ESS - User Mapping

Dear All,
How user mapping is done with the system user name saved in the communications infotype and portal user id. Here there can be two instances, 1) Portal user id and System user name ( 0105 infotype - communications) are same and 2) Portal user id and System user name are different. So in these two instances how it will be mapped. I have not worked more in HRUSER transaction, can you explain me how to do it step - by - step.

    First go for portal ID check If it is maintained against any PERNR then pick up that pernr.
else.
data: PSNO type pa0001-pernr.
SELECT SINGLE pernr FROM pa0105 INTO PSNO
                    WHERE usrid = sy-uname AND
                          usrty = '0001' AND
                          endda = '99991231'.
probably User ID is used as Portal ID no Separate Portal id is maintained.

Problems with user mapping to download ESS Business Package for EP 6.0

Hi,
I am trying to download ESS Business Package for EP 6.0 but facing problems inspite of reading the SAP document on downloading Business Package. Here is my problem:
I start to download the package and to map the user ids. I am mapping the SDN user id to a SAP Service Marketplace user id as mentioned in the SDN website. But the download option is not working and gave an error when I clicked on the 'Download' link after user mapping.
It would help me a lot if anyone else who tried to download BPs after user mapping gave their feedback.
Can someone please clarify about the user ids and describe how can I download the ESS Business Package?

from the description you provide I can't tell what the problem might be, so to determine the cause we need more information on this. Screenshots of the error message would be ideal.
In general, the following needs to be done:
- you need to be signed in at SDN with your Service Marektplace s user id
- the user mapping for the data source 'Service Marketplace' needs to be maintained

Portal and R3 user mapping

Experts,
We are on EP6 with 4.7 backend and using AD as our data source.
We implemented ESS on ITS and we have few users who have different portal user ID and R/3 ID and I want their ID to be mapped to their R3 ID.
So far, I've added my r3 usrID as one of the parameters in AD and in the UM config file, I've mapped this field to userID.
I've defined the sap reference system and when I go to user mapping under "personalize" it says "Error occurred while reading the selected user mapping data"
Can someone tell me what could be wring with this setup?

Well, this may not be the "best way" to do it but.....

Make it a dedicated system and then you can have your users go up to personalize it once and done. Then what every you need the back end for just reference the system you created.

User mapping is not saved

Hi All,
i am doing user mapping in personalization window,
if i am enter my user id and password after that if i am click on save button, the logon data is not saved, so pls solve my problem.

I am configuring a production Server with SP14.
When i am in user mapping section, i find the error msg as below:
There is a configuration issue which leads to problems when accessing user mapping data for the selected backend system 'ESS'. Usually, the reason is user mapping being configured for strong encryption, but the necessary additional files being missing. Check the security log file for further information and hints on how to solve the problem.
I am not able to enter any user id / pwd ; The fields are greyed out.
I did solve the same in the development server using :
Goto System administration-system Configuration-UM Configuration-Direct Editing.
In that make the ume.usermapping.unsecure as TRUE.
But on seeing your reply stating this is not suitable for Production server, i am bit confused.
Can you pls help with me an alternate solution..

Clarification in ESS User Licensing

Greetings!
We are to implement ESS in a R3 4.7 Ext 1.10 system through ITS and SAP NW EP 6.0/SP21.
ESS Users will be using the portal system to verify their personal details and other functionalities. I have used SSO and User Mapping.
As per the settings the user created in the Portal System also needs to be created in the R3 system with the same user name as a dialog user. When I tried creating the user as a communication user I was not able to connect to my R3 backend system from portal using the defined communication user.
Is this because of some configuration problems in SSO and User Mapping or such a scenario is not
possible?
I have a series of questions,
1. If a user is created in R3 and Portal system only with ESS roles, should the user be allowed to login to the R3 system (or) the user logging-in to R3 system violates the ESS license?
2. If the ESS user ids are created in both the R3 and Portal systems, how will the license be calculated?
3. Is there a possibilty of maintaining the R3 ESS user id's as a communication user and not allowing them a login through SAP Logon GUI?
Kindly advice if I am wrong.

