Enabling OC4J to access networked drives

Does anyone know how to enable the application server to access files on a mapped drive?
If I use standalone it can see the network drives but the application server cannot.
Anthony

I am having the same issue. I have a connected drive that is in the sharing prefs that people cannot see, but another drive that is connected that ISN'T in the sharing preferences CAN be seen.
There certainly seems to be some sort of issue here...
I'll let you know if I find any further information. Thank you... should be so simple...but.

  • Accessing network drives through 9iAS

    Hi,
    I posted this in "Application Server General" but havn't had a response so thought I'd try here. Has anyone heard of or experienced the following problem ?
    Im trying to access a file on a novell network drive using the following JSP code.
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=windows-1252"%>
    <%@ page import="java.sql.*" %>
    <%@ page import="javax.naming.*" %>
    <%@ page import="javax.sql.*" %>
    <%@ page import="java.io.*" %>
    <%
    FileReader fr = new FileReader("p:project/systemdocs/test.htm");
    BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(fr);
    %>
    My problem is whenever I try to access a network drive I get the following error.
    java.io.FileNotFoundException
    This only happens when running through 9iAS and only when trying to access a network drive. If I run my JSP through the OC4J Server that comes with J-Developer I have no problem accessing the files on the network drive with the above JSP.
    Does anyone know why 9iAS might be having problems with the network drives??
    Thanks

    One thing I forgot to mention is that the PC has XP Home Edition for the OS. Hasn't anyone done this sort of thing yet???
    Thanks.

  • How can I change permissions to access network drive

    I change Cf user permission for I access and upload my network drive documents(for using a cffile action="upload"). I need to add permission on the network.How change my Cf access my authority.http://help.adobe.com/en_US/ColdFusion/9.0/Installing/WSf01dbd23413dda0e-2c56ae6b11fae6200 fe-8000.html
    I couldn't not to it.This isn't enough information.Could you be helpfull?

    The user associated with the service credentials needs to have permission to use the drive in question. You will also have to access the drive using its UNC - \\serverName\serverShareName\directory\...
    By default, the CF service uses a local system account as its login credentials. You'll need to change this to an actual user account.

  • Finder crashes when accessing network drive

    We have four macs on our network. When trying to access a volume on our network drive Finder crashes. The drive is accessible via FTP as well as From Windows Machines. Its only on Finder that we are having the problem. Everything use to work.
    Im on an iMac, my Finder totally spazes out. Blinking off an on. On another system it just crashes. On the other two systems it just won't access the drive & Finder closes.Just started today.
    If anyone know what this is please help!

    Hi Barry,
    Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately I did buy diskwarrior on my way home, ran it a few times. No success. It did identify problems it couldn't fix with a lot of the files that were in my suspect folder (a font folder) but since I can't access the files directly on my hard drive I can't get rid of them.
    I did follow your suggestion, but all that it did that I can see was scatter my folders on the desktop.
    Yet, while typing this, I just found a creative way to solve the problem!!! I was able to access the font folder in Bridge even though I couldn't access it otherwise. I deleted it in bridge and now things are working as normal!!! Thank God for Bridge. Amazing. Especially since that font folder has been on this machine for months, and the previous machine for years without ever causing a problem...

    Hi Tero,
    I think the issue at hand is that XP Home cannot reach the shared resources on the XP Pro "server".  See:
    http://www.compatdb.org/forums/topic/38973-xp-pro-wont-share-my-documents-with-xp-home/
    The solution may lie in getting the XP Home PC to have the Security Tab.
    Hope this points you in the right direction.

  • Power outage, and now can't access networked drive

    Hi,
    Hope someone can help with this. Recently, we had a power cut. When everything came back on, the PCs on out network, and the macs with OSX had no problem loggin into our Buffalo TeraStation, accessing the share folder, and seeing the files. However, two macs still on OS9 can connect as quests, can see the share folder, but it shows up empty (zero items)!
    Any help would be most gratefully received.
    Cheers,
    Kev.

    Hi,
    Thanks again for all your help, but unfortunately, still no joy. Oddly, both Macs can see and connect to the buffalo drive; and can see files and folders on there, except for the one folder that contains our backups. Again oddly, I created another folder on the drive (called it backup two) and the macs can see it and, when I transer some of the files from the original backup folder into the new one, they become visible to the two OS9 macs! Of course, I could just copy all the files frmo the old backup to the new one, and all would be well, but, (a) it would take ages, (b) some of the files won't copy over for some reason (c) we wouldn't know how to fix the problem should it recur.
    Again, any help would be gratefully received.
    Cheers,
    Kev.

