Error caused due to PL/SQL
I have this PL/SQL item type based on a store proc... the stored proc returns the correct result but when I add this stored proc to the page the rest of the html portlets get the following errors on the header and body content what can be the reason.
Error Message
Error: The listener returned the following Message: 503 Service Unavailable

If you have any idea, or if you have come across such issues and have found a solution then kindly do let me know.
It has nothing to do with Java. Assume two sessions select version + 1 for same trade at the same time. As a result both sessions will try to insert row with same trade, version combination. In fact, even if session B selects version + 1 after session A selects version+1 and inserts new row but before session A commits, session B will not see new row inserted by session A and therefore session B version+1 will be same as in session A. This is called statement level read consistency. Select statement will not see neither other session uncommitted changes nor other session changes committed after select was issued.

Cause is mentioned as : "The cause for this error is due to person name is not assigned to the FND_USER."
Do we need to attach the person name of employee whose reverse Global deployment we are doing or the person name of the person who is doing this transaction.
Thanks & Regards,
Kirti Mohan SharmaYou just need to attach the person to the FND User. System Administrator responsibility - Security - User screen.
After you have linked the person, you can check the table
Select * from FND_USER
Where user_name = '<user_name>';

Scheduling error causing - ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
Hello
I have the following problem, I created an scenario that its supposed to run every 1 hour, it has an interface that moves an amount of records from one table to another (the amount of records is not fixed it changes). The problem arises when the amount of data to move is so big that the hour between executions is not enough and the scenario is still running when a second execution of the same scenario starts to run (as scheduled), so in the interface when the second process is trying to run the loading step it fails and I got the error ODI-1228 Caused By: java.sql.BatchUpdateException: ORA-00942: table or view does not exists. So the scenario fails and it logs this error. I think the error is due to the table in stage being locked by the first execution of the scenario.
I don't want to change the amount of time between executions because it is usually enough, I just want to avoid the execution of a scenario when there is another execution of the same scenario still running, is there any way to do this?.
Thanks
LJHello
Thanks for your answer, I already have the "Interval between repetitions" property set to 1 hour, but when one execution takes more than one hour the scheduler starts another and I have 2 processes accessing the same table and it is when I have a concurrence error on the staging table.
How can I ensure that I wont have two or more executions of the same scenario running at the same time?.
Thanks,

Unable to cycle error log due to lock that will not clear
Hello,
Currently I'm having an issue with cycling the error log on two SQL Server Instances because the file is being used by another process. Simple I know but, when you try to kill the SPID it becomes hung and we are forced to restart the instance, which I want
to avoid at all costs. To give you some background we use sqldm for our monitoring of the databases and received a message that our Error log reached its max size threshold and to cycle the error log. When I executed exec sp_cycle_errorlog I'm told the following
message:
Msg 17049, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_cycle_errorlog, Line 9
Unable to cycle error log file from 'J:\MSSQL10.SQL6\MSSQL\Log\ERRORLOG.1' to 'J:\MSSQL10.SQL6\MSSQL\Log\ERRORLOG.2' due to OS error '32(The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.)'. A process outside of SQL Server may be
preventing SQL Server from reading the files. As a result, errorlog entries may be lost and it may not be possible to view some SQL Server errorlogs. Make sure no other processes have locked the file with write-only access."
DBCC execution completed. If DBCC printed error messages, contact your system administrator.
Then I ran the following query in instance A and found that sqldm had a active process.
SELECT *
FROM sys.dm_exec_requests a
OUTER APPLY sys.dm_exec_sql_text(a.sql_handle) b
WHERE session_id > 50
and session_id <> @@spid AND( text = 'xp_readerrorlog' OR text = 'sp_cycle_errorlog')
ORDER BY start_time a
Like I said before when I kill the SPID it became hung and remains in a rollback state (the process is not rolling back). My co-worker had this issue before on this same instance and contacted Idera for support, here was their response "The development
team provided an update regarding this case. After reviewing the code, SQLdm only reads the SQL logs information in each collection and does not lock this resource. Given the behavior that you described, this could be a problem of SQL Server 2008"
I believe they're right because we're only seeing this in these two instances. All other instances using sqldm are not reporting this problem which leads me to believe it is MS SQL Server causing it. This is where I'm stuck and that is trying to find out why
there is a lock on this file and for what reason. I used Process explorer yesterday to search for any processes that are using ERRORLOG through the Find DLL and Handle window and there were mulitple processes touching this file. When I looked today I'm seeing
now locks for this file and I still cannot cycle the error log. I ran the slect query above I'm still seeing sqldm SPID in both instances. I'm curious to see if anyone else has had this issue before whether they used sqldm or not. Any information will be helpful
in tracking this issue down.
Thank you in advance.
Process Explorer Search Results
Instance A
Instance BHi,
Generally, I use Process Explorer to find out which process is blocking the SQL Server from cycling the error log file. Open search box for ‘errorlog’ or dentify the entries with Handle or DLL as ‘your error log path’. There could be two
or more processes relating to that. One of them should be ‘sqlservr.exe’, and the others should be the culprits. Verify the process, and try to terminate it and then you should be able to run the stored procedure ‘sp_cycle_errorlog’ to cycle the
error log without restarting the SQL Server.
According to the images, there is no process found. I suggest you start the monitor and launch procexp.exe tool again and see if it makes any difference this time. If still no progress, I think you cannot avoid restating.
Thanks.

