Encore CS4 export to Flash, link highlights not correct

Hi,
I'm building a DVD project in Encore CS4.
I have many of the links set to highlight a specific menu item upon returning to a given menu.
For example, the default button on the Main Menu is "Section 1"
However, if the user clicks on one of the "extras" listed on that main menu, "about us" for example, then when they return to the Main Menu, I want the "about us" link highlighted, indicating that's where they just came from. (instead of highlighting the default "Section 1" button)
When I test the project in Encore or burn a DVD to test it the links work/highlight as expected.
When I export to Flash and run it in the browser, the default buttons are only ever highlighted upon landing on a menu, instead of the particular ones I've specified when coming from various parts of the disc.
Is this just a limitation of the Flash export?
To specify what item I want highlighted I'm simply using the drop down menu next to the "Link:" item in the Properties panel...
I select the menu I want to link to, then from the flyout, I select one of the available buttons so it'll be the one highlighted. Is this the correct process?
Thanks.

That is the correct process, and this could very well be a limitation of the flash export. Some of the features of encore only work with DVD projects and not with Flash or Blu-ray, although this particular feature does work with Blu-ray.

  • Premiere CS4 to Encore CS4 Export  Quality Problems

I recently purchased a non-linear editing machine with an RTX2 Matrox Card and CS4 Professional. After six or seven projects, I finally noticed that all my imported .avi files exported through Adobe Media Encoder and burned through Encore CS4 are not as crisp, sharp, or look like the original high quality SD footage after the DVD is burned like it always used to look in CS2. ( jumped from CS2 to CS4)
These DVDs were of plays, football, and basketball games. It seems that when the camera shoots a close up, the video looks fine but after you shoot from a distance, there is a considerable difference in the footage. ( alomost blurry) I just caught this and nobody has complained but I watched one of my older DVDs I produced with CS2 and it had no quality loss whatsoever. There is a night and day difference
For the sequences, I am using Matrox SD, NTSC, Standard, 720 x 486  and capturing with firewire through the Matrox card. The raw footage is beautiful. The Video Preview Option is NTSC Standard and the Codec is NTSC Matrox DV/DV Cam.
I can playback a timeline from the Matrox card and burn directly to a DVD burner and the footage is perfect, but when I export, I have chosen Microsoft .avi file, Matrox DV/DV Cam/ MPEG2, and MPEG2DVD.
I have even changed the sequences codec to Matrox MPEG-2 I-Frame and tried exporting using that out of Adobe Media Encoder and am getting the same results.
None of my customers have complained yet, but I definitely do not want to continue producing almost blurry DVDs.
I am using Adobe Premiere CS4 Version 4.1.0 and Encore CS4 Version 4.0.1.048 and Matrox Version 4.1.0.23
Can this problem be related to and eliminated by updating my CS4 Production Suite and my Matrox Software.
I was wondering if anyone had experienced this same issue and what solution they came up with or if anyone knew if the updates would correct this important issue. I just filmed a lengthy play that I have to author through Encore CS4 and I cannot release any more of my productions until this problem is solved. This is a big dollar production and I need some assistance on this matter as soon as possible. Thanks  Jimi White

Thanks for taking the time to help me out. I just purchased my non-linear with CS4 Production Suite and the Matrox RTX2. I have several projects that I am working on right now and I was advised by Adobe, Matrox, and my non-linear vendor, 1 Beyond, to finish those projects before performing updates.
I also found out that If I export using the MPEG2  8Mbps, it cleared up the video dramatically. We had to go through a number of export presets in order to find out what worked best in Encore. I am going to try to finish the project now and will advise on the results.
This is a basketball highlight DVD and that's when I noticed the problem. My other productions were photos to music, and non sporting events and I didn't notice any problems with those DVDs ( they actually looked decent. Worst part about it was, I finished the project once and burned 18 DVDs, and then reviewed one of them and found the problem. I have to start over and just eat the DVDs printed and all.
Thanks again, it was nice of you to get back to me.

