyone give me any pointers to where I might look to resolve this please.
    Thank you. Niall

Make sure your user account has full administrative permissions.  Then, at this stage of the game, I would take the following steps:
    - Re-create the Preferences file following these instructions:
Re-create the Photoshop Elements preferences file to eliminate problems that a damaged preferences file might cause.
Note: When you use this solution, Photoshop Elements will create a new preferences file and you will lose custom settings associated with your current preferences file. However, the file you rename in step 2 is your original preferences file. If you determine that the preferences file is not causing the problem, then you can restore your custom settings by undoing the instructions below.
To re-create the Photoshop Elements preferences file:
    Quit Photoshop Elements.
Locate the Adobe Photoshop Elements preferences files. In Photoshop Elements 5.0, there are two preferences files, one for Organizer and one for Editor:
    Users\[ user ]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\5.0\Organizer\psa.prf
    Users\[ user ]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\5.0\Editor\Photoshop Elements 5 Prefs.psp
Rename the extension for the files (for example, to psa.old).
Start Photoshop Elements. Photoshop Elements creates a new preferences file.
I doubt that this will fix your problem, however, it is always the first thing to try.  If it does not, take these steps:
    - Uninstall Photoshop Elements
    - Run the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301)
    - Reinstall Elements
    - Reinstall the 5.0.2 patch

  • Elements 5 shutting down

ok ive been everywhere and no one has answers for me, my elements keeps shuttin down with photoshop elements 5 (editor) has stopped working message
Ive uninstalled elements reinstalled nothing changes please some one help me out here??

Are you using XP or Vista?
If Vista, did you download and install the 5.0.2 update patch?
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=40&platform=Windows
Did Elements ever run on your system...or did it work and this suddenly started happening?
If it never ran, did you install with your Anti-Virus off? If using Vista, did you install with UAC (User Account Control) Off? (Your answer should be yes to both because if it's not those two things can foul an installation.)
If it ran before, have you tried deleting your preference files? (Running the disc to repair or reinstall Elements will not correct a corrupt preference file as the preferences are stored outside of the program folder.)
If on a PC using the Vista OS, did you download and install the patch that can be found in the download section? If on Vista, are you in an Admin account? Do you have the program set to "Run as Administrator"? (Your answer should be yes otherwise you run into problems.)
If Elements ran before but doesn't now, did you install anything new lately? (If you did, that new filter, font, or whatever might be causing a conflict.)
If all else fails, there's always looking at the Adobe tech docs.

  • Reinstalling on my computer

I received a new office computer and all of my programs were to be moved over.  I do not have my PDF converter.  How do I get that back on?

First, I don't know where the security alert box is. Is that part of Adobe or part of Internet Options thru windows? Either way, I'm not finding it.
Second, Elements reinstalled without problems and I am able to access the organizer and through that I did an update, so it is accessing the internet. But when I try to do the first time sign-in for the editor the message comes up, "that either my computer is not connected to internet or my clock isn't set to the proper time." Both are not true. Internet connection good and strong and Adobe Elements Organize was able to update, so the connection is there. Also time and date are correct for EST. Any suggestions? TIA.   Have spent two days and over 6 hours on hold in chat, without ever receiving any help from adobe tech support.

  • Process multiple files prompts for "save" at every image

Hi, I am trying to use Elements 10 to convert Panasonic RAW files to JPEGs for web use.  The batch runs, but prompts for a "save" location at every file.  I have reinstalled Elements, reinstalled the Camera RAW update, and have ensured I have ownership of source and destination folders (in Windows 7).
I have tried several folders, set up test folders etc. and nothing seems to work.  Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?  Its been ayear or so since I did this, but it used to work.  TIA.

Try selecting all thumbnails in camera raw (left hand thumbnail strip) then click the open image button (bottom right) to open them in PSE Editor. When the images appear in the project bin use:
    File >> Process Multiple Files
Use the source dropdown for Opened files
Choose a separate folder for destination
    Then set your jpeg quality/size.

