Employment discount disappointment

I work for the State of NC and the discount went down and it did not apply to the data plan.  Only the access plan.  Very disappointing!

The state of NC must not have as many phones on the account as they used to.

  • Employment discount program

I was notified in October that I needed to update my information for my employment. I sent everything requested in to them but after 3 months the discount was still not applied. I contacted Verizon in January and was told that I did what I was supposed to and the error was on their end. I was told to resend my verification information, so I did. I was also refunded the discount from October to January. I received my bill yesterday and the discount is again missing. I contacted Verizon this morning and was told they would send my info back over for review and to please hold while they got ahold of someone about the discount on my new bill. I was on hold for over 20 minutes! I hung up and called again. I know by this time I am very frustrated with this whole process but when I talked to the manager on the floor, he was not very helpful at all. Just said that I would have to wait 7-10 business days and see if it went through again. I mean, I did everything I was told to do twice and you mean to tell me there isn't anything that can be done and nobody can tell me why. Seriously considering transferring my phone to another service because this is just not right. I know Verizon doesn't need my money every month but to treat me like it is my fault for the past 6 months is wrong.

    Jonathan,
I sent everything that was required of me last October when I got the notice that verification was required. I also resent what was asked of me in January when I inquired about the discount not being applied to my account.
This information was received by the Employment Discount department. There is record of everything I sent being received there at Verizon. Nobody can tell me why this is not being applied to  my account.
The floor manager was not helpful in answering any of my questions yesterday. He was actually rude to me at some points ignoring the frustration I had with the whole process at the time.
The error in the process is at the Verizon level. I don’t know which department is responsible for this program but someone messed up not once but twice on my account and I was made to feel like
I was in the wrong. I am serious about switching carriers after the way I was treated. I still do NOT have the discount because nobody will do anything to expedite the process or give me information to resolve this problem.

  • Don't believe the employment discount

I just renewed a contract with Verizon and was informed by 'Ahley' via online chat  my employment discount would be 25% and would have to be activated after I received my device.  I have it in writing!  I chose Verizon over AT&T based on this information but when I went to employment verification and entered the information, I was informed it was only 15%!?!?  When I called customer service, I was told "oops, that information was wrong.  Our max discount is only 22% and yours should only be 15%."  What a joke- telling customers one thing to get them to sign up and THEN changing the information is a deplorable business practice.  BEWARE

If you have an work email address that indicates your job with an qualifying organization (for instance, a school district or public agency) the discount is applied immediately when you submit and confirm your email address via http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/support/employee-discount-email  If the specific email address is not recognized as being eligible for a discount, then you  need to submit documentation and it does take one or two billing cycles to be applied.  My son's discount was evident on his second bill; he does not have a work email and had to submit a current pay stub, and the discount was applied from his second bill onward.

  • Employment discount.. I think not!

Where can I find the written policy where it says I cannot have my employment discount if I have a discount from a high plan in more everything? I'm sick of the misinformation from customer care reps 5 said I could use both discounts 2 said I couldn't . Weeks later and hours on the phone I'm being told out of contract I can't use the discount.... Where's the policy on my end that I can read that, the employment verification department said the denied my discount but cannot send me the policy where I'm in violation. This is the hardest time I've Had with a cell phone company.

lewisr13 is correct, the Edge discount of $10/$25 is available even with employer discounts. The month-to-month discount of equivalent value is also available even with employer discounts.
I know exactly what policies pertain to my situation.
If you are attempting to add an Edge discount and are not currently on an Edge plan, you will not be able to do so.
If you want to add a month-to-month discount to a smartphone line access fee to an eligible line, you can do so simply by logging into your MyVerizon, navigating to "Change Features" and selecting that feature to add. Of course, Verizon can change its policies at any time and you could lose your month-to-month discount at any time. Additionally, once you get the discount, it does not necessarily go on for ever. Your eligibility for the discount can change. If you were to purchase a subsidized phone, your discount would fall off immediately.
The month-to-month discount is not advertised, nor will many Verizon reps either acknowledge or are aware of it.

  • Eligible Employment Discount

I just recently retired from the Texas Department of Transportation and am now a member of the Employee Retirement System of Texas.  Can I still get the discount that i was receiving as an employee of Texas Department of Transportation?

Depends on the contract that TX Dept of Transportation has with Verizon; what I'm seeing on this forum is that most contracts do not extend to retirees, unfortunately.  You'll be able to check when Verizon asks you to confirm your employment (e-mails/texts are sent out periodically).

  • Employment discount pending for SEVEN WEEKS !

