Essbase spreadsheet addin on Excel 2010

Hi,
I am searching answer for one simple question. Can anyone please help me in that?
Qns: Does essbase (11.1.2.2) excel addin works on MS excel 2010 (32 bit) (without running Tim's cmd file)?
Is anyone using essbase (11.1.2.2) excel addin on MS excel 2010 (32 bit) ?
Regards
SB

Yes it does run on Excel 2010 32bit, sometimes you may need to make changes to environment variables such as the path but you shouldnt need to launch Excel from a script.

  • Re: Essbase Add-in and Excel 2010

I have a user who is getting the following error:
Excel experienced a serious problem with the 'c:\oracle\middleware\epmsystem11r1\products\exceladdin\bin\essexcin.xll" add-in. . . .Do you want to disable this add-in?
Do we need to reinstall the Essbase add-in ?
I have had the user disable other add-ins via 'File > Options > Add-ins > Excel add-ins and that didn't resolve the problem.
Are there any compatibility issues with 64 bit Excel?
Also, after installing Essbase add-in, what are the items that should appear
    'File > Options > Add-ins > Excel add-ins
    Excel version : 2010
Add-in version Essbase Spreadsheet add-in, Fusion Edition 11.1.2
I would appreciate a quick response.

Also, after installing Essbase add-in, what are the items that should appear
    'File > Options > Add-ins > Excel add-ins
The user has the following items:
    Essexcin.
    In2Hyp Essbase ribbon.
    Oracle Essbase Query Designer Addin.
The items which I have in 'File > Options > Add-ins > Excel add-ins is:
    In2Hyp Essbase Ribbon
Oracle Essbase OLAP Server DLL (Non- Unicode)
    Oracle Essbase Query Designer Addin.
Could you please kindly help me understand the difference?
Do you recommend reinstalling the Essbase add-in ?
Thank you very much for your help.

  • Essbase Add-in and Excel 2010

    Hi All,
I have a user who has just had Windows 7 and excel 2010 installed and is able to connect to Essbase through the add-in but when he tries to retrieve data it completely crashes his excel which shuts down immediately.
As far as I have read the add-in does not support 2010 64-bit but I have win7 and excel 2010 and do not have the same problem and I am to retrieve data with no issues. We both have the 32-bit version of 2010 so I'm not sure why his excel is shutting down.
We are on 11.1.1.3 of Essbase
Any pointers or experiences you can give are appreciated
    Thanks
    Luke

Is there any other addin installed on this machine, if yes try the retrieval after disabling that addin.
    If not
Try un-install and re-install of Essbase Excel Addin

  • Problem with solver DLL load and Excel 2010

Since upgrading from Office 2007 to Office 2010 we've started to experience a problem with the solver addin when our own analytics addins is also loaded. I have found a solution, but I think it may highlight a problem with the latest version of the solver
    addin for Excel 2010.
Firstly, to describe the problem - the solver addin seems to load normally when Excel 2010 starts up, however when a "Solve" is performed we are seeing a "File not found: Solver32.dll" error at the final "Keep Solver Solution" stage. This only happens our
own analytics addin is loaded. We've been careful to make sure that our own addin does not change the working directory and also that it has been built against the correct Excel 2010 SDK libraries. We do not see this error with any other versions of Excel
running on the same PC or any other environment.
After some searching we found other people were having similar problems and after a bit more probing I found a solution that works - but that I'm not very happy with.
If I copy the Solver32.dll from:
      C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\Library\SOLVER
        (where it was installed)
    into :
      C:\Windows\SysWOW64
(where Windows 7 keeps its 32 bit system DLLs)
    then the problem goes away.
This seems to indicate that somehow Office 2010 has a problem that causes it to search in the wrong folder for the Solver32.dll when another addin is loaded in between the original Solver32.XLAM at start up and the use of the Solver in the sheet (which eventually
requires this DLL to be loaded). Oddly, this only happens after a solution is found and "Keep Solver Solution" is selected - and I'm not sure why it's not looking for Solver32.dll any earlier.
This is not a problem with any earlier versions of Excel and I suspect is a bug in the Office14/LIBRARY/SOLVER implementation. Is there any way to get this followed up?
    Thanks,
    Andy

I'm facing the same issue. With an Excel VSTO add-in we're building. When the add-in is enabled the assembly solver32.dll can't be found. With our add-in disabled the DLL is resolved as (Sysinternals Process Monitor trace):

