Excel or table style grid in text cast member

I copied an Excel style table out of MS Word and pasted it
into a text cast member and to my surprise, the grid lines came
with the text, nicely formatted and everything. Having a
spreadsheet like grid (or something like an HTML table) that would
auto fit the contents of each cell sure would help.
Anyone know how to apply grid lines to text cast members I
create from scratch? and are there any formatting options I can
access from lingo to modify the grid?

Check out the data grid in Inplicity, a fantastic set of
add-ins for Director. All Lingo based. They kick butt.

  • Making dynamic sprites from a cast member

    Hello ,realy I am making a movie that it has the words and
    the meanings and the pronounciation and the image of the word of 20
    lessons ,realy I make a propertly list for the words and the
    meanings for each chapter in a text document for each lesson and
    retrievet the words and the meanings on the stage and assign the
    them into separate sprites made by a text cast member ,Now I have a
    problem ,the number of words and new words are not equal for each
    lesson ,there fore I look for a way to make the sprites same as the
    number of the words of each lesson from the cast member , is it
    realy possible ?
    Thank you very much
    Sincerely yours Mohsena

    Hello and thank you for your attention ,yes as you mentioned
    I should change the content of the text members ,in this way when I
    want tthe words and the meanig of lesson 2 ,I should change the
    content ,But my problem is in this phase exactly ,for example if
    the lesson 1 has 30 words and meaning and lesson 2 has 20 meaning
    ,one way is to predefined 30 sprites froem the cast memeber and use
    object oritented programming that make just 20 new object for
    lesson 1 (I can do it) but realy what is in mind is that ,is it
    possible to make the sprites as needed? for example for lesson 1
    make 30 sprites ,the somehow destroy them ,and for lessson 2 make
    20 sprites?
    thank you very much for your attention sincerely yours

  • How to save a table style?

    I can't seem to save a table style.... I create a new one with the palette, give it a name, set all the parameters, click OK -- and it's not there next time I try to use it. Can anyone figure out what I'm doing wrong? Many thanks for any help!

    Perhaps the OP is not satisfied with a ASCII text file being opened in Excel, and actually wants a XLS or XLSX file.  If that is the case checkout the Report Generation Toolkit which now comes with some versions of LabVIEW 2014, or look at XLR8.
    We should also mention that the Write Measurement File Express VI can save data with an xlsx format.  Yes, it is the true format that Excel uses.  So if you already have all of the data, that might be a really good way to go.

  • Excel Pivot Table not working Office 2013 click to run

    Hi
    I have a user who is having an issue with Excel pivot tables.
    Issue occurs when opening an old excel-file (created with Office 2007) and then saving it with another name (Save As).
    When opened the next time, system gives attached error message when trying to update Pivot with "Alt + F5" command.
    --> For some reason it wants to find something from that old excel file + Pivot is not updated.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks
    Dan Smith

    Thank you George for your reply. The user tried the Analyze-->Change Data Source and this is what was found:
    The original file name was ”Kaiken_syyskuu2014_2.xlsx”. (see the pic below)
    When I have saved it as “Kaken_marraskuu2014”, it seems that all the pivots are still linked to “Kaiken_syyskuu2014_2”??
    In earlier Office version this did not happen.
    This excel file must be updated on monthly basis. There is tens of different pivots, so It would be quite nightmare to update the names for every Data Source one by one, every month (actually it is not possible to type name for the data
    source, ranges/tables have to be selected manually).
    These pivots are not re-created every month. Only the data source gets updated by pressing (Alt + F5)
    This problems is solved if the pivot table data source gets updated also (=source is same than new file name) when you give new name for the file (=Save as).
    I don’t see the point why pivots are still linked to old file, if you have already gave new file name for the entire excel-file.
    I hope you can help.
    Thanks

  • How to color a table view header's text via css

    I have managed to change font-name, background and text alignment of my table view header, but the text-fill line is just ignored! What's the correct way to do this?
    Example:
    .table-view .column-header, .table-view .filler {
    -fx-text-fill: white;
    -fx-font-family: "Helvetica";
    -fx-font-size: 10px;
    -fx-font-weight: bold;
    -fx-size: 25;
    -fx-border-style: solid;
    -fx-border-insets: 0 1 1 0, 0 0 0 0;
    -fx-border-width: 0.083333em, 0.083333em;
    I also added:
    .table-view.column-header.label{
         -fx-text-fill: white;
    Wich was recommended on a site, but didn't work either..

