Error code 0xe0ef0003, No "BOOTMGR" after a system restore, no disc/self system.

So ... my HP Pavilion dv7 NB, that I've owned just a mere two days shy of three years, decided to get extremely lazy late last night. I have malware programs in place, strong security, etc. but I suppose that something might have slipped in ... but unlikely because of the issue I'm having. Which is the same issue that, well, everyone else is having! I do use my PC a lot so no big deal. Since I did everything that is suggested to do prior to an extreme act like a system restore I figured that I had no choice but to do a restore and that all will be well. Saved what images, music and a couple of other things that are important to me onto a disc and started to wipe things clean. I've done this before on my desktop ... which I've had since 2004 (Sony VAIO VGCRB42G) and is still going strong even though it's considered a "relic" at this point. I do take very good care of my things ... So after saving what I wanted I began what I thought was going to be a fairly short process. That started last night. 24 hours and hundreds of posts later I am no closer to figuring out what is going on. Maybe the OS? Microsoft and W7 really isn't ALL that ... it's good but not great by any means. Or could it be the components? Built by HP ... or FOR HP over seas, maybe? Regardless, my experience with HP products lately has been less than stellar. And after reading reams of the same issues that others and I share, with no cure for the elusive 0xe0ef0003/No BOOTMGR bug, it seems that my actions of a mere 6 months ago were spot on .... stop buying HP products.
There was a time when HP was king. They had great products, built right in my own backyard. Heck, my mom used to work for Fairchild. Who probably made some of the components that HP used in their products ... I think ... right here in the good ol' U.S. of A. I used to deliver skids and skids of freight to HP way back when. Now their campuses look like ghost towns. Yet there was a recent major ad campaign and their brand is still taking up shelf space at Fry's on Durham Rd. ... uhh, 'scuse me, Automall  ...
I've read a number of "Solved!" messages to which none helped me. But I do appreciate this community for trying ... sorta. Too many of these 'Solved!" messages included the suggestion of purchasing a restore disc, HD or something else. A recovery/restore disc ... something that was always included for free when one bought a new PC. Something that I got with my VAIO. Something that I've only needed to use once with my old a$$ VAIO! I am amazed that my ancient relic of a desktop outlasted my NB by 6+years ... and still going.
So after searching high and low and employing every other suggestion that I haven't tried already, all one of them, that doesn't require me spending more money I've resigned myself to accepting that if I want to be "mobile" with my PCing ... I'll have to buy another. Brand. Don't get me wrong, I love to spend money and I would gladly spend the extra dough if my NB was a little older but since it's so young and already needs a "heart transplant" I'd say the outlook for the rest of it's existence is pretty short and dismal anyway. So I'll just be "putting her down" ...
I'd like to thank you for allowing me the space to rant a little. Please be kind in your responses. I'm not really looking for help to fix my NB. I consider her dead. There are plenty of posts with folks who have the exact same issue. A ton. Mega tons! Chock full of replies and answers on this issue already. Do a search for yourself if you don't believe me! No, I just thought that maybe a muckety muck might be listening. I doubt it but ya never know!
As I am typing this up on my desktop I can't help but notice that I still have two pieces of HP product that I'm still employing: The wireless keyboard and mouse that I'm using at this moment. I sure do hope they don't burn up under my hands before I hit "Post"!

I accidentally deleted my recovery partition and tried to use the recovery discs I made to restore the recovery partition.  However, after following all on screen instructions I get the following error: Recovery Manager could not restore your computer using the factory image.  Please contact HP support.  Error code: 0xe0ef0003 I have an HP Pavilion dv6-1375dx p/n: vm220ua#aba Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit I have tried using a retail copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and it installs just fine... but I would like to have my computer back to original factory settings.  I was wondering if I should order a new set of recovery discs, would help.  I have not made any hardware changes.  I noticed after researching the error code here in the forum, that this is a known issue and I was wondering if HP plans to put out a fix to correct the error or what will be done for the consumer.

