  • Using Elements and Pro together

A friend is helping me with a video project an already has Premiere Pro on a PC so has suggested that I get it also for my MAc. However I can't justify the cost and wonder if it is possible to work on video from Premiere Pro using Elements.
Obviously not to same level but even a basic functionality is OK. ?
Does anyone have any experience of working cross PC/Mac platforms and with Elements / Pro...?

    Welcome to the forum.
As Ann says, there is not much X-platform functionality between PrE and PrPro.
Also, a PC PREL (PrE's Project file) is not X-platform compatible with Mac, even with the same version of PrE installed. I think that this would be a deal-breaker for the workflow that you outline.
Once, it was fairly easy to go from Premiere (not PrE, and before PrPro 1.0, to PrPro 2.0, both PC-only) Projects on a PC to a Mac and vice-versa. If going from Mac to PC, the Project file's extension needed to be added, but other than some Transitions and Effects, that might exist on one platform, but not the other, the files were easy to Open and edit.
For a period of time, a PREL (PrE's Project file) could be Opened in PrPro, so long as the versions of the two programs were somewhat contemporary, i.e. PrPro 2.0 could Open PrE 4.0 PREL files, so long as there were no Themes, Instant Movies, or some 3rd party Transitions/Effects, such as NewBlue FX's.
That does not seem to be the case with at least PrPro CC, but maybe those reporting on the incompatibilities did not have "plain vanilla" PREL's? Nowadays, I rather doubt that there IS much compatibility between PrE and PrPro, but am not on CC, so I cannot test that completely.
Good luck, but I do not see what has been proposed working well, if at all.

  • Elements to Pro and back

At work I use Premiere Pro (CS4), but I'm now trying to do some editing from home and only have a computer that'll take Elements. I need to know what compatibility issues there are. Are Premiere projects interchangeable with Elements and Pro at all? Even if I'm only doing basic cutting and editing...
    Cheers

    Andrew,
With some limitations, I have been able to Open PE4 Projects in PP2, as a test. About 90% translates OK. It depends greatly on just what was done in the editing. A lot in PE does NOT translate to Pro. Even some of the Transitions do not cross-over. Be very careful, if you go this route, and study the resulting import well. You may, or may not, get what you have done to translate.
However, exactly as Steve says, when I tried the other direction, PE4 basically said, "This Project was created in Premiere Pro. Use that program to Open them... " Then it made some disparaging comment about my I.Q., or similar. [Grin]
If one had to do X-program editing, the best would be to Export as DV-AVI and Import those into the necessary programs. This would be the only way that I would mix up the two programs. If you do this, give very strong consideration as to what you might wish to do in the other program. As an example, if you added Transitions in PE, and would wish to edit those, you will no longer have the necessary Handles, if you cut out a Transition. You will ONLY be able to shorten the two Clips, to apply another Transition. Were it me, I'd assemble with Handles, in say PE, and then Export the DV-AVI for final cutting in Pro. It WILL mean that you'll be using the Razor a bunch, but you will still have your Handles. Maybe even add Black Video between each Clip (I always have a 02 sec. Black Video for similar in each Project's Project Panel). Still have to Razor, but at least you can find the places to "cut" more easily.
Personally, I'd just do the job in Pro, using PE only to Import files, that Pro will refuse to work with. PE is better at this, than its "big brother." When I use this workflow, it's Import into PE, Export as DV-AVI and Import that into Pro.
    Good luck,

  • Need help installing Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements on MacBook Pro.

I'm trying to reinstall Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements on my MacBook Pro. The disc is appearing on my desktop, but when I go to use the installation system, it's telling me the program is not supported. Here is what I'm seeing when I open the disc:
Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Which version of mac os x are you using?
That looks like the install files for a windows operating system.
You would need the photoshop elements 6 disk for a mac operating system.

  • How to remove duplicate photos with Elements and Revel?

