/etc/init.d/oracleasm configure do not create /dev/oracleasm mountpoint

Dear All,
I have to put my question like this, I am following humter_rac10gr2_iscsi. I have done everything as per documentation and the results so far have been ok. When i come to the part where we have to create ASM volumes and when i after installing asm library give the following command:
/etc/init.d/oracleasm configure
The commd runs sucessfully but misses the folling line that is in documentation:
Creating /dev/oracleasm mount point: [OK]
Because of this miss I guess last time when i reached the poing during dbca database creation where it shows ASM volumes, it did not discover any ASM volumes and i was stuck at this point.
Kindly help me on this?
Regards, Imran baig

Hello,
Well i run /etc/init.d/oracleasm configure command as root user.
Yesh I have just checked i can cd to /dev/oracleasm/disks and can find
VOLl VOL2 VOL3 VOL4 there
I have delete first and then create ASM volumes and now i can scan and list then from both nodes.
/etc/init.d/oracleasm status says that
Checking if ASM is loaded: [OK]
Checking if /dev/oracleasm is mounted: [OK] :)
But id did not show it during configuration and similary when i run dbca at the screen where to specify volumes, nothing is there even when i cange disk path to ORCL:VOL* there is nothing....
Kindly help with the dbca configurations so that it pick up the ASM VOLUMES.
Regards,
Imran

    Hi all,
    Oracle unbreakable linux

I got this error while mark ing the disks for use by ASMLib
    /etc/init.d/oracleasm createdisk VOL1 [failed]
I already performed the steps mentioned below
    uname -rm
    Ex:
    # uname -rm
    2.6.9-22.ELsmp i686
The example shows that this is a 2.6.9-22 kernel for an SMP (multiprocessor) box using Intel i686 CPUs.
Use this information to find the correct ASMLib packages on OTN:
    1. Point your Web browser to http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/linux/asmlib/index.html
    2. Select the link for your version of Linux.
    3. Download the oracleasmlib and oracleasm-support packages for your version of Linux
    4. Download the oracleasm package corresponding to your kernel. In the example above, the oracleasm-2.6.9-22.ELsmp-2.0.0-1.i686.rpm package was used.
Next, install the packages by executing the following command as root:
    rpm -Uvh oracleasm-kernel_version-asmlib_version.cpu_type.rpm \
    oracleasmlib-asmlib_version.cpu_type.rpm \
    oracleasm-support-asmlib_version.cpu_type.rpm

We got this error when creating asm disk using /etc/init.d/oracleasm create disk. The disks are HDS and EMC Powerpath. Any advices are greatly appreciated.

  • LogiTech QuickCam webcam does not create /dev/video0

I have followed the Arch Webcam Wiki, and read numerous posts to get my QuickCam working and I can not seem to get it to create the /dev/video0 .
dmesg sees that it is connected:
usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 4
usb 1-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
I am using the spca5xx driver which I got from http://mxhaard.free.fr/spca5xx.html and I was able to compile and install it with no problem.
    lsmod | grep spca shows:
    lsmod | grep spca

I tried recompiling the kernel as it was suggested in a few of the WebCam posts in this forum but I still do not get /dev/video0.  Any ideas??
    Thank you.

Thanks for your help.  I took the webcam back and exchanged it for a QuickCam Fusion.  This cam uses the the USB Video class drivers available at http://linux-uvc.berlios.de/ and I was able to get the webcam to work, but only in Ekiga, no other apps support it at this time.  I will just wait until applications are updated and support it.

  • [Solved] Can't boot; udev not creating /dev/disk/

After doing a system upgrade I can no longer boot.  I get the message that /dev/disk/by-uuid/{device id} cannot be found.  (There is no /dev/disk/ path at all).  I tried changing the grub boot path to dev/sdaX, but /dev/sda?? are also not created.
I have a Fedora rescue CD lying around, and if I boot from that I can see and mount the boot device (/dev/disk/by-uuid/ is created), so I don't think it's a hardware issue.

Booting from a NetInstaller CD worked.
A couple of notes in case others have the same issue.
I had to turn on networking before I could run pacman.  I turned on networking by issuing these commands (not sure of the proper order for them or if they're all necessary, but it worked):
    /etc/rc.d/networking start
    ip link set eth0 up
    dhcpd
I then ran through the steps listed at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pa … nger_boot.  , but I got errors on "mkinitcpio -p linux" so I added "pacman -S linux," which seemed to include mkinitcpio, but I ran mkinitcpio again afterwards just to be sure and got no errors.

