Email Results in Captivate 7
How do I email the results depending on pass or fail? Is there any way to get a more detailed analytics in terms of which questions were passed or failed?
Right now i have selected "on pass" and "on fail" to send the results but that doesn't seem to be working....
Has anybody been able to achieve any kind of reporting of statistics from Captivate content that is consumed in an article of a DPS.
Using Captivate 7, indesign cc to overlay the index.html file from Captivate. The widget above works great but it has to be viewed in a browser...
a possible workaround would be to upload the actual html5 files and then just have the overlay show the actual web page but wondering if anyone has been able to get stats from in the app...

I'm using Captivate to deliver a quiz and have set up the
quiz to email results. Occasionally - rarely, would be a better
word - it works. However, most of the time I just hear clicks and
the email never comes up.
I'm running Flash 8 in IE (the global security settings trick
from a previous thread didn't do anything) and the quiz is also
running inside a frameset. Recommendations? Workarounds? I've got a
client waiting...KindaMMG,
I had a similar problem with the mailto: not working.
Running on Xp Pro
Outlook 2003
Traced problem to the registry setting for email client.
Changed the setting for the email client to show
....outlook.exe" /mail "%1"
The email link then worked.

Email reporting isues Captivate 3
Has anyone had problems with the enabling email reporting in
Captivate 3. When trying to send Quiz results via email the button
does not trigger email client and an error message is posted at the
bottom of the HTML page. After a search it looks like this is a
common problem with Captivate 3. Not sure how to look under the
hood to check the code for the button. Can anyone assist.I'm having problems but not exactly the same. Originally an
email window would pop up for me for 'submit quiz.' I want to do
away with that so I tried instructions at
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/captivate/articles/store_cpresults.html
to eventually skip the email part. When I changed the SendMail
function (which may be where you need to look), nothing pops up
when I test the html file. When I went back into my captivate quiz
to check quiz preferences and republished, an email was triggered.
However now the email is 'invisible.' I see warning messages from
outlook that another application is trying to send mail through it
but that's it. Meanwhile, I have it set to attach the results, not
put in the body text but it's putting the results in the body text.
It's all very quirky from my experience. I'm using version

Multiple Quizzes with multiple results (in Captivate 6)
Hey guys, Thanks for reading!
Does anyone know if it is possible to do multiple tests with multiple results in captivate 6? or if it is possible to have a pre-test with a quiz, and have separate results for each?
I've been having a play with captivate 6 and when I put a quiz in, it overrides the results slide for my pre-test.
Looking at the results slide master properties I can choose to have results for one of my quizzes but not both (even on separate slides):
It wont even let me insert another slide based on the other result.
I would like to know if multiple quizzes with multiple results is possible in Captivate 6?, or if I am simply doing something wrong?
Thanks!Sorry for way-late reply...
It's really more how your LMS handles 'courses' and the terminology it uses.
Essentially, most often, a 'SCORM Package' (SCO) is a 'course'. I'd rather call each SCO a 'lesson' as, to me, 'courses' should be setup in the LMS with a series of 'Lessons'.
Regardless of the terminology, each 'SCO' is launched by the LMS and one score can be recorded for it via SCORM.
So if you need multiple final scores recorded, each of those final scores need to be in their own SCO.
A common approach is a Pre-Test SCO (or 'lesson', or 'course', whatever term), a 'Content' SCO perhaps with some interspersed scored interactions, and a Post-Test SCO...all three merged together as a 'course' (or whatever term) within the LMS.
That said, as said, it really all depends on how your LMS handles various SCOs...