    I think you need
    .table-view .column-header .label{
      -fx-text-fill: white;
    }(with spaces between the class selectors).

  • Problem with footer in table style not applying paragraph style... or just me?

    I'm having a niggling problem making a table style with cell/paragraph styles for the header, body, and footer respectively. I want to make it as simple as possible for other users but one thing keeps tripping me up. I'll try and describe with screenshots. I'm using InDesign CS5 on Windows 7.
    I have a table style set up with cell styles for the header, body, and footer, and paragraph styles for each as well. Say I'm converting a list of generic text to this table:
    i convert it to my table style. The body style is a numbered list:
    I convert the header to an, err, Header. The cell applies the header paragraph style as I should expect:
    I convert the footer likewise, but it maintains the Body text paragraph style as an override!
    So naturally I clear the override and it works fine. But of course, I'd rather it acted like the header row. I can't work out where the override on the footer comes from and why it operates differently in this respect to the header row. There is nothing different about how the styles are constructed. Have I made a mistake somewhere, or is this correct behaviour I'm misinterpreting, or something...?
    edit: Here is the file, if that will help:

  • The custom style mapping option text still maintains the word formatting or it shows a style override in the InDesign style - how do I correct this?

    When I tell the custom style mapping option to format a Word style (from an rtf document) with the InDesign style, the text still maintains the word formatting or it shows a style override in the InDesign style. I have a large document that needs to import the styles correctly and I've followed the tutorials exactly however the placed text is still hanging onto the word RTF styles. I want the rtf text to convert to my InDesign styles completely without overrides.

    I actually need the cell styles. That's what sets my font, spacing, and GREP styles.
    I did find the solution today. In the table style or table setup, I needed to set the "Stroke Drawing Order" to "Column Strokes in Front". Even though it was previously set to "Best Joins" and I had no strokes for rows or for the table borders, it just wasn't giving priority to my dotted columns.
    Thanks for your response though!

  • Create PDF Acrobat X Pro - does not display embedded excel 2010 tables in word 2010 properly

    Hello,
    I bought Acrobat X Pro and the first document I used 'Create PDF' on was a Word 2010 document with embedded (read linked) Excel 2010 tables.
    When I opened the document after creating it the linked tables had a little arrow in the corner of a white box with a help text message of "click here to activate". The pdf is basically unusable.
    Is there a setting to ensure that these embedded excel tables are created as normal tables - I do not want to have to keep pasting in tables/images into my Word documents when they are all updating automatically.
    Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

  • PDF form from Excel spreadsheet/table

    I am developing a process where folks enter data (all text) to a central spreadsheet, and someone uses Acrobat X to generate a form. The form needs checkboxes (one per table row), and a digital signature above the table. I'm running into a couple of issues:
    1) I am trying to automate the creation of checkboxes, so that whoever is generating the final PDF form does not need to add a checkbox for each row. I noticed that in Excel, in Develop mode, one can add checkboxes, and on my first try, the PDF form creator seemed to translate those automatically into PDF form checkboxes so that no extra manual step was needed. In my last few tries, the conversion no longer auto-converts checkboxes. Any tips on this?
    2) I also noticed that whereever there is blank space, the form creator inserts a text field. Even for table cells that have text in them, if there's any white space, presto, here comes a text field inserted into that very cell, usually named after the text already in the cell. Is there any way to avoid this?

    Which version of Acrobat do you have? If X, then there should be an option
    in your Excel to Mail Merge the spreadsheet, which is basically what you
    describe. However, I'm not sure if it can also automatically email the
    files to the recipients.
    I have developed a script that can do the merge, *and *automatically email
    the file to each person. Have a look here for more info:

  • InDesign CS3 crashing adding table style...HELP!!