  • Motorola W385 does not create /dev/cu.usbmodem device

Hello, I have a relatively difficult issue...
I am trying to use Moto4lin, complied myself from svn, the binary image on the site also has the same problem.
When I plug in my phone there is no /dev/cu.usbmodem.* device created.
As a matter of fact, the usb device is not detected period. The usb device has vendor ID 0x22b8 and product ID 0x2b44.
I am able to get this device to work with moto4lin in linux by first loading the usbserial module with: modprobe usbserial vendor=0x22b8 product=0x2b44.
I am able to get my friends RAZOR to work perfectly fine with my compiled moto4lin. (/dev/cu.usbmodem is created and I am able to connect the phone).
The device is simply not being recognized by the kext. I am thinking that the Info.plist simply does not contain the specified product/vendor id.
All that I need to know is which kext is the one that I should append to.
I tried InternalUSBModem.kext; however, that seems to be apple only hardware.
I know that this is an obscure problem and any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I also fully understand that anything recommended is my problem if it does not work.
    Thank You in advance.

  • Installing Oracle - /etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure command missing?

I've AMD64 system with Ubuntu 11.04 installed. It's been rough ride for me to install oracle-xe-universal. I've already spent more than 2 days on this. Still unsuccessful.
    1) First I downloaded the packages libaio_0.3.104-1_i386.deb and oracle-xe-universal_10.2.0.1-1.1_i386.deb
    2) Then I ran
sudo apt-get install bc (ran fine)
    sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture libaio_0.3.104-1_i386.deb (ran fine)
sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture oracle-xe-universal_10.2.0.1-1.1_i386.deb (gave me dependency error for libc6 (>= 2.3.2), I modified the control file to remove dependency and rebuilt the package) (now worked fine)
Oracle xe is now installed. Then I tried to start the DB it started but it's HTTP client never started. So I decided to uninstall the oracle-xe=universal. None of the sudo apt-get remove oracle-xe-universal command's didn't worked for me. So i went for manual uninstallation directions as per oracle link.
    I ran the following command-
    Manually uninstalling Oracle 10g
    sudo rm -rf /usr/lib/oracle /etc/oratab /etc/init.d/oracle-xe /etc/sysconfig/oracle-xe /usr/share/doc/oracle_xe /usr/share/doc/oracle_xe_client
Then I again ran the following command to install oracle-xe
    sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture oracle-xe-universal_10.2.0.1-1.0_i386.deb
See below what I got as the output-
    rocky@ubuntu:~/git/mygit/edas2/libaio$ sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture oracle-xe-universal_10.2.0.1-1.1_i386.deb

    rocky@ubuntu:~/git/mygit/edas2/libaio$ sudo /etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure
    sudo: /etc/init.d/oracle-xe: command not found
    rocky@ubuntu:~/git/mygit/edas2/libaio$
Even in applications menu I don't see the if oracle has been installed.
So i conclude first time installation was ok but somehow http client didn't worked.
After manual uninstallation, second installation didn't even loaded/installed the oracle-xe in init.d directory.
    Please help here.

Any reason you are not using a supported OS?
And any reason you are running two threads on the same problem? /etc/init.d/oracle-xe is missing?

    sudo rm -rf /usr/lib/oracle /etc/oratab /etc/init.d/oracle-xe /etc/sysconfig/oracle-xe /usr/share/doc/oracle_xe /usr/share/doc/oracle_xe_client
Then I again ran the following command to install oracle-xe
    sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture oracle-xe-universal_10.2.0.1-1.0_i386.deb
See below what I got as the output-
    rocky@ubuntu:~/git/mygit/edas2/libaio$ sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture oracle-xe-universal_10.2.0.1-1.1_i386.deb
dpkg: warning: overriding problem because --force enabled:

Now if I try to run the following command, it says command not found-
    rocky@ubuntu:~/git/mygit/edas2/libaio$ sudo /etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure
    sudo: /etc/init.d/oracle-xe: command not found
    rocky@ubuntu:~/git/mygit/edas2/libaio$
Even in applications menu I don't see the if oracle has been installed.
So i conclude first time installation was ok but somehow http client didn't worked.
After manual uninstallation, second installation didn't even loaded/installed the oracle-xe in init.d directory.
Please help here.Edited by: EdStevens on Jul 24, 2011 4:56 PM

