Error in EHPi at downtime phase DEPLOY_ONLINE_DEPL.

Hello,
We are getting error in downtime phase DEPLOY_ONLINE_DEPL as java.lang.NullPointerException: null and other term in the error ticket is Error while executing DeploymentManager phase with action deploySlot. I searched the notes pointing to this and none of the notes seem to solve the problem . Also i was not able to find thread related to this. Any help would be appreciated.

Upgrade to Solution Manager 7.1 stopped in phase DEPLOY_ONLINE_DEPL

Dears,
we are upgrading our Solution Manaher from Ehp1 for Nw 70, to Nw.71.
While on the ABAP tab is in progress the phase MAIN_NEWBAS\TABIM_UPG on the J2EE tab we are blocked in phase DEPLOY_ONLINE_DEPL.
As suggested from the Ehpi screen we read note 1399846, but our case is different so the note is not usable.
First in the logs we have the message:

after a reboot of the system and a restart of the upgrade process the
error changed and it was as described in note 1399846.
So we applied the workaround suggested, but now we have a new error.
If we restart the upgrade process doing first startsap(so starting both Abap+Java), the upgrade process for the J2EE tab complains the stack provided and used till now (we are already in the DOWNTIME phase) does not match the system status.
If we restart the upgrade leaving the Abap+java instances down the upgrade process complain the SDM is nit 'is not
able to connect to the system.
I read somewhere It's possible to disable the upgrade process for the Java stack, in order to complete that one for the ABap stack.
Then for the Java Stack we could use the normal JSPM, but I'm not able to find the relative Oss note.
Any advise ?

Take very long time in phase DEPLOY_ONLINE_DEPL when install EHP1

I need help for anyone that read my thread. I get trouble when install SAP EHP1 for SAP NetWeaver 7.1 at our client server, in phase DEPLOY_ONLINE_DEPL(Downtime Step). The phase take very long time. It has been more than 5 hours, but there is no progress. Now, the ABAP Stack has been in MAIN_NEWBAS/GETSYNC_MODPROF_STARTED, to wait process from JAVA stack. Urgent -- SOLMANUP -- Problems in Phase DEPLOY_ONLINE_DEPL

Hello, 
i'm trying to update my SOLMAN from 7 EHP1 to 7.1 (Running Linux (x86)/Oracle DB) with SOLMANUP 
I'm hanging in the downtime phase now: DEPLOY_ONLINE_DEPL (Java EE)... 
It looks like it's a password-problem, no doubt, but where can i set or check the passwords in the downtime pahse ? 
 
i tried to start SDM for checking the password but i can't start the SDM Server. 
Please could anyone give me some advices how to check/change the passwords to go ahead with SOLMANUP here.

I'm getting an error in DEPLOY_ONLINE_DEPL phase (Downtime Roadmap) under J2EE tab in enhancement package installation in our BW System (Netweaver 7.0 SP 17 to NW 7.01 SPS 05 DualStack ABAP+JAVA)
The system is running on High Availability server.
Restarting Q2B 00 instance failed.
Cannot find instance with instance number 0 on host mcho35au in the cluster.
I'm not sure, but maybe anything is wrong with my profiles...? I don't know....
All J2EE deployments has been successfully finished (JSPM).
I have restarted all instances DVEBMGS00 & SCS01 and Shadow Instance DVEBMGS02. SCS01 Instance is up and running as well.
Then I have stop EHPI Upgrade and start it again.

stop all instances (shadow instance, SCSxx)
In a High Availability server you have to modify few parameters in DEFAULT profile temporarily (replace alias-servername with real hostname):
DEFAULT.PFL: SAPLOCALHOST = mcho35au
DEFAULT.PFL: SAPDBHOST = mcho35au
DEFAULT.PFL: rdisp/mshost = mcho35au

Error in EHPI Tool in EHP4 upgrade process

Hello All,
I have ECC dual stack server at EHP3 and i am upgrading it to EHP4 via EHPI Tool.
In EHPI wizard "Configuration" step for ABAP is done properly but in J2EE it is stuck with an error "An error has occurred during the execution of the PREPARE_JSPM_QUEUE phase.
The stack XML D:\SID_Upgrade_Data\SMSDXML_SID_20091217105348.343.xml is not supported by this EHP installer."
I have seen the log file of EHPi it says.
"The stack XML D:\SID_Upgrade_Data\SMSDXML_SID_20091217105348.343.xml is not supported by this EHP installer."
At the time of creation of Stack configuration xml file i have selected all the SCA from solutiion manager, but i cant understand why J2EE is not accepting the xml that is properly identified by ABAP?
What can be the reson for this.

Cannot start AS Java

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to upgrade my SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1 EHP1 (32b) to SP05.
Unfortunately, during deplyment, just after the one of JVM components (from 5.01.24.0 to 5.01.53.0), the procedure is trying to restart AS Java unsuccessfully. Result is that the deployment cannot proceed properly.
I tried to restart AS java by myself, but from log (down here) it seems the start of java.exe is exceeding the whatchdog timeout, then it is skipped:

Phase DEPLOY_ONLINE_DEPL: Timeout During AS Java Restart
On slow/loaded systems, the DEPLOY_ONLINE_DEPL phase might fail due to a timeout during AS Java restart. This restart can take several hours as during this time portal applications are updated. If this restart takes longer than expected (3h), the Software Update Manager stops with an error.
To complete the update process, wait for the AS Java restart in SAFE mode to finish and then resume SUM. If the system is still in SAFE mode after the update process completes, apply SAP Note 1267123.
Also I recommend you to check free space in database.

Have you tried to stop manually and restart it again ?
Also, read the troubleshooting guide in <upgrade directory>/EHPI/java/htdoc. Similar situation is described there.

I am having an issue while installing EHP 1 SP 07.

Hi,
Have you checked SAP note known problems with Support Packages for your release? Normally these kind of erros are recorded in that Note.
XPRA_EXECUTION :- This phase executes the XPRAs and after-import methods
The error shows, syntax error was found in the program /1BCDWBEN/SAPLFEN0007:
"The type "CI_DFKKREP06" is unknown."
You can also do a syntax check in SE38 for the program /1BCDWBEN/SAPLFEN0007, it will show the same error. You can take help of an ABAPer to see what can be done here. You should also create support message to SAP if you are not able to get any standard notes/ known error list.

EHPI failed in DEPLOY_ONLINE_DEPL

I am upgrading my PI system from NW700 SPS14 to NW7.01 SPS3 with EHPI.
In the DEPLOY_ONLINE_DEPL it fails because SDM server is being shutdown
while the JSPM is trying to update the SDM repository. My full problem

Restart SAP System 01 ONLY in SAPMMC then totally get out of SAPMMC before proceeding.

Canu2019t find why? I am sure that in fact the EHPI is shutting it down.
Updated the kernel as per OSS Note 1274006 and 1122058 and per Kreasanu2019s suggestion.
Shutdown all SAP processes, unpacked kernel into SYS directory, restarted SAP, restarted EHPI (not from the start though).

In fact because the UME has been set to ABAP, and the j2ee_admin is on the ABAP, it is not used because the ABAP has been moved to the shadow and is locked for upgrade.
What SAPjup does then is create a SAP* on the java and changes the secure store to use the SAP* user. I have double checked the secure store and I am able to log into the NWA as the SAP*(java) user (although the screen is blank like there is no user context).
The log file also shows that the SAP* user is being used.
The problem seams to be more that the SDM server is not running, and in fact it's not. Even if I change it to mode=integrated and start it, the upgrade stops teh server then changes it back to mode=standalone for some reason? The sdmlog###.log shos this but there are no errors.