  • Excel 2010 & Essbase Add-In

    Hi,
We are using Essbase version 9.3.1. Recently, some of my users have upgraded to Excel 2010. They had been using it fine for about a month, and then all of a sudden, they started getting the error "Microsoft Excel cannot access the file 'C:Hyperion\AnalyticServices\bin\essexcln.xll' whenever they try and use the Essbase Add-In.
The only work around that I have found is that if they navigate to that path and click on the add-in and then open Excel, it will work fine, but obviously, that is not the optimal solution.
I have gone and downloaded Essbase version 9.3.3 and installed on the machine, but the same error is occurring. I don't see how this could be a problem, seeing that usually it is OK to use a newer version of the add-in, even if the overall product is on the older version.
We are planning on upgrading all of our products to 9.3.3 in the next couple of months, but I have a feeling that will not solve the add-in/Excel issue.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi ,
The error which you are getting is due the Excel. Because Excel Disables
    the Essbasee Addin some time.
When you get the same error follow the below steps.
    1) Open Excel
    2) Go to Home menu
    3) Options -> Add-ins -> Select Disable Add-Ins
    4) Select the Essbase Add-ins and Click on Enable.
    5) Click Ok.
    6) Restart Excel
    Hope this helps.

  • Move a Excel 2010 Dokument Addin Project (Visual Studio 2012) to another devleopment machine with Visual Studio 2012 , but Office 2013

    Hi
we do have the following situation
on computer A there is a Excel Document Addin development project , Visual Studio 2012, Office 2010 installed. All works fine.
we would like to bring the project to another machine with Visual Studio 2012, but Office 2013 installed.
Visual Studio can not build the project. It says that the application is not installed on the machine (though Excel 2013 is installed , but not Excel 2010) It seems to have a problem with the
    vbproj.
In other forums I found a hint that "Hostpackage = ..} needs to be set accordingly in the vbproj. I created then a "empty Excel-Addin project" under Visual Studio , looked at
the Hostpackage entry, put that into the vbproj of "problem project. It still does not work.
It would be great if anyone could help.
    Thomas

    Hello Eugene
Problem is that it says that projectboard (the name of the main project) can not be loaded. All other projects in the solution can be loaded. Strange thing is , now that I try to create a empty excel Project it says that according to Excel security settings
it can not be generated !?
I opened then Excel and set all Trust Center settings to "Default" - but no effect. I really have no idea what is wrong ..!?

  • Errors opening Excel 2007 spreadsheets in Excel 2010

When I try to open spreadsheets created in Excel 2007 with Excel 2010, I get the error:  "Excel found unreadable contenct in 'file name'.  Do you want to recover the contents of this workbook?  If you trust the source of this workbook, click
Yes".  Then a Repairs dialog box comes up saying:  "Excel completed file level validation and repair. Some parts of this workbook may have been repaired or discarded.    Removed Part: Print options."  File then opens fine.
We receive Excel 2007 from various sources.  One of my problem is that we are just starting to migrate people to Windows 7 and Office 2010, with most people still on Office XP.  The file format converter for Excel 2002/2003 does not work with these
Excel 2007 files.  The other problem is that we have macros that are used to open Excel files and import data into other Excel files.  Pretty hard to modify these macros to allow for some files that are going to pop up this error, and others that
    do not.
What is causing this problem, and what fix is available?  We have asked that people save the Excel files in Excel 97-03 format before sending to us, with mixed results.

    Hi,
Thank you for using Excel IT Pro Discussions forum.
Are you using Office 2010 RTM version? If it is trial version or beta version, I suggest upgrading it to the RTM version.
First, please check if this KB article helps:
Error message when you try to open a workbook in Excel 2007: "Excel found unreadable content in Book_Name"
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929766
Note: The steps are for Excel 2007. The steps in Excel 2010 are similar.
If the problem persists, let’s also check the following settings in Excel 2010.
    ========
    1.
In Excel 2010, click File > Options > Trust Center > File block settings.
    2.
    Check the checkboxes before:
Excel 2007 and later Wordbooks and Templates
Excel 2007 and later Macro-Enabled Workbooks and Templates
Excel 2007 and later Add-in Files
Excel 2007 and later Binary Workbooks
Then, try to open the Excel 2007 file in Excel 2010 and check the results again.