I sent in two employment paystubs since August 12 and still am waiting for a yes or no answer. I emailed the "helpline" twice and was promised a reply within three business days over a week ago.    Verizon must be part of the government shutdown and have help as brilliant as our people in DC.
    UNACCEPTABLE "customer service"  !

yes - was talking w/ cs today about another issue and asked about this employer discount issue. She transferred me to a recorded message telling me to go online for more information to submit my paystub.   It's just a joke with verizon anymore.
The online chat people are COMPLETELY USELESS -- all they do is tell me to call the same number you referred me to and emails are 100% ignored. "you will receive a reply in 3 -5 days". ..and 2 weeks later --NOTHING.
and the verizon employees in the stores are only there for the sale -- if they don't ring up a sale --they don't care about you at all !
This all started when I walked in to a verizon store in neligh, nebraska to ask how I could apply for the employer discount -- reply was "" I can't help you with that"   .  what she should of said was the truth " I won't be making a dime from helping you with 2 minutes of my time so get out of my store "

  • Employment discount

I sent in copies of my W-2 over a week ago and you have cancelled my 15% discount. I work for the City of Cleveland, Ohio on the Fire Department. Is there still a discount applicable here?

  • Promotional Bundle Discount - Disappointing Customer Service for the first time ever

I'm a long time Comcast customer currently on a triple bundle package.   My promo discount ended and typically I can call; talk to a knowledgeable rep; and find a comparable bundle to keep my rate under $200 a month (tv, internet, phone that I use for business calls).   Last week I got a "sassy" rep who was anything but helpful;  reading off scripted cards; insisting that she was doing a good job and had satisfactorily helped me.  I kept telling her no...I wasn't happy hearing there was NO promo available to me via the phone but I should try going to the website...well, I've spent another hour online trying to find alternatives with no luck.    After reading some forum posts, I'm convinced there is NO site on comcast that offers any promo bundles for existing cusotmers that want to lower their bills.  I do not need all the channels that my current plan has, but apparently if I change some things, comcast will get me for additional equipment costs so I'm sort of screwed unless we just drop everything and switch things up....I do hope someone from Comcast reaches out to help before you lose me as a customer......

I must have talked to the same rude customer service girl as you did. I was also trying to get a reduction in my bill and her response was to give back the modem that I rent and that would take $10.00 off my bill. For the last month I have had nothing but poor wifi service, having to call almost every day and have my modem reset. Well I hooked up this new modem that also includes the router on Saturday, what a nightmare that was. For more than 24 hours now my wifi has been intermittent at best. I called earlier and spent a good hour on the phone being transferred multiple times and each time having to repeat the same stuff over and over again! I have been with Comcast for more than 15 years and I think it's time for a change, tomorrow I am calling AT&T !!!

  • Discount with Loyalty Program

I was going to leave Verizon after they did not stand by a HTC phone I purchased from them. I kept telling them it did not work.  Repeated trips to the local store and tech support calls, even purchasing an new battery.  Still did not work.  At the end of the contract, I contacted them to ask how to transfer my number to another carrier.  I was told, and then told about a "Loyalty" program they had.  Unlimited talk and text, 2 gig data.  I asked three different Verizon employees if my employment discount still remained and was told it would. So the $60 dollar fee was reduced by 20 per cent.  Good deal I thought.  Now three months later, no discount is allowed, if I quit the contact there is a $330 termination fee and I absorb the $200 I paid for the phone.  This all started in early July.  Feeling very abused as a "Loyalty"  customer.  Have called customer service and basically been told that I have lied about the employees spiel.  I even have their names and times that we spoke.  Any ideas?

We want you to have the best plans to meet your needs Bitter19551! Corporate discounts are a great way to save on your monthly costs! You should still be able to qualify if you are still with the same employer. If you had a promotional rate plan discount, it likely ended when the agreement expired.

Today I was lucky enough to purchase an open box 15" Macbook Pro Retina from Best Buys for $1200 (With some store manager employ discounts ) and I wanted to know which model I have. Switched to Verizon and bought my phone and plan in Feb,  submitted all paperwork to receive a discount because company I work for uses Verizon.  Was told they lost the paperwork in Jun and I could verify my employment by using my employee e-mail.  Did this and here it is towards the end of Sep and I still don't have my discount!!  Very frustrated and think maybe I should have stayed with AT&T.