  • Encore CS4 problem uploading flash streams to remote ftp in build

    Hi
I'm working on a windows XP and trying to upload to my my remote server which has a new install of the Adobe Flash Streaming Media Server 3.5
    as for Encore
under build when creating a streaming flash I can't log into my ftp site, only to local folder.
I created a link to my ftp site under networks, when trying to link to this FTP Encore won't accept it.
no problem creating flash progressive downloads but impossible to upload the streaming version.
progressive is really not the desired output.
how can I log onto the ftp site?
    thanks in advance
    Klaus

If FTP still doesnt work for you, please try uploading videos to FTP server without using Encore (try windows FTP or a FTP client). If you cannot upload videos anyway, the problem could be with FTP server configuration.
Following are the steps to setup your streaming server. (Steps are for Microsoft IIS FTP server on WinXP. You can use another server also)
    1. You have to install a Flash Media Server 3.5 and a FTP server for this. FMS 3.5 free developer edition can be downloaded from www.adobe.com
    2. Install IIS on winXP from Add/Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components (You may need a windowsXP installation DVD)
    3. Configure FTP server to point to "\Flash Media Server 3\applications\vod\media" folder
(FTP server can be configured from IIS window in Control Panel > Administrative Tools> IIS. Right click Default FTP site > Properties > Home Directory Tab > Set Local Path to "FMS3\applications\vod\media\media" folder)
    4. Encore streaming script for the server will still point to "\Flash Media Server 3\applications\vod" and not to Media folder inside Vod. (For example, if FMS server name is amgupta, FLV streaming location will be "rtmp://{FMServerName}/vod/"
    5. Encore streaming script should be updated at 2 places with the new server names. ("rtmp://FMSservername/vod/flv:" and ftp://FTPservername ). The script is located at "X\Adobe Encore CS4\Required\flashExportScript\localFMS.jsx" where X is the install location of Encore CS4)
    Hope this works.

  • Export to Flash CS3, SWFs not editable - HELP!

    On this page (
    http://www.adobe.com/products/captivate/integration/flash/)
it says about exporting to Flash, "Each Adobe Captivate slide is
automatically inserted into the Flash Timeline, with objects,
images, audio, and backgrounds on individually labeled layers.
Similarly, the Flash library is automatically updated with folders
containing all the objects created in Adobe Captivate 3."
This is not working for me. Instead I'm getting a bunch of
movie placeholders on my main timeline, with all the Captivate
slides exported as SWF files, and I'm not able to edit anything.
What am I doing wrong? Does this have something to do with
    "full motion"?

  • Encore CS4: Exporting in 16:9

I recently switched to shooting in 16:9 rather than 4:3, and am using Encore CS4 to create a DVD from this footage. However, the DVD comes out in 4:3, with the people looking distorted. How can I tell Encore to use 16:9?
    Thank you.

OK, I didn't want to get into this because it's going to make me sound
    stupid...but since you asked:
I thought the TV I was using to view the DVD was a widescreen TV. It has a
physical appearance which would lead one to believe this. I know...how
could anyone not tell the difference? Well I couldn't, until I looked the
model up online and saw that the PAR was listed as 4:3. In my defense I
will say that I rarely use this particular TV (but I still feel pretty
    stupid).
Anyway, the DVD player was set for a PAR of 16:9, which would have worked
just fine if the TV had in fact been widescreen, but since the TV was 4:3,
it scrunched the people up to look unnaturally tall and thin. When I
changed the PAR to 4:3 letterbox, the distortion disappeared. When I saw
this I thought "Oh, it must not be a widescreen TV," because why else would
switching to any type of 4:3 solve the problem?
Your suggestion pointed me in the right direction. I did not realize that I
had to set the PAR on the DVD player itself. I was certain the problem had
    to be something in Encore.
    Thank you.

