Entering info on the Get Info Info page
I have misspelled entries a few times. Even after correcting the word whenever a new entry is made ITunes still tries to copy in the incorrect word. Example: I once entered "Audiio" then corrected it to "Audio". Whenever I enter that word again I have to type the whole word or "Audiio" is copied. In the past I could just enter "Au" and the rest would fill in. This is just one example.
Is there a cache file or buffer that I can clear either totally or selectively?

Use the search field to make sure you have eliminated every single misspelled entry... then maybe try relaunching iTunes.

After upgrading to 8.0 from 7.0.1 every time I start FF I get the add-on compatibility tool to run and the Getting Started web page loads along with my homepage in separate tabs as well. So far I have tried running the installer again, disabling all add-0ns and custom settings and restarting and turning off automatic updates. Nothing worked there. I got the same behavior each time. I don't know what else to try other than a full uninstall and reinstall. Something I'd like to avoid if it's possible because of the time involved. This is the second time I have posted regarding this issue. The first time I didn't get a response. A solution or a possible workaround would be greatly appreciated if anyone knows of any. As a staff member and a global forum moderator for an anti-virus company I understand how hectic things can be at times but some feedback, good or bad, on this issue would be very welcomed! Hi michaell, thanks for the reply. I tried everything in the Preferences are not saved link you provided and nothing worked there. If creating a new profile will delete all my add-ons and custom settings I might as well just do a complete uninstall and reinstall. That actually would be easier. That article told me how to save my bookmarks though so I don't have to loose those which is nice. I don't know if this makes any difference but there is a discrepancy between the preference file in the article which is: prefs.js and what's showing on my PC which is: prefs with no .js suffix. I tried to rename the file to prefs.js and restarted. No luck there either. It just created another prefs file. I guess we've pretty much exhausted all the avenues to try! Why is the Flash Installation Web Page Causing IE8 to Hang?
I have a brand new, fresh installation of WinXP SP3 here. Just the OS with the updates and required hardware drivers, IE8, Firefox, Java, AVG Free 8.5 and Comodo with just the firewall enabled. That's it so far.
So now when I go to the "Get Flash Player" page at Adobe it consistently hangs when the gold bar appears to run Adobe DLM. After a few seconds a dialog box appears saying Dr Watson has crashed. At that point the browser is totally hung. Happens every time. I tried doing a full reset of IE8 from its Options-Advanced menu, and also tried accessing the Flash install page after exiting both AVG and Comodo to make sure they weren't causing it, but still no go.
I know I could just download the standalone ActiveX installer and probably get Flash up and running, but since I'm trying to build this machine from scratch to be as bug-free as possible I'd like to get to the bottom of this now so it doesn't continue to be an issue down the road. Any ideas?This problem is becoming more prevelant.
It can be reliably produced by
Install WindowsXP service pack 2 - which includes IE6.
Download, either manually, or by Windows Update, IE8.
Go to get.adobe.com/flashplayer
Click on download.
The next screen tells you about the warning gold bar which is about to appear.
Either immediately after the bar appears, or immediately before it appears, IE locks up.
Task manager is required to get rid of IE8.
It also occurs, less predictably, with computers which have been upgraded IE6 - IE7 - IE8.
In each case, uninstalling IE8 and reverting to IE6 or 7 allows flash and reader to be installed (both use Adobe DLM, which is the cause of the problem). Shockwave isn't affected, as it uses a different download mechanism.
It is time this was fixed! -
The latest version of Mavericks does not allow a Pages document to become a 'stationery pad'! Is there a way to do this this other than through the 'Get Info' window? As Pages templates cannot be ordered in folders, my many templates are effectively unusable now and I need to find another way to order and access them.
Are you aware of that you can still use Pages 09 on Mavericks? You don't have to go thru the grieves of using the crippled Pages 5. Pages 09 should bi in Applications/iWork 09 folder.

If i add myself for all the contacts in the CONTACT INFO page will i get rejected by apple?
So im setting up my itunes connect page and i need to enter contacts in the CONTACT INFO page but i just started this and its only me, i dont have anyone else with me so if i were to put myself as all the contacts will apple deny my application? also how do i know if i am exempt and stuff? please answer as soon as possible

When I go to a Pages document, I can't get a cursor to enter info.
Why no cursor to enter info in Pages?
Pages creates two types of document: Word processing documents and Page layout documents.
Word processing documents include a default Text layer into which text can be entered directly.
Page layout documents do not contain a Text layer. Those created with either of the Blank Canvas templates contain nothing except an empty canvas onto which objects, including Text boxes, may be placed. To enter text on a Page layout document, you will first need to insert a Text box (or a Shape) using the Text button or the Shapes button in the Toolbar. Click inside the Text box, and you will see the insertion point and be able to enter txt from the keyboard or from the Clipboard.