Emailing results of a SQL Query....
I am new to Oracle and was wondering if there is a way to create an email task that could be used to email results of a sql query. My query returns emails addresses that meet a specified criteria. I want to use an email task that takes these addresses as variables and sends out an email to the specified email address.
Anyone provide any help with how I might do this?
Thanks.Hi,
The odiSqlUnload has a "select" command. Is possible, at your process, work with the "LPAD()" and/or "RPAD()" function to complete the necessary whitespace at each column?
To the column heading I suggest you use the "union" like: (I put the lpad and rpad fuctions as example...)
select col1, col2, col3
from(
select 1 as internal_order, 'header_col1' as col1, 'header_col2' as col2, 'header_col3' as col3
from dual
UNION
select 2 as internal_order, RPAD(col1, 10, ' ') as col1 , LPAD(col2, 50, ' ') as col2 , col3
from your_table)
order by internal_order
Do you think this will work for you? -
I use email for my quiz results, b/c I don't have a LMS. I'm
trying to get the answers the users chose, just not their score so
I go into Quiz Preferences and in Reporting, Reporting Level I have
chosen Interactions and Score, but my emails only have the core
data and not the interaction data. I see that a lot of people are
experiencing the same bug, (which I did report also), but did
anyone figure out a way to get around this problem? Do I have to
make sure something is/isn't clicked to have this work?Hi, and welcome! Glad to see you as a new active user of the
Captivate Community!!
The unpredictable behavior of using "Email" as the results
vehicle for scoring is as old - no older than - Captivate itself.
It goes back to the days of "RoboDemo" the predecessor of
Captivate.
There is no advice anyone can give you. But if you would like
to support further development of the Email function, you can
indicate your interest on the Feature Request (and bug report)

feature, the more emphasis the Development Team will place on that

Identifying Which Quiz in Emailed Results
I have quiz results for multiple elearning modules all going
to the same email address. When I look at the results, I cannot
tell which module the person actually took. It just looks like
this:
Core Data
"Status","Location","Raw Score","Max Score","Min
Score","Time"
"passed","12","100","100","0","00:09:19"
Is there something I can do to make the quiz results I get
identify the module they are originating from?
TIA,In my group, our published filenames reflect the tutorial,
module and lesson information (via the "Project Title" field in the
Publish dialog). We use this to uniquely identify each lesson when
the user takes it.
For brevity, we use an abbreviation for the tutorial name,
followed by the module and lesson number, and the full text lesson
name, as in "msoffice_0402_creating_a_template". Note that we do
not use spaces as these are problematic when used in file/folder
names on the web.
You can leverage this idea to automatically include the
published file name in the e-mailed results.
Modify your sendMail() function in the appropriate e-mail
template file in the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate
3\Templates\Publish folder as shown below. After republishing, it
*should* include the filename in the body of the e-mail.
I say *should*, since Captivate being the unreliable beastie
that it is, your mileage may vary.
As far as securing the results, there are scores of posts in
these forums that mention methods for doing so. They all revolve
around 2 basic concepts, which both involve creating a server-side
mechanism that intercepts the results and passes them on to a
server-side reporting solution of your own design. If creating a
web application isn't your bag, then the built-in reporting
options, warts and all, are going to be your only option.

