Can I change user name after running essbase from command prompt??

Hi,
I run essbase from command prompt and during this activity I was asked to give user name and password, but by mistake I put wrong user name and now wolud like to chanege it.
Is it possible??

It worked,
now I was able to connect to easbase from planning, I ve created sample aplication and initialize it but cannot connect to Eas to download data for sample application. After I run the validation there is now only one error displayed:
Essbase / Essbase Administration Services
FAILED Web App Availability of web application context (POL-MPIKULSKI 10080, eas)
Error: com.hyperion.cis.utils.BadResponseCodeException: Bad response code: 404
Recommended Action: Check application is started
I tried to start the eas from start>programs>epm system>essbase>administration services>start administration services(java embeded) but it didnt help.
can I start in in different way??

Repairing AME - dos command info required

dos command info required
Repairing AME which got damaged in CS3 after installing CS4
"Failed to initialise error".
Repair advice was to run (from the Command Prompt) the following. WMEncodingHelper.exe/regserver
It is found in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere CS3\
I can get to the directory line and see the .exe file but I do not remember how to run it !
Help please.

Agreed! Much as I love Firefox, I hate it's lack of a splash screen. Every single program on the planet that has a GUI should have as it's very first action when started to show a small splash screen, just so the user knows the command to start has been accepted. This action should be set to High Priority, interrupting all other actions such as virus scans, other programs closing, downloads, file copies, etc. Once the Splash loads, the rest of the start-up process can return to Normal priority and load in it's proper OS managed sequence.
I can't tell you how many times I've accidentally ended up with three or four browser windows open because there's no indication that anything is happening.

DATAEXPORT Calculation Command

I'm getting an error when using the DATAEXPORT Calculation Command.
The DATAEXPORT uses a FIX statement on a section of the Accounts dimension that contains Stored members only with no member formulas.
When I run the calc scrpit I get an error message on a total unrelated Dynamic Calc member in a section of the accounts dimension that isn't included in my FIX statement.
Please can someone explain/assist?

when a block is brought in from memory it gets expanded and evaluated even items you are not asking for, thus a dynamic formual might be triggered. I've not tried it, but you could try the config setting AGGRESSIVEBLKOPTIMIZATION TRUE to exclude formulas

Essbase Calculation Script taking more time in new environment

Hi Everyone:
We have four environments in our implementation.
1. DEV Environment - 64 bit Essbase Version 11.1.1.3
2. PreProd Environment - 32 bit Essbase Version 9.3.0
3. PreProd Environment - 64 bit Essbase Version 11.1.1.3
In the above mentioned environment PreProd Environment - 64 bit Essbase Version 11.1.1.3 is a newly installed
environment.
We have migrated our Application from PreProd Environment - 32 bit Essbase Version 9.3.0 to PreProd Environment - 64 bit Essbase Version 11.1.1.3. A calculation script that takes only 20 minutes in 32 bit PreProd is taking more than
5 and half hours in newly installed 64 bit PreProd.
We have also migrated our Application from DEV Environment - 64 bit Essbase Version 11.1.1.3 to PreProd Environment - 64 bit Essbase Version 11.1.1.3. The calculation script that takes only 20 minutes in 64 bit Dev is taking more than 5 and half hours in newly installed 64 bit PreProd.
All the server settings and cache setting everything looks similar in all the three environments.
Please advice us what are all the possibilities that creates the issue.

and aslo find the caches that we define:

The all above settings are identical both servers.
In New server ,only one script that is taking more time but remaining scripts are working fine with less time.
We also did one test cause that splitting the script in to multiple and executed ,in this cause the script where we are using direct assigning value from member(say A1) to another member(Say A2) is taking more time.But same scripts we executed in old server it executes fine.
Still we are not able to find out exact root cause for this issue.
Could please anyone help me to resove this issue.

Report script command equivalent for @relative calculation command

We have a calculation script which has a fix statement like below :
FIX( Grade, "w/o LO", "Line Options", AtLaunch, @DESCENDANTS("470.92"), @DESCENDANTS("Price Item"), @RELATIVE("Total Region", 0) )
We are trying to make a reportscript which gives us the format of the set of database being calculated.
So we are tranforming the above calc script commands into equivalent report script commands. We are struck with the @Relative command.
Can somebody tell us what is the equivalent report script command for @Relative calculation script function.

