Excel connection manager - Error after Installing Office 2013

Hi Team,
My SSIS package used to work fine until I Upgraded my Office 2010 to Office 2013. After upgrading to 2013, the SSIS package which is created using SQL 2012 is throwing error for Excel Connection manager. Below is the error what I see
TITLE: Microsoft Visual Studio
Could not retrieve the table information for the connection manager 'Excel Connection Manager'.
Failed to connect to the source using the connection manager 'Excel Connection Manager'
BUTTONS:
OK
FYI, I am running the package with Run64BitRunTime property = False.
Do let me know the solution please. It will be of great help as we are proposing this tool in a migration project.

I found the solution. Thanks
You don't need office on your server (not recommended and not supported). You should install
Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable for excel (xlsx) files and then use the Excel
This download will install a set of components that facilitate the transfer of data between existing Microsoft Office files such as Microsoft Office Access 2010 (*.mdb and *.accdb) files and Microsoft Office Excel 2010 (*.xls, *.xlsx, and *.xlsb) files to
other data sources such as Microsoft SQL Server. Connectivity to existing text files is also supported. ODBC and OLEDB drivers are installed for application developers to use in developing their applications with connectivity to Office file formats.

  • Snipping Tool stopping working after installing Office 2013 Pro (32 bit) on Win 7 Pro 64bit - help?

Have been looking at many forums to fix this:
    ran SFC - no errors
    rebooted multiple times
    all Windows Updates are current
don't want to disable antivirus, as some have suggested
Uploaded a registry fix, which several have suggested - no soap
    Note:
all other features of this PC work great - zero issues.
the issue starting right after installing Office 2013 Pro - 32bit.  It runs fine.
"Paint" runs fine.  "Print Screen" works fine - image goes to clipboard, and I can paste anywhere.
get the standard message everyone posts in forums:
"The Snipping Tool is not working on your computer right now. Restart your computer, and then try again. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator."
Have tried other free third-party tools, and they are cumbersome, and I love the MS Snipping Tool.

Fresh install, no errors in install at all
    Regards

    Hi,
Rundll32.exe is responsible for calling Windows DLL (or Dynamic Link Library) files and loading them into your PC's memory.
Usually the rundll32.exe Application error is not a straight forward error. There are lots of possible reasons for this error, includes a failed or incorrect installation or uninstallation of any softwares, which might have left erroneous Windows registry
    entries.
Tracking down the exact issue can take lots of investigation. The severity of this error really depends, if everything works well for you, you can just ignore it. However, if you want to correct this, try below steps:
Since you notice this error right after you installed Office 2013, try to remove and re-install it using default setting.
Reboot your computer, many programs require a reboot for successful installation.
Try to update your computer drivers. This is usually the cause of lots of .dll file error.
Try to run the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) to correct any incorrect system file. It is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files:

  • Office Add-In Not Working After Installing Office 2013

I just installed Office 2013 on my Windows 7 Pro desktop with Acrobat X Pro installed and all of the Office Add-In's went away.  I find them very useful and would like to know how I can get them working again. Thanks.

I wonder why Acrobat X is not compatible with Office 2013. Acrobat X was released late 2010, Office 2013 ca. two years later.
I think you answered your own question.
I don't want to buy an update to Acrobat XI for compatibility reasons only.
While you may not want to buy an upgrade for compatibility reasons, this is one of the main reasons why people do pay for upgrades. After all, you paid for Office 2013! Does this mean that only Microsoft should get money for software, everyone one else should run around to support their incompatible changes for nothing?
I just want that I can call the PDFmaker out of my Office applications. What is the problem?
    Isn't it clear?

  • Error when installing office 2013

    Hello,
when installing office 2013 on a machine i receive this error.
A repair of the registry didn`t fix the issue.
    Anybody with an option?
    Thx

    Hi,
If you have installed Office before, make sure it has been removed completely. Refer to the links below and try the Fix it:
    Office 2010:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/support/how-to-uninstall-or-remove-microsoft-office-2010-suites-HA104027750.aspx
    Office 2013 and Office 365:

Usually this problem is caused by the damaged registry, we can try to use Windows Installer CleanUp utility to remove the Windows Installer registry settings associated with your products installation.
You can refer to this kb below, though it's for earlier versions of Office, it still may help:

  • Bootstrapper error when installing Office 2013

Trying to install Office 2013 on a PC that has Office 2010. We use the Pro Plus setup. Anyways, it's failing with the following messages:
I have tried quite a few different fixes that I have found but none seem to work. Any ideas how to get around this?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I understand you need to install Office Professional Plus 2013, may I know why you still keep the Office 2010? What steps have you tried?
When installing Office 2013, please make sure no Office 2010 Application is running when installing Office 2013, also check the Task Manager that no Office 2010 application is running in the background.
One more thing, if you have Office 2010 32-bit, please also install Office 2013 32-bit; If the Office 2010 is 64-bit, Office 2013 also needs to be 64-bit.
To eliminate the influence by other programs, I suggest you perform a
clean boot, then install Office 2013.