I created a spreadsheet using Microsoft office 2010 Excel.  When I open the sheet using Numbers, the formatting changes.  How do I fix this?

If you plan to share or work with people who regulary use MS Excel you should not try to use this in Numbers.  You will have constant problems with how each program translates the formatting.
If you want to use Numbers, use it exclusively.  If it is for your job use the tool your company uses.

  • NetWeaver won't download spreadsheet on Win 7/Excel 2010 machine

Apologies right up front - I know almost nothing about SAP.  A customer is communicating part needs via the Internet using a "PAG WebGUI" page and choosing the ZM_DELSEQ_MES option (I don't know if that is company-specific or not).  We can view the data we need, but when we choose Export, then Spreadsheet, the computer locks up and the spreadsheet does not download.  We can use exactly the same procedure on a Windows XP SP3/Internet Explorer 6.0/Excel 2003 computer with no problem.  The problem computers are all running Windows 7 / Internet Explorer 8 / Excel 2010.
The customer's helpdesk has given up on trying to find a solution so I am desperately searching for help.  Thanks in advance for any assistance or re-direction to a more appropriate forum.
    Michelle K.

Thank you for that response.  It appears that our Excel 2010 has patches installed.  The version number is 14.0.6112.5000 which I believe is beyond SP1.
We are not able to change the patch levels of the customer's SAPGui.  Do you have any other suggestions?

  • Problem: Excel Add-in with Excel 2010

I recently installed the essbase spreadsheet add-in onto Excel 2010 and it worked fine,(previosuly there was 9.3.1 Excel add-in and i removed and installed Excel add-in 11.1.2.2) but after some days it is giving beolw messgae:-
Excel experienced a serious problem with the 'c:\hyperion\analyticservices\bin\essexcln.xll' addin. . . .Do you want to disable this add-in?
Has anyone else seen this error, know of a work around or whether a new version is in the works?

This generally happens if your excel gets crashed due to some reason / your system gets force shutdown. As suggested above, you can enable it.
Note: When you get that message to disable, do not click yes.

  • HELP!!! VBA & Essbase Add-in for Excel

HelloI am trying to automate some spreadsheets in excel using some vba code. I am able to use code to connect and retrieve, but i would like to be albe to select zoom functions from "Options" on the Essbase menu. Does anyone know how to do this? The code i use to connect is as follows:Declare Function EssVConnect Lib "ESSEXCLN.XLL" (ByVal sheetname As Variant, ByVal username As Variant, ByVal password As Variant, ByVal server As Variant, ByVal application As Variant, ByVal database As Variant) As LongThen to execute this code i have the following:x = EssVConnect(Null, "username", "password", "192.168.0.1", "Tech_99r", "Tech_99r")I hope this is clear, if not then reply and i will try and make this clearer.

The VBA commands you are looking for are EssVZoomIn and EssVZoomOut.In Excel (with spreadsheet addin active) go to Help > Essbase Help.Expand the section titled "Essbase Spreadsheet Toolkit", then expand the section "Visual Basic for Applications Functions", lastly, expand the section "VBA Functions from A to Z".There you will find all the different comands available through the Spreadsheet toolkit and the proper syntax for each.