While on vacation this year, I uploaded pictures from my camera to my iPad to Revel.  When I got home, I copied all of the pictures from my camera to my harddrive on my laptop and imported them into Elements 12.  On my laptop I store photos in subdirectories like this:  \Lisa\albums\Pictures201509.  I found duplicates of most of my photos in \Users\Owner\My Pictures\Adobe\Revel\My Catalog Old.  I would like to clean these up so I only have once copy of each photo on my harddrive.
    I have 3 questions:
    Why did this happen?
How can I clean this up and not complete mess up my Elements and Revel catalogs?
How can I prevent this in the future?
    thanks,
    Lisa

The folks at www.overmacs.com/photosweeper told me that they are upgrading their product so it will work with Apple Photos.  It works now with iPhoto and Aperture.  It has many adjustments to detect same name files, and even same or similar content images.  Monitor their website for a future release.  There is a small fee for the pro version, which is well worth the price.

  • I replaced PC with MACbook, can I download my Elements and Lightroom or do I need to repurchase?

I replaced my PC which is broken and no longer usable with a new Macbook Pro.  I would like to download my Elements and Lightroom in the Mac OS version.  Can I do this or do I need to repurchase.  I just bought the Elements in August 2014 and the Lightroom in 2013.
    Thanks so much
    Teresa

you do not need to re-purchase.  both those are cross-platform products so you just download the mac installation files and use your mac serial numbers to install on your mac.

  • How can I transfer older licenses - Adobe Photoshop Elements and Adobe Premiere ( 9,10 or 11 ) to daughter's computer ?

So she can use at home to learn ?
I am using Ver 12 and my non profit has multiple licenses Premiere Pro CC
The Seller said " I bought it ( Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements ) and upgraded to the next version.  It was installed once so it is like new. "
Any problems in transferring both older licenses to my daughter ?

It is not clear to me what the situation is as far as who owns what, but if the older versions were used to purchase upgrades to the newer versions then whoever owns the newer versions probably doesn't want to give up the licenses to the older versions because they will lose the ability to reinstall if they no longer own the versions that qualified them for the upgrade.
As far as transferring licenses goes, see the following:

  • Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements included in Membership?

    Hi everyone,
This looks like a weird request, but I want tot install Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements, using my Full Creative Cloud membership. Personally I use the pro-applications, but for educational reasons I would like to study the interface since it's slightly different from what I'm used to, and I need to teach other people how to use the elements-versions.
But I have a feeling these apps are not included in the membership.  Are am I looking at the wrong place?
    Thank you.
    Best regards,
    Koen

Correct. Elements products are not part of CC.

  • PSE 6 and Pro Show Gold

I am using PSE6 to catalogue my pictures. How can I transfer the pictures from the organizer to Pro Show Gold which I prefer to use as my slide show software?
I have tried dragging and dropping, selecting all , click on copy in PSE6 and then click on paste in Pro show Gold, none of these approaches work, am I missing something?

Ken, When I right click PSG is NOT an option, it does show PSE but PSG. I can drag and drop within PSG but they are not in the same order as I have them is PSE. I guess I thought the benefit of using PSE as my organizer was that I could get and keep them in an order that I wanted.
When I transfer them from PSE to the desktop it reorders them. I guess I will either have to do extra work is wanting to use PSG or use the less robust Elements and Premiere slideshow programs.
One of the features that I like about PSG is that you can use your windows file name as a caption, there is no provision for that in Elements or Premiere which means that I have to retype all the file names as captions in Elements if I want them to appear in the slide show.
Yikes, I have over 8000 images with more to come
Thanks for all the suggestions, I really apprecaite your willingness to offer some ideas

  • Elements and Lightroom installed in Mac Mini. Do I need to buy separate products for my MacBook?

I have purchased Photoshop Elements and Lightroom and installed them in my table Mac. Now I'm going on travelling and would need them with me also in my laptop (MacBook Pro). Is there any chance to update my current purchases so that I could use the programs also in my laptop, or do I have to buy separate products for this? Could not find an easy way to do this. Thanks!