I have SP Server 2010, and when I try to DELETE a rule within an existing Audience, "Property (Account Name) = domain/username", I get this error, "An error has occurred while accessing SQL database or system resources. If this
is the first time you have seen this message, please try again later. If this
problem persists, please contact your administrator." When I try to "MODIFY" the rule I get this error, "One or more values typed on this page are not valid. Check the text for the indicated fields."
The last time I checked it was working, I'm not aware of any new updates installed recently? I did a full Profile Synchronization as well, but still not working, please advise? -- EvenstarlineHi Sara,
First of all thank you very much for your prompt responses. Here are my comments to each of your suggestions below, and just to let you know I am using a Farm Admin account. I
was able to do this way after we upgraded from SP 2007 to SP 2010 as well. I would like to mention I'm not a SP expert, just been given the responsibility due to another person handling it just left, so apologize with some of
my novice questions below?
1. When I change the Operators to "Contains" or "Not Contains" get generates this error below.
Error generating in red towards top of the audience page..."One or more values typed on this page are not valid. Check the text for the indicated fields."
Error occurred where you enter your "Value"..."Could not resolve the user identity. Please re-enter the account name."
2. We have a 3-server-tier topology (SPWeb, SPDB, and SPFarm). Does the updates only apply to where the Central Admin is installed, which is the "SPFarm"? I checked all
3 servers, and NONE of the updates (KB2899494, KB2889845, and KB2883055) you'd mentioned are installed.
3. I'm new to IISRET, I need to be extra cautious of what I run in production, is this safe to run with no problem? What does it do? And How do I run it?
4. I'm also new to viewing the ULS log. I'd just downloaded a viewer for it. I'm assuming the only logs I need to be concern with viewing are within the SPAdmin (where Central
Admin is installed)? There's so many of them, what should I be looking for exactly?

