Dreaweaver problem accessing network drive

We have a problem with Dreaweaver freezing intemittently when
accessing a network /mapped drive.
Any suggestions?

not sure...
my only thought was that the service runs under a user without permissions to that resource.
interesting...
do you have to "log into" the shared drive when you want to run the std. application or is the shared system just based on users allowed to access it?

  • Problem mounting network drive after upgrading router firmware

    Hi guys,
It's been a while since I last posted a question of my own here, but I'm at my wits end. As I may have mentioned, I live in France, and my ISP is Free (no, not free, Free...). I've got what they call a "box" here, i.e. a sort of super-modem that will let you connect to the Internet via xDSL (and soon VDSL2), receive hundreds of TV channels, read BluRay discs, store files (videos, music, photos, what have you) on a integrated NAS, place and receive phone calls, whether via a landline (DECT) or, since recently, through a femtocell.
All in all, the package is impressive and works flawlessly. But...
(Of course, there had to be a "but)
... Yesterday, I let my "box" (it's called a Freebox Revolution, or Freebox V6--for Version 6--by the way) upgrade its firmware, reboot as it always does in such circumstances, and  since that,  the NAS won't mount in the Finder the way it used to under the Shared left pane.
Now, every time I reboot my Mac, I have to open a browser windows and type "smb://mafreebox.freebox.fr" in order mount the NAS in the Finder. I've saved the credentials (login, no password) in the keychain, hoping it would help, but it doesn't. I've got a PC running Windows 8.1 Preview at the moment, and created a shortcut to the NAS on the Desktop. Guess what? I double-click on the shortcut, and sure enough, I can access the content of the NAS from Windows, but not from the Mac.
I must add that I haven't changed anything on the Mac since, or before, upgrading the "box" firmware.
    Any ideas?

OK, you must think I'm going bananas, but my issue is gone... For now...
Seriously, what do you guys think about this problem with network drives mounting or not, depending on, I don't know, the weather, maybe?

  • Problem accessing hard drive for more than one user at the same time

    Hello all,
I recently bought a 2nd generation AirPort Extreeme 802.11n to replace a cheapo wireless router. The main reason I wanted to get the AirPort was so I could attach a USB hard drive which holds iTunes music files Originaly I had a G4 MDD and this was a second internal hard drive. Since my wife and son also share my Mac, we stored the iTunes music folder there, so we could all access the files. That worked fine.
Then I got a early 2009 iMac and gave my wife the G4. My son also has a G3 iBook, using the wireless internet conection. At first I had the drive in an external case attached via Firewire. Both my iMac and my wife's G4 are attached to the network using ethernet, not wireless. She was able to access the music files so long as my Mac was on, but the connection was flaky.
So as mentioned, I picked up a used AirPort Extreme from OWC, mainly to attach the hard drive, since it's no longer in my Mac. It took some fiddling, and I was honestly surpsied that the APE was trickier to set up than expected, but now I have the external drive mounting, and we can all access the files from any of the Macs in the house. It works great except for one thing. If I'm logged into my iMac, and then another family member logs in on the same iMac, we don't all have access to the hard drive. It's still mounted, but the you have no permission to view the files on it.
Then if I remount it, I can access the files, but now the other user can't.
So in a nutshell, only one user can access the drive at the same time from the iMac, but we can all access it from different Macs.
Anyone have an idea of why this is happening and how to remidy it?

This is the boilerplate text often used in connection to saving to a network (please NOTE the part where it explains that normally, it does work, but that it is impossible to troubleshoot someone else's network remotely, and that's why it's not supported by Adobe):
If you are opening files over a network or saving them to a network server, please cease and desist immediately in the event you are currently experiencing problems with one or more files. Working across a network is not supported.
    See:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/406/kb406793.html
Copy the CLOSED file from your server to your local hard disk, work on it, save it again to your local hard disk, close it, and copy the closed file back to the server.
Of course, the fact that Adobe does not support working across a network does not necessarily mean it won't work.   It should.
Adobe's position is that there are too many variables in a network environment for them to guarantee that everything will work correctly in every network, especially given the fact that if something does not work properly, it's probably the network's fault, and Adobe has no way of troubleshooting your network.
If you can't work locally, you are on your own, and if something happens, you're on your own. If you must work from a server, make sure your network administrator is a competent professional.
When problems arise, a lot of valuable work can be lost.

  • Home Hub 3 - problems using network drive with OS ...

