Error-handling strategy to get a list of errors

I read about error management and I try now to throw errors in my application when something is wrong.
At some point, my application checks the state of an object. It must follow some rules, and I want to know if the rules are broken. If I throw an Error as soon as I find something wrong, I won't get all the errors listed but just the first.
I want to be able to tell the user, "you have to correct this, and that, and that" (like FlashBuilder does when you have compilation errors), not just "correct this and check again, there may be another error".
In this case, do you think it's possible/preferable to throw Error ? Or just register errors and return false when I found at least one error ?

Throwing interrupts processing, so you should build up a list of problems.

  • Error handling workflow not getting triggered

    Hi all,
    I'm creating a outbound IDoc. And for error handling workflow.. I created a organization structure in PPOME and assigned users. I gave this position number thus created in the partner profile in post processing permitted agent tab.
    But when the Idoc is in error, this is not coming to my inbox.
    Can someone please help me with this.. and let me know what went wrong.
    Thanks in advance.

    Here you need to be careful,
    if the agent assignment is not maintained properly, there may be a chance everyone in the organization will get the item.
    I hope you have created a single workitem for error handling. goto additional data-> agent assignment-> maintain. make sure the attribute is defined as general forwarding allowed. or you maintain the role/position/user/whatever.as the possible agents. still you dont get the result, debugging the default rule in the task ->default rule -> agent.
    hope this helps.

  • Error handling strategy

    It seems that many functions in the SDK have underdocumented return codes in error situations. For example, take LrFileUtils.createAllDirectories(). The documentation says:
    Return value: (Boolean) True if any parent directory was created; false if all parents already existed.
    Ok, possibly useful info, but is there a value that says whether the directory creation itself succeeded or failed? I've pored over the doc and by now I don't think I've missed anything. There are plenty of other functions that don't seem clear in that regard. How are other developers doing error handling?

    Eric, good point. Although I only threw out that one function as an example. If I want something robust right now, it seems I'll want to write wrapper functions for many APIs that do this. For instance, copy() and move() as well.
    You say "in the meantime". Can you clarify: does that mean that the APIs actually don't return error codes/messages or that they do but simply aren't documented completely?

    Hi,
    Try the following steps:
    1. Check windows updates.
    2. Try the Microsoft Fix it in this kb to remove previous install completely:

  • XI Error Handling options

    Hello,
    Can anyone guide me on what are the options available for XI monitoring and error handling..for the support strategy.. and some URL and links on those will be helpful.
    For instance ALERTS can be used,... or Regular Monitoring in SXMB_Moni (this is very crude for client)
    Like that...
    I just want to show the options to Customer.

  • Exit from CIN within Error Handling Sub-Function

    I have a CIN which has the code divided betwee the CINRun() function, a number of other functions & a #included .C file. I want to put some error handling into my CIN, so if an error occurs I want execution to return from the CIN to LabVIEW immediately... however, my error handling is currently done in one of the other functions, and may be called from CINRun,
    functions, or the #included .C file. Is there any neat/handy/nice way of universally/globally breaking out of or bombing out of the CIN if the error handling code gets called?

    You seem to want to do structured ecxeption handling. This however is something only really supported by C++ and other object oriented languages. Standard C can do that only with quite some header macro magic and in general is done in a way, patented by Borland, if I remember correctly. To make things more complicated, writing CINs in C++ is not supported by LabVIEW and requires quite some knowledge about your specific compiler environment and linker to get it right on your own, and no NI won't support C++ creation of CINs.
    You will prabably have to modify your C code quite a bit to get it the way you want. Considering that you will have to make more or less involved changes to your C code anyhow, I would recommend you look into creating a shared library instead and calling that through the Call Library Node. CINs are from the past and support for them will be getting less and less with time as it adds almost no advantages to shared libraries anymore and has some disadvantages in comparison, such as proprietary solution, difficult to support and possible compatibility issues in the future.