  • Accessing network drive (kind:sharepoint) as user with no admin priviliges

    I have a (linux) server which stores - and backs - up quite a bit of data for several users on my mac (Leopard).
    I have set up AppleTalk on the server and password protected access. This works excellent. But for some reason I have to enable admin rights for all users to my computer - otherwise it is not possible to access the server data. I can see all the shared folders - but it simply does not allow me to access the data. It seems that my mac does not allow me to "mount" the drive...
    On the log I get.
    "NetworkNode:handleMountCallBack returned -6602"
    It is a bit uncomfortable to have all users of my mac as "admin". Do you know how to fix this problem?
    With kind regards,
    Björn

    Hiya,
    Your absolutely right in the last part. Recreating the user, gives them a new SID and you have the add that SID to SharePoint.
    I would use a Powershell script to find all the places the user has permissions and replace with the new user SID.

  • Dreaweaver problem accessing network drive

    We have a problem with Dreaweaver freezing intemittently when
    accessing a network /mapped drive.
    Any suggestions?

    not sure...
    my only thought was that the service runs under a user without permissions to that resource.
    interesting...
    do you have to "log into" the shared drive when you want to run the std. application or is the shared system just based on users allowed to access it?

  • How can I enable spotlight on an Network drive?

    I use OSX 10.6 and tried a bunch of mdutil options, but non worked for me.
    mdutil -i on /Volumes/volName/
    /Volumes/volName:
       Indexing enabled.
    mdutil -p /Volumes/volName/
    /Volumes/volName:
        Error: datastore publishing not implemented.
    There isnt a .VT100 folder or anything like that. I also tried do move the Volume to the private spotlight zone, manually erase the index an rebuild.
    If I try:
    mdimport -d 1 /Volumes/volName/
    It seems to work. But after a complete run I cant find anything with spotlight (via Finder) or Terminal (mdfind).
    Its an smb volume. There is no way for server side indexing it.
    I really need spotlight cause there are tons of pictures with exif data on the volume.
    Can anynone help?

    If this reference is to be believed it says shared network volumes are not indexed.

  • How to access network drive in mac app ?

    Hi All,
    How to get the access to the file system of a networkdrive in mac app ? Let the shared path is
    \\192.168.2.57\JPEG .
    What are the apis use to connect to a networkdrive ?
    I am using Lion OS and the server is a Windows Server running with smb services.
    Please guide me.

    Thanks for your quick response.
    I am using NSTask to execute the script
    _localMountPath = @"/Users/pacs/Documents/Temp";
       NSTask* task = [NSTask new];
        [task setLaunchPath:@"/sbin/mount_smbfs"];
    str = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"//Demo;Administrator:Password@[email protected]/0BF045A8"];
    [task setArguments:[NSArray arrayWithObjects:str,_localMountPath, nil]];
        NSPipe *outputPipe = [NSPipe pipe];
        [task setStandardError:outputPipe];
        [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(mountCompleted:) name:NSFileHandleReadToEndOfFileCompletionNotification object:[outputPipe fileHandleForReading]];
        [[outputPipe fileHandleForReading] readToEndOfFileInBackgroundAndNotify];
    [task launch];
    The problem here is password is having @ symbol inbetween .
    The format is @"//Domain;User:Password@servershaedpath"
    So the compiler is taking the path as "@[email protected]/0BF045A8" and not able to connect.
    How to solve the problem of Passwordhaving "@" symbol inbetween.
    Thanks

  • Deserializing obj on network drive take a long time -- any ideas to improve

    Good morning!
    Deserializing objects from a network drive is taking way too long, much slower than deserializing the same object files stored on the local hard drive of the development PC. How I can reduce the time??
    The size of the serialized objects is small (72K and 17K).
    The PC access network drives quickly enough (word processing, text editing, etc). The PC JVM is 1.5.0_09 and the OS is Windows XP.
    Here is the background.
    I had the idea to create objects and serialized them on my server (an AS400) and let client applications deserialize them.
    Now that I have it running I find that deserializing the objects off the server take way too long! Does anyone have any ideas how to improve this.
    If I copy the serialized objects off the server onto the local hard drive of the development PC and access them from the local hard drive the speed is fine.
    To my mind that eliminates the potential for incompatibility between the JVM which serialized the objects and the JVM which descerialized the object. That is, the deserialize fast on the local drive, slow over the network.
    Used both UNC and mapped drive to access the server and I can't see any performance difference. That is
    filename = "//server/java/ftpaudit/SerializedObject.ser"
    and
    filename = "J:/ftpaudit/SerializedObject.ser"
    where J: is mapped to //server/java
    This is the code which deserialize the objects.
    try {
         File file = new File(filename);
         FileInputStream f = new FileInputStream(file);
         ObjectInputStream ois = new ObjectInputStream(f);
         Object returnObj = ois.readObject();
         ois.close();
         f.close();
         return returnObj;
    } catch (InvalidClassException ice) {
         ....Thank you for your time and help.
    BillB