  • Encore Help | Exporting projects to Flash format

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/encore/using/exporting-projects-flash-format.html

It strikes me that Adobe can't settle on what to call an Encore project that has been output to Flash.
Is it a "Web DVD"? That term is used repeatedly in the New Features section. Is it simply "Flash". The Build panel lists the format as "Flash" and the Output as "Flash (.swf)." Or is it a "Flash DVD" or a "Flash Project"? Both terms are used in this page.
Flash output is an important feature of Encore. It would be a good thing to use a consistent name for the assets you end up with after you output to Flash.

  • Full-slide hyperlinks after exporting to Flash

I have created a simple Keynote presentation (an image, some text, and then a transition to the next image/text slide) that I want to work as a Flash movie with hyperlinks. I want the entire slide to be a hyperlink, but can only get it to work on the text. (In other words, I want the viewer to be able to click anywhere on any slide during the presentation and be taken to a Web site for more information.)
I can make the images hyperlinks and get them to work in Keynote, but when I export to Flash, it does not retain the hyperlinks. If I just make the text hyperlinks, they stay. Still, I don't want the viewer to have to click on the text -- just anywhere in the video.
I believe the problem may be related to the automatic builds and transitions I have set up in Keynote, as a simple one-slide presentation with one image enabled as a hyperlink works just fine when viewed as a Flash video. But I need to keep the transitions.
I am viewing the Flash videos in Safari and Mozilla.
Does anybody know what is causing this?
    Thanks for your help,
    Cavan
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   iLife '05, Keynote 2.0.2

I just tested t his in Keynote 3 and it works fine. The only problem with FULL SLIDE links is you can't make it go to slide 2 without adding some sort of button ON TOP of the full slide link. Also, in my case at least, the Flash plug-in in Safari forced me to change my security settings to allow a flash movie to open a web page. Once I did that and restarted Safari, clicking my first slide opens the Apple page right in the same browser window as the flash movie. Opening the flash in the Stand alone Flash 8 player opens safari, then a new window with my web page.

  • Export in Flash MX works Flash 8 crashes

I have Flash 8 professional and I admit I am very much a
    beginner at flash.
I have taken a basic flash class so I know a few things.
I got a template from template monster. I need to change some
things about the template for my employer’s needs.
My trouble comes when I export the site. The progress bar
pops up and quickly disappears. Then Flash 8 proceeds to crash.
The weird thing is that I have a friend that still has Flash
MX and I got him to try to export the site. It worked fine for him.
If I try the exact same file in Flash 8 it crashes.
    I don’t have Flash MX and I don’t think I can get
it. Does anybody have any ideas why a site that exports in Flash MX
does not export in Flash 8?
Thanks in advance for any information.

    Hi Guys!
    Greg said ...
    quote:
I wonder if Captivate 2.0 will import a Captivate 1.0 and then
export to Flash with the tweens intact? Any idea yet?]
    Hey
Rick, you only made one mistake (but for you even that is
    rare). Greg said
"with the tweens intact" ... and you read
    "... when tweens interact.".
I'm sure you'll agree that with the clarification, it's not
confusing except the extent to which Greg expects or desires that
movement of objects - including "transitions"? - in the original
Captivate project be preserved after bringing it into Flash 8. As
    far as CP1 - to - CP2 - to Flash 8 is concerned, CP1 projects seem
to me to be converted very well. And moving the (now CP2) project
conversion into Flash 8, there is little that won't come along
    nicely.
Yes, Greg, including the tweens, which are preserved for the
objects I looked at specifically ... but the right person to answer
that question might be Mark (Fletcher) instead of myself. I
imported CP movies to Flash 8 only to see if it was being done
without the previous loss of non-supported elements (etc.) but I
have no intention of actually working with my Captivate projects
inside the Flash environment - during beta, now, or ever. I just
feel that the power of Captivate is sufficient for my purposes, and
importing it to Flash 8 would accomplish little except to put the
horse in hen-house. (That makes perfect sense to me, and is greatly
humorous as well; but if you don't "get it", I don't think I can
    explain it.