  • Error handling in Portal standard forms

    I have a customer who needs to validate input on a Form Based on a Table (standard component). They have tried code, as shown below, as a PLSQL handler on a Save button. This example can obviously be solved with JavaScript validation on the client, but they have similar requirements for validation on DB level.
    If procedure call 1) in the if statement is used, nothing happens. If procedure call 2) is used, it is executed in a new page as a standard error Oracle Portal error message.
    declare
    v_sender VARCHAR2(1000);
    v_sender_id NUMBER;
    begin
    v_sender := p_session.get_value_as_VARCHAR2(
    p_block_name => 'DEFAULT',
    p_attribute_name => 'A_SENDER');
    v_sender_id := p_session.get_value_as_NUMBER(
    p_block_name => 'DEFAULT',
    p_attribute_name => 'A_SENDER_ID');
    insert into hd (number, text) values (hd_seq.nextval,
    'step 3 v_sender = ' || v_sender ||
    ' v_sender_id = ' || v_sender_id);
    if v_sender_id >= 100 then
    1) Custom error handling, does not display:
    show_error('Error message');
    2) Error handling is displayed, but as a standard error:
    raise_application_error(-20000, 'SenderID must be smaller than 100.');
    else
    doInsert;
    end if;
    end;
    The customer has two questions:
    Why does the custom procedure in 1) "show_error" not execute, and if it does, why does it not display? show_error works and the if statement is entered.
    Is it possible to take control of Portals error handling on standard components (forms etc.), to show custom error messages with the style used on the component/page instead of the standard Error: ORA- ....etc. as Portal displays it?
    Customer needs reply asap. Please reply directly. Any help will be much appreciated!
    Kind regards
    Jakob Lund

    p_value => 'Sender ID must be less than 100!');
    -- return to your form with status message set
    -- and all fields filled with recent values
    return;
    end if;
    end;
    -- This point is reached only if validation is OK

  • Can error handling framework use fault policies and BPEL catch blocks

    As part of an integrated customer solution that makes substantial use of SOA Suite (including OSB, BPEL, Mediator, etc) we are in the process of designing an “Error Hospital” subsystem to expose a web service API specifically for BPEL services and/or the OSB layer to call whenever they encounter an exception which they cannot handle so that the appropriate user is notified of the error (via email) and the error is recorded (in an appropriate common fault format, with error codes elaborated into more meaningful descriptions, etc) within OEM, immediately prior to returning the exception to the caller.
    The problem we have experienced in our design is as follows:
    •     We have an error handling service to be called, inside the BPEL catch blocks, when an error occurs to notify the appropriate user, via email, that an error has occurred;
    •     We also use the error handling XML fault-policies so that we can recover from an error using OEM (via human intervention);
    •     The error service needs to be called before the process is suspended (waiting for human intervention) so the email notification and error message formatting occurs BEFORE the recovery action. Unfortunately the fault policies trigger BEFORE the error handler is able to transform the error into the appropriate format and notify the user so the error recorded is not the reformatted one and the user is never notified.
    The key question is how can a BPEL, upon catching an exception, invoke the error handling service and AFTER that send the error to OEM (and have the process suspended).
    It seems the two mechanisms "cannot play nicely together"

  • About ale error handling in workflow?

    Hi,
    can any one explian in detail ale error handling through workflow,its urgent for me.
    Regards,
    phani

    Hi Srikanth,
    follw the steps it will helpful u,
    Pre-requisites.
    It is assumed that the reader of this article has some knowledge in SAP workflow BOR objects and ALE Idoc process like process code, Partner Profile etc.
    Description
    Here, we will be discussing in details the Error handling of an Inbound Idoc through triggering an event, which in turn will be triggering a workflow attached to the workflow.
    Steps:-
    1.     Create custom BOR object with the events, Start and Stop event
    2.     Create a workflow for the error handling, like generating a notification whenever an error occurred in the Inbound Idoc.
    3.     Creation of Function Module and attachment with the Process Code
    4.     Create the settings for the Inbound Process of the Idoc through the Process Code.
    Creation of BOR objects. Go to the[http://www.****************/Tutorials/ALE/ErrorHandling/page3.htm] transaction SWO1.
    Enter a name for the Object type and click ‘CREATE’ button for creating the custom BOR object.
    Enter the details required for creating the BOR objects...
    Create the Key fields and events of the BOR object.
    For creating the Key fields place the cursor on the Key fields and Click on the Create Button
    Create events for triggering the workflow and stopping the workflow.
    For creating the event place the cursor on the EVENTS and Click the create button like Key fields.
    Create two events.
    Enter the event name description etc and proceed further to create it.
    Similarly create another event for ending the Workflow in the similar manner like that created earlier.
    Now, Generate the BOR object through the generate button
    Release the EVENTS and subsequently release the BOR object.
    After the creation of BOR object
    Create a workflow for the generation of notification whenever an error is reached in the Inbound Idoc.
    Execute the transaction SWDD.
    Click on the CREATE button for creating the workflow for error handling.
    Choose the Step type to be inserted for the notification like here we are using Send Mail option for sending a mail to the user whenever any error occurred.
    Activate the Workflow and test it whether it is working as per the requirement.
    After the successful completion it is required to attach the workflow with the event.
    Go to the Header section (Denoted by CAP).
    Go to the Start Events TAB.
    Enter the details of the event with which the workflow should be linked like the category, BOR object type and the event with which that should be linked.
    Enter here the BOR object that has been created and give the name of event created for starting the workflow.
    Click on the Binding Button for generating the binding between the event and the workflow.
    Click on the Binding Button for generating the binding between the event and the workflow.
    Generate the binding and click OK button to save the binding.
    Click on Activate / deactivate button for activating the linkage.
    After the successful linkage the following sign will appear on the workflow.....
    This shows that the workflow has been linked to the event and it will be triggered whenever that particular event will be triggered.
    After the creation and successful linkage of workflow with the event it is required it is required to generate a function module and attached it to the process code.
    Go to SE37 transaction and copy a standard process code function module to a custom one. Do no delete any parameters from the function module as the SAP standard program itself is calling this.
    In that function module do the required validation and whenever the validation fails set a standard parameter ‘WORKFLOW_RESULT’ to 9999 from within the function module, otherwise normally proceed to set the status to 53.
    After the creation of function module it is required to attach it to the process code and corresponding attached to the message type at the Partner Profile stage.
    The process code is being created through the transaction WE42
    Go to the change mode and click the New Entries button for creating new process code.
    Enter the Process Code Name, description and choose the processing type as Processing by function module. Click on the extension button of Identification.
    The details for the of the Process Code after clicking the identification button will be
    Whenever idoc arrives into the Destination system then the standard SAP triggers the Process code attached to the Message type in the partner profile. The partner profile is being maintained in the transaction WE20.
    Since, it is and inbound scenario so the message type and the corresponding process code will be maintained for the Inbound Parameters.
    Click on Create Inbound Parameters button for creating new Inbound Message type and the corresponding message type.
    Enter the process code for the corresponding message type.
    Click SAVE button for saving the changes.
    Whenever the IDOC arrives into the target system, it checks the partner profile and finds the corresponding process code. The process code is being linked with the function module through which the IDOC is required to be processed.
    Regards,
    Phani.

  • General Inquiry Regarding Error Handling with System Exec.vi

    I have a sub vi that uses the System Exec.vi to send SMS messages when triggered. I am confused as to how the error handling works and why all of the errors seem to go to the "standard error" vs the "Error out". The reason I am interested is because I am trying to interrupt the error out of another script to execute a command if error=true.
    I have intentionally created an error to test this, however it does not seem that the signal is ever being sent to the error out, only to the standard error.
    Any help/explanation as to how this works would be greatly appreciated.

    The Facebook discussion board is just a pilot and that functionality is not available yet (as to my knowledge). You will have to use the actual forum thread to add attachments. You can click the arrow just to the right of thread topic in the Facebook thread and that will take you to the ni.com/forums thread. Or you can navigate here:

  • How to handle BEA-382108 error in route error handler?

    Hi,
    I have a proxy service with error handler at route level. when any wrong inputs are given to this proxy the Biz will generate fault with error as BEA-382108
    having error message as XPATH can only be done for XML or MFL content. This is error is handled by system error handler but not by route error handler.
    Can any tell me how to handle this error in route error handler...?

    In route Error Handler.
    Add If condition and add fn:contains($fault,"BEA-382108") in the if condition, and add your code/logic that you want to implement in case of this error in IF condiiton.
    Let me know if this helps.
