Email problem again!

Once again, just like on May 6, 2015, Comcast's email system is screwed up.  I and someone else I have spoken with this morning are again both unable to send emails from our home email clients.  We get this error message: SSL Negotiation Failed: Unknown Error
Certificate bad: Destination Host name does not match  host name in certificate
But ignoring this error because Certificate is trusted
The connection with the server has been lost.
Cause:  (200) On May 6, 2015, there were others posting to this forum about this problem.  By the afternoon, Comcast had apparently reversed whatever settings change it had made, and email was working again.  Please get your email network people to work on fixing this again, and preventing it from happening.  I prefer Comcast's speed over what I can get from CenturyLink, but reliability has to be the first priority.

Fixing Euroda can be tedious due to the way it handles certificates, but the instructions in the link above should work.
Please let us know if you still can't send.

  • Email Problems again on Second 3G

It seems that this second phone is beginning to have the same problem as the first....
Now I have to restart twice a day instead of just in the morning before work. I now have to restart in the morning and evening before leaving from work to send and receive emails. Over a week ago I noticed that I could not send more than 3 images to the cloud (MobileMe) when I would get an error message and then the email with the attached image would sit in the out box till I restarted.....
Along with this... regular email responses seem to be lost and not sent out till after the morning and evening restart.
    Anyone else having this issue.
Everything else seems to be working as it should but the email program of this system. It is very frustrating after replying to a customer when I'm on the road and find out that there was no email sent and have to retype it.
    BR.

This sounds like you are having an SMTP problem.
If you are relying on MobileMe to handle your outgoing mail there might be a problem with your MobileMe account. There were also widespread MobileMe outages over the weekend which were not acknowledged by Apple. (MobileMe showed green across the board even though it was un-reachable).
    Things you might try:
1)You might try creating a free Gmail account (unless you have one already) and in the gmail control panel, enabling Imap. Then you can use Google as an additional SMTP server. (its secure, and fast, and can be used for all accounts if you wish). Be sure to set it up properly per Google's page: https://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=77702
The iphone tries each smtp server in turn, so merely having another one might solve the outgoing problem.
    3) Rather than turning the phone off, have your tried flipping on Airplane mode briefly (30 seconds)? Some times this will reset connections that are just hozed.
    4) Before going to bed, charge the phone till the Power Plug symbol appears. This resets the usage totals in Settings / General / Usage. Then check them in the morning. If Usage time has increased significantly over night, your phone has had the radio on all night trying to reach the server, and that indicates a basic problem with MobileMe setup. (If you leave it plugged in all night you might not notice and battery depletion that would accompany this, so I would unplug it for this test.
    5) Have you tried going into Mail each morning and instead of rebooting (swatting flys with a hammer) simply holding the Home button down for 10 seconds till mail returns to the desktop? This forces a mail shutdown without shutting down the whole phone.
    6) You probably won't like this recommendation: Dump MobileMe all together. Its not working for you. Simple mail will.

  • HT4859 problem turning on phone there was a problem turning on your email. try again

I am getting a message "problem turning on phone there was a problem turning on your email. try again"

Have you tried the simple things first like a reboot...hold both the power and home buttons until the Apple logo appears and it restarts, ignoring the red slider if it appears?  Sometimes it is also necessary to remove and reenter a password in case it has been corrupted.  And sometimes I have just had a bad connection signal and that has been the issue.

  • N8 major email problems

I've been happy with my N8 but I've had quite a lot problems with my email. It worked fine at first with the exception that my sentmail didn't show in the sentmail folder. I then tried to fix the problem and adjust the settings by creating the email account again. I could not do that because the phone for some reason could not contact the mail server. Then I reseted the phone (not a hard reset). And when I tried to set up my email again I got the same error. So now I don't have the email working at all. What should I do?

    hm, sounds strange.
Could you please provide the steps you did in more detail.
Here the email works fine. So,  if you describe what you actually did, then we can think about a solution.
    Greetings from Sichuan, China

  • A dns problem again?

I sent email to [email protected] but the engineer there said he did not receive it. Also, I did not receive the email he sent to me through his sun.com email. it sounds a dns problem again.
I have changed our mx record to:
    @ IN MX junk.domain.com.
    before, it was:
@ IN MX junk ==>would this cause dns problems?
Here is the entry in the mail.log which seemed that sun has received my email successfully:
    09-Dec-2005 09:39:10.59 tcp_local D 2 [email protected] rfc822;[email protected] [email protected] dns;btmx1.sun.com (relay1.sun.com [IntraStore TurboSendmail] ESMTP Service ready) smtp;250 recipient <[email protected]> OK

Your log shows that Sun did indeed receive your mail.
Sun's mail infrastructure has been under DOS attack for some days. Sometimes that's caused delays of up to several hours for inbound mail to get to us.
We also have had some virus infected systems pounding our servers. More delays.
We do contract with an external company to scan for spam/virus scanning. Those folk historically have lost us some mails, too.
Your MX record isn't likely to make any difference in you sending out mail, but in your ability to receive mails, yes.