  • Help with Photoshop Elements 6 reinstall

I have an older purchased copy of Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 - with the product key. I am attempting to reinstall it to my computer following major software repairs to the OS. Apparently my original install disk has a bad scratch on it that is preventing it from installing from the disk. I need to download a fresh copy of this software and install it and then apply my product key. Can someone provide me with a download link to my needed software. (Note - my software came in a bundled pack that included Adobe Premiere Elements 4 - which I have already reinstalled.)

  • Elements Organizer does not install when reinstalling PSE10

I have a problem that I cannot seem to resolve. Previously Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 had been running flawlessly on my computer and was easily opened by clicking the desktop icon which had a "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 10 Organizer\Photoshop Elements 10.0.exe" target. After uninstalling and reinstalling Photoshop Elements 10, when I click on the Desktop icon to start the application, I get a dialog box that says "The item 'Photoshop Elements 10.0.exe' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved so this shortcut will no longer work properly". If I right click the Photoshop Elements 10 desktop icon and check properties, the Target says "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 10 Organizer\Photoshop Elements 10.0.exe". When I open Explorer and navigate to where the target says the application file should be, the "Elements 10 Organizer" directory does not exist. The only directory that does exist is the "Photoshop Elements 10" directory and it contains the 'PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe'. Yes if I click on that file the Editor opens, however when I try to load the Organizer workspace once the editor is open, it does not load because the entire folder and application is missing. I even tried searching the entire C-Drive to find the Photoshop Elements 10.0.exe file but it was nowhere to be found.
To be specific, I had PSE8, PSE9, and PSE10 installed on my 64-bit Windows 7 Professional w/SP1 computer. I decided to uninstall PSE8 & 9 because I had just purchased PSE12 and wanted to make room for the PSE12 installation. When I tried to first uninstall PSE8, the uninstaller stopped with the warning that PSE8 was installed in the same directory as PSE10. The uninstall then terminated when I clicked on OK. Next tried to uninstall PSE9 and received the same warning and uninstaller termination. The same thing happened when I tried to uninstall PSE10. Faced with the situation that all three products were installed in the same directory and would not uninstall individually, I found it necessary to uninstall all three applications manually according to the directions on the Adobe's knowledgebase.
To uninstall PSE8, PSE9, & PSE10, first thing I did was create a system restore point which is something I always do just in case something goes wrong. Then starting with PSE8, I first printed out the Photoshop Elements Help "Manually remove Photoshop Elements 8 | Windows that I found at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/826/cpsid_82673.html. Subsequently I printed out the directions for each product, PSE8, PSE9, and PSE10, are all on the Adobe website. Next I followed the directions contained in each article except for running the product uninstaller as I mentioned above and removed all three applications then rebooted my machine.
Next I reinstalled PSE10 and tried to open it only to find that it did not fully install especially the Elements Organizer. As mentioned you can open the Editor by going directly to the executable file however you cannot access the Organizer because it did not install and cannot be found anywhere on the computer. I have uninstalled and reinstalled PSE10 five time now each time using the product Uninstaller plus the "Manually remove PSE10" directions and I still cannot get the Elements Organizer to install.
My question is does Adobe have a utility that can be run after manually installing a specific product that would find registry entries that were not removed after completing the manual removal process? The problem I see is the manual removal process which shows possible registry entries to remove manually is built on the assumption that you were able to run the Uninstaller which is not the case with my problem.
Secondly does anyone have any suggestions on how to install both the PSE10 Organizer and Editor?