    Could the file be locked on the server?I don't believe it is. It eventually (minutes loads). The delay is consistent. I haven't put the logging to see what part of the deserialize method is chewing up the time yet.
    Putting in code to copy the file from the server to the local hard drive then deserializing performs much, much faster (milliseconds, almost as fast as deserializing directly from the local drive).
    I modified this from another post to this forum
    try {
            FileChannel srcChannel = new FileInputStream(file).getChannel();
            FileChannel dstChannel = new FileOutputStream(dir+file).getChannel();
            dstChannel.transferFrom(srcChannel, 0, srcChannel.size());
            srcChannel.close();
            dstChannel.close();
        } catch (IOException e) {
            e.printStackTrace();
        }I was wondering if there was a more efficient way to deserialize an object than the one in my original post. Or if there were hidden aspects to consider such as buffer size.
    Here's an alternative approach: since the server side
    is written in Java (I'm assuming, since you say that
    it writes a file containing serialized data), why not
    create an RMI interface for retrieving the
    information? The current approach, of opening a file
    over the network, is very fragile -- what happens in
    the network mount point or share name changes?Thank you. Good suggestion.

  • Using network drive in Touchsmart software

    I am totally new to windows7/mce and touchsmart and trying to figure out whether to use Windows Media Center or Touchsmart sw or other to play music, video, photos etc.
    However, it seems that the Touchsmart sw cannot use files from my home server, where I have all my music and photos.
    Can this be true??? I mean, this makes the entire sw suite completely useless?

    Hi David,
    Touchsmart 2.0 Music Software is unable to access network drives unless you create WMP music Playlists. If you have a couple of thousand Music files then this would become very tedious quickly...
    However Touchsmart 3.0 Music is able to access network shared drives, for example:
    HP ENVY 17-j005tx Notebook, HP ENVY Recline 27-k001a, HP ProLiant MicroServer Gen8 G2020T, HP MediaSmart EX495 Server, HP MediaVault 2020, HP ENVY 120 AiO Printer

  • Windows explorer keeps computing items after accessing a mapped network drive

    Our organization has decided to upgrade to windows 7 but we are running into a problem with windows explorer green progress bar hanging after accessing a mapped network drive. When you try to go back to computer or access the control panel after going
    3 or more folders deep into the mapped drive, windows explorer just keeps searching.
    When you expand the arrow in the address bar it states that it is computing items and never stops.
    The only way around this is to right click on libraries and select reset back to defaults and everything is back to normal.
    We are deploying this image of windows 7 to over a 1000 computers and we cannot have this problem lingering, does anyone have a solution to resolve this issue. This does not happen in Windows XP.
    We have tried to turn off windows search and remote differential compression and this does work but the problem is that you lose all search capabilities in windows. So windows search needs to be enabled. We also tried to adjust the MTU, change GP settings,
    and nothing seems to work except to turn windows search off or reset libraries back to default.
    We also did some research online and there are so many people experiencing the same problem, with no resolution expect they have to go back to Windows XP. That is not an option for us.
    Please help us we would really greatly appreciate it.

    Hi,
    The issue could be related to searching and indexing feature in Windows 7. I suggest rebuilding the indexing files.
    Click Start -> Type
    indexing options in the search box -> Advanced -> Index Settings tab-> Rebuild buttion.
    For more information, you can refer to:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Change-advanced-indexing-options
    If the issue persists, you can perform the following troubleshooting steps.
    1. Go to update your network adapter drivers and BIOS from manufacture's site manually.
    2. If any router is involved, please update the firmware.
    3. Perform a System File Checker.

  • HT5633 Do you have to have i-Tunes running to use Apple TV?  Coul dyou access your media on a network drive?

    I wonder if there is a way to access your media collection (music, TV, movies, etc,) directly from a network drive rather than via i-Tunes?  Thanks!  Jerry Michels

    OK, thanks.  I am using home sharing.  I wonder about using Airplay.  I have a 3TB Seagate network drive.  Would there be a way to enable it?
    One more unrelated question perhaps you or someone else could answer.  I ahve a current problem where Apple TV keeps asking for my Apple ID and Password.  It accepts the ID, but will not accept the Password even though i-Tunes, my i-Phones, and an i-Pad do.  Very frustrating!!!
    Thanks again.
