EXCEL Output in 11.5.10.2 - solved

Hi All,
Does 11.5.10.2 supports the output in EXCEL or not. If supports is there any patch we need to apply. Current patch set for XML Publisher is 11i.XDO.H.
I tried to get the output in EXCEL in Oracle apps version - 11.5.10.2 and the status is Completed Normal, But the output is a junk(few xml data only).
It works well with output as PDF.
Thanks in advance

Hi Matt
I broke your message to a new thread. The original msg was for BIP under EBS, yours is particular to the standalone version Excel Analyzer.
As for an answer, what version of Excel are you using? Can you log a TAR and let us know the number? Can you uninstall the plugin (under Add/Remove Programs) and then allow the installer to run again the next time you run the analyzer.

Tim

    Hi All,
I was working with Oracle Apps r12.
We have developed a custom report using xml and the report output type is Excel. when ran the report it completed with normal and the excel output is generated,We have a column called Amount and its having a white space before the amount.
So that we cannot able to do any aggregate function with that data.
For example the column called Amount
    28523.20
    32569.00
    25369.25
in excel the output is coming like this, So when we select this three column and try to do any aggregate function it not giving any value.
I have tried Trim but its dos'nt works, because the values are already trimed.

  • Excel output in Reports6i

    Hi,
I am having problem in generating excel output. I am using reports6i and i am generating output from web. While generating,i am getting the output in excel. But my problem is, in my excel output i am having a field called barcode which is a varchar2 type and having values like (7889999677)number data. So if i generated the excel output file automatically it is showing that data in excel as right aligned data cell. I want that particular cell should be left aligned since it is varchar2 type. Can anybody solve this problem.
    Thanks in advance
    M.C. Meenakshi

I guess that you are using DESFORMAT=DELIMITED. If so, you don't have any control over formatting etc. Remember that a delimited file only consists of data and a delimiter like 2.4;1.6;6.3;1.1;1.2!
If it's possible, install Oracle Reports10g (part of Developer Suite 10g) and use the new way to generate an Excel Report.
Metalink Note 24819.1 describes how to make a report template in MS Excel. This will be opened and customized in Oracle Reports. When running the report, MS Excel will be automatically started (or via Excel browser plugin) and display the data. Quite nice!!!

PDF,RTF DESFORMAT is right, but users need spreadsheet desformat too.
the characterset is unicode, and end signal of junk character is ?/SPAN>.
When I get excel output include junk character, the same time get the junk character's record, and then get excel output only include the junk character's record, the excel output will be showed correctly,no junk characters.
    How to sovle the problem?

  • XML Publisher report not printing excel output due to special characters

    Hello,
I am trying to create a xml publisher report which should display the output in excel. But the program completes with a warning status and the output is displayed as XML instead of excel, with some errors "An invalid character was found in text content. Error processing resource " and i think these errors are due to the special characters(eg: city/province - A Coruña, Cáceres). If i give rownum < 10 in my query, where there are no such characters it works fine and i am getting an excel output.
Tried changing the XML encoding and it doesn't help (both mentioned below)
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
Do anyone have a solution for this
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Vetsrini,
We're on 10.1.3.4.1 and siebel 8.1.1.3 and when trying to open a report from within siebel in the output format EXCEL (selected from the parameter applet), it just opens the document in the browser.
Is there a way to get it to open directly in Excel? I guess the reason is the file extension*.EXCEL, how could we get the extension to be in excel format (xls)?
We don't want our users to have to do this themself.

remaining two output formats (PDF,HTML) must have the Footer and Header Section.
Any one having any idea about this issue.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Have a Nice day.

    Hi @BIPuser.
I said the same thing to them but they said no that is final option but we need only single template for all the outputs alos it should handle the bypassing of header and footer for excel output.
Thanks for your reply, If i come across anything i will let u know.

  • Excel output (with graphics)

    Hello,
I am using Oracle reports 10g 1.2.0 version.
We need to generate oracle reports in Excel format ("real" Excel, not delimited text) with tabular data and
    also graphics.
I used desformat=spreasheet. But is is giving only one worksheet.
I've found the "Output to Excel with Oracle9i Reports"
demo but the Excel template in the demo is very simple and doesn't have graphics.
    Then I've found the following:
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/htdocs/getstart/examples/excel_output/result/excel.jpg
    a) The above site has excel output with multiple worksheets.
which is similar to what we need but I wasn't able to find related source (excel_emp.jsp).
    b) Using jsp if we can ahieve multiple worksheets with grapahics, please provide us examples.
    c) http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/reports/htdocs/getstart/demonstrations/excel/index.html --This site is not working to find the demo.
Could you please help me in this?
    Thank you for any help.

    carla,
the example you mentioned uses the JSP web source that is only available in oracle9i reports.
in theory you can create any excel output. it is just a matter of creating the template and then adding the reports tags to populate it with data.
you could then use reports' URL engine to produce files from this output.
there are certainly ways to do it, but they are only available in oracle9i reports (9.0.2 and higher)

    philipp

    Hi,
Its looks like this might be the customization issue please have a look at the OSS Notes 457497 and refer to the questions 2, 3 &  4 may be you can get the idea (Specially 4).
Why are some texts not printed at all?
    Answer:
Which texts are printed depends on the Customizing settings of purchasing.
    Go to Customizing for purchasing.
Choose "Messages -> Texts for Messages -> Define Texts for <Purchasing Document>". Choose "Print Document <Purchasing Document>". Select "Texts for Document Items" and add a new entry.
You must specify a value for the print sequence in the detailed screen for your new entry.
Let me know in case of any.

Example Numeric fields --> Right Aligned, text fields --> Left Aligned
One more issue with excel is -ve(negative) values are getting displayed in red and in brackets like ($13) (with red color).

    Hi Mahi,
Thanks for your response. But i could not understand how can we write wrapper program could you please give some light on this or provide some link it would be helpful for me:-)
I have read that blog for excel limitations but i have more question?
    1) What about the negative values?
if any field is displaying negative amount then excel not displaying right value for that:(
2)How can we align header or data?
Do XMLP with EBS provide any solution for formatting in excel?
    3) If for the alignment of numeric value we concatenate them with any special character then how can we perform calculation that field?
Here are so many formatting issues do we need to write any code in xml for that?
    Please help.
    Many Thanks,

When running an xml publisher report the xml output leads to 9 mb and the excel output file leads to 20 mb. The records contained in excel file is 4000 records. When taking the excel records and copy to new excel file the excel file size is 3.5 mb only. Why does the oracle software generates 20mb file?
Does any one knows the answer please advice?

    Hello,
This issue is because the Excel output from BI Publisher is MHTML (XML Publisher generates XHTML) not binary .xls.
MHTML and XHTML are more verbose formats than binary .xls.
It will be large because the current Excel output is just an HTML and not compressed like PDF. Please use the workaround (save it as .xls file).  This is a known limitation of RTF layout templates.
BI Publisher Enterprise has a new feature True Excel Templates. The layouts generate binary Excel output.
Excel Output File Size Generated By BI Publisher is Very Large (Doc ID 760437.1)