I attached an external drive to my macbook pro for backup purposes. I found that the device is 'read only' for me. I read that I could change permissions by selecting 'get info' for a item and clicking the lock icon to submit my password. The lock icon is not displayed on any 'info' window for any file on my macbook, much less the attached drive. I am the only user and administrator as far as I know. What steps can I take to change permissions? Thanks. My 1st post.
How can I tell? The 'get info' window has no lock and under sharing and permissions, on says 'you can only read'. I did a get info on the Macintosh HD and it had a lock on it but said I could only read, for what that it worth.

I've cleared almost 30 gig off of my hard drive in the past 2 weeks, and it will temporarily show that in the Get Info box. But hours later, I am still getting a disk full error and all of the memory has disappeared. I have cleared my backup logs from Time Machine, checked the mail folder, cleaned out tons of photos and videos and it still keeps filling back up.
In checking the log files, here is the message repeated over and over....

Quit Calendar. Triple-click the line below to select it:
~/Library/Calendars/Calendar Cache
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu. A Finder window should open with a file named "Calendar Cache" selected.
Move the selected file to the Trash. There may be one or two other files in the same folder with names that begin in "Calendar Cache". If so, delete those files too.
Step 2
Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash as well:
iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of your data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
To locate large files, you can use Spotlight. That method may not find large folders that contain a lot of small files.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
Back up all data now.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders. It may take some minutes for ODS to list all the files.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal. -
Got a MacBook Air 128 flash storage like a month ago and in the last few days I have gon into the "get info" it says there that I have 160 GB avalibile , dos anyone know what could be going on with my Mac?
This issue can be caused by a corrupt local snapshot index. The procedure below will temporarily disable local snapshots and force the index to be rebuilt.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
sudo tmutil disablelocal
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command.
To re-enable:
sudo tmutil enablelocal -
Can you see a image in the Get Info Window?
After upgrading to Mt LIon and while using CS6, I can't see image previews in the Get Info window. Can't see images in the upper left corner of the get info window, so I can't make a selection and then do a copy- paste like I could do before I upgraded to Mt Lion with CS6. I want to be able to paste a image of the subjects in my folders.. IE folder of Panda Bears would have a image of a Panda showing on that folder. Folder of The Great Wall would have a image of the Great Wall on the Folder of Great Wall pictures. This has always worked for the past many years I have used a Mac and Photoshop. I started with Photoshop 2. All my photo folders are represented by images so I have a good idea of what is contained in each folder. Now after 2 weeks in China, 20 folders are represented by 10-11-12, 10-12-12, 10-13-12, 10-14-12 and so on. Shows me nothing but dates. I have tried saving as Jpeg, Tiff, and PAD, and still can't do a copy-paste in the Get Info window. Apple says it is a Adobe problem, Yesterday Adobe told me it is because I am uusing a Nikon D800 and Adobe does not have a patcdh for the NEW Nikon camera. I then tried using my Nikon D2Xs, Nikon D3X, Nikon 800 and even my wife's D50 and none of these camera allow me to copy paste the thumbnail image to the clipoboard like I have been able to do for YEARS... I can see images in a folder in Bridge, but the images dont show in my desktop folders.IE, a folder on my desktop with 200 pictures only show with words/ numbers/letters NO IMAGES appear in the folders on the desktop. On some folders the folders in a folder don't show up as Folders either.

Adobe is the clear owner of the responsibility to make functional their product that they claim is compatible with your operating system. Adobe is the one who sold you the product.
I just went looking for what Adobe has said about Mountain Lion compatibility, and they both list Mountain Lion as compatible and include such language as that on this page (emphasis mine):
Adobe and Apple have worked closely together to test Adobe® Creative Suite® 5, 5.5 and CS6 editions and individual products for reliability, performance and user experience when installed on Intel® based systems running Mac OS X Mountain Lion (v10.8). Earlier versions of Adobe Photoshop® (CS3 and CS4) software were also tested with Mountain Lion and there are currently no known issues.
I suggest that Adobe needs to get on the ball and get this fixed. The time for user patience is over.
If someone from Adobe is saying "Adobe can't fix it" then that someone is at the wrong authority level and/or is thinking on the wrong level.
This is business and the business is making products that have value and are sold to people who perceive that value. Adobe doesn't get to keep selling products that don't work while standing on principles that "it's someone else's problem". Customers don't care why it doesn't work.
It's obvious to a child that if Photoshop CS5 can write the proper things to the Apple OS so that the thumbnails are visible, that there's something Adobe could do to fix it.
But EVEN IF this were something only Apple could fix, that Apple hasn't fixed it yet says pretty loudly that Adobe isn't making the right overtures to Apple for their mutual benefit. Adobe, are your executives so greedy that they can't grease a few palms of their friends over at Apple to put some priority on this? What's the problem here? Has Adobe actually forgotten how to do business?