For the time being you can use a retail copy of the default operating system which you indicated as being, Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium.  However note that drivers and or software that originally shipped with the notebook will not be present as they are exclusively licensed to HP for your HP notebook.  If you wish to obtain the default software titles, and restore your computer to original factory settings I strongly suggest you visit the support site and have it auto detect your notebook so you can in turn order a new set of recovery media.  Do not fear this as a resolution, since it is common for self made recovery discs to go bad.  I personally didn't think it would help, but after ordering an actual set of recovery discs I was very happy to see that it solved my problem.  If you should need further assistance, you can send me a private message.  Until next time, I hope my advice answers your concern.  For security reasons, I would also advise against revealing your operating system's product key or your product serial in an open forum. Order Recovery Discs for Windows 7, Vista, or XP

    Error 9
This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if the device is manually disconnected during the restore process. This issue can be resolved by performing USB troubleshooting, using a different USB dock-connector cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.

The web hosts have tried many things, have had cpanel techs check the server and even set up a new ssl certificate to try and resolve the problem with no luck.
Researching the internet shows that people have faced this issue when upgrading Firefox or with certain AntiVirus software conflicts.
However I can't tell all FF visitors to start altering their config files in order to be able to visit my site.
I don't understand how I didn't have this issue prior to the migration but now something has changed that no one knows how to resolve.
For reference: I am using FF 28.0 and I am not experiencing this SSL error on any other site other than my own since the migration.
Does anyone have any information on what the web host may be able to do to fix this SSL issue that only occurs for FireFox users?
Thank you for any suggestions you may be able to offer.

Still experiencing this problem and hoping someone may have some ideas to try on the server.

  • Dealing with error code 53 on i-phone 6 , tried restoring but it stops 1/2 way due to unecpected error 53

Doing some research I found that there are many complaints that have to do with error code 53, mine happened with my new i-phone 6+ during an update and restore process. The bar below the apple during on my screen during the update filled in 1/2 way and then the stopped telling me on my MAC-BOOK "unable to update i-phone due to unexpected error 53". And the phone now is stuck with the screen showing that a cable needs to be plugged in and connected to i-tunes.

    Thank you.

    Greetings gillisfrompasadena,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help with your device. You may want to consider restoring your device to factory settings to adress the issue:
If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    Use recovery mode
You might need to use recovery mode to restore your device in these cases:
iTunes doesn't recognize your device or says it's in recovery mode.
You see the Apple logo onscreen for several minutes with no progress bar.
You see the Connect to iTunes screen.
Learn what to do if you see the progress bar onscreen for several minutes.
To put your device into recovery mode, follow these steps:
Turn off your device and leave it off.
Plug in your device's USB cable to a computer with iTunes.
Hold down the Home button on your device as you connect the USB cable. Keep holding down the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
When you see this screen, release the Home button. If you don't see this screen, try steps 1 through 3 again.
When your device is connected, iTunes will open. You'll see a message saying that iTunes has detected an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch in recovery mode.
Use iTunes to restore your device. Restoring in recovery mode will erase your device. If you previously synced with iTunes or iCloud, you might be able to restore from your backup.
    Get more help
Learn what to do if you don't see your device in iTunes for OS X, or in iTunes for Windows.
If you put your device into recovery mode by mistake, restart it. Or you can wait 15 minutes and your device will exit recovery mode by itself.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,

  • Where to find System Restore physical disc replacement?