Page error causes server to crash
These are the symptoms: we start loading a page and Oracle launches a process that hogs as much CPU as it can, slowing everything on the server to a near standstill. If we don't catch it within about 5 minutes, we cannot even log on to kill the process. Within a short space of time the OS is paging like crazy, and within about 10 minutes the 4GB of physical memory and 8GB of swap is all used up. The page never loads, and a few minutes after starting to load the page we get a 404 error. What happens after the available memory falls to zero is unpredictable but never good.
Our APEX/Oracle environment is as follows:
Product Build: 3.0.0.00.20
Language Preference: en-gb
NLS_CHARACTERSET: WE8ISO8859P1
DAD CHARACTERSET: ISO-8859-1
Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - 64bit
PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production
CORE 10.2.0.1.0 Production
TNS for Linux: Version 10.2.0.1.0 - Production
NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.1.0 - Production
OS: Red Hat Linux ES4 64bit
First, I have to hold my hands up and say that it's always caused by an error that we have made, but often these are relatively trivial errors on the page that APEX will either gloss over or handle correctly 99 times out of a hundred (and certainly nothing obvious like an infinite loop). These kinds of problems also occur very rarely (thankfully), but what gets me is why the result is quite so catastrophic. I should also say that we're talking about a development environment containing very little data - the example we tested is a page with 3 report regions each based on fewer than 100 rows of data, comprising around 20 numeric columns, some dates, flags and audit information.
What I'm keen to understand is whether this is a consequence of Oracle misconfiguration, or if there is anything else (other than never making any coding errors) that we can do to stop this from happening.
These are examples of the kinds of errors that have that lead to the above symptoms (although not necessarily to the output listed below):
1. Deleting a page item that a PL/SQL function within a page region references, without removing that reference. Mostly APEX will ignore such errors, treating the item value as null, but the difference seems to be where the item had a value in session state, and we did nothing to clear it after deleting the page item, although I suspect that this isn't the whole story, as this scenario doesn't predictably lead to the problem we're occasionally seeing.
2. Returning SQL from a PL/SQL function that did not correspond either with the report template in use (for example dummy SQL (within an error block) that doesn't match the report template we're using (for example a column needed for conditional row formatting is missing)), or with the report definition (numbers and attributes of columns displayed - sorry I can't be very specific on this score, but in these cases deleting and recreating the report region with the same source has cured it).
3. Other errors in the region PL/SQL source, such as referring to the wrong package when declaring a type, causing a type mismatch error.
The latest page we had this problem with was returning SQL from a packaged PL/SQL function, in which creating a SQL block had thrown a 'character string buffer too small' error, and returned a dummy SQL string that did not contain a header column referenced in the report template, although some supposition has gone into that, as the focus was more on fixing the problem than pinning down its exact cause.
The Apache logs don't tell us a great deal, other than that the server is in a great deal of trouble. There is nothing to indicate the start of the problem, but after a while we gets lots of entries like this:
[<date/time>] [warn] [client <ip>] mod_plsql: Long running URL [pls/htmldb/wwv_flow.accept] timed out
Later we get lots of:
[<date/time>] [error] [client <ip>] [ecid: 1248707261:<ip>:24047:0:1,0] mod_plsql: /pls/htmldb/f HTTP-503 ORA-3113
And a few:
[<date/time>] [warn] [client <ip>] [ecid: 1248707264:<ip>:24081:0:1,0] mod_plsql: DMS Logging: Unable to read data from <Apache path>/Apache/modplsql/cache/modplsql.lck
Plus a smattering of:
[<date/time>] [error] [client <ip>] [ecid: 1248707384:<ip>:25588:0:6710,0] mod_plsql: Database (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=<server name>)(PORT=1530)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=<service>))) Failed (time=10190ms rc=-1 ORA-1013)