I'm so sorry about this, Vboozer! You should definitely have your discount! When you submitted the email, did you get any kind of a confirmation? Did you get an email at your work email address from Verizon Wireless? You can check and register for your discount here: www.vzw.com/discounts

  • Law Enforcement Discount rather disappointing

My husband recently became a Law Enforcement Officer, and we heard that Verizon offered great discounts to LEO's, including 23% off plans, no ETF's, upgrade eligibility every 10 months, and even unlimited Data (which is now unavailable to most everyone else).  So we began doing research, and were disappointed to find that those discounts are only available through the Fraternal Order of Police Corporate Discount (http://azfop.com/fop-member-verizon-discount/), which has no contract with the department my husband works for.  The only other discount available is 15% off our plan (compare that to Gap employees who receive 25%, and Coca Cola employees who receive 25-28%).
Now, I don't mean to be "that customer" who complains and complains until they get what they want, but I find it disturbing that Verizon seems to appreciate our public safety workers so little (No discount is offered for ANY military, at least not where I could find it).
All across the country Law Enforcement Officer pay is either decreasing, or going stagnant due to pay-freezes, while the cost of living is increasing.  I for one would like to see Verizon show its support for those who help protect our society on a daily bases, and do this small favor for us (Verizon would have nothing to lose and tons to gain).  Even if you started offering 50% off your plans, unltd data, and free smart phones, I suspect you'd still be making money off us, just not as much as you COULD.
Oh, and while you're at it, you should start extending your discounts to LEO Retirees and Military Retirees.  While searching for an existing post on these forums I came across several posts by LEO's who lost their 15% discounts once they retired.  That's just sad...
So what do you say Verizon?  Will you show more support for our LEO's and military and offer some better discounts (not connected to a union)?  Or will you just say "f*** the police" like so many others nowadays...
For everyone's reference, these are some discounts offered by Verizon's competitors:
    Sprint
    Law Enforcement
    25%
    ARMY/USAA/Military/Airforce
    5%-12%
    AT&T
    Gov. Military and First Aid
    15%-19%
    Army & National Guard
    19%

Each employee discount is unique to each company or organization. The rate and peaks depend on the amount of business that company or organization has with Verizon Wireless and what the two companies have negotiated into the agreement. For example, very few companies have extended the employee discount to their retired employees.

  • Bill discount because of place of employment

I am currently receiving a discount on my bill because of my employment at BELCAN
would I receive a greater discount if I work for Caterpillar Inc.

Discounts certainly come in handy leroywade! It's great to take advantage of any, anytime you can. We aren't able to give you the exact discount amounts, as they can vary depending on the contract we have with the companies. However, as Ann154 mentioned, you can get this information from HR. Or you can check and even register online via the following link: http://bit.ly/SAe4MP

I can not begin to agree with you enough!  This is absolutely rude of Verizon.  I have been a loyal customer for years.  We have multiple lines, and pay a high enough bill as it is.  Our data always seems to go higher.  I already lost the unlimited data plan by switching to a plan Verizon suggested only to find out that my bill was not going to be much more expensive.  Now they want to possibly take our discount away??  What is going on Verizon??
This is taking time out of my busy schedule to provide something that I believe is very private.  My discount amount was also something that I considered when I choose Verizon as my cell company.  I would like to see Verizon's list of company's that are eligible.  (Why isn't that list provided to the consumer?)
I have given two email addresses with my company name included in the address, and Verizon won't accept the email addresses.  Now they want a copy of a paystub that I feel is very private information.
If they want to demand that we give the info, and we are not eligible for some reason, then we should be able to be released fully from our contracts.  If my discount is not in place, then the plan just went over my budget and I want out.  I want out without any of the early cancellation fees.  The service is not what I signed up for.  I find it to be rude, and I question how legal it is for a company to just remove a discount amount we were given when we signed our contracts??
I find this to be very disheartening that Verizon is harassing Loyal customers.  If they are that hungry to make an extra few dollars, then let them risk actually loosing their customers all together.  If Verizon wants to request this at the time of signing a contract for a new customer so be it, but to harass loyal customers that have been here for years is unbelievable!
I am beyond upset about this.

  • Why doesn't Verizon allow retirees from state employment to continue to receive discounts?

I worked for the state of Texas for 25 years.  I am now disabled but being paid by the State of Texas' Employee Retirement System as a continuing "disabled employee".  Verizon (customer service) doesn't recognize this as a valid form of state employment; therefore I am losing my discount.  WHY? It seems contradictory that a continuing employee - or retiree from employment should continue to receive benefits.  If not through state employment; why not as a disabled person?  I just think Verizon is not being fair with a discount they should be providing.

People need to understand whether your employer offers a discount and how much that discount is is up to your employer not Verizon. Verizon has nothing to do with whether Texas wants to give retirees discounts.  Considering what party runs your state is should not be shocking that neither retirees or disabled people get anything. 1/4 of your state is uninsured that's all you need to know about how your state is run.