Alright so I got an older model Notebook/Tablet PC and Tried Windows 8 on it, since Win8 is really App Intense and set up for Touch Screen type interface and all that.
Well... fingerprint reader and lots of other things simply don't work. Tried all the work arounds I could as well and it's just a no-go.  So I figured "hey let's use that fancy Restore Drive"
Well... restart PC, hit F11 and.. nothing happens. It just boots normally.
So I got into bios and extend the time, thinking it didn't catch, and then try again... and again.. and again....
No Luck... Curious, I open up the D:/ and there is only 1 file seen....
    &drvmig&     1Kb in size...
But the D:/ says it uses up over 40Mb.... so that's.. highly unusual.
Since I didn't set up a Windows Vista/Windows 8 Dual Boot...   I am stuck on 8, with a mostly non-working system.  Even the wifi is having problems. (Had to wait and get home to the Desktop to write this)
Anyway.... to sum up the story... I have been trying to find the "restore Your System" disc the paper it came with was referring to - since the Discless option is apparently a No Go (unless maybe someone else has something to try?)
The paper says I can order a replacement disc blah blah.  I know it's  a few years old and all - but the discs have got to still be around.  I have to have my Wacom Drivers fully functional - as well as the fingerprint scanner (which appears to not want to install at all - even after multiple tries.)
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    EDIT:.
Tried anyway - it did nothing. It booted as if I had not changed a thing.
It doesn't appear that there is a order option either, HP support is terrible, worse then I had ever imagined.  They should be ashamed of themselves for cutting so many corners.
The Tablet I purchased is a known defective system.  It's design has many flaws that cause it to fail usually within 1 year and 2 months of use.  Sometimes sooner given climates.
HP refused to make it a public known thing and refused to give it a recall - instead they keep blaming it on other things and never getting the issue resolved.
I expected 4 years after the last models were made - they would at least acknowledge this problem - at least fess up to it.   This is not the case.
I came to the Support forums to see if my problem could be fixed.  HP apparently doesn't care at all.
I will move on to illegal ways to settle my problem - since HP doesn't care about my system anyway, as well as take the chance -every chance I get - to notify everyone interested in a HP to simply Not buy instead.     We'll go Dell or Toshiba depending on our needs.
HP certainly needs to be shut down.   Bad products, bad support, and skirting around solutions so fingers won't be pointed at them for making a mistake.
Mistakes happen, HP.    What makes other companies so good compared to you - is they fess up to the mistakes and try to make it better for those effected by them.  This doesn't mean giving away millions of dollars - simply stating "We messed up,  but here is how you can fix the problem once and for all" - is all that is needed.
In my particular model of Tablet, there is some sort of "fuzzy carpet" on one of the die, and the GPU has a thick thermal pad connecting it to the heatsink.  These are the first problems.     Replace the thermal pad witha  1mm or 1.2mm thick pure copper plate, and use some good thermal grease such as arctic silver 5 on both of it's sides.  If you want it really secure- use some high temperature silicone caulk around it's edges like a frame so it bonds it in place and won't slip.  Replace the carpet with new grease as well, and your connections to the heatsink should be perfect.
Drops temperatures up to around 30C.   Since the system has been known to hit over 100C frequently - and cause irreverseable damage - dropping 30C is a major victory.
I want you to keep in mind this "fix" requires almost No knowlege of computers, around $8 in supplies to buy everything (with shipping and handling and inflated ebay prices), and less than 1 hour of work to do.
So why, exactly, couldn't HP fix their own models 4 years ago?  It was simply the thermal pads they used! They didn't remove enough heat, and actually cuased heat build up on top of the CPU and GPU!  Copper to Copper connection allowed the heat to flow up and out of the system as it was intended, and solved overheating once and for all!
Microsoft had a similar issue with their original Xbox360's, The RROD.  The heating problem was fixed by - you guessed it - fixing the spacing between the GPU and CPU's contact to the heat sinks.  This was another "1mm" fix.
Obviously quality control slipped in both cases - however Microsoft is still booming because they flat out replaced the defective systems (sometimes with brand new systems depending on when you did it) and said "we are sorry."
HP however, has not.  This is why you fail HP. This is why people are upset.  If there wasn't a problem - we wouldn't be finding ways to modify the systems to fix them.  But still.. you won't admit there are problems that YOU over looked in manufacturing.
Confess you made a mistake.   At this point in time (4+ years after the model was released) No one is going to care much if they can't get replacements.  That's what Ebay is for.  You won't be out money. You will simply do what you have needed to do the entire time- which will HELP your customers stay loyal.
HPs new motto should be "Go cheap, and don't care, we do."

  • Error code 6 & media offline & after effect warning errors.

Increasingly I am getting the attached error messages when I try to open files. (mostly .psd and .ind files)
1.) It often says I don’t have permission to open the file, it is not the right type of file, or the file doesn’t exist... none of which are true.
The files always work if I copy them locally and open them from my harddrive.
    2.) "media offline" error.
    3.) after effects warning error.
    Help needed. Thx.

    Hi Saif,
You might get several issues, if you are directly opening files from the server or a network location, to your machine and editing them. You might also get issue while saving then to the server. I think your issue is one of them.
This is because, several thing comes into picture while you are opening, editing, saving files over the network. You may face some network issues, firewall issues and mostly permissions issues.
So, adobe always recommends to save the file locally on the machine first and then perform editting and saving operations. once you are done, you can copy it to the network.
Check the below article just for reference.