  • There comes a ERROR in installing OFFICE 2013

When i tried to install office 2013 through a valid product key , it answers me that this product key cannot be used in your region. Please tell what should i do about this..........................

    Hi,
Firstly, you should tell if the software is marked as requiring activation in a specific geographic region. Then you are only permitted to activate this software in the geographic region indicated on the software packaging. You may not be able to activate
the software outside of that region.

  • Safari Keychain error after installing Office 2008 for Macs

I installed Office 2008 for Macs this morning. It then checked for updates to download, found a couple of big ones, and they were downloaded.
Since then, when in Safari, I keep getting a message saying something like "A keychain cannot be found for Safari" with 2 options: Cancel or Return to Default. Neither one changes anything.
I use only web-based email (Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo) so this is a major annoyance for me.
From Office 2008 for Macs, I really only need to use Word & Excel, so I would like to uninstall Entourage, Messenger and probably PowerPoint as well. However, at this point I'm, afraid to do anything else. (Also, i thought it was strange I didn't have a chance to pick w/ Office products to install.)
Any ideas on how to get rid of this Keychain message in Safari?
    MTIA!

Follow Up: A few days later, there was a Apple software update. After it was installed, the keychain error message went away.
The keychain error was so annoying, I had decided not to install Office for Macs on my iMac, but since there's no longer a problem on my MacBook, I will probably go ahead and put it on the iMac.

  • Essbase excel add-on error after installing IR Studio.

    Hyperion software compatibility issues?
Getting Essbase excel add-on error ("Error 1040007 Cannot find message database") after installing Hyperion Interactive Reporting Studio 9.3.1. We are able to consistently reproduce the error on several workstations.
    Any ideas?
    Thx,
    Ernesto

Try installing IR first, followed by the Essbase client. I think that worked for us. I can't recall what our path looked like in that scenario I just remember if we did it in that order things worked fine. I think Support said there is no certain "install order" that truly fixes the problem, that you have to manipluate the path by hand. But I'm pretty sure installing IR first worked in our enviro.
I do not know of a way to install IR Studio without the Essbase components, my understanding from Support is that they changed the product install thinking it was better this way, they learned after the fact it actually causes the problem you experienced. I would imagine they've changed/fixed the install behavior again in post 9.3.1 releases, but haven't heard.

  • Install Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable after install Office 2013

    Hello, everyone.
I have application, that works fine with Microsoft Office 2010. This application uses .mdb format for databases.
When Microsoft Office 2013 was installed, apps began works incorrect. Can I install Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable
on a workstation with Office 2013 already installed?

    Hi,
Based on my tested, I could install Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable with
Office 2013 side by side successful. ( Note: Do not mix 32bit and 64bit version )
As far as I know, MDB format is used for Access 2003, there might be some compatibility issues when opening with Office 2013. I recommend you convert it to ACCDB format to test.

  • Mail x64 Control Panel Broken, Can't Install Office 2013 SP1 to Fix It - HELP NEEDED

I have the dreaded broken Mail x64 Control Panel that doesn't work after installing Office 2013 Home and Business on a Windows 8.1 Pro computer.  This was a fresh installation, yet Microsoft still has an ancient disk image on their Office.com website
for download.  The version is 15.0.4433.1507.  It's from 2012!  I don't understand the purpose of having people download something if you are not even going to keep it up to date, and have them download programs which you know are broken.
    Strike 1.
Another thread said to update Office 2013.  Easier said than done.  Windows Update won't do it, even if Windows Update is manually told to search for updates.  Strike 2.
Another thread said to disable updates inside an office program (File, Account, Update Options).  Then Enable it, and updating should start immediately.  Nope.  Strike 3.
Same thread said if the above didn't work, to go to Uninstall Programs, and run a Repair of Office 2013.  Did that, and then it wanted the Product Key again.  Gave it the product key, it put a green check mark next to it signifying it was good,
and then when I clicked next, it said it couldn't activate it.  I clicked the Repair button, and the program closed.  Strike 4.
I uninstalled, and reinstalled Office 2013.  I downloaded the Office 2013 Service Pack 1 x64, and ran it.  It gives the error message "There are no products affected by this package installed on the system".  How could that be?
Article ID 2850036 says specifically that it applies to "Microsoft Office Home and Business 2013".  Since when can't you install Service Packs? Strike 5.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
The issue may occur if the registry entries are corrupted or missing. Usually, repair the Office suite from control panel can fix the issue.
For your case, I would suggest you to run Microsoft Fix It tool (or follow the
manual steps listed in follow article
) to uninstall Office 2013 completely from your computer, then do a re-installation and verify the result:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2739501/en-us
If you are able to login to
www.office.com/myaccount, then you can get the latest Office installation file there.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Please have a try and feel free to post back.