I don't know about Lightroom, but PSE allows you to have activated installations on two computers, so you're good there. Just install it on the laptop.

  • Elements and Lightbox

I use Photoshop Elements and ACDSee Pro which can organize, catalog, batch process, etc. I want to switch to Lightbox but can't find any documentation that states it is compatible with Elements. Do any of you know if Lightbox and Elements are compatible?

Depends on what you mean by "compatible".
If you simply want to transfer the photos, I'm sure they are "compatible", but you have to do the transfer yourself.
If you want to transfer PSE tags, captions, GPS locations, that requires more work, but I think it can be done.
If you want to transfer PSE Albums/Collections and creations, I'm pretty sure those don't transfer.

  • Lenovo Basic and Pro Dock Design Flaw / Suggestion

Just and idea.  Not sure if this can get back to the design team?
Lenovo laptops have their CPU and venting to the top left of the keyboard.
    1. Both the Basic and Pro Dock have the laptop release mechanism directly blocking the CPU venting. This does not appear to be helping convect heat away. Consider moving the release mechanism somewhere else in the next iteration?
    2. Would it make sense to integrate a cooling fan into the docking station?
Ex-IBMer.  My 10 prior laptops were either Lenovo X or T Series laptops.  They included the highest specification Intel CPU at the time.  The use case is not graphics intensive.  All 7 of the 10 laptops suffered overheating issues after 2 years.  Have stuck with Lenovo as like the track button and computing power to weight ratio.
    Thanks.

    Hello Mark.
    Thanks for the reply.
My use case is that I need to work with data that cannot be copied to my device, and on a physically connected network.
    (A matter of data security)
    1. The Helix does not have an ethernet card, and as suggested in the device specs pdf file, a physical network conection can be obtained by using a usb dongle.
    2. Using a USB mass storage to use data that cannot be saved on the network, or for data that was approved to be shown in meetings.
    3. For use of a large external storage device (external 1+ TB hdd), to use large files.
Having to connect and disconnect the USB devices every time I dock/undock the device, will be very annoying,
and might even prevent docking/undocking, if the device holds open files for long processing.
(I believe the Helix was designed to be used for real work, and not just as a content consuming tablet)
I know changing the location of the USB port is a complicated task, involving a lot of physical components, unlike a  software or a firmware patch.
Since I consider Lenovo, to be a company that designs high end, reliable, and highly usable devices,
keeping business oriented uses in mind, seeing that a constant USB port connection was overlooked was a very disappointing surprise.
Again - many thanks for the reply,
and for taking my comment into consideration.
    PS
An idea that just crossed my mind : make a dock that has a demerit/groove where the tablet has the USB port, and supply a USB extension cable, that will "shift" the USB port and "unblock" it.
I know this is not the most elegant fix, but it is "quick fix", that can be used until the board, case, and all other elements are re-designed to move the USB port to one of the tablet sides.

  • Export from Indeisgn to flash, missing elements and animation!

Hi, I have a problem whit exporting files from Indesign cc 2014 -> Flash pro cc.
When i open a exported document in flash im missing elements and the animations.
I get some images and text but never vecorbased rectangles or anything graphical made in indesign.
Is the fla export function broken?  I looked at several tutroials and guides but i can't find anything about this problem.
Is the workflow from indesign these days -> eps->ai->flash-animation->save?
    Thanks,
    Emil E

like dev it comes 30.12 and in production getting like 30,12.
but make sure i am using same keyfigure.

Check the user default settings in SU01D tcode in dev and pro.
SU01D -> enter ur user id -> goto Default tab and check the decimal notation.
I guess it is 1,234,567.89 in DEV and 1.234.567,89 in PRO.
Please make sure that this setting is same in DEV and PRO.
you can ask your basis consultant to changes the settings....