There's no direct analogue, but you can use the <LINK command along with <DESCENDANTS and <LEV to get pretty close. See: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/epm.931/html_esb_techref/rwriter/link.htm
JExport (if pre 9.3) or DATAEXPORT (if 9.3 or greater) may also be options and will in fact allow @RELATIVE to be used.

Problem in executing calc dim calculation command

why does calc dim does not work when xref function is used in account hierarchy......
while i was trying to use the said command essbase was giving error which specified "login credentials do not match"
and the log which created was" Error retrieving user by identity"

Essbase Calculation issues from version 6 to 7

Hi does any one know are there any calculation issue with essbase BSO cacl engine from version 6 to 7. Cube which calculates fine on 6 verison never ends to finish on version 7, does any one have ideas about number of max generations and levels possible under dense dimension in verison 7

Not sure if it was a 6.5.1 to 7.1.5 issue, or if it was that 6.5.1 was on Win2K and 7.1.5 is on Solaris 5.9. But, I had one calc script that for total company on Windows and 6.5.1 ran in about 2 1/2 minutes, but same calc on same outline on Solaris and 7.1.5 ran in over 2 hours.
Hyp support was able to offer some suggestions on Unix settings, and some undocumented script features that got the runtime down to around 10 minutes, but didn't get any farther than that.
Luckily for me there also was some functions that were not resolving correctly in the script so I had to take the functions out (turned a 100 line script into an 800 line script), and wouldn't you know it that fixed the slow run time as well.

Essbase calculation message

Hi
We see following happening in our essbase environment.
1. User submits data from a custom lock/send template.
2. The customised template also runs a calc after the lock/send from the same button.
When we look at the Application log on server logs we see that the calc is finished. But the Essbase Admin Services session manager still keeps showing the "calculate" session. This calculation session from EAS session manager window goes away only after a "network error" in the Application log on the server.

Network error [145]: Cannot Receive Data
Any idea why would this happen.

Call me crazy but I would focus my attention the lock&send template
Here are the questions that I would ask myself.
1) Does this sheet work for any users or do all have the problem?
2) Can I recreate the issue?
3) Reboot the pc, open only the lock&send template. Does the error still occur?
4) Does the code behind the button use the tool kit or the menu equivalents? i.e. do the functions begin with EssV or EssMenu?
5) can you display the return codes for the lock & send? What are they?
6) Look in the code and find the calc script name. Using the Essbase menu while in the template, Select lock, Send and then from the menu, calculate. Does this work?
7) What version of excel are you running? has there been an upgrade?
8) how big is the workbook? Workbooks corrupt over time. Do all users open the same book or do they have local copies?
9) In Excel, find the last cell that has ever had data in the sheet. If the last row is 65,000 then essbase may be waiting for Excel. Find this with Edit->Go To.., Special & then select last cell.
10)In the Essbase addin, check the message level. There may be a message that you are not seeing. Essbase->Options then global.
This list is off the top of my head & not in the order of importance, Sorry.

All of the above hierarchy are of implicit sharing. I tagged all the children as Never Share. But is there a way so that I can get the consolidation of all children only to Accounts member??

If you want to force the account member to be calculated, you could put a dynamic formula on it. either to add the indivual members or to sum the level zero members

For ARABIC USERS who cant use their calculators on E72:
Menu>Ctl. Panel>Settings>General>Personalisation>Language:
Phone Language: Arabic
Writing Language: English
Number Format: Arabic or English
*Notes:
- The Number format option will only be visible if the phone language is set to ARABIC.
- The calculator will work in ARABIC if the 'Writing Language' will be set to ENGLISH, and the number format set to ARABIC
Hope this helps the arabic users. And I hope that this thing gets fixed on the next firmware release.

Essbase Calculation Time

Hi All,
There is a history cube, there is calc script which used to complete withnin 2 hours.We added a member to a sparse dimension.The cube load process was initiated and the calc script took 20 hoours to complete :(.Its using parelle calculation,kindly advice how to find the root cause for this.

Command Info spanning-tree optimize bpdu transmission

Cannot find any information on CCO, anyone have a link or definition of this command ??

"spanning-tree optimize bpdu transmission" enables the switch to send multiple BPDUs from the interrupt context thereby reducing the CPU usage for the transmission function.
Note that not all platforms support it.
