I am getting exception for detailed navigation par file. Here is the details about the exception

Unable to View the contents in Detailed Navigation

Hi,
I have changed the IP address of the machine on which the portal server was installed to a Public IP address and from then onwards only i am facing the problem in the detailed navigation.Everything is working fine except the detailed navigation.
I am able to view the links in the Detailed navigation only on the local machine(Same System where EP is installed).But when i try to access from the internet on any other machine i am not able to view the links in the detailed navigation.It appears minimized.When i click maximize(Collapse tray) it doesent report any error but not links will appear in the tray.
Portal version : Ep6 SP9
Any help will be appreciated.

Please check the naviagtion properties for the IView.
The radio button agaist the property "Invisible in Navigation area"should be selected to No.
Or just make sure all the navigation properties for IView are correct.

Detailed Navigation on EP6 SP2 Patch27

I just installed EP6 SP2 Patch27.
The EP system was installed using CD 51030419 without CM. And I installed patch 5 (J2EE 25) and patch 27 (J2EE 27).
When I logged on the system and clicked the menu in the detailed navigation, the script error message like below appeared.
A runtime error has occured.
Do you wish to debug?
Line : 116
Error : 'onNewHistory' is undefined.
But, after this popup error message, all functions seems to work correctly.
Is there anybody has an idea to resolve this ?

I know this meesage was posted a long time ago but I am encoutering the same problem with the latest patch for SP2. The user would like to view the Enterprise Portal on a MAC machine and everything seems to work except the detailed navigation part. I tried also on a windows machine with a Netscape/Firefox browser and same problem occurs.
Did you find a solution? I would greatly appreaciate your help.

Light detailed navigation throwing exception

Hi all
I am using the light framework in the portal.
The light detailnavigation is throwing the error when a page is accessed using the short URL from a link in the footer. The toplevel navigation items are also getting cleared. The target of the URL is hidden from the navigation structure (Invisible in Navigation.)

I am facing the problem in 2004 SP Stack 16
But as per the notes this is already fixed in sp16.
What i did was instead of placing the hidden nodes in the first tab of TLN, i placed it in the second tab and is working fine.
If hidden nodes are there in the first tab then the error is coming.

Master Detail Navigation/Refreshment?

Hi, I have created a JSP application that uses BC4J. The BC4J has its basis in 4 database tables; 3 foreign keys to each of the other three tables link one of the tables. These Master tables have a one to one relationship with their respective Entities, Views and JSP's, and these JSP's work fine. Next to these 3 JSP's I have created another 3 JSP's that reflect the MD-relationships in the database; except for some navigational problems these JSP's work nicely too, but for one major problem: it seems to be possible to throw away a Master in one (not MD) JSP, and subsequently add another Detail to the same (still existing) Master in a MD-JSP.
I do understand that I have to refresh something somewhere, but I don't seem to be able to find the exact answer.
1. Can anyone tell me how to set this refreshment?
2. In the MD-JSP's any query, insert or edit results in Navigation towards the Master-JSP or Details-JSP. I would like to navigate to the View Link-JSP. Is there a way to accomplish this navigation?

We solved it . And you guessed right, using scaffolding and it was related to routes only.

Help with Detail Navigation Node Landing Page

Hi, When a user clicks on a Detail Navigation Node I have a landing page that says "Welcome to the <Text> Report Area>. I have a different page for each DTN node so right now I'm maintaining quite a few landing pages.
I'd like to have 1 dynamic page that says welcome to "Node Text". Where the Node Text is the text of the detail navigation node they selected.
Does anyone know if this is possible to pull off?

Replace the scripta with script above, since if I put the script out there this forum throws some exception.
Also add a . and remove the space before innerhtml because even doing so the forum is throwing error. SAP needs to get there act together at least on forum and not blindly filter certain characters.

lines between entries are not possible with the theme editor, I believe.
On which SAP EP version are you?
If applicable use the new navigation tag lib (SPS14) otherwise I would suggest to update to this version.
You can achieve any design you want with this tag lib.
Directly editing of the DetailedNavigation-iView is a nightmare (I tried it by myself). And you will have the problem of keeping everything compliante in new versions (which will be the next nigthmare).

Detailed Navigation in the room NOT working

When I compose a template and create a room based on that template I can see all the pages on the room along with their detailed navigation bar on the right of every page except one page in the room. I double checked my mapping of that page and compare it with a standard template the entire mapping are correct. So, what could be the problempls advice

If the 'initial state' of the detailed navigation iview in the framework you are using is closed, then detailed navigation remains closed if it is not having any contents. I think you tried by giving this property as open.Also check whether the entry points are set right(yes) for the contents in the corresponding tab.