  • Cannot install Office 2013 during task seqeunce after installing R2

    Hi,
Since we installed SCCM 2012 R2, I have not been able to install Office in my baseline captures using a task sequence (64-bit OS). Ronni Pederson suggested using an Application rather than a Package but in his example, the application is being pushed rather
than deployed during OSD. Either way, his solution doesn't work for me. Office 2013 does install on my Windows 7 SP1 32-bit capture without any errors (same package).
I saw another suggestion that recommended using a wrapper script in a package. When I tried this, I used Task Manager to verify that application was installing and I could see msiexec running. After about 10 minutes, SCCM seems to be waiting for feedback
from the application which never happens. The task sequence fails and I can see log messages stating that it's Waiting for job status. It repeats this message for about 20 minutes and then fails. The wrapper script seems to have the best results but still
doesn't install Office without errors. When I logged in as administrator, I could see that Office looks to be installed. I tried launching a few of the apps and they are working so I don't really understand why this installation doesn't work properly.
Prior to installing R2 on SCCM 2012, this was not a problem. I installed Office 2013 via my capture task sequences many times without any problems. The only thing I can find through research is to use an Application object or use a Package object with a
wrapper script. I couldn't find any other suggestions.
Does anybody have any other ideas?
    Thanks,
    Rob

Before I can name any ideas, I need to know what's going wrong. Did you follow all the log files? I would start by looking at the installation log files of Office (%windir%\Temp) and see if it's indeed ending successful. If it does then continue to the
ConfigMgr log files (App*.log for application, or exempt.log for package).

  • SSIS 2012: SSIS Error Code "Excel Connection Manager" failed with error code 0xC0202009.

    Hi,
This is kind of weird issue that I am experiencing with excel connection manager in SSIS 2012. This issue occurs sometimes but when I close and re-open SSDT (SQL Server Data Tools - newer BIDS) then this issues goes off temporarily.
Just FYI, through SSDT environment I executed the package successfully with both settings Run64bit runtime setting to Yes and No when error does not occur.
    So far I have installed
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13255 (Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable).
I still remember for older versions of SQL Server (2005 & 2008) that I have executed Excel connection SSIS packages with Run64bit runtime = false i.e. in 32-bit mode. As far as I know I think Excel 64-bit issue has been resolved with SQL Server
    2012 release.
Here is the detail of error message:

    SQL Server 2012 {Microsoft SQL Server 2012 (SP1) - 11.0.3368.0 (X64) } , Excel 2010 (32-bit). I am developing SSIS code on Virtual desktops with Windows 7 32-bit OS.
Also it occurred to me that since Virtual Desktops are on Shared Infrastructure, the source files and SSIS packages (code) can be on Shared drives for e.g. \\<Corpnet>\userdata\<Corp_Users_Grp>\<Username>\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\Integration
    Services Project2\Integration Services Project2\Package.dtsx.
Does this kind of Shared drives have any impact to give this issue?

P.S.: I had look at this forum question -->
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/903bbe1d-e070-4c43-9d3b-0a5193550029/64bit-error-in-excel-connection-manager-in-ssis

    Hi Arthur,
    Thanks for your response.
Yes, it looks like SSIS still has bunch of issues with Excel files like as follows:
    1) Some times excel source files cannot be parsed by excel source connection manager.
    2) For derive column conversion, we can't replace the existing column. rather, we have to add the derived column as " add as new column" which is tough to manage  while destination mapping.
    3) If an column in excel contains a data which is not of the data type assigned for the column in excel, the excel source reads that data as "null". For the same, we can't validate the data and redirect the erroneous data in reject file.  <-- For
this we tried IMEX setting also
    4) In multi-tab/sheet excel file, excel source is unable to detect a tab and identify the metadata of the excel.
I am also checking Microsoft connect for Excel issues with SSIS 2012(https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/SearchResults.aspx?SearchQuery=excel#&&PageIndex=22
As worst case scenario, I am thinking of converting Excel to CSV file or Flat text file. (http://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertip/2772/importing-data-from-excel-using-ssis--part-2/).
Do you think it is advisable to convert Excel into CSV or Flat file.

I am using BIDS Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and running the package to load the data from excel .