ESS License and SAP R/3 License are different. So if you have e.g. 1000 ESS license and 500 SAP r/3 license, so in total you can have 1500 ESS users in an organisation as the 500 SAP r/3 license will work as ESS users by default. So users from departments like Lisioning, Legal and Admin, to whom you don't want to give access to SAP R/3, you can assign ESS or MSS role accordingly through which they can access ESS MSS services without access to R/3.
But before my strong confirmation I would like to speak with Sales/SAP Concerned person.

Punam, yes, you could manage Portal's Users by using windows users (i mean from Active Directory) or even maintain directly in Portal (Portal Users).
But, in order to work with information from your ERP about an employee, you need to do any mapping with SAP.
You could do a mapping against SAP with a different user that your Portal user (i mean with different name), by storing the user ID for the ABAP backend system in the user properties.

Also, i suggest you talk with your Basis the possibility of mappping multiple users to one (i never test this workaround, so be carefully in the tests), but also you must talk with your SAP Agent to ensure you're using the correct number and type of licenses.

ESS User ID Creation

I have a requirement to create an ESS User id and relate it with the personnel number through the infotype 0105.
I'm able to achieve it through the function module "HR_PERNR_USER_CREATE".
But i can't able to assign the role to those user id's.
Can anyone provide a solution for this

Correct me if i am wrong.
You have the requirement to map the ESS user ID - to the perosnnel number of an employee.
You have mapped it in IT105 - subtype 0001 & you could not create the roles for the user ID using the function module u specified.
Please check whether u have the authorization to assign the roles or not .

SSO to Exchange without user mapping

I have Exchange configured for collabration groupware integration, and it works fine. I can get my calander entries without a problem when I have a user mapping set for the Exchange Transport. I have SSO enabled using the iis_proxy.dll authenticating via Active Directory also without a problem. I can also connect to OWA without any issue. The only thing I don't like is that I need a user mapping for the calander availabity.
Does anyone know of a way to make this more automatic? I don't want the users to need to maintain their own mappings.

We are in the exact same situation. I thought that the SSO22KerbMap ISAPI filter would do just that but the user mapping is required no matter what, unless I'm missing something in my config. The Exchange and Active Directory users are the same so a user mapping should not be required.

How to set/get the values thru Wedbynpro coding for User mapping fields

My requirement is exactly as follows.
1) i have created one portal system object in system administration and also i created usermapping fields in the system object from the usermanagement in system object.
i created the user mapping fields like Plant,SalesManager,District etc.
i also created the system alias name for the same system object
2) Now i came to persoanlize link and mapped the system object to the portal user.
while mapping to the system object we need to enter Mapping userId, Password , once we enter these values and we can also enter the values of usermapping fields which we defined while creating the system object ( for example District,Salesmanager,Plant etc)
once we enter all the values and click on save then these usermapping values to be mapped to the portal user.
3) Now my requirement is , i want to control the usermapping field values thru webdynpro coding for setting/getting the values.
I need sample code of the same.
Please let me know if u need more details on the same.

SSO and User Mapping at same time

Hi,
Can we use SSO and User mapping at same time between Portal and SAP Backend system?
For some of the users the user id is different in both end.
After implementing the SSO... Will it affect the existing user mapping? and the system alias created for that?
If not, Can we use both SSO and user Mapping same time?

Hi VB,
In this case I suggest you create 2 systems one you might have created for users who are having common user ids in portal & at the backend system.
For the users whose ids are defeering you can create reference system and in user managemant property of that system
Authentication Ticket Type - Select -SAP Logon TicketSAP Assertion Ticket
Logon Method - UWPW
User Mapping Fields - {100,200,300}Client;Language
where 100,200,300 are the clients of the backend system.
Assign this system in the ivews.

