Error receiving from socket when data truncation occurs

I am using a PreparedStatement that has a "character" column of a set length (2). It also has a constraint set up of valid entries (H, AS, AR).
When I put valid data into the field, the update works fine. If I enter invalid data of the correct length it gives me the constraint error. However if I put an entry that is too long (and of course is not valid), I get the socket error. I am using setString since there is no setChar, which seems to work fine except in this situation.
My prepared statement has 41 fields to "set". If I cut the number of
fields down to 26, I start getting the CLI0109E String data right truncation. SQLSTATE=22001 error on the field in question. If I set 27 fields on the PreparedStatement, the program never returns from the
executeUpdate();
Any sugguestions?

Validate the length before putting it in the statement.

  • CLI0615E  Error receiving from socket, server is not responding.

We recently changed a web application using DB2 5.2 tables from ODBC to JDBC. We are using the COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.net.driver. We are using a
connection pool and running on iPlanet.
We are getting intermittant "CLI0615E Error receiving from socket, server is not responding errors". We have looked in the JDBC forum and DB2 support and cannot find a reasonable answer to this problem. It is NOT always on sql statements that take a long time to execute, so I don't think it is a timeout issue.
I read something about "stale connections". Does anyone know how to check to see if this is a problem?
When we first converted the app, we had a lot of problems also with "invalid handle or statement is closed" which we have determined was being caused by the user submitting the page again before it had time to finish the first time. We have put in javascript code to prevent multiple submits. Could this server not responding problem be caused by double submits that we have not located yet?
The error is NOT occuring on any one page, and the same page will run correctly once and the next time throw this error.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    hi,
lemme try to tell u what i thinkk..i dont think its' a solution
Usually this error code means that there was some problem while the driver tried establishsing a socket connection to the remote server. You could very well avoid this by tracking out what is preventing the socket connection.. it may be network congestion or some other onfiguration problems with the network, or with the DB2 server...
But if the same application could work perfectly with jdbc-odbc driver in same environment, then it needs some attention.either the ibm driver isn't throwing the error as expected by the iplanet or iplanet isn't acting as needed when such an error is thrown.
contact them and they may provide and explanation..
    wishes,

  • Error on ASA5505: "IKE Receiver: Error reading from socket."

    Hi,
I'm expecting a problem with the network of a customer.
He has one ASA5505 connected to 2 RV082 using VPN IPSec (1 top office and 2 remote sites).
Each sites have 2 internet ADSL providers: "Provider A" and "Provider B" for backup purpose.
The remote site 1 has the default connection using "Provider A" network on both sites (top office and remote site) and "Provider B" for backup purpose.
While remote site 2 has the default connection using "Provider B" network on both sites (top office and remote site) and "Provider A" for backup purpose.
(Kind of load balancing when all connections are working good)
When all "3 sites x 2 =" 6 connections are working, I doesn't have any problem and all is working good.
But since 2 weeks, the "Provider A" of the top office is disconnected: both remote site uses "Provider B" and are connected to the top office on
the "Provider B" connection. ("Provider A" is no longer used on every sites.)
This configuration works good until a short disconnection appear on "Provider B" connection on "Site 2".
Then I have many "IKE Receiver: Error reading from socket." on the ASA5505 syslog and the RV082 located on "Site 2" says it's connect but it isn't. (It is not possible to ping "site 2" from top office network.)
If I force this RV082 to reconnect, I can from the top office, ping "Site 2" and open a remote desktop session to the server located on "site 2".
But I cannot ping top office network from "Site 2" and I cannot open a remote desktop session to the server located on "top office"
(it's very strange I can ping from a A network to a B network but not from B to A).
Restart the RV082 of the "Site 2" and/or the ASA5505 does not fix the problem and I continue to get the IKE socket error message.
To fix the problem until next "Site 2" "Provider B" disconnection, I have to disconnect or restart the RV082 located on "Site 1" and then do the same to the RV082 located on "Site 2".
    I use updated firmware: RV0XX-v4.1.1.01-sp.bin for both RV082 v3 and asa843-9-k8.bin for the ASA5505.

Maybe it's set as a login item:
    - System Preferences: Users and Groups:
    - Highlight your user account in the left pane/list
    - Click "Login" tab at the top.
See if you have an Automater action on the list
    - Note, you can select it, then right-click, and can then select "Reveal in Finder". That way you might have an idea what installed it.

We are going to migrate db from oracle 10g to oracle 11g. Does anybody have any idea? I've googled the similer problems but still can't find a clue. I'll appreciate any help.

    Welcome to the forum!
Please provide the 4 digit Oracle version (result of SELECT * FROM V$VERSION) for the source and target servers; 10g and 11g are not versions. You also mention sql developer so what is the exact version you are using?
    >
If delete the "OF out_a.ALLOCATION_ID" of the for update clause of CURSOR exist_allocation, this prolbem will not happen, and the code is comple succesfully on sql developer for oracle 10g.
    >
Please clarify what works and what doesn't work because your statements are both incorrect and misleading.
You can't delete the "OF out_a.ALLOCATION_ID" of the for update clause or you would get a syntax error by leaving FOR UPDATE OF with nothing specified after it.
    Also you original statement said
    >
But when compile a package which is fine on oracle 10g
    >
But now you say that if you delete the "OF..." the problem doesn't happen and the code compiles on 10g.
Does the original code compile on 10g or not? Does it compile on 11g or not? After the original code is migrated to 11g does it compile? That is, the code is there can you manually compile it?

  • No more data to read from socket when I try to open the control center

    Hi everybody,
I'm using on production environment the following OWB:
    Client: 10.2.0.3.33
    Repository: 10.2.0.3.0
The control center worked very fine since a week ago, and now suddently when I try to login from the Design Center I get the error "No more data to read from socket"
I saw on the forum many thread relating the problem "No more data to read from socket", and my case is very close to the thread
Warehouse Builder error no more data to read from socket.
even if I'm using a different version of OWB...
Now, I found on metalink the Doc ID: 549303.1 "*Opening of The Control Center Manager Fails with: No More Data To Read From Socket*" , where there are 2 solutions:
1)This bug has been fixed in the Oracle 10.2.0.4 patchset and Oracle 11g database.
    2) To workaround the issue change the value of the parameter "optimizer_mode" from ALL_ROWS into FIRST_ROWS.
In the thread above they found the solution setting the optimizer_mode=first_rows
    ....but I have two questions:
    1) I have another envinronment (development) completely equal to the production env. (same OWB versions), where the Control Center works perfectly and the optimizer_mode=ALL_ROWS
Why in the development env., even if the optimizer_mode=ALL_ROWS, the control center works perfectly ???
    2) How it's possible that suddently the control center crashed with this error ? I didn't change nothing (at the Db level and at the OWB level)
My last chance is to apply the Oracle 10.2.0.4 patchset, but I can't change the db version (actually I have 10.2.0.3.0)
    I will appreciate any suggestion
    Thanks in advance
    Alex

This problem still exists in OWB 11g R2. I hit this same issue yesterday. Not sure why its claimed to be resolved

  • Error message from labview when trying to set up the DAQ assistant

The error I get states "An exception occured within the external code called by a Call Library Node. This might have corrupted LabView's memory. Save any work to a new location and restart labview". Labview then freezes. I have reset the DAQ device in trying to slove this but I still get the same message. How do I solve this?? thanks - mars2006

    Hi Mars-
It sounds like your NI-DAQ installation may have become corrupted. I would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the DAQmx 7.4 driver to correct this problem and ensure that you're up to date. This download is available here: NI-DAQ 7.4
If the problem persists you may want to uninstall and reinstall LabVIEW and then NI-DAQ in that order. The error message will usually give an indication as to which VI the error occurred in. Please let us know which VI is failing if you're unable to avoid the error with these suggestions.