[<date/time>] [warn] [client <ip>] [ecid: 1248707384:<ip>:25588:0:6710,0] mod_plsql: Discarded pooled connection (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=<server name>)(PORT=1530)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=<service>))) because of ping failure
On the database side, it's difficult for us to figure out what's happening, but it looks like APEX is trying to run an error-handling routine, which makes sense, but it does appear to be locked into a try-fail-retry cycle. We loaded an APEX page that had previously exhibited those symptoms with the DBAs running a trace, and the highlights of the TKPROF output were:
This SQL: SELECT MESSAGE_TEXT, DECODE(MESSAGE_LANGUAGE,LOWER(NVL(:B3 ,:B2 )),1,0)
MESSAGE_ORDER
FROM
WWV_FLOW_MESSAGES$ WHERE SECURITY_GROUP_ID = 10 AND (MESSAGE_LANGUAGE =
LOWER(NVL(:B3 ,:B2 )) OR MESSAGE_LANGUAGE = LOWER(SUBSTR(NVL(:B3 ,:B2 ),1,2)
)) AND NAME = UPPER(:B1 ) ORDER BY 2 DESC
was run approx 45,000 times, returning no rows.
This SQL: SELECT MESSAGE_TEXT, DECODE(MESSAGE_LANGUAGE,LOWER(NVL(:B5 ,:B4 )),1,0)
MESSAGE_ORDER
FROM
WWV_FLOW_MESSAGES$ WHERE FLOW_ID = NVL(:B7 , :B6 ) AND (MESSAGE_LANGUAGE =
LOWER(NVL(:B5 ,:B4 )) OR MESSAGE_LANGUAGE = LOWER(SUBSTR(NVL(:B5 ,:B4 ),1,2)
)) AND SECURITY_GROUP_ID = DECODE(NVL(:B2 ,0),0,:B3 ,:B2 ) AND NAME =
UPPER(:B1 ) ORDER BY 2 DESC
was also run approx 45,000 times, returning no rows.
This SQL: SELECT M.MESSAGE_TEXT
FROM
WWV_FLOW_MESSAGES$ M, WWV_FLOWS F WHERE M.NAME = UPPER(:B2 ) AND
M.MESSAGE_LANGUAGE = F.FLOW_LANGUAGE AND F.ID = :B1 AND M.SECURITY_GROUP_ID
= 10
was also run approx 45,000 times, returning no rows.
This SQL: SELECT DECODE(MESSAGE_LANGUAGE,'en-us',0,1) WEIGHT, MESSAGE_TEXT
FROM
WWV_FLOW_MESSAGES$ WHERE NAME = UPPER(:B1 ) AND SECURITY_GROUP_ID = 10 ORDER
BY 1 ASC
was also run approx 45,000 times, returning 1 row per execution.
This SQL: SELECT PLUG_SOURCE
FROM
WWV_FLOW_PAGE_PLUGS WHERE ID = :B1
was run nearly 13,000 times, returning 1 row per execution.
This SQL: SELECT USER_ID
FROM
SYS.ALL_USERS WHERE USERNAME = UPPER(:B1 )
was run nearly 6,500 times, returning no rows.
This SQL: SELECT MESSAGE
FROM
WWV_FLOW_DEBUG WHERE ID = :B1 ORDER BY SEQ
was also run nearly 6,500 times, returning no rows.
And so it goes on. Later we have:
SELECT ID, CURRENT_TAB, CURRENT_TAB_FONT_ATTR, NON_CURRENT_TAB,
NON_CURRENT_TAB_FONT_ATTR, CURRENT_IMAGE_TAB, NON_CURRENT_IMAGE_TAB,
TOP_CURRENT_TAB, TOP_CURRENT_TAB_FONT_ATTR, TOP_NON_CURRENT_TAB,
TOP_NON_CURRENT_TAB_FONT_ATTR, HEADER_TEMPLATE, BOX, FOOTER_TEMPLATE,
NAVIGATION_BAR, NAVBAR_ENTRY, SUCCESS_MESSAGE, BODY_TITLE, MESSAGE,
TABLE_BGCOLOR, TABLE_CATTRIBUTES, REGION_TABLE_CATTRIBUTES, HEADING_BGCOLOR,
FONT_SIZE, FONT_FACE, APP_TAB_BEFORE_TABS, APP_TAB_CURRENT_TAB,
APP_TAB_NON_CURRENT_TAB, APP_TAB_AFTER_TABS, NVL(DEFAULT_BUTTON_POSITION,
'TOP') DEFAULT_BUTTON_POSITION
FROM
WWV_FLOW_TEMPLATES WHERE ID = :B1
executing nearly 6,500 times and returning 1 row per execution.
and the same for this SQL: SELECT ERROR_PAGE_TEMPLATE
FROM
WWV_FLOW_TEMPLATES WHERE ID = NVL(:B3 ,NVL(:B2 ,:B1 ))
Later we have some very obscure-looking data dictionary lookups.
I'd be interested to know if anyone has any thoughts on what might be occurring, or what other information I should obtain to provide clues as to what is going wrong.
Many thanks for your help.