    Hi ,
I have recently switched back to BT and received the HH3 , all wifi connectivity is good . However , I am having problems connecting to the external hard drive I have plugged into it . We have to macbook pros in the household one running Leopard and mine which unfortunately ( it seems ) is running Lion.
The MBP running leopard can see and connect to the network drive (1tb Seagate Expansion Drive FAT32)perfectly. However I am having problems doing the same via Lion . The HH3 is visible in Finder under shared and the usb_disk folder is visible , however when I click on it to access the external hard drive I am presented with this error :
As I said the MBP running Leopard has no issues and connects perfectly :
I have checked the HH3 which is running the latest firmware and checked to see if there was any firmware update to the Seagate , which the isn't !!
ANY advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Ah! that might be the problem, something residual, I did have a machine dual boot W7 and Ubuntu, now it just runs Unbuntu, but I decided to do a clean install.
I dont think the macs have a problem with HH3, yes I picked that post about dual booting, interesting cos the obvious thing to do would be apply different static ip addresses to each O/S, that way the Hub sees them as static addresses for 2 machines, rather than setting them as dynamic by selecting always use the same ip address.
Anyway there's a recent post on here regarding printers and Lion which got resolved, but again I looked at that from a windows pint of view.
I've googled a couple of links which you have probably already found, https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3213886?start=0&tstart=0 https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3213886?start=0&tstart=0 the second one I know relates to ntfs external drives, but what I'm looking at is the solution using sudo mount and the various switches used.
But you may just have to bite the bullet and do a clean install.

  • Finder crashes when accessing network drive

We have four macs on our network. When trying to access a volume on our network drive Finder crashes. The drive is accessible via FTP as well as From Windows Machines. Its only on Finder that we are having the problem. Everything use to work.
Im on an iMac, my Finder totally spazes out. Blinking off an on. On another system it just crashes. On the other two systems it just won't access the drive & Finder closes.Just started today.
If anyone know what this is please help!

    Hi Barry,
Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately I did buy diskwarrior on my way home, ran it a few times. No success. It did identify problems it couldn't fix with a lot of the files that were in my suspect folder (a font folder) but since I can't access the files directly on my hard drive I can't get rid of them.
I did follow your suggestion, but all that it did that I can see was scatter my folders on the desktop.
Yet, while typing this, I just found a creative way to solve the problem!!! I was able to access the font folder in Bridge even though I couldn't access it otherwise. I deleted it in bridge and now things are working as normal!!! Thank God for Bridge. Amazing. Especially since that font folder has been on this machine for months, and the previous machine for years without ever causing a problem...

  • FCPX 10.1.3 problem with network drive

I just upgraded to FCPX 10.1.3 (and OS X Mavericks 10.9.5). I'm trying to update my old projects/events but FCPX does not recognise the drive as a valid drive.
If I go to File > Update..., then Locate... and try to navigate to the Time Capsule, I get the message 'Choose a SAN location or folder containing Final Cut Projects and Events to update into a new library.' It also states that 'The current selection is not valid. Choose another SAN location or folder.'
I use a Time Capsule drive, with no Time Machine files, no DCIM and no AVCHD files. The 'Final Cut Events' and 'Final Cut Projects' folders are at the root level. The Time Capsule is connected via ethernet cable to a Thunderbolt screen which is connected via thunderbolt cable to the laptop. I can see Time Capsule on the desktop and have no problem access files on it.
    Please help!
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks Tom, I'll try that.
And is there no way that it would work with a network drive?

  • Accessing network drives through 9iAS

    Hi,
I posted this in "Application Server General" but havn't had a response so thought I'd try here. Has anyone heard of or experienced the following problem ?
Im trying to access a file on a novell network drive using the following JSP code.
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=windows-1252"%>
    <%@ page import="java.sql.*" %>
    <%@ page import="javax.naming.*" %>
    <%@ page import="javax.sql.*" %>
    <%@ page import="java.io.*" %>
    <%
    FileReader fr = new FileReader("p:project/systemdocs/test.htm");
    BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(fr);
    %>
My problem is whenever I try to access a network drive I get the following error.
    java.io.FileNotFoundException
This only happens when running through 9iAS and only when trying to access a network drive. If I run my JSP through the OC4J Server that comes with J-Developer I have no problem accessing the files on the network drive with the above JSP.
Does anyone know why 9iAS might be having problems with the network drives??
    Thanks

One thing I forgot to mention is that the PC has XP Home Edition for the OS. Hasn't anyone done this sort of thing yet???
    Thanks.

  • Strange problem with network drive

When you say, you "can't see," do you mean they are not visible at all, or that you can't access certain folders due to permissions issues?

By default, the CF service uses a local system account as its login credentials. You'll need to change this to an actual user account.

  • Problem accessing mapped drive

We are a small business. We have 3 machines that are Win 8 and the rest are Win 7. One of the Win 7 machines acts as our "server." We are having an issue that the Win 7 machines will not be able to access the server files. It will tell us that
the server does not have enough memory to preform the operation, or that an error occurred reconnecting. Now, the funny thing is that when none of our Win 7 machines can access the shared drive, all of our Windows 8 machines have no problem accessing the server.
    Please help!

Do the W7 machines all have the same NIC and NIC drivers? If so, then on one of them I'd try to update the driver and if no update is available to rollback the driver. If neither works, buy a NIC (even a USB one) and try that.

