Email set up options

When I ran the set up wizard I used the Blackberry Internet Service option because we are a small non profit that has to purchase our IT service by the hour. Our ISP does not have any spam filtering service and we rely on Outlook & Norton to filter at the point of downloading to the user. Which has worked great to this point.
Well needless to say I am now getting 100 spam a day on my Blackberry 8330 from Verizon.  Any suggestions? I guess I need to start over and use the Blackberry Desktop Redirect option. I didn't go this way originally because we loss power at least three times a month and I don't want to have to call in and tell someone to go start my computer and open Outlook, but it appears I have few options. Any specific suggestion would be appreciate because I am a real dunce when it comes to all of this and frustrated.   Clark

You really really do need to filter spam at the server level, not the BlackBerry.
There is one spam filter I know of for the BB device itself, the Antair Spam Filter for the BlackBerry.
But again, you need to attack it on your mail server...

  • Missing Email Set Up Option

Having bought Curve 8310 (v4.5.0.55) on eBay & put a Blackberry enabled Vodafone UK sim in, I've tried to set my personal  email up on BlackBerry Internet Service, following a Wipe Clean operation.
However when using the Set Up Wizard, I do not get the 'I want to create or add an email address'  option, only 'I want to use a work email account with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server' or 'I want to skip email set up'
Can the handset be reset in anyway to give me my desired option or have I been sold a pup, tied into the previous owner's company network?
    Thank you for any help

You say your SIM is BlackBerry-enabled? Make sure the PIN of the device has been registered with your carrier on the BIS BlackBerry Internet Service account.

  • 8900: Email set-up option disappeared

Just started moving in to my new 8900 - installed software from my CD onto desktop PC but didn't do very much to the phone other than just browse around.  I then updated the software on my PC to 5.0.1.18 and it changed a load of stuff on my 8900.
I think as a result of that upgrade process I seem to have lost the ability to set up email addresses - when I go into Email Setup I only have one option:
"I want to use a work email account with a Blackberry Enterprise Server"
...but I don't, I want to set up other private email addresses (and my work email that doesn't use BES) and I now can't see where or how to do that.
    Help!!!
    Thanks

  • Problems with email set-up option 2 selected when option one needed ie add an email personal

    Hello All,
My new 8520 arrived yesterday, I ask my daughter to set it up for me as she has one. Everything was going ok until I think she pressed the option for email as if I had a work email address which i dont i think option one should have been pressed ie add new email/personal home user email. I cannot seem to get back to that option all I get is has your blackberry admin given user name/number etc.
Also on the setup box the only icons I have are set-up wizard set up wi-fi and set up bluetooth. Can anyone help me out please, do I need to reset-phone to factory settings or something??
    Thanks

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
    Please do this:
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
After the boot-up, you should be able to again freshly launch the email setup wizard. If you are only presented with Enterprise, then you need to contact your carrier to ensure that you have the proper data account on your BB to enable the services you desire:

  • Email Set-up and Options

I can't configure/manage my personal email accounts through the device. When I click on the e-mail accounts icon, I get to the Internet Mail account and then it pops me back to the Setup screen.  I have a Blackberry 9300 with 6.0 OS.  I've tried pulling the battery and tried to resend the service books but the online instructions (below) for Service books don't work  because I can't get past the Internet Mail screen.
For BlackBerry smartphones running on BlackBerry® 6 or BlackBerry® 7, please perform the following steps:
    1. On the BlackBerry smartphone Home screen, navigate and click on the Setup icon.
    2. In the Setup homescreen, navigate and click on the Email Accounts icon.
    3. In the Email Accounts selection screen, select Internet Mail Account.
    4. If prompted, type the username and password, and then click Log In .
    5. On the main screen, click Menu button and select Service Books, then click on Send Service Books to send Service Books to BlackBerry smartphone.