  • Excel 2010 Synchronize List with SharePoint List using VBA

I have used and loved the interaction between Excel and SharePoint for many generations of both solutions.  It's a wonderful opportunity to integrate the familiarity and simplicity of Excel (formatting, ease of use, availability) with the data storage
and centralized list capabilities of SharePoint.  Right?
When upgrading to Excel 2010, I have noticed with much dismay that much of the inherent easy to use features of previous versions were effectively stripped from this newest version.  Much research, time and energy has been spent working around and resolving
the deficiency.  One Microsoft based article,
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/930006, has provided the mechanics behind utilizing the "hidden" functionality... although, this capability to use VBA to create the synchronized list was available in previous versions.  However, once Microsoft
published this article to this "hidden" functionality... I feel that the behavior should be supported by Microsoft in some way.  OK?
Revised instructions to reproduce the problem:
    1. Create a SharePoint list with 20 dummy records.
    - Note the List Name  ##LIST_NAME##
    - Note the View GUID  ##VIEW_GUID##
    - Note SharePoint Base URL  ##BASE_URL##
    2. REVISED... In Excel 2010, save the file as Compatible "Excel 97-2003 Workbook".  Close the file and reopen.  Create a connected table (ListObject) in Excel using the article above to the SharePoint list.  Use Sample VBA code
    below:
    Sub LinkedSharePointList()
    ActiveSheet.ListObjects.Add SourceType:=xlSrcExternal,_
        Source:=Array(##BASE_URL## & "/_vti_bin", ##LIST_NAME##, _
        ##VIEW_GUID##), LinkSource:=True, Destination:=Range("A1")
    End Sub
    3. OOPS REVISED this item.  The problem is actually with ROW 21... So, update record on row 21... (no matter where the table is located... (if the "Destination" is "A1", then the problem is with ID=20, but if the Table is
shifted down to say A12, then ID=9 on row 21).  Anyway... make a simple change to that record... and you'll see the ID immediately change.... as if it's a NEW record.  WEIRD!  Note: If the sheet is protected, then an error is displayed
indicating that a "read-only" record cannot be updated (referring to the ID cell in column A for the current row).
    4. Now "synchronize" the list with excel.  The former record is still in the list unchanged AND there is a NEW record in the list holding the changes.  There are a number of problems that seem to ONLY occur when something changes to ROW
21.... Next, try to copy/paste multiple records across multiple rows that intersect with ROW 21.  Yikes!!
I look forward to hearing others' experience!
    Thanks!
    Mark

  • Trying to connect Excel 2010 to Oracle

    Hello,
I am trying to connect Excel 2010 directly to the Oracle database at work. I was hoping to combine VBA and SQL to automate queries without having to use SQL Developer or the bespoke enterprise software to then export the data into a spreadsheet. I have downloaded the ODBC driver and installed it onto my PC. I have tried to configure the connection and the tnsnames.ora file but it will not connect (I can get the exact error from work tomorrow).
I have an XML file that contains all of the connection details (such as the ports, passwords and the server name) for the databases that I need to access. There isn’t anyone who can help me at work as the former IT manager has left and my current manager has very little technical knowledge.
The network is managed by a different part of the business at an external site containing all of the servers. Although I have an administrator account, it is very restricted so I cannot use the command prompt but I can install software.
I would be grateful for any advice. If it helps the operating system I am using is Windows Vista 32-Bit. I am unsure which version of Oracle we are using (it might be 10g but is there anything I could type into SQL Developer that would display the version of Oracle I am using?).
Many thanks in advance and sorry for probably not explaining things very well,
    Matt

I think I am going to give in with ODBC for the time being and I don’t want to waste any of your time.
Just to make everything clear in case I missed something important out:
I ran the select banner from v$version statement and retreived:
    Oracle Database 10g Release 10.2.0.5.0 - 64bit Production
    PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.5.0 - Production
    "CORE 10.2.0.5.0 Production"
TNS for 64-bit Windows: Version 10.2.0.5.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.5.0 - Production
I originally installed the latest version of 11g ODBC and reinstalled it as I didn't think it was working. I then installed 10g version today but I couldn't find ODBC.exe file like I could in the 11g version.
I can't get the tnsnames.ora file off the database server as I can't connect to it. I know the server name but I think I may be restricted from accessing it as the network and user accounts are really locked down. I read somewhere when I was searching that there was a way of generating the tnsnames.ora file which would be quite useful as there wouldn't be any mistakes.
Like I have mentioned before I can’t access the command prompt and the only way I can connect to the database is through SQL Developer (which I have all the connections for in an XML file).
I tried the ADO method and it didn't work, but after getting home and trying something I know how to resolve the ActiveX Objects related error I was getting, so maybe I could get this method to work.
It is just frustrating that I know this could work but things aren’t as simple as I thought although the advice I have received has been really useful. Thanks for all the help.

  • Smartview 11.1.2.1.0/Excel 2010

I am using Smartview version 11.1.2.1.0 and am having issues trying to access Essbase in Excel 2010. If I try to access member selections from my Smartview menu Excel 2010 just freezes. If I try to just type in the member selections and refresh I will get #NoAccess for my results but I am connected if I look at the sheet information.
Thanks for any help you can offer

Thanks for the information, but one last question. Where could I find more information about this Unpublished Bug 9955285?, I am trying to look for more information about if it's going to be fix in any patch but I don't find anything
    Thanks a lot