"Send email" button in Captivate 5.5 quiz
I am trying to get the results of a completed Captivate 5.5 quiz emailed to me from other people's computers, after they complete the quiz. The Send email button does nothing (no error message and no email). The quiz has been published in each of: PDF, Flash and HTML and the email button does not work in any of them.
After looking at postings on several forums, it appears that the problem may be a bug in Captivate or possibly a setting that needs to be changed in Flash player. The problem is that if it is necessary to change the Flash player settings, I can't do this on another user's computer, so this will never work.
In another project, I have used the send email button in Acrobat LiveCycle and that works perfectly well (opens an email message and attaches the information from the current Acrobat file as an XML attachment) - what's the problem with Captivate?
SteveThe problem isn't Captivate. It's the whole concept of using email as a 'reliable' reporting mechanism.
You are correct that this 'feature' will not work if you're trying to use it from published content in a folder on your local drive or a LAN server unless that folder has been added as a trusted location in your Flash Global Security settings.
You are also correct that it would be either impossible or impractical to try and change these settings on each end user's PC. To have any chance of success, your best output format for this would be HTM/SWF/JS and you should be considering delivering the content only from a web server, not a LAN or other type of drive.
However, even if you do everything right, email reporting (as you found with LiveCycle forms) still has many limitations and should be considered unreliable. There are too many ways it can fail, and most of those ways are outside your control. Added to this is the fact that since the solution requires the user to send the email message and not change any data first, it's really NOT all that secure. You could not hope to use it for courses where serious certification was a must.
The only times I have used it successfully with Captivate required a custom-coded web page (PHP) on a web server (Apache or IIS) that was used to dynamically send the email after receiving data in an encoded URL. Basically, the Captivate module would call this web page and the page would add the data from the URL variables to build the email. However, this is NOT standard Captivate functionality. I went this route because the client's LMS was only a few weeks away and they needed a very temporary solution. I would avoid doing something similar again unless there were no other available solution. -
Good morning!
I have created a short survey in Cp and want to publish,
place on server, email link to survey and have users survey results
emailed to me. Can I do that? I am finding that all options to
"email" only open an email to designated address and do not attach
or include survey results.
Help!
;) Thanks, JanelleHi Janelle
I hate to burst your bubble here, but you should be aware
that this isn't easy with Captivate. If it were, Adobe wouldn't be
using a service like SurveyMonkey for its own surveys!
Don't get me wrong here. Captivate is totally awesome and
rocks for what it does. Unfortunately, surveys aren't one of its
strong points.
If that is your goal, to create and easily distribute
surveys, I would suggest using something like SurveyMonkey. The
link is below.

Email result when analysis finish
Hi,
I am working on data analysis in a student computer lab. Since there is no people at night. I can use 10 computers at the same time. However, I don't want to sit in the computer lab overnight. Is that possible to send the result via internet to a email account? OR any method make me to receive the result via internet?
ThanksIn labview 7.0 in the functions pallete under communication you should find a pallette called smtp e-mail. I have the full version but it might not be available for the base package. If it is not I will create you a VI that will do what you want but try the pallette first and let me know.
Joe.