How to get the addition DML Error information when using PL/SQL?
Given the following statements:
drop table bob;
create table bob
col1 number(6,2),
col2 number(6,2) not null
insert into bob(col1, col2) values (123.12, null);
insert into bob(col1, col2) values (123.12, 12345.12);
commit;
I get different behavior from Oracle error messages.
Here is the sample output:
Table dropped.
Table created.
insert into bob(col1, col2) values (123.12, null)
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("BOB"."COL2")
insert into bob(col1, col2) values (123.12, 12345.12)
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01438: value larger than specified precision allows for this column
Commit complete.
Note that in the first error (1400) the generated error message contains the name of the problematic column ("BOB"."COL2"). Also note that in the regurgitated statement the error pointer (*) is at the far left. In this case, the regurgitated statement is of no use to me because the error message identifies the culprit column.
However, in the second error (1438) the generated error message is very generic and does NOT indicate the problematic column. In addition, in this case the error pointer (*) of the regurgitated statement has moved to point to the troublesome column. In this case, I must use BOTH the error message and the regurgitated statement to completely understand the problem.
This difference in how error messages are constructed causes difficulty within PL/SQL. If PL/SQL happens to generate a 1400 error message, then simply capturing the error message and giving it to the user provides enough information for him/her to solve the problem. However, if a 1438 error is generated then the resulting error message has insufficient information for the user to pursue the problem.
So my question is, within PL/SQL do you know how to get your hands on Oracle's regurgitated statements so that they can be presented to the user to assisted him/her in problem resolution?
Thanks.I don't think it's that easy. Notice that if you put the insert into an actual pl/sql block, you don't get the correct column pointer anymore.
BEGIN insert into bob(col1, col2) values (123.12, 12345.12); END;

S S ManneHi Manne,
As your description, you come across an error when trying to install SQL Server 2008 express Service Pack 1 on windows XP Service Pack 3 machine. From your error log, I get the error(unable to read registry value). As my analysis, the issue could be due
to that your account doesn't have access to registry. Below are the recommendations for troubleshooting the issue.
1. Make sure that you log in as an administrator of the machine.
2. Please follow the steps below to make sure that you have granted the right permission to registry.
a. Located HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server in registry.
b. Right click and go to Permission, then you could see user accounts or groups. If your user account is not in the list, you could click Add to add your account there.
c. Select your account and Click on Advance.
d. Check on both check box ('Include inheritable permissions from this object's parent'.
and 'Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object'), click OK.
e. Click OK again.

Michelle Li -

adilIf you've run out of disk space for your SQL databases then of course you'll get errors. Fix SQL then look to see if you're still getting errors.