User Mapping to R/3 - admin.pwdprotection=false but still pwd field appears

I am doing SSO using user mapping to R/3 system from Portal as the ids are different for Portal and R/3. 
I can access a transaction iview from R/3 successfully using user mapping(in SSO) but the problem is everytime a user changes his R/3 password, the mapped password is to be changed in Portal.Otherwise, unable to access transaction iview. 
1) I have changed the property ume.usermapping.admin.pwdprotection=false in configtool but still in User Admin > User mapping for system access , the password field is populated and while accessing the R/3, the password is being verified. I have seen in another system where the password field is not being asked after modifying the property to false, only id field is present. From the end user, under Personalize > User Profile > User Mapping for system, no systems are present as expected for mapping. Logon method in system is uidpw and mapping type is "Admin". 
Versions - Portal is NW7.0 SP18 and ECC is .0 EhP3. 
anybody faced the same problem? Is there a note to fix it? 
2)Also, in the User Admin > User mapping for system access , in the dropdown I can see the system aliases I have created in systems but not in System admin> sys config > Ume config > under User Mapping , I do not find any reference system. 
After first restart it was not there, after some time it has come, later it was coming as configured but invalid beside the system in braces in dropdown like abc(configured but invalid). Once I unselected, now it is no more available in dropdown. 
3) I have used diagtool to identify the problem. In the ticket, how do I see the mapped user? 
I am seeing only the following details.From the log -

But as per the SAP library link, I do not find a reference system because of problem 2 in the initial post.
Also, I have a screenshot of user admin where the password field itself is not present. If you can share your email id, I will send the scrnshot without pwd and mine with password.
2)I have seen this note. But, none of the 3 cases mentioned are applicable to me..user mapping is working just fine..Only reference system is not populated.
3) Becuase of 1, I was expecting to see mapped id alone or mapped id along with system name in logon tickets.

Error while creating ESS user in HRUSER

Dear all,
We are trying to implement ESS for one of our Client.Here we need to connect to the sandbox where all the HR Data is existing.When we create a ESS User and assign him to the Emoloyee we are getting the following error:
   *Error occurred when creating relationship for user P1126 to employee

     Message no. PWWW105
Diagnosis
     A user has been generated for an employee, but could not be assigned
     the employee (the "Communication" infotype in HR master data).
Procedure
     Please create the appropriate assignment manually in HR master data.*
We have tried of adding it manually by creating the Communication type.BUt No Luck

yes, Karsten is correct. Just some background:
"User Mapping not fully available.." finally means that user mapping is configured to use strong encryption, but the main crypto key for user mapping is missing. Usually, that's because "SAP Java Cryptographic Toolkit" and/or "JCE policy files for unlimited strength encryption" are not installed (or the server hasn't be restarted afterwards). The note will most likely help

Navigate to User Administration---->User Mapping
Under Search, Search for your user id in users.
You will get ID, Name with Edit Link and by the side "System" Drop Down Box which contains the name of the system Aliases that u created.
Click on Edit Link, It will ask for user and password. Give the user and password for R/3 System and clicked save. After this you will get an info like, Logon Data Saved.

Error in User Mapping

Hi All,
I have created a system from Application integrator PAR file and has added on extrafield to the system as I have three fields to be mapped with the target application.
On doing so when I try to preview the iView using this system for connecting the target application I am getting the following error.

I dont know what to write in place of the bold portion.
I have added the extra mapping field with the name Repository
I tried MappedRepository also that is also not working can sombody please help. I am getting null at the target application end for this extra field rest of the two I am able to recieve.

Hi Sid,
your template does not work because Repository is no standard parameter. You have to use a custom provider for this parameter. Refer to chapter 6 (Making Parameter Dynamic) of document <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/bf8cc890-0201-0010-00b1-8d04e5f4378a">"How toUse the Application Integrator"</a>.
Basically, you have to write a portal service which provides the parameter at runtime. If I understood you right the parameter Repository has to be set by the user in the user mapping dialog. Thus you can access the value using the IUserMappingService See the SAP Library for an <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/69/3482ee0d70492fa63ffe519f5758f5/frameset.htm">Example</a>.