Please try this FIRST, using your BlackBerry browser...
    1)
    • Go to mobile.blackberry.com
    • Scroll down to Communication and then to Email.
    • Choose the appropriate email set up options.
If that works and completes your email setup/editing, good.
If not, follow these additional instrucitons:
    2) Register HRT: (OS5) Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > Scoll to any line entry and > press the Menu key > and then click Register Now. If you have an OS 6 or OS 7 device, Look at Options > Device > Advanced > Host Routing Table, etc.
    3) Resend Service Books: KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    4) Then, with the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most glitches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.
    5) Now, return to the 1) mobile.blackberry.com email setup as mentioned above and follow that.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you!

  • Torch 9800 ''email set up icon not responding'' ... unable to edit or set up email accounts.

Torch 9800, Network provider, O2 UK.
Although my BlackBerry service with O2 is connected and working as normal, I am totally without email on my Torch 9800. I have owned the Torch 9800 since March. All has been well until last week when I changed the password on one of the 3 email accounts I had set up on my device.  This password change left one of the accounts unable to send or receive mail, and is also what lead me to discover that I could not enter email set up on my device or via my network providers website ( www.o2email.co.uk ) .
I have spent hours on the phone with O2 discussing this issue. The usual checks and procedures have been carried out, battery pulls, checking settings etc and the service books have been deleted and resent several times. These actions have not resolved the problem but instead led to the loss from my device of the other 2 email accounts which were working correctly but have now disappeared into thin air. Having tried all possible solutions with O2 I now come here looking for an answer.
When I visit my Network Providers BlackBerry mail service trying to create an account using my pin etc,  I am without fail getting a pop up box containing  the error message ''Your account is not accessible via HTML browser. Please use your devive to access BlackBerry Internet Service''  !?  The result is the same whether I log in from my device over 3G or Wireless, or from a PC (have tried several browsers) .
On my device, when I click on the Email Accounts icon from the setup menu nothing happens, no response at all. I have tried many times and there is just no way to set up or edit mail accounts. I am without mail on my device and growing increasingly short of patience.
I am now hoping somebody here can offer me some advice on how to resolve this issue. What use is a BlackBerry without email capabilities ? I see from researching email set up problems on the Torch 9800 that I am not alone here so if somebody at BlackBerry is listening ? If this is a Torch 9800 issue then I am sure you will be doing all you can to resolve this but in the meantime PLEASE help by offering a solution to the issues I have mentioned.
    Thanks

    Welcome to the forums, bs342!
Well, since you searched the forums, you are undoubtedly aware that the problem you report is unfortunately a common one these days.  The good news is that RIM is definitely aware of and working on the problem.
First, let's try something on your computer.  What browser are you using?  Your problem there might just be as simple as clearing cache in your browser, then closing and reopening the browser to try the website again.
If that doesn't work, try this:
From your device's browser, go to mobile.blackberry.com. Select your country of choice, then go to Communicate>Email. Scroll down to Other Personal Email and click on Integrate Now, then Launch Email Setup. You should be able to integrate your e-mail accounts that way until RIM has fixed this issue.
Please let us know how it goes!

  • Email Set Up Help

On my set up folder, I only have three icons; setup wizard, set up wi-fi and set up bluetooth. Email set up application is lost. And when I go to Setup wizard - Email setup, the only option its giving me is to use a work email account with a blackberry enterprise server.
I was able to use it before to set up my yahoo email account. But when I deleted my yahoo email address, the set up was lost too.
    I need my email back.

If an updated version of the BlackBerry Device Software is available for you to download, on the home screen of the BlackBerry Desktop Software, the new version number is listed and the Update button appears. You can also collect the existing device OS version from your carrier download site.
It might take up to an hour to update your smartphone software. During that time, you cannot disconnect your BlackBerry smartphone from your computer.
Connect your smartphone to your computer.
On the home screen of the BlackBerry Desktop Software, click Update.
To download an update, click Get update.
To view other available versions of the BlackBerry Device Software, click View other versions. If applicable, click another version. Click Install.
    Do any of the following:
To keep a backup file of your smartphone data and settings, select the Back up your device data check box. This backup file is restored to your smartphone after the update is complete. If you don't back up your data, your smartphone data, settings, and email messages are deleted from your smartphone after the update is installed.
To encrypt your backup data, click Encrypt backup file.
If you want to receive an email when an updated version of BlackBerry Device Software is available, select the Email me when new versions are available check box.
    Click Install update.
When you receive a confirmation message that the update is complete, you can disconnect your smartphone.

