Error opening device

I'm facing some peculiar problems while communicating with the devices using GPIB
I have developed two GUI's in VB 5.0 which tries to communicate with two instruments(DMM) simultaneously( need to say I'm trying to communicate with two instruments at a time). Both the GUI's works fine for 6 times. 7th time I don't know ,I get an error as " Unable to Open Device" . If I close the application and rerun ,it agian works fine for 6 times. 7th time again hangs .And, when i get error in one application , the other also stops . If I try running a single application , it works fine for 12 times, 13th time same problem. And one more, the application is not hanging at the same point. There are no loops in my program . System what I'm using is Dell PC PII
and 192MB RAM.
Please let me know the possible solutions for this and more over if I use two GPIB cards whether it's going to solve the problem.

Thanks for the reply.
As u said I tried capturing calls in NI-spy , but didnt' find anything that could solve my problem. After some 2900 calls (when running a single GUI) ibdev call fails . I'm sending a bmp file as an attachment which I captured after gettin the error. When I try runnning two GUIs the , error occurs somewhere near 1500 calls.
I probably feel this is an error related to memory addressing.

DIAGNOSTIC ERROR: OPEN DEVICE (Hard Drive test error)

I have the problem where the ipod at boot time tells me to go to apple.com/support, and i cannot boot into disk mode. Diagnostic test of the Hard Drive instead of listing the HD details, simply says '[Open Device...]' for a few seconds, beeps, and then says '[Can't Open Device]' and halt's the Diag. Also, when left to boot naturally (and fail) the harddrive makes very unnatural clicking sounds, so its obviously nackered.
Obviously then this is a Hard Drive problem, but I'm also hearing that it could be caused by the ribbon? Before I pay out for a new harddrive then I thought I'd double check the validity of this claim. Anyone have any experience with ipod harddrive failures?

I have an MSL4048 tape library, that has 2 drives. I have one job that when it runs on drive 2 I get the following error

You're trying to load a defective web page that's configured only to allow certain browsers to connect.
Sometimes the Firefox browser may be able to connect to such a page, or sometimes you may be able to fool the server into thinking you're running IE.
If the Develop menu isn't showing in the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Advanced ▹ Show Develop menu in menu bar
Then select
Develop ▹ User Agent ▹ Internet Explorer 8.0 (or 9.0 or 10.0)
Try again to load the page. Although this ruse may get you past the blocking page, it does not cause Safari to behave like IE, and the site may not work.

My lack of understanding is really showing here...
The default format for alsa is implicitly defined like this:
jesusonic -mode ALSA -in hw:0,0 -out hw:0,0
I'm posting this in the hope that someone that knows hardware will be able to tell you how to identify the proper address. Of course another (very hackish) solution is to just try some other value like hw:0,1 on both. 0,0 and 0,1 work on my machine, but it fails with the same error you have on 0,2.

Can't format external HDD using terminal: Error: -69877: Couldn't open device

Disk Utility won't format / erase Seagate Barracuda 2TB (ST2000DM001) - it is an internal drive but I connected it using a docking station via USB. The disk is brand new and unformatted. System indicates that it is S.M.A.R.T incompatible
When trying to erase the disk, I get error message "disk / link could not be found / opened".
I tried using terminal "diskutil eraseDisk HFS+ newdisk /dev/disk3" but I get this message:
Started erase on disk3
Unmounting disk
Error: -69877: Couldn't open device
Any way I could force format the disk?

Thank you @MrHofman. I had a setup with 2 dock stations and 2 HDDs (my TimeCapsule had crashed and I needed to recover its content disassembling the "box"). I disconnected everything. I restarted the computer., I swithched the USB ports in which I had connected the dock stations; I swithched the HDDs from dock stations, and voilà, the system allowed me to format the "recovery" HDD. Sometimes the "simplest" solutions work...
@Linc Davis: prior to the fix described above, when trying to partition, same thing would occur : "can't open link / disk" error message. But now it seems to be working fine. Thank you anyway!

