Exactfit param in markup ignored by FireFox

Hi,
Iwas struggling to resize a small movie in the header of my
page, so decided to use the exactfit param:
<param name="scale" value="Exactfit" />
works a treat in IE, however in Firefox it is 'ignored' and
does not fit. Any workaround ?

Maybe they changed it. It says "exactFit" in my Flash6 docs
but in checking the html it didn't use either.. it did it this way:
This line is used by IE
<PARAM NAME=scale VALUE=exactfit>
This line is used by FireFox and Netscape and others
<EMBED src="test.swf" quality=high scale=exactfit
bgcolor=#BB9CBA WIDTH="640" (etc)

  • Why is the attribute "leftmargin" in the HTML body tag ignored by Firefox?

    Check f.i. http://www.vaartips.nl/tipa.htm and see the difference (left margin) between FF and IE.
    De "leftmargin 20" is ignored (not working) in FF (see code of the page)

  • Download Choice is Ignored by Firefox even though specified.

    I have Firefox 3.6.16
    When I try to download an email attachment with suffix "pps" (Power Point) Firefox ALWAYS displays a window for me to choose, EVEN THOUGH I have already specified to automatically use Power Point for Windows.
    Also, sometimes, when I display Options/Applications the entry for Power Point does not show up --I am forced to do a "search" and then it immediately shows up and stays up.
    Yet all the other entries seem to always display.
    Any thoughts?
    P.S. Just in case, my Windows XP Pro is in bad shape and I have a very old PC. I am in the process of switching to a newer PC with Windows 7 (I don't know whether this has anything to do with the above problem).

  • Easy way to center swf vertically in IE & Firefox??

    I've scoured the internet & forums looking for a simple way to center my swf on an html page, both horizonally & vertically...
    I tried css but it seems I have to set a div height... at least for it to work in firefox, anyhow.
    I'd prefer the swf to center according to how tall the user makes the browser window...
    Anyone got some simple code for me? Pleeeaaasssee?

    I think I worked out a fix.... works in IE 7 & FIrefox 3.6.3, at least. Halelujia!

  • Firefox is constantly closing itself and giving me a message saying it apologized for the inconvenience and asking me to send Mozilla a report.

    This has gotten to be just ignorant now Firefox. Of course it is Sunday and I can't even talk to anyone there until tomorrow!! Firefox has been crashing over and over again on me. Sometimes before it even opens it goes to a crash error report saying "Firefox has needed to close. Please send crash report to Mozilla.". This happens so much that last night I changed back to Explorer as my browser and moved all of my bookmarks there. This is a new issue and I have not made any recent changes to my computer. I am on a Dell XPS 8300 and running Windows 7 Home Premium. Nothing new has been installed at all and no changes made, this just started last night and has become so frequent that Firefox is now an unusable browser. It does not have a pattern that I can see though and just randomly crashes itself. Sometimes it crashes from the start page, sometimes when you go to a website and almost every time I have tried to log into and check my Email.

    I switched back to FF 5 because 6 keeps crashing - even when I have left the room! It crashes probably a dozen times during a 3 hour computer session, even if I am not using it but it is open. It is quite bizarre and I have never experienced this before. FF 6 is also very slow and hangs and just seems to have substantial problems. I will wait a while longer before upgrading to 6 to see if I see anyone reporting that this obvious problem has been fixed.

  • Unable to download "source code" error message (on a Mac, this is not happening in safari so it seems to be a firefox problem)

    Just in the last 24 hours I'm not able to download using Firefox for Yahoo mail. Tried it on Safari and it worked, but prefer Firefox as browser. I'm on a MacBook Pro. The message I get is:
    "....part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.
    Try again later, or contact the server administrator."