P.S., You should know that I don't use a Mac and am personally having no issues with seeing proper thumbnails and previews on my Windows 7 and 8 systems, since the software that does that isn't from Adobe. -
I'm trying to load flash file in iWeb and when i enter info in the "html snippet" box a "missing plug-in" message comes up (although i have Adobe Flash player installed, if that's the plug-in they're looking for). Anyone have any similar problems or solutions. Thanks
when i publish my site and vew it the page on the web it just comes up with the file name w/ the ,swf and the "mising plug-in" message below. if i click on the file name it displays the flash file but gigantic (the entire height of the page).totally perplexed!

How to track Entered info at ADF UI page in ApplicationModuleImp.java

I am working on one ADF Requirement ,where i ll be configuring DB multiple table(there ll be FK-relationship between all these tables) through ADF UI page.
requirement is:
I will be having ADF UI Page (I have my VO based on multiple EO's)
At runtime if i provide Details in UI page ,those data should go respective tables through single control. UI wont be having all the Columns, I will be tracking related columns through java method then i am updating the same to Other table.
I can track these values in managed Bean class by using Below Code

look you directly have a control of UI entered data in your managed bean. then you just create a custom method in am impl with parameters. expose the same in client interface, then call the impl method from managed bean and paas the entered values as parameters.

I am developing a 2 page signup form, where the person enters their username on the 1st page and password on the 2nd.
When I test the form, FF asks to remember my password for the site - however it thinks the zipcode (field above the password) is the username on the account.
I have tried to put their username/email in a hidden field on the 2nd page, just above the password field - and that did not work.
How can i force FF to use the username from previous page when it asks to remember acct info?This website is using autocomplete=off to prevent Firefox from saving and filling the name and password.
You can remove autocomplete=off with a bookmarklet to make Firefox save names and passwords and other form data.

I tried to do a cut and paste like I used to do for album covers that iTunes doesn't carry( go figure) and the 12 version wont let you instead it has a window pop up for pictures that your suppose to direct it to get the artwork from. That's a lot of work! All I can say is simplify and do more research before the next release. also iTunes has always had problems freezing up. This verion and past verisons. I'd go to a different player put I've already invested thousands of dollars in my iTunes media and the earlier stuff doesn't play on different players. So here I am stuck.
The iTunes 12 Get Info dialog lacks right-click context menus (at least for now) but it still accepts most standard keyboard shortcuts and drag & drop actions.
Delete Artwork
On the artwork tab of Get Into, tap the image in question, use Backspace or Ctrl+X. Delete doesn't work.
Or, tap the image at the top left of Get Info, this time use Backspace or Delete, it is Ctrl+X that doesn't work.
Add Artwork
Select artwork, press Ctrl+C to copy, tap the center of the Artwork tab, press Ctrl+V to paste.
Or, select artwork, press Ctrl+C to copy, tap the small image area at the top left, press Ctrl+V to paste.
Or, you can drag & drop to, or sometimes from, the same locations.
You can also copy artwork from the Get Info dialog to Windows Explorer with the keyboard shortcuts.
If the source image is on a web page right-click and use Copy Image rather than copy. (With Chrome I get a one pixel wraparound so tend to go for a temporary local copy anyway - not sure whose bug this is, but it isn't new.)
If you have multiple images embedded drag the one you want to be the primary artwork to the leftmost position.
Replace/Remove All Artwork
The top left image box can be used to add or delete art from multiple tracks. In either case all existing artwork in all tracks is replaced/removed.
Old Style Get Info Dialog
Select some items, right-click, hold down shift, then click Get Info from the context menu. (Use alt/option on a Mac)

I can no longer delete lines on the get info screen
I'm trying to delete the artist on the get info screen. Until a few days ago, I was able to do so. Now, when I delete the artist, the get info screen appears as if the line has been deleted. However, when I click "OK" then close the screen, it hasn't been deleted. When I reopen the screen, that info is still there. I'm not doing anything differently that I did before. Is this a software issue in the latest version of iTunes?
Try going to settings> general> usage> storage> manage storage> look for the app and delete it from there.