Open Error 6: Device not configured

I recently had my hard drive replaced and restored to factory settings. I then used a time machine backup and the Migration Assistant to get everything I had back to where it belonged.
Things worked for a day or so, but with a few crashes here and there. Yesterday, I tried to use iTunes and kept getting an error message about the database (-50, unable to mount database). The problem is that the whole system would freeze and I had to shut down and restart every time. Sometimes I could load the OS, sometimes not. This morning I ran Disk Utility to verify the disk (it passed) and the permissions. When I tried to repair permissions, I got hundreds of messages like this : "Open Error 6: Device not configured on" and then a list of paths, such as "System/Library/Perl/5.10.0/darwin-thread-multi-2level/auto/POSIX/getgrgld.al", and "System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/share/ri/....." etc. Literally hundreds of those messages.
Does anyone know what this means? And how should I fix it?!?

Get error when opening device with example code

I look in measurement and automation tool and see my device as device 1 but when I run the "Read Dig Chan" example application I get error -200220 - "Device indentifier is invalid"

Check to make sure your device is present in the Measurement and Automation Explorer under NI-DAQmx Devices. Depending on which board you�re using it will most likely be listed under both NI-DAQmx Devices and Traditional NI-DAQ Devices. The Read Dig Chan example uses the NI-DAQmx driver so it references the device labeling under NI-DAQmx Devices. If you are using the Read Dig Chan LabVIEW example all of your available choices should populate in the pull-down menu of the I/O control.

Why does To open "device manager" install Java SE 6 runtime appear every time I boot up computer after installing upgrade to Yosemite 10.10 OS

You must have some application called "device manager" which is set to run at startup. Do you know what it is?
Go to System Preferences->Users and Groups, then select the "Login Items" tab and see what's there. Remove anything you don't recognize.
If it's an application you know, and you want to run, then you're going to have to install Java on your machine. Honestly, I'd recommend against it; the application must be quite old.

Error publishing from Muse - "error updating device redirect setting"

After recent upgrade of Muse I am getting an error message when publishing. The pages are published correctly but there is an error which prevents the final completion of the process. message = "Error updating device redirect settings click resume to try again." it never works. What is up? is this a Business Catalyst error or a a Muse error?

Hi, I was able to reformat my iPod and that worked. I read it on one of the threads and I am copy pasting the method below:
I opened the "My Computer" window and right-clicked on my ipod, and then selected "Format". I select "Yes" to format since I don't have anything on the nano to delete anymore.
I then Eject my nano from the computer and did a restart while the nano is disconnected from the computer.
Once Windows finish loading I reconnect the USB to the nano(back of computer) which automatically pulls up iTune. It asked me to name the new ipod detected and created a playlist for that specific ipod name.

Aperture error opening database for library

I was working in Aperture--deleting photos--when it crashed. My Mac Book Pro rebooted but in trying to open Aperture after it rebooted, I got this message:
"There was an error opening the database for the library “/Users/rick/Pictures/Aperture Library.aplibrary”. My only option on the pop-up was to quit.
I found a suggestion here online to find the Aperture library, hold Command-Option and double click the library which supposedly would bring up a repair menu. It didn't. I got the same message as i did on trying to open Aperure quoted above, and again the only option was to quit Now I can't even open Aperture.
Any ideas how to get my library back? Thanks.

Here is the Etresoft report. The only software I can recall recently installing is Dashlane. And I did have the local Apple store recently install new memory (from 4 GB to 8) but other than that I don't recall other changes. I believe Aperture is the most current version. To check, I'll have to log on to the other account because that is now the only way I can get Aperture to open. Should I do that?

Using Photoshop CS6 and after printing approx. 10 cards on an Epson R3000 printer the program gives me a dialog box saying "There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents." Even after closing and reopening the program, the print command is greyed out so I cannot select any printer. This also happens with a Brother laser printer. Both printers will produce a test page out side of the Adobe product. Help!

I cannot get any help either. I get the message "There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents." I have reinstalled all drivers, powered off/on all printers (2 of them - a Brother HL - 4040cn and an Epson Stylus Pro 7890 - which all worked fine until this morning). There appears to be no path to a solution. I have read all the forums and tried about 20 different suggestions all to no avail. Reboots, changing cables, reinstalling printers and drivers and Photoshop CS6 - ALL TO NO AVAIL. On a macbook pro retina with 10.10.3. This issue is out there and some get solutions - but not all - that's my crowd...the not all crowd. I have yet to be able to print from CS6 any more. This is a show stopper and my patience is wearing thin. And I'm tired of stupid questions like "is your printer powered on?" give me a break. This appears to be an adobe photoshop cs6 problem - as I can print from every other application. Anyone have any ideas? Adobe should have something?... Adobe system info below:
