Internal Error When Trying To Connect To Enterprise Server

We are making a rather bold move upgrading from CD8.5 to CR2008. We have an enterprise server in place that can be accessed in 8.5. When I attempt to log in to the server using 2008, I get a weird error saying that an internal error has occurred for an unknown exception.
I guess the place to start is to figure out what that error message really means so we can try and fix it.
Any tips or suggestions?

There have been changes in the way CR connects to Enterprise. You did not say what version of Enterprise you are using but it should also match the version of CR.
CR 8.5 is very old and since version 9.0 most reports designed and published to current versions of Enterprise will work. You'll run into issues though because CR XI R2 and above have cascading parameters which older versions do not know anything about. Designing reports in CR 2008 and publishing them to older version of CRS may not work 100%.
Depending on the version of Enterprise you should have a valid support contract and therefore can create a case on line and work with an engineer to explain in details. If your version of Enterprise is that old you'll need to upgrade it also to BOE XI R3.1
If you are trying to connect to Enterprise 8.5 or older it's not going to work from CR 2008. They need to match versions.

SO I am getting a strange error when trying to access the FIM Management Agents

Hi Everyone,
So I am getting a really odd error when I go to FIM --> Management Agents -->MOSS-guid ID right click on that and choose porperties, then Configure Connection Information, then I click OK and I get this pop up error "the type of 'pictureurl' string
is not compatible with the type of 'sps_mv_octelstring_pictureurl'. I got here by noticing that in the error log there was an error that said:
The management agent "MOSS-guid ID" failed on run profile "MOSS_EXPORT_Guid ID" because the server encountered errors.
when I searched on that error, it lead me to a ton of blogs that said to do the following:go to FIM --> Management Agents -->MOSS-guid ID right click on that and choose porperties, then Configure Connection Information at the bottom of the page there
is a Connect To field and every blog I read said to change it to direct:{Domain}:{Port}. The thing is that my domain and port were fine, so that is when I clicked ok, and got that error message. Ever since this happened, my FIM has been broken, and I really
can't figure out why???
So I haven't done any updates to the server in at least a year, so nothing could be happening there.
Any help at all with this would be taken with the greatest appreciation.

What you're doing is unsupported. You need to manipulate the MAs via Central Admin -> Manage Service Applications, find your UPA SA and manage it. You can then Manage User Properties and make changes to the Picture property from here.

Getting a perl error when trying to discover a Weblogic Managed Server

Hi,
Any help working this out would be greatly appreciated. I've searched Oracle Support and here without success so far.
I am trying to add a weblogic 10.3 manager server as a target for the agent on that host. Using Grid Control 10.2.0.5 patch 3 on both the OMS and the agent.
I get past the 2nd screen of the wizard then it fails. So far I've entered hostname, port, credentials for weblogic, then on the next page the credentials for the linux user on the host. Hitting next goes to a clock icon for a few seconds then it fails with:

I understand that when the agent runs the perl script weblogicdiscovery.pl, perl cant find the Find module to include (as instructed on line 2). The file in question exists in /app/oracle/agent10g/perl/lib/5.8.3/File/Find.pm .
I've tried tweaking the PERL5LIB env variable in the shell before I start the agent, and also in the emctl script itself, but neither seems to have any effect on that error message. It at least should have the basic $ORACLE_HOME/perl/lib in the path which is doesn't.
Anywhere else I should look for this variable setting?
Edit: Next question. I've been wondering where those "/ade/smayer_perl58_main_linux/..." paths were coming from as they aren't going to work and I see them (or at least very similar paths) defined in /app/oracle/agent10g/perl/lib/5.8.3/i686-linux-thread-multi/Config.pm . I've checked another linux host with the agent installed and it is the same, so must be defaults from Oracle. Was I supposed to change these after the install? I didn't read that anywhere. Still if we can set PERL5LIB before running emctl this should prepend real paths, right?

Should $ORACLE_HOME/Perl be rebuilt during the agent install? I'm thinking it should because those details in the file point to someone with a username smayer configuring perl as per his environment.

I've located something slightly useful on Metalink. Note ID 762125.1 particularly as we're using delegated privs and sudo.
However, this says this problem is fixed in 10.2.0.5. I'll prod my sysadmins some more on the sudoers configuration.

Right. If you are using delegated privs and sudo, make sure that sudo is configured to pass on the PERL5LIB and ORACLE_HOME environment variables at least.

They both work when ran separately. I can not get them to run with the loginwindow manger gui. any ideas?

The actual error was "There was a problem sending the command to the program". This was the message inside the error box. The error box also shows a message "https://support.mozilla.com/questions/887286#answer-2...". I cant read anymore and can't copy any of the links or message.

Error when trying to connect Crystal Enterprise to Peoplesoft (tools 8.49)

We have been using crystal enterprise with our peoplesoft for a while now, but with the tools version 8.43 on DB2 database. We are now upgrading our tools to version 8.49 on Oracle database.
We have tons of crystal reports developed on crystal enterprise on the tools version 8.43 on DB2 database, connecting to peoplesoft thru peoplesoft user authentication and accessing the peoplesoft queries.
We are now trying to point the crystal enterprise to peoplesoft on tools version 8.49 on Oracle database and are receiving the below error.
Is anyone familiar with this error and know how to fix it. Please help!

   Writing Custom applications to set database location for a PeopleSoft data source Crystal Report document, should be the same as Crystal Reports documents based on other data sources. (PeopleSoft can be considered as one of the many supported data sources for Crystal Reports.)

Runtime Error when trying to connect with Media manager

Whenever I try to connect to the Media manager with Blackberry Desktop manager, I get "Runtime Error"!
It says: "Program:C:\Program Files\Roxio\MediaManager 9\MediaManager9.exe" Then it says "This application has requested the Runtime to termnate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."
I seached and learned it might be that roxio is not running and to enable it going through the Start menu "msconfig".....it shows roxio "stopped" but also enabled.
Help! What next? This didn't begin happening until I followed a prompt telling me to update!

To give you a few pointers:
- The nmap output shows no 3389/tcp open, which means you will not be able to use the terminal server on that host, even if it where active.
- Check if the windows host you are trying to reach has a terminal server running (which is the windows server component which is responsible for serving remote desktop connectons), or has windows desktop sharing enabled (which is the windows client/non server variant responsible for serving remote desktop connections)
- Check if the windows host your are trying to reach has a firewall of some sort (the windows embedded one, or a 3rd party one) enabled.
- Also, can other machines use remote desktop on that machine?

Error when trying to bring up Itunes browser

I get the following error and cannot open up Itunes: The application or DLL C:/Windows/system32/mssip32.dll is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your instalation diskette. Any ideas what is wrong? The IPO will power up and play but I can't get Itunes to open.

That article is related to the dll that you are having trouble with. I'd either back up all your data and reinstall windows or get someone with more computer skills to help you.

Did you change your JDK path by any chance? Also you are getting a strange error message. It is trying to point to both D:\OracleBIData\jobmanager and C:\OracleBIData\jobmanager. Is there anything that you changed prior to doing this?

Someone sorted out this issue by installing API 1.2 and copying the dll files to the service manager server ,service folder and replacing it with API 2.0 dll files.

'System Error' when trying to save Form Manager Registry Settings

Hi,
trying to save changes made in the form manager registry settings [Home > Services > Adobe LiveCycle Form Manager > Registry Settings (http://localhost:8080/FormManagerAdmin/registry-cfg-load)], I get an error, which reads:

The request could not be processed. Please retry the operation. If the problem persists, please contact your system administrator.
Has anyone had this error as well?
The system runs fine apart from the jboss log files being crammed with the well-known and pretty annoying
SpyJMSException.
Does anyone have an idea how to apply changes to the form manager registry settings, if the web ui does not work? Where are the 'form manager registry settings' being stored? Maybe I succeed in changing the settings manually at least without having to re-install Livecycle...

We are using JBoss 3.2.5.
Weirdly, last week a collegue of mine was able to save the registry changes. This week, both of us get the 'System error' when trying to save changes. Even using a default Administrator account, we were unable to save changes.
Is there any other way apart from the LiveCycle web UI to change the registry settings without having to re-install the server? Where are these values stored?

Errors when trying to connect CRM 7.0 to Enterprise Search

I encountered 2 errors when trying to connect to a CRM 7.0 system as a backend system from Enterprise Search Cockpit.
The first error is related to ESH_INT_GET_TREX_DESTINATION with a message of ESH_OM_OBJ_MODEL_REP 517:

4.0 should be fine. My initial thoughts were on the script targetting a framework lesser than 3.5. Am bummed about the error cause in the line

it just creates an instance of the ClientContext class. It should have nothing to do with permissions cause it is not even trying to connect to the sharepoint site. So it looks like it can't find the assembly. Can you place the asembly
under the Microsoft.Net\Framework folder of your machine. SSIS looks for custom assemblies in this folder on design time (Refer