  • Emails setting Problems BB Curve 8310

    Hi,
I deleted all of my BB to start again fresh. But now I realize that I don't have the Email Setting Aplication so I am no longer able to configure my Email Accounts. How Can I get this application Back?
    Thanks!!!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB):
    1) Register HRT
Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > (it does not matter which line is current) > Register Now
    2) Resend Service Books
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should contact your carrier for formal support.

hi, i wrote wrong my email setting up my icloud account.. my imail is [email protected], and i wrote [email protected], later the icloud menu dont let me do anything.. trying to solve this i restore my iphone to ios 8.3 .. now itunes ask me for a password for this wrong email.. help me pls! this email "[email protected] doesnt exist and cant access cause gma.com is not a real email..

You don't really have to have email, just the password for Apple account to activate. If you don't know the password - you have to reset it and use security questions option, since you can't send email to yourself. And if you can't answer your security questions, then contacting apple may help.

  • TS3276 I have my email set up, I can send, but I cannot receive mail.  What could be wrong ?

I have my email set up, I can send, but I cannot receive mail.  What could be wrong ?

SMTP is the protocol used to send mail, where IMAP and POP are the protocols used to receive mail.  ISPs can have different servers for these protocols.
In this case, the specified receiving (IMAP or POP) server, or the receiving user and password credentials, are likely incorrect.
What does the Connection Doctor diagnostic tool report?
Mail.app's Window menu > Connection Doctor
To check or change the settings, select Mail.app's Mail menu > Preferences... > Accounts and select the account you need to edit in the left column.
The receiving information will be displayed for the selected Account, with either POP or IMAP shown.  Confirm with the ISP that your POP or IMAP mail settings are correct per the ISP's recommendations, as well.   And in general, IMAP is preferable to POP, if you have the option of using either of those with your ISP.

I have just bought my daughter a used Curve 9300 and am having trouble setting up email account.  In the set up menu the only option for email takes me straight to the Enterprise option - I think I need personal email set up but I do not know where to find it.
Also have a music download issue.  I have synced it to our itunes and although I spent ages specify which tracks to add (using BB desktop software) and it seems to have added the whole libary!  I then tried to remove it all with no success.  Now seem to have double copies of everything!  How do I remove all the music and start again and get it right.

To use the proprietary RIM Push email capability, you must have an adequate data plan from your carrier. The carriers host BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) for their BB users. Typically, BIS is not available via generic data plans. Many carriers call what is necessary The Blackberry Data Plan. Whatever they call it, it is the carrier who delivers BIS to their BB users -- contact them for assistance. Once you have a BIS-capable data plan on your BB (at whatever fees your carrier will charge, btw), you will should have Personal Email added to the email setup wizard.

Activate Mass Storage Mode and manage the music that way. From your PC, you will  be able to treat the BB as a USB drive, with all of the capabilities of file management via PC. You can find out how to activate Mass Storage Mode in your device user guide:

This actually concerns me the most. See this:
KB05099 Steps to take before selling or after buying a previously owned BlackBerry smartphone
If the seller did not properly complete all of their steps, then you have little hope of succeeding at anything with this BB. Further, if the device is not unlocked, then it can only be used on it's original carrier. Further still, if the device model is not specifically supported by the mobile network provider you wish to use, then you will have even further challenges getting it to work, with no guarantee of any success whatsoever.
BB's and i-devices are very very different.
Good luck and let us know!