    I've had this problem for 3 years. And I can see that questions were posted by others in 2006. The only answer that works for me is to ignore the Firefox error message. Save the document from downloads onto my desktop. Change the .ashx ending to .pdf and confirm that. Then it opens in Preview.
    Neither the Shockwave nor the Adobe tricks work on my mac.
    How come Firefox can has not dealt with this error 4 years on and more "modernising" websites use this format? Please?

  • A link from another programme (Adobe Reader, eMail) take almost 2 minutes to show up in firefox. A link from a webpage in firefox opens in less than 2 seconds

    Firefox v17.0, windows7.
    this is not related to the web page, all URLs present this issue.
    firefox is the default browser

    Hi,
    You can try to '''Associate a file type or protocol with a program''' via the Windows '''Control Panel''' > [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Change-which-programs-Windows-uses-by-default Default Programs]. Look for '''.url''' > (ignore existing Firefox) '''Change Program''' and '''Browse''' and select Firefox again.
    Also, if you have security software (antivirus, firewall etc.) installed, you can try deleting all existing instances of Firefox and its related processes/files in all the different configuration modules/areas of the security software like process monitoring, sub/spawned process control, virtualization, HIPS etc., in addition to the security software's main configuration panel. Instead create new fully allowed/trusted rules for Firefox + its related processes in all the different modules/panels - a genuine/original Firefox installer as well as all the installed EXEs (Application) and DLLs (Application extension) are digitally signed by Mozilla Corporation (right-click > Properties > Digital Signatures). Even otherwise, some security software may also ask again when Firefox and/or its sub processes are started, and you may be able to allow/trust at that time. • Firefox 4 seems to be incompatible with Windowblinds skins

    No matter which Windowblinds skin I use (with Windows XP), the slide to the right of Firefox 4 vanishes. When I remove Windowblinds, it reappears again, so the problem seems to be one of compatibility.

    I too was experiencing a similar odd behavior with FF 4.0+ and WindowBlinds 7.2 on WinXP Pro. I initially tried the chosen solution (from jflorez) of disabling Firefox's "Use hardware acceleration when available" option, but this only seemed to work correctly for me half of the time. At this point, I began taking a closer look at WindowBlinds' options in attempts to fix the incompatibility, and fortunately, managed to find a solution.
    As Firefox has it own skins (themes), WindowBlinds does not need to touch it at all; effectively, it should simply ignore the Firefox application altogether. This can be done by opening WindowBlinds and clicking the ''Settings'' button (near the top of the ''WindowBlinds 7 Configuration'' window). In the ''Settings'' window, select the ''Per application'' tab and click the ''Add...'' button. Browse to the ''X:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\'' directory and choose the ''firefox.exe'' ejecutable and click ''OK''. In the ''Per application settings'' window under ''Total exclusion'', check the "Ignore this application and do not skin it" option and click ''OK''.
    Lastly, if Firefox is currently running, it will need to be restarted for the changes to take effect. In short, I sincerely hope this solution helps other Firefox users who are experiencing this problem.

  • FireFox 3.6 and Adobe Reader X. Reader X PDFs opened within the browser contain links, which do not work. Anyone got clues on why the links fail and how to fix?

    When we rolled out ReaderX and AcrobatX we uncheck the Diaply PDF in Browser window. OK with IE, but ignored in FireFox (3.6.16). We can live with that except the PDFs have links to other URLs and clicking on them is ignored. Same PDF opened outside the browser the links work fine. FireFox with Reader 9.4.0 no problem. Reader X with IE no problem. I can fix the Display in Browser with a change to firefox.js, but have not figured out how to fix the links when the PDF is displayed within the browser.