With "Download Headers" option checked, opening plain text emails results in cropped body text
When I open raw plain text emails (i.e. not formatted as HTML) I only see the first
255 characters of the email body; all of the remainder is chopped off, and never appears no matter how many times I re-open the email.
I have narrowed this down to my somewhat unusual download preferences in Outlook. They are configured as follows:
Send/Receive -> Download Preferences -> Download Headers (checked).
I know the email text is there in full, because when I point my web browser at OWA, I can see the full body.
If at first I choose Mark to Download and then Process Marked Headers, I can then open the plain text email and see the body in full.
When I open HTML emails I have no problems, regardless of whether the email download was forced or not.
This issue existed on my old Office 2010 installation for XP too. It persists now I have upgraded to Office 2013 on Win 7.
This is not an acknowledged issue yet within the Outlook team (in fact, a possibly related issue was
reported by someone else 3 months ago but suggested to be a font corruption issue, which is incorrect).
It seems like Outlook just forgets to download the full text for plain text emails when opening them. It's repeatable every time, so it doesn't seem like a race condition. (To reproduce: set your Inbox download preferences as above, then send
yourself a plain text email, wait for the Inbox headers to finish refreshing and then open the new email).
We use a 3rd party provider (Cobweb) for our email service and I believe they are using Exchange 2013.
We use ESET Smart Security Suite and I have tried disabling the scanner for that but see no change in the outcome. I would appreciate if anyone without ESET could try to reproduce these steps for themselves and confirm.
Starting Outlook in Safe Mode does not solve it.
Note: I already asked this
question at the Office Community site and it was suggested I
post on the Exchange Server Outlook Clients forum. The feedback there suggested it to be client related, so now I've been directed to post here!
Thanks,
MarcelHi Melon, thanks for your response.
My plain text font is set up as the default, Automatic.
In any case, I can see the first 255 characters of the plain text body, so plain text font colour can be eliminated as a potential problem.
After the 255th character, the body text then stops. There are no "hidden characters". If I shrink the window height to accommodate just what I see, the vertical scrollbar does not appear. This confirms that there are no hidden lines of text
below.
The mail is simply not downloaded from the server correctly. If I drag the mail onto my desktop, then view that file in Programmer's Notepad, I can see that after the position representing the 255th character in the body of the email, there is garbage (control
characters).
If, instead, I first mark the email for downloaded and then click the "process marked headers", wait for it to download and then drag it onto my desktop, by contrast, the body contents look complete and this is reflected in the fact that I can
see the whole email when I open it in Outlook.
This problem has so far affected me on four different PC setups (1xWinXP, 3xWin7) and two versions of Outlook (2010 and 2013). However, Cobweb -- our cloud email provider -- did recently upgrade to Exchange 2013, so that might be an important factor.
I don't think I can remember seeing these plain text issues in the 10 years previous to that upgrade during which I've been using various flavours of Outlook.
I have supplied repro steps in the original report above. Could someone please try these? I have expanded them in full below for simplicity:
To reproduce:
1. Change your download preferences in Outlook. They are configured from the ribbon bar as follows (assuming you are using Outlook in Cached Exchange mode, connecting to Exchange 2013):
Send/Receive -> Download Preferences -> Download Headers (checked).
2. Send yourself a plain text email containing more than 300 characters of text.
3. Wait for the Inbox headers to finish refreshing.
4. Open the new email.
Result: The email body will be truncated at the 255th character.
Expected: The email body should show all the characters. -
Black Line in Body of OSX Leopard Mail Email - Resulting from Form Distribution
I have created a form and am sending it via email to be completed. In Snow Leopard Mail the resultant email has the attached form and the instructions are hidden by a black band running across the email page. Any suggestions as to what might be going on. The email is being sent via google gmail then to Mail.
ThanksI think I have heard about a problem in Mail that you have to reinstall Mail or go to apple's website and look for an update for Mail that addresses this problem.

DWMX / SQL / ASP
I have a very simple form... 4 fields
1 - Textbox to enter name
2 - Drop downs to select location and type of issue
1 - Comment box to describe in more detail the issue....
I have notification setup to email the results to the
appropriate person
upon submission.. the issue im having is the following.. the
email will go
to the department that needs to get it based on the Issue
drop down... the
drop down is populate from a table containing 2 fields (
Issue Name and

My question is how can i capture the label name instead of
the value which
in this case is the email address?
I want the email to be sent to the email address, but i want
the email to
display the label name....Try this,
<%=(rsCombo.Fields.Item("issue").Value)%>

The option to send results by email is a perfect solution for
my application.
However I am sure at the beginning of the week adding this to
the results page my project closed perfectly after the email had
been sent, Today It does not.
I am sure I read somewhere that there was an option to choose
whether it closed or not but I just cant find it now.
Does it make a difference if it is published Stand alone or

I am also very interested in this. Does anybody have any
suggestions on how to hide the Continue-button until the Email
button has been clicked.. Or perhaps assign the Continue-function
to the E-mailbutton..? -
How about this: When the user fills out a form and submits it, can the results be attached as a csv file to a notification? For example, they fill out the form which includes a 'forward to' email address, submit it, and the csv results are emailed to that email address?
Or, if a csv isn't possible, can they forward their results as a filled in pdf to the email of their choice?
One other question: Is there a way to pre-populate fields based on registered user data, such as name, phone, email, etc.? By this, I mean users that are registered on my website.
Thanks. There is no way to do that. You have to manually export out responses to CSV.

How to download my products in a second computer?
Hi! I bought a product from Adobe, and as I remeber, I have right to install them in a second computer. How to do it?