Error in Connecting to MS SQL 2005 via JDBC Driver
Here's the setup
CF MX7 resides on a centOS wid Apache 2.0 webserver box.
I need to established a datasource connection between the
Coldfusion server and a MSSQL 2005 Express+SP1 database sitting on
a remote XP wid SP2 setup.
I've also downloaded and installed on the /lib folder of the
CFMX7 server the corresponding JDBC drivers (versions 1.1 and 1.0)
for the MS SQL server.
The thing is, this problem always occurs:
Connection verification failed for data source:
datasourcename
java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for
JDBC]Error establishing socket.
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException:
[Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC]Error establishing
socket.
The datasource connection info is as follows:
CF Datasource Name: datasourcename_JDBCdriver
JDBC URL:
jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://192.168.0.47:1433;DatabaseName=nameofdatabase
Driver Class: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
Driver Name: mssql2005
Username: sa
Password: userdefinedpassword
I've already tried these settings:
* Enabled mix mode of authentication under the SQL server
* Affix a /MSSQLSERVER instance name on the jdbc url setting
"jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://192.168.0.47\MSSQLSERVER:1433;DatabaseName=nameofdatabase"
but a different error had occured:
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException:
[Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC]The requested instance
is either invalid or not running.
so i remove it since its only an optional setting
* Configured the SQL 2005 Express, under the SQL Server
Configuration Manager, to listen to protocol TCP/IP under port 1433
(this is the ONLY ENABLE protocol)
I've checked using Telnet and netstat and the SQL service is
normally listening to the said port.
* Disabled windows firewall under XP (came with SP2)
and even tried using other JDBC drivers such as:
* macromedia drivers
* jtds driver
but to no avail.
Is the problem still within the MS SQL 2005 Express wid
XP+SP2 box or a connecting issue on the Cf server under the
centOS/Apache machine?
A little help would do wonders just about now.I had the same problem, but do not have express version. In
the configuration manger, I viewed the properties of the enabled
tcp/ip protocol. On the IP addresses tab, I found that though the
IPs were enabled, the drop down beside active was no. I changed all
to yes, applied it and restarted my instance. Then in the cf
datasource I left the port blank and everything worked. -
This is driving me nuts!
I am getting this error from OWB during a mapping process.
I have checked the input data and it looks fine.
The run time audit browser just lists all of the steps but does not make it clear which one failed. Is it the last one which is shown (does not have HIDE as selection link.)
I also tried to determine which row was causing the problem and followed the instructions at http://www.nicholasgoodman.com/bt/blog/2005/07/, but no row_id was recorded in the views. In actual fact there wasn't very much audit info other than that the mapping ran and was complete (even though it failed).
In the error message section it has, in order
Map Step - blank
Rowkey - 35204435256
Severity - X
Error Message - ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: Bulk Bind: Truncated Bind
Object Name - N/A
Object Column - *
From the PL/SQL error I thought it may be trying to insert into a data field that was too small, but all of the columns that are used are full of data of length shorter than all of the target tables.
I have even started running the cursors in the generated PLSQL but I don't get the error by doing this.
Thanks in advance for any tips at all.Thanks for the response.
I managed to work it out and it had to do with the selection criteria of one of the filters.
For anyone else facing this error, check to see if any of the rows being inserted has the same key/identifier as some existing in the target table. If so add an extra condition to the where clause.
This worked for me. -

