Error message on PE7

I have recently upgraded from PE2 to PE7. I have also upgraded my computer from 1 to 2 MB Ram which has made a difference. The reason why I stopped using PE2 was because of frequent crashes and I reinstalled, defragmented etc and couldn't get it to work. I still encounter crashes with PE7. IN particular:-
1. When I try and unlink video from audio and delete the audio so I can add my own music. After a few clips I receive the message " Sorry a serious error has occurred that requires PE to shut down."
2. WHen I try and open projects, particularly those created in PE2. However, this does not happen all the time. This morning I tried to open a project I made. One copy triggered the error message "Sorry a serious error has occurred that requires PE to shut down." Another copy of the same project that I had saved under the "save a copy" function in PE opened ok.
How can I overcome this?
Many thanks
Erika

Erika,
Back to the drive letter aspect. If you have been building Projects with floating drive letters on the same external -
b STOP!
You will want to consider which letter you assign. The reason for this is, given your examples, some Projects will look for F:\ and some will look for G:\. You will get things correct for, say the Projects referencing F:\, but will have to re-Link the Assets from the others, that reference G:\. I'd look at these Projects, and choose the drive letter that is referenced in the most of these.
PE is pretty smart with regards to Assets. Depending on the Project's folder structure, it will ask you to locate the first Asset. When you do, by navigating a typical Windows' file dialog box. All Assets in that Project in that folder will automatically link. Where the folder structure changes, you'll need to navigate to that sub-folder. Again, PE will link to all in that folder. And on, and on. This can be tedious, so plan your action first.
If, for instance, only your old Projects reference F:\, and your new Projects reference G:\, then go with G:\, knowing that if you open any of those older Projects, you will need to re-link, before you can work with the Assets in that Project. Please plan ahead.
One note: re-linking is easier, when you Open a Project. One could just choose Offline All to get the Project Open. If you do this, the re-linking can be done from the Project Panel. If you do choose Offline All, then do a Save_As for your Project. You'd much rather re-link from the initial pop-up, rather than from the Project Panel. This will save you a few clicks per Asset and will progress automatically. In Project Panel, you'll have to go down the list, and do it manually. If you just do Save, with Assets Offline, then you have only one choice - manually re-linking from the Project Panel. Avoid having to do so, to save mouse clicks.
When you acquire your next external HDD, after you have set it up (possibly NTFS instead of FAT-32), then set its drive letter in the OS. I go backward down the alphabet, as I have one machine with a ton of internal HDD's. My Maxtor 2TB units are: Z:\, Y:\, X:\, W:\, V:\ and U:\. This allows me to plug them into each of my computers, and not get in the way of any machine's internal drive letters.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • PE7 (& 8) error message missing adobepsl.dll when writing to disc

I have been using PE7 exclusively even though I purchased PE8 since it didn't work on my Windows 7 64 bit laptop.  I edited a video without any problems like usual and when I went to write it to a disc, it wouldn't write and I got an error message that it was missing or error occurred in adopepsl.dll.  This was on the Windows 7 laptop.  I then moved the files to a Vista laptop and tried it there but got the same error message.  I read a lot of forums and articles here and so I created a new user specifically for PE8  on the Windows 7 laptop and installed PE8.  I tried to write the project to the DVD and once again I got the same message.  As a last resort, I created a new user on my XP desktop and installed PE7 since I knew that I had successfully worked with that one for almost 2 years without a hitch.  I got the same error message on the XP:
AppName: adobe premiere elements.exe AppVer: 7.0.0.0 ModName: adobepsl.dll
    ModVer: 11.0.0.1656 Offset: 000e0c83
Since it was three different computers and three different systems and I never had problems before either laptop before, I am extremely confused as to why all three separate computers would be missing the same exact file and get the same error message.  I installed them directly from the DVD that I purchased new and had used it to install onto the laptops when I intially started using the program and then when I purchased the second (windows 7) laptop.  And then to have it also happen with the PE8, which was also bought new but never used since it wasn't working on the Windows 7 laptop.  (No, I did not update it since I went back to the PE7 because I knew that worked and I was in the middle of another project at the time and didn't want to jeopardize my project or my usage of the laptop.)
How is this possible that all three computers (and the PE8) are all having trouble burning to the DVD?  Is it possible that it's a program disc problem but then why would the PE8 have that same problem?
desktop info (laptops are off and I'm exhausted after having dealt with this for over 12 hours):
    windows XP
processor: intel pentium 4 cpu 3.00 ghz (2cpus)
    memory: 1.37 gb RAM
Any suggestions?  Unfortuanately, I'm not as "techy" as the rest of you.
    Thanks.