  • Iphone 4 Email problem, cannot reply or send an email only receive.

I have my new iphone4 setup and working perfectly interms of receiving email from my various accounts. However, when I attempt to replay or initiate an email nothing happens.
I have reviewed all the setup options and cannot locate where the problem lies. Has anyone else had any problems and if so can you share the solution.
    Thanks

I only recently started having this problem in the last week or so. I've had my iPhone4 since the end of June and suddenly, I start experiencing weird quirks and this was one. This morning, I finally powered down and restarted the phone and responding to and creating email works again. Give that a shot. If that doesnt work, perhaps try removing your email account from the phone and re-adding it. <<shrug>> I dunno... Anyway, good luck!

  • EMAIL PROBLEMS - HELP & THANKS!

I just turned off my iPhone 4 - I usually leave it on 24/7, but I was having a problem (read on) so thought maybe if I turned on/off, that would help. Here's the issue: Starting last night, when I read my email in preview mode, I see the first 5 lines of the email, but when I open the email, all it shows it who it's from and who it was sent to, and there's no text to read in the body of the email, which there definitely is, as I see it in the preview. Now that I turned OFF my phone, when I press the MAIL icon, absolutely nothing shows up - just a white screen, even though the mail icon shows I have new mail. HELP & THX!

1)From the home screen double press the home button. This will reveal the multitasking slider, showing you all open apps
2)Press and hold one of the icons until they start to wobble and a minus symbol appears
3)Tap on the minus symbol to close the email app. You can repeat this with any other open apps
4)Press the home button again to go back to the home screen
5)Tap the email icon again and your emails should now be back to normal.

  • EMAIL PROBLEM FIXED?

I'm wondering if peoples' email problems with the new iPhone and/or with the 2.0 upgrade have now mysteriously (or not so mysteriously) gone away.
If so, please post here to share your experiences.
I think I've solved my problem, though it may still be too early to tell, and last night I posted on another thread here (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1603761 ). I've pasted that post below.
What I see this morning in a couple of other posts is people who also seem to have solved their problem, though each has a slightly different story.
However, the common denominator among them all seems to be setting up IMAP instead of POP accounts for email.
If your problem seems to be solved, please post here and tell the world how you did it.
Here's what seemed to have worked for me:
OK, it's only been a few hours, but I've done something that (at least for these few hours) seems to be working.
    Time will tell.
    Here's what I did:
    1. Deleted both email accounts from my iPhone.
    2. Changed one of my two accounts on my desktop computer from POP to IMAP (when I say changed, what I mean is added a new IMAP account and then disabled the POP version. You can't really make that type of change once an account has been created, so you have to open a new one and either disable or delete the old one, savings messages first, of course.)
    3. Set up the same IMAP account on my iPhone.
    It's been working ever since.
Again, though - that's only a few hours.
I also tried to change (again, not change, but add a new one) my other email account to IMAP on my computer, but it wouldn't let me. Maybe Comcast doesn't allow IMAP accounts. Anybody know for sure?
I will see how this all looks in the morning and into tomorrow and repost.
As of right now, it looks like IMAP is the way to go.
It still hasn't been 24 hours since it seemed to get better, but this time it seems to be consistently updating the mail from the server and that's a first.

Old Yahoo Account Push IMAP Mail Solution
Yes, one can always create a new Yahoo! account in order to have PUSH Yahoo! email on the iPhone. However, many people cannot get their old established account at Yahoo! to set up on iPhone. I think that I figured out how to get it to work today.
After many previous failed attempts, today I decided to try deleting all of the folders that I had set up in the old Yahoo! account as well as all emails in the Inbox, Trash, and Bulk etc. (I saved them all using POP to mail.app) I then immediately tried to save the IMAP settings on the iPhone and it worked. I'm not sure if the added folders full of emails were the problem or the current inbox full of emails but deleting them all allowed iPhone to create the PUSH account.
I hope it works for everyone.

    Kevin,
I tried a simple test case and it worked fine (with the real e-mail addresses):
    apex_mail.send(p_to => '<[email protected]>',
    p_from => '<[email protected]>',
    p_body => ' ',
    p_body_html => 'Some text',
p_subj => 'Test');And when I looked at the original message (on gmail) I got:

  • Nokia Email Problems and Version 10?

    Hi All Nokia People
I have an E66 supplied by Vodafone UK.
I run Nokia email which has been working fine up until the last couple of months.
It is set to store emails up to 1 month, but recently it deleted all emails within a month and left a lot over a month old.
Then it removed everything, and now after doing a software and reinstalling Nokia Email it will only store 3 days even though it is set to remove older than 1 month.
Also I have seen version 10 for Symbian S60v5 is available, when will this be available for general download and more specifically my E66?