    This issue started on Friday.  I just starting working on a large document that will have many tables throughout, so I must use the table styles.  Here is the order in which I do things to get the crash.
    Place document from Word in to InDesign document
    Highlight table to be changed
    Convert text using paragraph styles
    Alter column widths to fit page
    Highlight entire table to select table style
    Click desired table style
    CRASH!!!!
    I have tried the following things with NO LUCK:
    Deleted adobefntX file multiple times (actually worked for a couple of hours first time I did it)
    Deleted InDesign preferences (did nothing)
    Re-created all "Styles" in InDesign (Character, Paragraph, Cell, & Table) (Did nothing)
    Changed the order in which I altered the tables text and formatting (thinking it was just a silly order problem)
    Unistalled and Re-installed CS3 (worked for 5 tables and then CRASH)
    Updated ALL software (Adobe and Mac)
    Started up in Safe mode and CRASH!!!
    I realize from seraching for this problem on the web that I am probably the ONLY person having this issue, but I thought it was a font problem until I started in Safe Mode and still crashed.  I am totally confused as to what I should do next.  I am running on a

    I am not familiar with InDesign Interchange, do you think this will help?
    That's why I suggested it. But you didn't answer my question: Is this happening with only one file? The reason I ask is because if one file is corrupted, saving to INX and back to INDD often clears out minor corruptions. If you're seeing this in many files it's unlikely they're all corrupt.
    1. Convert text using paragraph styles - I meant modified "placed" text using character styles
    Now I'm really confused. Your steps are:
    Place document from Word in to InDesign document
    Highlight table to be changed
    Modify placed text using character styles
    Are you really highlighting an entire table and applying a character style? While this will work to modify certain formatting aspects, it's not really the best approach. Character styles are for characters *within* a paragraph. Paragraph styles are for *entire* paragraphs. Each table cell contains at least one full paragraph, even if it's just a single number, a space, even if there's nothing there at all. If you want to format the contents of an entire cell or range of cells with the same formatting, use a paragraph style, not a character style. If you want to italicize one or two words in some text in a cell (the way I just did), then use a character style.
    I really feel that the issue either stems from fonts or from placing the document from Word.
    Could be. Cheap fonts are the cause of many problems in Indesign. Indesign is really picky about fonts. But let's try the easy fix first (INX). If you don't trust it, save the .inx to a new .indd filename (keep your old .indd file as a backup).

  • 3EA4 -- can not run SqlDeveloper report to "table" style

    The same SqlDeveloper report, which was/is working in 3EA3 - same Oracle user, same privileges, same platform, same connection, same Java version, same same ... can not run the report to the "table" style. It works only with the "Script" style. So, betwen EA3 and EA4 something changed. No work around, just lost capability.
    note: I tried many SqlDeveloper reports that were working in the "table" style - none of them works in the "table" style anymore with EA4 - that really is not cool :(
    Here is one of those reports:
    SELECT
       object_name "Object_Name",
       object_type "Object_Type",
       CASE OBJECT_TYPE
          WHEN 'PACKAGE BODY' THEN 'alter package ' || OWNER||'.'||OBJECT_NAME || ' compile body;'
          WHEN 'SYNONYM'      THEN 'CREATE PROCEDURE ' || OWNER||'.tmp_compile_synonym AS BEGIN EXECUTE immediate ''alter synonym ' || OWNER||'.'||OBJECT_NAME || ' compile''; END tmp_compile_synonym;'||chr (10) || '/'||chr (10) || 'EXECUTE ' || OWNER||'.tmp_compile_synonym;'||chr (10) || 'DROP PROCEDURE ' || OWNER||'.tmp_compile_synonym;'
          ELSE 'alter ' || lower (OBJECT_TYPE) || ' ' || OWNER||'.'||OBJECT_NAME || ' compile;'
       END "Compile_Statement"
    FROM dba_objects
    WHERE owner=upper(:OWNER)
    AND status = 'INVALID'
    ORDER BY object_type;Note: Reverted to EA3 until the problem is idenfied/solved

    ok, I did update to JDK 1.6_24 , edited the jdk file under .sqldeveloper to point to the correct JDK version and invoked the 3EA4 from the command line:
    raisin:~/sqldeveloper3EA4$ ./sqldeveloper.sh -J-Xmx1024m
    still having the issue. None of the "table" style reports work.
    So, something definitely changed in EA4 that broke the "table" style reports (at least in my case).
    I am using the same "thin" connections that I created before (it picked it up from the .sqldeveloper settins). Did anything change for the thin jdbc connection in EA4 compared to EA3 ? I looked at the change list and don't see it there. I saw bug 09883309 reported here: 3.0 final+EA4: Doesn't work with 11.1 OCI/Thick driver , but don't think it has anything to do with the problem I am seeing - I don't use OCI, but jdbc thin. I wonder if there is a problem with 11.2.0.2 jdbc thin in EA4 and my database server version (10gR2 base version on RHEL 4).
    But if Jim doesn't have the problem with the same JDK version and "almost" the same platform - maybe the database server version is an issue ? All I know, these reports (table style) was/is working with the EA3 - but not in EA4 .
    When I run the report - the execution window does not display anything - all grey - then if I click on the green arrow (go/run) button, I see the following exceptions in the terminal from which I invoked the sqldeveloper:

  • Attaching same style in Standard text as well as adobe form

    Hi Experts,
    I have created 2 styles. One in se72 and second one in smatstyles.
    But when i use 1st one in standard text, i can't see this style in adobe form to attach.
    And 2nd one i can see it in adobe form but i can't see in standard text.
    I want only 1 style to be used in both places.
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
    You can achive this in two ways.
    First - Go to the form interface and right click on the node create a text field in the form context.
    In the properties tab on the right hand side of your form context you can specify Text Type.
    Following Text type can be selected.
    Include Text
    Text Module
    Dynamic Text.
    As per your requirement select Include Text and then specify the NAME, LANG & TEXT ID for the text.
    Once this is specified you can add this text field on the form layout.
    NOTE: This normally works only if you maintain this text in the header or footer on the form but not at the line item level.
    There are few issues when you try to print this text at the line item level.
    To overcome this if your requirement is at the line item level follow second method mentioned below.
    User READ_TEXT to read the standard text in your driver program. Then Pass the internal table returned with the text from this FM to another FM FORMAT_TEXTLINES.
    This table is then used to map it on the adobe form. The second function module takes care of formatting.
    Thanks

  • Table Styles Override

    Hi,
    I'm using CS4 (PC) and realised that the plus sign indicating local overrides don't show in Table and Cell styles. Is that a glitch or that's the way it's meant to be? Any takers?
    Tricia

    You could try adding the following to your .css file:
    td {vertical-align: top;}
    This should affect the alignment of text in all table cells, regardless of whether you have a table style defined. It should not affect any other formatting that you have applied to the text in the table.

  • Table Styles - Automatic Format Header (only)

    Hi,
    I'm trying to set up a Table Style to look like the following
    Header A
    Header B
    Header C
    Example 1
    XX
    XX
    XX
    Example 2
    XX
    XX
    XX
    Example 3
    XX
    XX
    XX
    I have the following Paragraph Styles set up:
    Header - (Header A, B, C) centre aligned. Bold Arial 10pt
    Left Column - (Example 1, 2, 3) Left aligned Arial Regular 10pt
    Body - (XX) Centre aligned Arial Regular 10pt
    These are linked to Cell Styles in their appropriate places
    The Left Column is automatically applied, as is the Body Rows. The problem is that I have to tell the Header to apply the Header Cell Style
    Is this possible to automate?
    Thanks,

    If the table was originally a Word doc, the Word table can be set to be a header in Word. This could be honored as it places into the InDesign file.
    If the table was originally an Excel file, the Excel file does not have the ability to nominate the top row as header in advance of placing it into InDesign. This creates a manual moment.
    Too bad you cannot set the header in the Show Import Options as you place it! This means you are often stopping to manually adjust/nominate the header row manually.
    More pain: if you refresh the link to the Excel spreadsheet, you have to reset the header row manually again.
    Maybe you can throw a script at it:
    Table: convert first row to header rows

  • Min. row height table style

    A new table in Indesign is by default set with a minimum row height of 1.058 mm. This 'minimum' feature is also visible in a table style (the 'exact' feature is not for some reason). When I import a table from Word for example, it's row height might be different. For example a certain row had a height of 25 mm. So I applied the cell style to it where I set the 'min' rowheight to 1.058 mm. However, the row height still remains 25 mm. This doesn't only happen to imported tables. I've inserted a new table in indesign. This had a row height of 1.058 by default. Then I dragged a row heigher to 40 mm for example. Then I applied the cell style again with 'min' set to 1.058. The row height should turn to 1.058 but it remains 40 mm. Why can't I apply a rowheight in a cell style? Now I have to convert a table to text and then back to table again to get the default rowheight back.

    If you want to force it to be a certain height, you should change "At Least" to "Exactly." "At Least" does just what it says it does—it sets a minimum for the row height, but lets the max vary. It should like you want to rows to be "exactly" a certain height, even if it causes text to become overset.
    You should also be able to change your defaults when you have no documents open if you prefer it to work differently.