  • Enabling OC4J to access networked drives

Does anyone know how to enable the application server to access files on a mapped drive?
If I use standalone it can see the network drives but the application server cannot.
    Anthony

I am having the same issue. I have a connected drive that is in the sharing prefs that people cannot see, but another drive that is connected that ISN'T in the sharing preferences CAN be seen.
There certainly seems to be some sort of issue here...
I'll let you know if I find any further information. Thank you... should be so simple...but.

  • Problem with network drives since upgrading

Anyone else having issues with mapped network drives in Mavericks?
I've bene using a Windows 2012 server for ages and not had any problems with the various drive mappings, but since upgrading to Mavericks I'm constantly getting an error -51 when copying files, only a reboot fixes it, and then only for a short while. Nothing has changed on the server.
Other non Maverick machines are working fine.

Yes, same problem here and there are more reports in this forum. A patch from Apple is required, I think.

  • SA520 + Quickvpn + cant access network drive

    Hello,
Ou customer have SA520 and VPN with QuickVPN.
One of the computers have W7 Home Prem 64bit and only Windows firewall ON.
Problem is that vpn connection itself connect as it should and i can ping routers ip-address but
when i try to connect to network drive it dont find it and ping doesnt answer.
What is the problem, i have tried to make holes to Windows firewall but it should not need those.

    Hi Tero,
I think the issue at hand is that XP Home cannot reach the shared resources on the XP Pro "server".  See:
    http://www.compatdb.org/forums/topic/38973-xp-pro-wont-share-my-documents-with-xp-home/
The solution may lie in getting the XP Home PC to have the Security Tab.
Hope this points you in the right direction.
    Cheers,

  • Problems when network drive is not available

    Hi everyone,
I have a laptop (MacBook Pro OSX10.9.5), which shares a network drive in my office. The drive is with a different computer. When I take the laptop out of the office network (to a meeting or home), InDesign will not open, it gives me the following error (see attached image). I've tried replacing the Defaults and SavedData files, and also re-installing InDesign from scratch. I still get the same error. Any idea what is happening or how to fix it? Thank you in advance.
    Rafa

    Hi!
I figured out what the issue was, finally. After playing around, I noticed that my InDesign Fonts folder, had "alias" links to some fonts that resided on that shared drive. As soon as I deleted all the ones that where aliases, the error went away. Hopefully this helps someone in the future.
    Rafa.

  • Time Machine restore problem with network drive

Hi, I switched from PC to Mac. I bought a Lacie Network Space 2 (network hd) in an apple store (turns out it's NOT an apple store, it's an apple premium reseller according to the 90 days free telephone support guy, and apple's policy is then: you should have bought a 'time capsule' then.) That doesn't help me now. So I'm hoping some of you might have had this or similar trouble before. The Lacie drive is able to back up my macbook through time machine. It recognizes the drive and it does my backups on a time machine enable share on the hard drive. So I thought it worked like a charm. Until i wanted to go back to a previous date and restore all my data. I read you gotta start from the mac os install dvd and choose the restore option in utility. It recognizes the lacie harddrive. But when i want to connect to it it will say connection failed! I tried this over wifi (the hard drive connect to my linksys router with ethernet cable) and i tried this with the hard drive directly connected to the macbook with ethernet cable. It always finds the harddrive but when i want to connect to it to choose a previous date to restore, i can't even get there because it will say the connection failed. I'd really appreciate some help, because I tried to go on support pages and look up an answer, called apple, but can't really figure out what's wrong. So it can backup, it can restore single or multiple files in time machine, but it can't restore the whole OS when used with the install disc? Also made a dmg file with disk utility, but this one doesn't recognize the network drive. Finder does however. Any tips? Any at all, please?

    Fototom wrote:
I had to mark a 'time machine' checkbox in the Lacie UI for it to be able to work as a time machine drive. So the backups work fine without special terminal commands. It's just weird that it won't restore the full OS back when started up with the install DVD.
Whatever the +LaCie UI+ is, that's probably why you can't do the full restore. That may be doing the equivalent of the Terminal command, to "fool" Time Machine into thinking it's backing-up to a supported destination. But you can't do that when booted from your SL Install disc, so Time Machine can't find the network drive.
I tried the option during Setup Assistant to transfer data earlier, but it won't recognize the drive at that time.
Yes, that's likely for the same reason.
BUT I didn't know about *migration manager*. So the option of installing mac osx again and then creating another user and using the migration assistant, that DOES recognize the time machine backups, will surely work.
Never say "surely" until you know
It would be nice to skip the extra step of having to install the OS first, but this will definitely be a valid option to restore. So for now i'll mark this item solved.
Let us know how it turns out.
If anyone has even a speedier, better option to backup and restore a total disc image (or time machine backup), please let me know.
The time involved is probably about the same; it's just in two steps instead of one.
And there's only one step if you use a "supported" destination: Disks that can be used with Time Machine.