    My replies are in Bold.
    Thank you for your response and message.
    1. Are you seeing this problem with all kinds of PDF's or some specific  kinds like secure PDF's (with doc open password or printing  restrcitions), reader extended PDF's or PDF forms.
    This problem is with all kind's of PDF's.
    2. Are you opening a locally saved PDF by doing a drag drop in the  browser or right click and open with IE/FF or directly opening a PDF  hosted on the internet?
    It doesn't matter. However I do it, I see this problem in Firefox, IE & Google Chrome.
    3.  Can you also check the version of the Reader X browser plugin? you  could find it at C:\Program Files\Common  Files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX\AcroPDF.dll. Right click -> Properties  -> Details
    If version is 9.0.x then you could try a clean install of Reader X.
    I have checked it. It's the latest plug-in (though at the moment, I have gone back to Adobe Reader 9.4.1, as I've mentioned before, because I need the reader to be working fine for my work and daily life. I am just waiting for a fix before I try Adobe Reader X again.
    As I've mentioned before, I am seeing this issue ONLY on my Windows 7 Ultimate (Laptop). In the desktop's at work, with Windows XP / Vista, I don't see it. Adobe Reader is working fine, browser integration is fine, the floating tool bar works fine, the right click menu pop' up where the right click is done...I can also save PDF' from the main toolbar at the top and so on...
    I really have run out of ideas.... and I am very surprised that no expert support personnel (if at all there is one) have dropped by or said anything or mentioned anything about this.
    Anyway.... Cheers.

  • Firefox Install Problems - Can anyone help me out?

    Im not quite sure if I am posting this in the right place, so my apoligies of this is in the wrong part of the discussions.
    Recently I downloaded Firefox to my iMac and have had no major problems. My problem is a small annoying one more than anything else. Every time I launch firefox I get a blue window to drag firefox to my applications folder, and the firefox "drive" shows up on the desktop. i just ignore dragging firefox to the applications folder as it is already there. I can use firefox with no issues. I just have to close out the window to drag the application and when i quit firefox eject the drive on the screen. A friend of mine had this happen on his iMac but cannot remember what he did to fix it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Are you launching this from the Dock? It sounds like you have somehow created an alias to the Firefox install .dmg on your Dock instead of to the application itself in your Applications folder. Try clicking on the application in the Apps folder. If it starts correctly from there then drag that to your Dock and remove the incorrect alias (right click or control click for extended menu).

  • Firefox renders differently from Safari

    I have a little html code that produces two similar paragraphs. The only structural difference in the two paragraphs is
    a line-end appears in the second paragraph between the two /font tags.
    I expected the line-end to be treated as white space and ignored. It is ignored in Safari Version 5.0.2 (6533.18.5), but it is not ignored in Firefox (Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2.12) Gecko/20101026 Firefox/3.6.12).
    When rendered in Firefox, the second line in the second paragraph appears just a little bit lower below its first line than in the first paragraph.
    Here's the html (How can I get it not to render?):
    <pre><nowiki>
    <html>
    <head>
    </head>
    <body>
    <p><font face="Arial">This is the 1st line in the 1st paragraph.<br />
    <font size="2">This line is just below it.</font></font></p>
    <p><font face="Arial">This is the 1st line in the 2nd paragraph.<br />
    <font size="2">This line renders lower in Firefox.</font>
    </font></p>
    </body>
    </html></nowiki></pre>

  • Opening website "this american life" in firefox 4.0.1 causes firefox to crash, but the same site opens and streams radio shows just fine in IE. Suggestions?

    I am trying to stream radio shows through the website for This American Life. As soon as I open the site and click on a link, I get the message about an unresponsive script. The next click to tell it to continue or ignore causes Firefox to crash -- the fade to white/not responding thing. The same site runs just fine on IE.

    Seemed to work just fine when I tested the code (with my .swf). Tested in Chrome, FF, IE, Safari.
    Does your Chrome have the Flash plugin?
    But a couple of things..
    quotes missing here:
    margin= 0, auto;>
    Seems like you are trying to scale to exact fit?
    #flashContent { width:100%; height:100%; }
    <param name="scale" value="exactfit" />
    Won't work with pixel dimensions for the .swf:
    width="850" height="567"
    and <center> tag... set W/H params to 100% and remove <center> if you want to scale to exact fit 100% W and H
    Best of luck!