  • Change version not creates some times in GOA

    Hello All
there is one piece of field in GOA will not create a change version.
as i know any piece of data changes will create a new versiona and workflow will get triggered.
i wanted to know which field changes will not create a Change version in GOA ?
    any ppointers -->docuemnts ,, etc .
    muthu

some times change version was not created and approval also not trigered .
From BBP_PD, do you see the new historical version at the bottom of the page? More importantly, was your change recorded in the document?
so i wanted to see what are the field changes in GOA will not create a change version.
should i look only CDI ?
I don't think CDHDR or CDITM would determine if or not the fields would create version. Versioning is very SRM specific.
i could not see any any docuemnts. for eg. if i attach any change version must create right?
I would think so - when you just add a new attachment, a new version should be created. However, that said, I still think the table BBPD_COMP_FIELDS is the place to define the triggering of new version.
versions created. but logs are captured but i donot see attachemnts,
Come again? What logs did you mean? Did you mean that you added an attachment but after you saved it (release the contract), the attachment disappeared?

I want to use utl_file package and write a text file. I want that text file to be stored in my local machine. The init.ora parameter in the Oracle database server points to the Server path. Also Some 50 oraclients are installed for that DB server and each of us want to have our own local machine path for the text file to be created. Is there a way of doing this?

  • [FTP Install] cannot install as /mnt/etc is not created

Hi, happy new year to everyone
i've been unable to install Arch for a long time on my desktop system with raid/lvm2 partition. It runs fine on my old laptop.
Tonight I gave it another try with froscon install CD (August 2008), choosing FTP Install as usual, and end up stuck @ the same point.
Following http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ins … AID_or_LVM , everything goes well up to "Configure Arch", where /mnt/etc is *not* created, making this step a dead end one.
There are 2 Sata HDDs with identical partition :
    /dev/sda1 * 1 15 120456 83 Linux
    /dev/sda2 16 10011 80292870 5 Extended
    /dev/sda5 16 2564 20474811 fd Linux raid autodetect
    /dev/sda6 2565 5113 20474811 fd Linux raid autodetect
    /dev/sda7 5114 9880 38290896 fd Linux raid autodetect
    /dev/sda8 9881 10011 1052226 82 Linux swap / Solaris
    /dev/sda1 is standard /boot
/dev/sd[ab]5 is a raid0 array with 3 partitions, the 3rd beeing free / for Arch setup.
/dev/sd[ab]6 is a raid1 array with 3 partitions for personnal data
/dev/sd[ab]7, raid0 array with 2 partitions that i can share for extra data (like /tmp)
    /dev/sd[ab]8 are swap
I can activate existing RAID and LVM volumes, make a filesystem on /dev/systems/system3 array, mount it on /mnt then /sda1 on /mnt/boot. I also mounted other systems lvm partitions which went fine.
Configuring the network, downloading and installing base packages go fine.
Configure Arch gives me *empty* configuration files. i.e. Vi says "New DIRECTORY" for every configuration file.
It's been about a year I'm stuck there
    Any advice's welcome.

Woow. Was able to finish the installation as soon as i choose "CD install" rather than "FTP install"
I know this is probably the first time in years i install a distro from the CD, so it might why i couldn't install Arch so many times.
Note that the issue with configure Arch had occured with every ISO i booted with since over a year

  • /etc/init.d/oracle-xe not found

    Hi,
I installed oracle-xe-universal 10g on debian 4 after that manually deistalled
    see:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/xe/files/install.102/b25144/toc.htm#CIHDDHJD
    then I installed xe again.
My second installation was ok. But I didn't find /etc/init.d/oracle-xe for configuration (First installation worked fine, init.d/oracle-xe existed). 2nd installation didn't display oracle-xe icons in applications menu at Gnome too.
If I try reinstall this in Gnome /etc/init.d/oracle-xe will be contained in package installer/includes files - but not relly.
    Could you help me please.

Yes dpkg has a purge flag.
dpkg --purge packagename will remove the entire package + support/config files for it.
    Use carefully.

  • SRM alert configurations for SUS ASN not created in SRM SUS system

    Hi All,
We are trying to configure the SRM ASN alerts with the alert category SRM_SUS_AVIS ( Alerts for ASN-SUS) by the same way we did for the SRM_BID_INV for bidinvitation in different client and scenario.
Is the configuration for SUS anyway different than EBP? ( I have posted another thread for bid alert doubt and later it was configured and working fine sometime ago)
If the config for SUS ASN alert is different then what is that?
With our configurations in SLAERT and ALRTCATDEF, and thru RSALERTTEST job we are getting alerts for PO not viewed and Order confirmation not created.
But we are not able to get alerts for ASN  not created.
Can anyone throw some light on this please?
    Best regards,
    Sridhar