  • Exporting to flash with embedded video HELP

I am working on a presentation that includes a video I shot and edited on FCP. I used compressor to resize and reformat to a mpeg4, which I thought would be a very universal format. However, while it does play nicely in my Keynote presentation, it refuses to export to flash. groan.
Can anyone suggest a video format that will play nicely in my keynote presentation and export to flash?
Note: If it matters or helps: I always post my presentations in flash for my non-mac co-workers. They are able to view them in explorer from the intranet. They can also download, place them on usb flash drives and give them to potential clients. Everything was fine until I started to add video (which of course everyone wants).
    Thank you very much
MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Welcome to the discussions, jimfospace.
Anytime you export to Flash, it will not include the video so, no, there's not a format that will play at all when exported to Flash.

I have finished editing and making about a 30 minute movie for a project I am working on, when I view the movie through iMovie on full-screen, everything is fine.
When I finally export the movie (No matter how I export it) the audio is not correctly placed.
For example, I will hear the audio from a clip 20 minutes into the movie in the beginning of the movie and a lot of parts of the movie are muted, The audio is scattered throughout the entire clip with no pattern at all. I have no clue what this could be and I need help as soon as possible, I appreciate all responses.

  • Export To Flash in Encore CS4 on the Mac

It has been widely reported (and I have confirmed) that Encore CS3 will not Build to Flash on a Mac running Leopard 10.5.5 and Quicktime 7.5.5 (the latest versions of Mac OS X and Quicktime). I would be most appreciative if anyone who has received Encore CS4 can determine if Build To Flash works on a Mac running OS 10.5.5 and Quicktime 7.5.5.
Thank you in advance for responding.
    Tom

Since no one has responded to my post on this issue, I can now provide the answer. First however, I want to insert the final comment in a long customer service request that I have had running with Adobe Technical Support since early August on this issue.
    "Monday, October 20, 2008 1:59:20 PM PDT
    Hello Tom,
Thank you for contacting Adobe® Web Support for assistance with Adobe
    Encore® CS3.
I understand that you are not able to export as flash from Encore CS3.
On my Mac, I have OS 10.5.5, and QuickTime 7.5.5. I tested this issue
with Encore CS3 and CS4. The export worked just fine on CS4, but again
failed on CS3. I spoke with Adam, and a few others around, and were not
quite sure why he was able to get this to work. I am 100% certain that
using the same workflow, his Mac is able to handle this process, but
none of the others I was able to try this on could. As far as I am
concerned, his ability to perform this export is a fluke, and cannot be
    reproduced through known methods.
However, the issue is resolved in the CS4 release, so you should be all
set to do your flash exports once you get your upgrade.
I hope this information helps to resolve your issue. If you require
further assistance with this issue, please update your web case with
complete details, including what steps you have applied and any error
    messages you are receiving.