Dear Friends
I am getting this FRM-99999 ERRORE 408 OCCURRED FRM-40655 SQL ERROR FORCED ROLLBACK CLEAR FROM AND RE-ENTER TRANACTION.
FRM-40512 ORACLE ERROR UNABLE TO ISSUE SAVE POINT COMAND.
I am calling the form using the following script :
:global.command_line := 'C:\SALES\NEW_ITEMS.FMX' ;
CALL_FORM(:global.command_line);
go_block('COP_ORDER_DETAILS');
go_record(:global.l_n_curr_rec2);
:COP_ORDER_DETAILS.ITEM_CODE :=:GLOBAL.ITEM_CODE_VAR;
:COP_ORDER_DETAILS.COLOR := :GLOBAL.COLOR_CODE ;
:COP_ORDER_DETAILS.SHAPE_CODE := :GLOBAL.SHAPE_CODE ;
:COP_ORDER_DETAILS.DELIVERY_QUANTITY := :GLOBAL.QTY ;
:COP_ORDER_DETAILS.VOLUME := :GLOBAL.VOLUME;
It works fine for one record, when I try to create another record by calling the called form it gives the above messages.
Waiting for your valuable replay.
Best regards
JamilThis happens due to dead lock situation
To avoid this problem, add NOWAIT option to the UPDATE and DELETE statements, which returns ORA-00054 error, trap this error and display user defined message like 'The record is being accessed and try after some time'.
This even improves the performance
because no process waits for the locks preventing dead locks.
If it is due to the UPDATE's or DELETE's with base table blocks in the form, in the PRE-UPDATE and PRE-DELETE triggers write SELECT statements to select the particular row with FOR UPDATE NO WAIT option. Handle by trapping the ORA-00054 error -
Validation Error - An error occured executing the provided SQL Command
Hi All,
I am new to using SQL Server in general (2008 R2) and am trying to change the source location for multiple packages in order to obtain our data from a more reliable environment.
I have created a copy of the target database where the data will be loaded, amended the source and target connection managers and ran through the packages to ensure they work, which many do.
We are changing the source from a local server to a cloud based server and when running a package that literally truncates target table, selects * from source, and inserts data to target I get a validation error "An error occurred executing the provided
SQL Command "Select *...." The connection has been disabled" and "component ADO NET Source failed validation and returned validation status "VS_ISBROKEN"".
The table structure from the 2 sources is the same and I have even recreated the data flow tasks to ensure the metadata has updated. When selecting 100 rows or even 5,000,000 rows from source the package runs fine but will fail as above
when selecting &* (around 9.5 million rows).
I'm not sure if this is due to the new data source being web based or if it could be some erroneous data in the table that isn't being selected when limiting to 5 milling rows etc.
I have spend hours trying to figure out what the issue could be (doesn't help being new to SQL Server) so any guidance would be hugely appreciated!!!
Thanks,
Louis.Hi All,
Unfortunately I don't believe any of the above are the issues.
Our current working project/packages run via an SQL agent job daily. To test and ensure the package in question ran outside of the agent WITHOUT changing the ADO NET Source I exported the package (that runs daily) and ran it locally,
to which it failed.
I then edited the select statement from 'select * from [table]' to 'select top(100) from [table] to which it ran without error.
So in summary:
Package will run fine if run as part of the agent job (with multiple other packages)
Package will not run from File System when selecting * from the source table
Package will run from File System when selecting limited rows
Could this be something to do with permissions? The errors I get are:
An error occurred executing the provided SQL command: "select * from [table]". The connection has been disabled.
"component" ADO NET Source"(396") failed validation and returned validation status "VS_ISBROKEN".
Thanks,
Louis. -
Hello I developed a small applicaion for insert data into database.but i am getting exception in the server like this.
app failed due to java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC driver for Oracle][Oracle]ORA-01401: inserted value too large for column
And the code is given below..
import java.io.*;
import java.sql.*;
import javax.servlet.*;
import javax.servlet.http.*;
public class Jdbc1 extends HttpServlet
public void service(HttpServletRequest request,HttpServletResponse response)throws ServletException,IOException
PrintWriter out=response.getWriter();
String no=request.getParameter("no");
String name=request.getParameter("name");
String age=request.getParameter("age");
try
System.out.println("1");
Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
System.out.println("2");
Connection con=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:odbc:rakesh","scott","tiger");
System.out.println("3");
Statement st=con.createStatement();
System.out.println("4");
st.executeUpdate("INSERT INTO ind VALUES('+no+','+name+','+age+')" );
con.commit();
con.close();
catch(Exception e)
System.out.println(" app failed due to "+e);
}Please give solution for this....Hello sir..
thanks for ur reply...
for oracle 10g -----> we use XE as datasourse
name..What?
now i am using oracle 8i...Not so from the code you posted. Didn't I see "jdbc:odbc:..." in your first post?
so what should i
write...in the datasourse name...that means.......
Connection
con=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@loc
alhost:1521:????????","scott","tiger");Do you really use the default username and password?
What should i write in place of ?????????..The name of the database you wish to connect to, of course.
Do you have your tnsnames.ora set up properly? Did you install this database?
None of this has ANYTHING to do with the error you posted, of course. Fix that first and then worry about the thin driver. At least it appears that the code you posted managed to connect to the database.