I believe I found a solution but I need help in changing some of the parameters to reflect for a United States program install.
If you go to "Elements 10 Organizer is not installed [SOLUTION]" at http://forums.adobe.com/message/4745941 you will note the Poster says it is possible to force the install of Elements Organizer 10 by using the command line:
    msiexec /i "E:\Adobe Photoshop Elements 10\ElementsOrganizer\Elements 10 Organizer.msi" TRANSFORMS=1031.mst ELEMENTS_DE_DE=1 ORGANIZER_DE_DE=1 STARTWATCHSERVICE=1 SUPPRESSREBOOT=0 NOT_STANDALONE=1 /l*v "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\OrganizerInstall.log".
I found that the above command line input does in fact start the setup for the PSE10 "Elements Organizer" Installer except it is in a language other than English.
Is there anyone familiar enough with coding and command line prompts to change whatever paramenters are necessary to have the installer run in English.
Hopefully there are some Adobe Staff monitoring this message that can answer the question for me.

  • Uninstall Elements before a Windows reinstall?

After one week of a new computer, hackers got into it. Long story short, in order to totally wipe clean and secure it, I have to go back to factory specs and reinstall windows. During that first week, I had installed a brand new copy of PS Elements 10 (never opened it-it had sat on the shelf!).
    1) Is there a limit to how many times I can install the program on the same computer? If I have a problem in the future, will I have used up my installations?
    2) Should I uninstall it first, before doing the windows reinstall or just let it get erased during the Windows 8.1 reinstall process??
Thank you for any words of wisdom!

Nope, there is  no limit on number of installations and uninstallations but make sure that before uninstalling you deactivate your application. There is a limit on number of activations for a serial number which is two. Hence you can use serialized PSE on two different machines.
Please let me know if ti doesn't answer your question.

  • My Photoshop Elements 13 doesn't recognize my Canon PRO-10 printer. I've tried EVERYTHING. Reinstalled all my software, didn't fix anything. Can anyone help?

I have Windows 7 x64 on a desktop PC. I have Photoshop Elements 13. I bought the Canon PRO-10 PRINTER on 2/3 and at first it worked fine. Then I tried to install it as a plug-in in Elements 13, and everything went bad. When I click on AUTOMATION TOOLS it does say "Canon Easy Photo Print Pro" like it should, but when I click on that I get an error message NO SUPPORTED PRINTER FOUND. CONNECT A PRINTER SUPPORTED BY THIS SOFTWARE AND THEN INSTALL A DRIVER. I also tried the FILE > PRINT command which also said there was no printer installed.
I reinstalled the Canon software and driver. Then I called Canon. I got a real live tech person who checked everything out and asked me to print from a different program. That worked fine and he said, the printer is fine. It's a problem with Adobe. Contact them. I uninstalled my Adobe Photoshop Elements 13 and reinstalled it. But the whole situation remains the same. I can't find how to contact a live technician for help so I'm appealing to ANYONE to help me with this. If you can 't help me with the printer problem, can you tell me how to reach a live tech support person at Adobe??

Made editing changes at 4:05 pm.

    Hi,
After talking to 3 different Canon techs who didn't know anything about
this and told me it was Adobe's fault, a 4th Canon tech e-mailed me a list
of the Elements software that is "compatible" with the Canon Pro-10
printer. The list stops at Elements 12! In other words, Canon has not
written the software for their plug-in to work with Elements 13 yet. I
personally am stunned by this. Considering how popular Adobe Elements is,
you'd think Canon would be up-to-date on having their new printer's plug-in
work with Elements 13, which has been out there for some time.
Not only that, Canon's more expensive printer, the Canon PRO-100, also has
the same problem. My friend just bought one and told me the plug-in doesn't
    work with Elements 13.
I have figured out a solution, if it will be of help. I had just
uninstalled Adobe Elements 12 and when I saw that Canon's plug-in worked
with Elements 12, I quickly reinstalled it. Sure enough, when I clicked on
AUTOMATION TOOLS there was the Canon plug-in, and when I clicked on it, the
Canon print screen opened. So I decided I would do my photo editing in
Elements 13, and when ready to print I would open the photo in Elements 12
and print it there. Hope that helps.