Now let me post my response:
    "Thursday, October 23, 2008 12:40:06 PM PDT
    Joshua E.,
Thank you for your clear response to the issue of not being able to Build to Flash using Encore CS3. I can confirm the 100% accuracy
of everything you have said by adding my own experiences of the last 48 hours with Adobe Production Premium CS3 and CS4.
Two days ago I purchased the new Macbook Pro (Intel 2.53 GHz, 4 GB RAM). Immediately after setting up the Macbook Pro and getting i
t operating, I installed Adobe Production Premium CS3 (and all updates to CS3 Production Premium) on this brand new Macbook Pro. No
other software outside of the Mac OS 10.5.5 (and all updates to it) had been installed on this Macbook Pro. I then opened Premiere
CS3, placed 10 seconds of bars and tone in the timeline, and directly exported this to Encore CS3. I then selected Build To Flash.
Once again Encore CS3 froze at the "transcoding video" step and would not progress beyond 20%. This is the exact same behavior I
had on my Mac Pro 8-core machine and reported in this thread.
I then installed Adobe Production Premium CS4 on my Mac Pro 8-core. I followed the above step with the exception that apparently di
rect export from Premiere Pro CS4 to Encore CS4 is no longer available. I simple exported the Premiere Pro 10 second timeline to a
Quicktime .mov file using the Export>Media command in Premiere Pro CS4. I then took this .mov file into Encore CS4 and without bui
lding any menus, selected Build To Flash. The Build to Flash occurred perfectly with no problems at the "transcoding video" step or
    any other step.
Needless to say, I am very pleased to see that Adobe has corrected the problems with Build to Flash in CS4 on a Mac. However, this
problem had been well reported in numerous forums (including the Adobe Encore Forum) on the web as far back as six months ago, and
I am saddened to see that Adobe did not feel it was worth the effort to repair the issue with Build To Flash in CS3 on a Mac that w
as apparently caused by an upgrade to Quicktime that Apple released sometime after Quicktime 7.3.1. I cannot expect Apple to addres
s issues with Adobe software caused by their Quicktime upgrades. I do, however, expect Adobe to see that their software runs on the
latest editions of both Mac OS X and Quicktime. Otherwise, as happened with Encore CS3 and Build to Flash on a Mac, the customer bu
ys the software expecting it to work and it does not. We are in a tough economy now. I need the software from Adobe that supports
my media production company to work, and I don't need Apple and Adobe pointing the finger at each other when it does not. I hope th
at you will pass this message along to senior Adobe management.
I do thank you for telling me your observations on Build To Flash with a Mac under Encore CS3.

  • Captivate 4 not exporting to Flash CS4 correctly

When I export from Captivate 4 to Flash CS4 it doesn't place the imported objects on their own timeline. Instead, it places each object into a movie symbol, which has its own timeline. The problem is that when I save it as a .swf in Flash and then I open it in After Effects none of the highlight boxes are visible.
As you know, After Effects does not see Flash symbols that are buried below the main timeline.
I opened up a project I worked on a year ago (with a different computer) and the Flash files had the exported Captivate items on the main timeline with the object on its own layer. Those files work fine in After Effects.
Can anyone tell me if they are having the same export issue with Captivate 4 not exporting its elements in Flash on the main timeline (as seen in the help file: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Captivate/4.0/Using/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d119e9582981-7fff. html)?
    Thanks!

I found the solution here (http://labnol.blogspot.com/2004/09/export-captivate-movie-to-macromedia.html). I'll reprint the steps here:
    1. Close Flash CS4 if it is open.
    2. Open Windows Explorer.
    3. Navigate to:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Captivate
    4. Copy the RDMFISTUB.dll file.
    5. Navigate to:
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash CS4\en\Configuration
Note: The 'Local Settings' folder by default is hidden. If you are unable to locate the 'Local Settings' folder you can unhide it by opening Windows Explorer, select Tools > Folder Options > View, and select the option to 'Show hidden files and folders'.
    6. Create a new folder called Importers. Your final path should look like this:
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash 8\en\Configuration\Importers
    7. Paste the RDMFISTUB.dll into the Importers folder.
    8. Open Flash CS4.
    9. Create a New Flash Document. Save the document (or Flash may freeze when importing)
    10. Select File > Import > Import to Stage.
    11. Browse to and select the CP file.
    12. Click OK.
Here is a comparison picture of the results. Without the steps above the imported Captivate assets will reside inside of a movie symbol (one for each slide). This is labeled "incorrect" in the image. I want each asset on a new layer in the root timeline. This is labeled "correct" in the image.
I want to go from Captivate to Flash to After Effects (because Captivate generated Flash files are unreadable in After Effects). For full disclosure, I used Captivate 3 in the steps above, but I hope this is a solution for Captivate 4 as well (I decided to stick with Captivate 3 because it worked in a project I used a year ago).