Open iviews in new window from detailed navigation context menu function

hello,
when we click in the detail navigation menu and in the context menu (because many of ours users are used to right click to open a link in a new window on the internet) on the functionnality "open in new window", the start page is always display instead of the corresponding iview ...
could you tell me if there is a configuration into the portal to :
1- suppress the function "open in new window" from the context menu in the detailed navigation !
2- make the iview displayed into the new window really the iview desired !

The frist part is very precise. Not possible. Period. The reason is that the links are calling JS and not directly calling a http target.
About the second part: Within the Light Framework, you create a Light Detailed Navigation. And in this case, the links are direct http links. So with that, you have what you want.

Receive the following error message when trying to approve or reject from Pending "The service threw an unknown exception. See inner exception for details"

Hi, The server agent was grayed out. I uninstall it from control panel and removed it from agent managed. When I tried to install the agent, it failed. I installed the agent manaully and tried to approve it received the error message
"The service threw an unknown exception. See inner exception for details" I have the details but does not tell me much (I can post it). I removed it from control panel (while still showin in pending),
and tried to reject it. Again, received the same error message as above. This a very critical server, could someone help me with this issue? Thanks, Ziba

Can't find services in the Detailed Navigation when open from Overview page

Hi,
We have developed a custom area page for our ESS application. The area is visible in the Overview page as well as in TLN (Top leavel navigation). When we open the area from TLN the services under this area are visible in the Detailed Navigation(DN) on the left. But when we are trying to open the area from the overview page we can't be able to see the services in the DN and we have realized that the focus is on "Overview" in the TLN. In DN also only the Overview link is coming. But for other standard ESS applications the focus in the TLN is changing.
Please help to find the solution.

Hope you are using IE. If so,
1. Go to Tools - > Internet Options - > Advanced .
Enable " http1.1 through Proxy Connections".
2. Increase the Cache.
B. Check whether the user has permissions to access the portal content
Go to Content Administration - > Portal Content.
Select Portal Content and right click. Select Permissions and check out.

Detail Navigation missing when i link a web page in the WPC Scenario

Hi to all.
I had publish WPC site with the External Connector method.
I have some Web Pages linked in the Navigation Structure, when i link one of this from a internal link (for example in a List link or other) I displayed the page and the detail navigation is visible and the focus on the destination page is light.
Well, when I try to link a Web Page that not is linked in the Navigation structure (open it in the same page) the Navigation structure is missing.
Why? How i can leave the NAvigation structure and display the page?

Hi,
this scenario is not supported by WPC. I think it was written somewhere (in a note or so). The problem is that if a page is not included in the navigation structure there is no navigation node associated. And so link to that page does not contain NavigationTarget therefore it does not trigger a real portal navigation but just displays the page in the iframe in which it has been fired. That means if you are using the standard framework page (i.e. with frames) page is shown in the inner most frame and the rest is untouched (side effect from which is that the TLN is not updated) and if you are using the light framework page after click the page is shown on the whole window as there are no iframes.
May be you would be able to work around this by selecting such page to be opened in pop up window. Other options exist but they are more complicated as solutions.

Links in detailed navigation

how do i add new links in the detailed navigation section? is it added in workset or page?

Hi Arun,
The Hierarchy of Portal object is iview, Page, workset, role. You can view application once the role is assigned to the user. If the entry point is role, role and workset appears in the Top Level Navigation (TLN) and the rest of the hierarchy appears in Detailed Level Navigation. Usually the no of items in TLN is 2. We can change it to 1,2 or 3 depending on the requirement and the rest if any will appear in the DLN. So we cannot say which object appears in the DLN.
Also there is concept of Workset within Workset, Page within Page. It all depends how the object is packaged.

How to put a web link in the detailed navigation

How can you put a web link in the detailed navigation?
I know that if your role contains iviews that are 3 levels down (default), then the link to the iview will appear in the detailed navigation. But, I want to put a link to a external site in the detailed navigation - is this possible?

I have a page set with a url iview and it opens from the detailed navigation in a new window fine.
however when clicking on a link to the page via a landing page which displays the KM content page folders, it loads it in the portal active window still (with nav and masthead).
Any ideas how to get the km link to open in a new browser window?