    Hi there.
After dealing with every kind of email problems for about two weeks, I finally solved my issue.
I was carefully watching the imap session logs to understand the problem. I realized all my sessions with my phone was unauthorized. It was stupid and impossible as I imported the server certificate to the phone... But, everything is buggy and possible.
Ok, all my "suddenly stopped connecting", "oh does it support IMAP idle", "nothing is wrong with the great nokia, blame your server", "can't connect email", "does it support imap", "what's wrong with my pop account", "do i have to share my mail password with nokia through email.nokia.com", "what's the difference between native email support and nokia messaging" issues are gone with that.
I deleted the certificate! Since you got it, it doesn't matter whether you delete the mailbox (account) on the phone or not. It stays in the security module of the phone. So, go and delete it first. Then, accept it again on your next connection...
For my E55 device I went to:
Menu -> Control Panel -> Settings -> General -> Security -> Certificate management -> Trusted site certificates
and deleted the certificate for the server I typed for "incoming email server" when I set my account. You'll probably recognize the name of it.
I hope this will help to many out there.

  • Iphone email problem-has anyone had a problem caused by the VPN app, Hotspot Shield?

Has anyone had an iPhone email problem associated with the VPN app, Hotspot Shield?

I just want to make a record for the Apple Community. After installing Hotspot Shield on my iPhone 5, I developed a host of email problems including erratic reception and recurrent failures to send emails. I called Apple Support and, after standard repair measures failed (like deleting email accounts and reinstalling them) was advised to try deleting Hotspot Shield.
Removal of Hotspot Shield was unexpectedly difficult (simple deletion of the icon that works with other Apps did not suffice). With the help of Apple Support, the Hotspot Shield app was finally eradicated. The result was that all the email problems disappeared.
Again, I just wish to make this record of iPhone email trouble clearly caused by Hotspot Shield available in case someone else runs into the same problem. I did not contact Hotspot Shield but the point is that I began with an email problem that was mysterious to Apple Support and we finally traced it to a recent installation of Hotspot Shield.

  • Email problems with BB synched via BES. No email notifications and can't send replies.

This isn't a question, but more of a public service announcement for those like myself that manage to screw up their email settings. I recently had problems with my email in that I would not get audible or visual notifications of new email and I couldn't send replies although I could forward and create new emails. The problem is that I am using Desktop Manager on two PCs and only one is configured to access my corporate email account, the one that is redirected to the BB. The default settings of my Desktop Manager installation was to synchronize the device date and time automatically when connected to the PC. Connecting my BB to my home machine would cause the email problems. I had to wipe and reactivate to fix my problems.
So, if you want to use the BB on two PCs and one is not configured for the email account going to the phone... disable the auto synchronization option BEFORE connecting the device to that machine and launching Desktop Manager. It would also be nice if the Desktop Manager installer had an option to install on a PC that is used for backup/recovery and application loading only. The installer had two options IIRC and your choice was that the BB is used with BES or with a personal email account.

Internally, your invites are processed by the server.
If an outside sends a new invite to you, the server doesn't know about it until you add the event to your calendar app.
You'll find settings in Mail and Calendar apps (depending on client OS) to automatically add invites to the Calendar.
    So to sum it up.
Internal users, processed in real-time directly by the server
External invites, must be processed by the client app, and depending on OS/Settings, could require manually adding or acknowleding. Also.. in 10.7/10.8 you will see an inbox tray in the Calendar app, your invites may show up there (and you'll need to click to ack)
    Hope that helps.

    The Quick Answer
Follow the instructions below to set up IMAP1 access in most email clients.
Google Apps users, please follow the default instructions unless otherwise noted, replacing 'your_domain.com' with your actual domain2 name.
this is all greek to me. WHAT IS STARTTLS? On the first page of Apple set up there is a TLS certificate and it is marked NONE- should I change it to the long APPLE CERT option?  The next page under ADVANCED: THERE IS A BOX SSL MARKED.  Then IMAP Path Prefix - I put stmp.gmail.com.. is that right?  Port 993 can  use this one? as 456 doesn't work and 587 said it wasn't safe.  Under AUTHENTICATION I used PASSWORD.  Should I have used external client cert TLS?
Please help me set this up securely. Thanks

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off"

  • The same problem again with HP Simple Pass fingerprint reader after upfrading from Firefox 4 to Firefox 5. I have already installed HPSimPlePass 7.0.74.0 to fix the problem after upgrading to Firefox 4.

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 with a fingerprint reader. I had the same problem as many other people when upgrading to Firefox 4, : I couldn't use the HP Simple Pass to enter a website needing a username and password by just swiping my fingerprint. I fixed the problem by downloading the new HPSimPlePass 7.0.74.0. This fixed the problem and I was very happy. Since upgrading to Firefox 5 I have the same problem again, but I already have the new version of HP Simple Pass. How can this be fixed so that I can use this fingerprint scan feature again, or where can I download Firefox 4 again?