  • 'Cannot obtain error message from server' when trying to use ODBC

    Post Author: Grant C
CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
Hi, I'm developing some reports using Crystal XI on my local PC, using an Oracle 10i back end on a separate server.  The SQL for the report is in a method in an oracle package.
When I set the datasource location, selecting 'Oracle Server' then entering the details works fine, and the report runs.  However, when I try to use an ODBC connection I get the following error:
Database Connection Error: 'Cannot obtain error message from server.'
The ODBC link is set up as a System DSN, which works fine when I test it.  I think I need to use ODBC as some of the reports (which I inherited) seem to fail when run on the Crystal Server, and it seeme to be the ones set up with ODBC which work.
    Any thoughts?  Thanks.

  • Error message from web - when opening pdf files

    Hi,
I receive the following error message a lot when I try to open an educational pdf file from the web.  What do I need to do to 1. see, 2. print and 3. save these type of educational pdf files from the web?  I am using a MacBookPro OS X.
Thanks for your help and sorry I could not find an answer on the forum.
Example:  I try to import or download MIT18_06SCF11_Ses3.5sum 2.pdf onto my desktop - which seems successful.  However when I try to open this file, I get the following error message.:
"Adobe Reader could not open 'MIT18_06SCF11_Ses3.5sum 2.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."

Yes i tried following your list of commands and got the same error from MyMathLab by Pearson Publishing or the other link.  I'm beginning to wonder if they are protected.
As you probably guess - I am not computer savvy.  I will take my laptop to school tomorrow and ask another student.
    Thanks for your followup.

  • Why were no attributes in the Error received from Adapter Framework (AF)?

    Hi All,
We have a local processing scenario where we use the Integration Configuration through Advanced Adapter Engine to download attachment using Sender Mail Adapter from Lotus Notes Mail and Upload the file attachment into an FTP using Receiver File Adapter. As part of our testing we deliberately set the Sender Mail Adapter to produce error by changing the configuration like setting a wrong URL to simulate downtime on Lotus Notes.  The error shows up in the RWB CommChannel and an error record is received from AF to send Alert.  When the alert tries to find the alert rule it is unable to do so because the condition (Component, Interface and Namespace) values are empty "*Find rule for (From:::: To::::)" This is from the report SXMSALERT_LOGREADER.
The (From:::: To::::) should contain the Sender Component, Interface and Namespace as FROM, and Receiver Component, Interface and Namespace as TO but they are not picked up from the Mail Adapter because there are no message/payload yet but I am expecting at least the Component to be included.
The result of the empty (From:::: To::::) will be a "*No matching rule found" and no alert is sent.
Do anyone had the same issue?  Is this a possible bug in PI?
Please let me know if you need additional detail.
    Regards,
    Orlando

    Hi Orlando,
When the sender channel reads any message, it would be able to determine the Sender service, Interface and namespace from Sender agreement. It is not dependent on the payload.
To generate the alert for such, you can modify the alert rule to check only for the Sender serice, interface and namespace.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Sanjeev.

The COMBO update includes all updated items since the original release of 10.6.0, including any security updates and can be used on any previous version. The 10.6.3 update only works on 10.6.2 or 10.6.3. SL = Snow Leopard. Sorry for the confusion, but I've been mucking with SL for over 18 months and forget some don't use that terminology.

  • Confusing error message from iTunes when trying to use AirTunes

    Hello everyone,
I figured since other folks might run into this issue that it's worth posting about, since it's both annoying, irritating, and none of the Apple support hints address it properly ...
If you're one of those folk like me who has to deal with corporate proxies for pretty much everything while at work, but don't have any local proxy issues at home, you might use something called Proxifier.
Be aware that the way it works (as a kernel module, intercepting socket calls and transparently mapping them through your defined proxy) will screw up iTunes unless you explicitly unproxy it (it implicitly proxies everything except what you tell it to).
The error message I kept getting was "The remote speaker is not compatible with your version of iTunes", and after spending 20 minutes or so with ktrace, watching socket calls, I gave Proxifier a poke and told it to stop proxying iTunes. Lo, and behold, AirTunes magic returned.
So if you use both of these applications, be wary of the interaction between the two, as it can be confusing and produce undescriptive and unhelpful error messages!
    cheers,
    Klaus

    Hi Mars-
It sounds like your NI-DAQ installation may have become corrupted.
    Have a good day-