Thanks Steve.  I checked that article and I already do everything on all machines in your article except #4 of weekly and #1 of monthly.  I have read your articles over time and have always found them informative.  I've also gone to your website for information.
I do not have Adobe Bridge or Creative software.  How do I correct all three machines so that it will write to a DVD?  How do I get that file back?
    Thanks.

  • Export error message and render error message

    Hi all,
I just finished a16 min. movie, lots of hours containing two slides shows and a bunch of short video clips, lots of effects, transitions with jpgs, pip's, animated gifs and you name it.  It came out great!  ON THE COMPUTER THAT IS!... I am running pe7 on a brand new hp elite 410y desktop - AMD Phenom II x6 six-core processor 1045T, 8 GB PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM, 3MB L2 cache + 6MB shared L3 cache memory, 1TB seriel ATA hard drive and ATI Radeon HD 5570 graphics with 1GB DDR3 dedicated memory. My operating system is windows 7 home premium edition 64 bit.  I used jpg's from three different camera's, downloaded google images, as well as the animated gifs.  I took some video from my Nikon coolpix L110 and converted all mov files to avi using the free Prism converter...I didn't think to just use premiere to export to DV AVI.  I also took youtube video and converted them to avi.  I kept getting adobe system memory low, proceed with caution, did a bunch of saves and got throught it.  I tried to render and the error unknown compiling movie message kept coming up.  Well, at that point I just broke down, so many hours and then having to show the actual finished product to my friends, the stars of this movie on my little 20" computer monitor and not my big screen tv sucked...so dissapointing but moving on.
I started to search the forums and read another thread that Steve Grisetti answered about changing all photos to no more than 1000x750 and then try to split up the movie and export in premiere to DV AVI.  I only had a few photos like that, changed them and I still keep getting the same error message.  I tried just taking the first minute, did a save as, named it test and tried to export, no luck.  There seems to be something in the first part that premiere does not like and I did notice on playback that some of my effects were not working i.e. video pip sliding in from the left of the screen over a jpg.  I am so frustrated.
I finally chopped it up to three parts and tried exporting the 2nd part of just the video clips to DV AVI, no problem but changed my look.  When I hit export movie and look at the settings summary Filetype is CompilerMPEGproxy, the Video settings are Compressor: I-Frame only MPEG Frame size 1440h 1080v (1.333) Frame Rate: 29.97 frames/second Pixel Aspect Ration: HD Anamorphic 1080 (1.333) Fields: Upper field first, Audio Settings are Compressor: uncompressed Sample rates: 48000 sample/second Channels: Stereo and Sample Rates: 16 bit.  If I change to DV AVI, then the whole look changes, probably because the frame size is only 720h 480v.  Is there a way to export to DV AVI and keep the larger frame size?
I wanted to keep the original size, so I just tried to render part 2 and part 3 as is and had no problem, but now the audio skips. I have a wav file on part 3 and part 2 has the converted avi audio that came with the clips.  Please help, any suggestions will be most appreciated.  I can't start all over...I'm burnt.
    debby

    Hi Steve,
Thank you for your promptness...I am still a little confused though, I made a copy of my final movie and was working off the copy to try all these different scenerios to get it to render and now have alot of different projects, same movie, different project names.  Should I delete all the copies and take my original and go to Edit/Preferences/Media Cache and clear the media cache.  Then the timeline menu and delete render files and then go to the FAQ's to troubleshoot.
A quick second question:  I did get to render two parts of the whole movie, but the audio is skipping.  Can that be fixed and can I use it?
    Thank you,
    debby

  • Premiere Elements 7 error message

I recently installed PSE 7 and PE 7 on my PC. I am running Windows Vista Home Premium, I have plenty of space and it meets all the requirements of the installation.
I can get Photoshop Elements 7 to work just fine. It does what it is supposed to do.
However, Premiere Elements 7 is not working properly. I am continualy getting an error message telling me that a "serious error has occurred and PE7 must be shut down. We will attempt to save your project."
I have no current projects because I keep getting this at the beginning...the moment I click on New Project.
I have run all of the fix possibilities in the Adobe website. So far, to no avail.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled PE7.
    Suggestions welcome. Thank you.

When I copy and paste your links I get redirected to  a general forum page.
I even searched by 3bc43f9a and get a too many hits.
My problem is that I have Premiere Element 7 installed an working fine.
Yesterday my electricity went off when I had a project open.  (not sure if this has anything to do with it)
Now when I try to open Premiere it loads, and then minimizes at the bottom of screen and I cannot maximize it.
I have tried to repair, and uninstall and reinstall.
    Same thing
WHere is the preference file and catalog files for Premiere?
I am not running VISTA, but XP.
    Thanks for any help

  • Error message regarding compilerMixer.ccp-69

Here's more information on the error message I reported earlier, which no one addressed:  I tried to save a portion of a PE7  project on my timeline as an avi and I got an error message with a very vague pathname ending in CompilerMixer.ccp-69.  Does anyone recognize this or have a fix?
    Thanks,

The project is a standard NTSC video project and I tried to save a Microsoft AVI, workbar only, with audio and video using Export option on File drop down.  I'm running Windows 7 and have not had this exact problem before. I uninstalled Prel7 and reinstalled, and then I was able to export the avi once, and when I tried again, I got these error messages again.  I was able to copy the segment I wanted from one project timeline to a new project timeline, but I had the same shutdown issue with the new project.

  • Windows Vista: Ipod Error Message, no longer read by PCs

    Hello,
I have a 5th generation black ipod video with 30GB of memory.
The other day I hooked it up to my laptop (Toshiba, 4 months old) that it's been functioning on with no problems whatsoever. This weird error message flashed twice about it not being able to sync because of some software problem.
Eversince then, the only thing I can charge my ipod on is the family treadmill in the basement (~_~) as no other computer in the house recognizes it. I can't even charge it through the wall sockets, either.
I have changed the ipod cord, still no luck. I've also reset the device about 3 or 4 times and uninstalled, restarted the laptop then reinstalled itunes. I would like to reset it back to factory settings but that's impossible as computers/laptops don't pick it up. I live very far from a Mac store...
What's a girl to do? I can't live without my Busta Rhymes and Wu-Tang Clan!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  • Error message into a Variable.

    Dear users,
I have a rather usual (unusual from the weekend beers for me though!!) query which I can't figure out a proper way to implement.
    My requirement is like this:
I have a message class in which I want to define a text 'Employee number & not found'.
I want to use this in the program, but not to raise this error. Instead, I want to move this error message with the Employee number into a Character(200) variable.
So instead of using MESSAGE e0xx(messageclass) USING employee number, I would like to move the error text into a variable which looks like:
lv_text = e0xx(messageclass) USING '1234'   which stores the text 'Employee number 1234 not found' in lv_text.
    How would I acheive it??
    Thanks, V!

    Try tis way
    message e999(00) with i_emp-empno into lv_text.
press f1 in message will provide you more details

  • IPod seen by windows, not by iTunes+ weird error message

I have a first generation 2GB iPod nano and i use windows xp. I can't load any music because iTunes doesn't see my iPod and an error message pops up that reads like this: "iTunes: iTunes.exe corrupt file. The file or directory \iPod_Control\iTunes is corrupt and unredable. Please run the checkdisk utility." I've tried everything, reinstalling iTunes, different versions, reinstalling OS, resetting iPod, even on another computer, same problem. Other than that, the iPod works normally, it's just lacking music..
and why is there no email adress from apple for service qustions? 10x

I still don't get it, how can I put it in disk mode if I CANNOT see the iPod in iTunes..?
Did you read the document i linked you to? here's another link to it:
    Putting iPod into Disk Mode
whereabouts in that procedure in that document (that you get to by clicking that link) does it say that you have to connect it to iTunes to put it into disk mode?
    ... never mind ... i guess you've fixed it anyway ...

  • Error message iPod cannot update b/c all of the playlists no longer exist

Hello. I have been getting this error message. "Songs on the iPod "MAR(the name of my iPod)" cannot update because all of the playlists selecting for updating no longer exist." And my playlists are still on the left side in my iTunes. They do exist. I have a feeling ths might have to do with the fact that on vacation the person I was visiting gave me a gift of putting all of his music that would fit into the external hard drive part of my iPod, and for the past week or so I have been putting that music onto my 40 GB portable hard drive at home. I suspect I took a vital folder out of my iPod by accident. Right now I have the folder iPod_control if I open my iPod up in My Computer. Am I missing something? Right now my iPod is empty because iTunes made a composite playlist last week and I deleted it thinking I could get my real playlists back. Can you help me, or reccomend a site/someone who can? Thank you.
    PC   Windows XP

    hiya!
And my playlists are still on the left side in my iTunes. They do exist.
let's just doublecheck this. folks get this message if they have "automatically update selected playlists only" selected in their itunes "ipod" preferences tab. so bring up that tab ("edit > preferences", click "ipod" while the ipod is showing up in the source list), and do a playlist by playlist crosscheck of the playlists selected in that tab, and the playlists showing up in the itunes sourcelist.
is there any playlist selected in the preferences tab that isn't showing up in the sourcelist?
    love, b

  • Windows Blue Screen Error Message Appears As Soon As IPod Connected

Everytime I connect my IPod to my computer, I get the Windows Blue Screen error message. Thought it was the cable, so plugged cable in by itself. No problem. Uninstalled IPod and ITunes software and then plugged in IPod, still got the Blue Screen. The Blue Screen says something about "recent plugged in device problem". It is not the cable, it must be the IPod. Did not have this problem when I bought it. Tried it on labtop and get the same error message. I can't do updater or anything that requires me to plug the IPod into a computer because the Blue Screen appears immediately. When I unplug, the Blue Screen remains and locks up the computer so I have to restart each time. I have tried everything I can think of. Please help.

Hi Mike thank you for replying,
I am not able to start the computer in safe mode, safe mode with networking, last good known configuration etc, Each time it quickly blue screens and restarts about two secs into the process.
I was unable to try a clean OS install from the disk as it gave the blue screen error shown in the original post. The same thing happened when I tried to use the repair option on the XP home disc. So i can't get into the computer at all to start diagnosing the fault, the only clue I have is the error message, and after searching the internet I haven't found much enlightenment from that yet.
If you can help me out or suggest where to search it would be much appreciated.
    Thx

  • IPod Error Message: "The disk could not be read from or written to."

    Hello!
I was syncing my sister's video iPod (30GB) and this error message pops up "Attempting to copy to the disk. "SARAH'S IPO" failed. The disk could not be read from or written to."
I have restored it three times already, but once it starts putting the music and files back onto the iPod it pops up with that error message. I have updated to the latest version of iTunes and iPod software available. My OS is Windows XP.
Is this something serious? Will I be able to fix it myself or will I need to send it in to be fixed by Apple? Will that be expensive? We didn’t get the Apple replacement plan. D=
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. ^_^
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   15" PowerBook 1.5 GHz PowerPC G4, 1.5GB RAM - Windows XP with iPod 5 Generation

Okay I went thru that entire list and here's what I got...
    (1) My OS is XP and is running fine.
    (2) I've updated my windows
    (3) I don't know of any software that might be interfering.
    (4) There are no damaged files.
    (5) My Windows hard-drive is not damaged and I've tried restoring my iPod's disk thru iTunes but it still doesn't work.
    (6) I don't have an iPod photo and I can't find the folder to delete the cache if if I did.
    (7) The USB cord is firmly connected into my USB port and my iPod
    (8) My music is on my external hard-drive so I need to keep 3rd-party hardware connected
    (9) I will try another USB cord to see if that works.
Is there anything else that I can do? Can Apple fix this?
    Please let me know.

  • IPod Touch will no longer sync...error message.

For some reason my older iPod Touch without a camera on it will not sync any more and I am getting an error message saying this iPod cannot be synced. Now I had it set up to sync over Wi-Fi and I would occasionally hook up to the computer with the cable and got error messages on both. Now I read something about removing the SC Info Folder. If I do that will that mess things up with syncing my iPhone?

What is the exact wording of the error message?

  • Error Message: Need to purge Cache in Adobe Bridge CC (on PC)

I tried purging using Adobe Bridge by going to Edit/Preferences/Cache then purging, but it becomes non responsive.  The error message said the problem files were at Users/(my user name)/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/BridgeCC/Cache.   There are 4 files in there that are taking up 124 GB!  Can I simply delete these files or will it corrupt my regular files?  I tried doing as some other forums suggested and hold the ALT key down when opening Bridge before purging, but no luck.

Yes, you can delete the cache files manually,  Just be advised that Bridge will become very, very slow until it finishes rebuilding its caches.  Depending on your files, that can take a few minutes or several hours.
A good way of doing it is at night, so you can do it before going to bed and let Bridge rebuild caches overnight.
If you can, save the cache files before deleting them to an external drive, so that you'll have them as backup if something goes wrong.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS2 Error messages after update to mac os 10.4.6

After updated to mac os 10.4.6 everytime I use Photoshop CS2 I receive an error message "Could not complete your request because of a program error"
I did all the workarounds that were described in document 331627 from Adobe's website and nothing worked.
I also subscribe to maxosx.com support and someone suggested removing the legal.localized/Tien...file from the photoshop cs2/legal directory, but everytime I tried to select the directory "legal" from within the finder view, it disappeared and closed the finder window.
    HELP!

Did you upgrade from a previous version of OS X like 10.3.x or 10.2.x or from a prior version of 10.4.x? If the former, there are probably some files in your previous system folder that need to be restored.
Otherwise, double click Photoshop when it's closed, and then IMMEDIATELY hold Command + Option + Shift. You'll get a box for resetting the settings. Select Yes and maybe that will help.
