Exchange 2010 – Export details about e-mails in the DB

Hi
We have an Exchange 2010 server (v14.03.0195.001) and now we have a need for doing an extended report of all the e-mails received between 1 March (DateStart) and 1 Sep 2014 (DateEnd).
I am looking for a script (or program) exporting info about all the messages. The script should work like:
1: For each mailbox dump the content to a file equal %User%.csv (Comma or TAB separated)
2: For each message received between %DateStart% and %DateEnd% write one line to the file – the line should contain:
A: Time received (preferable in the format YYYY.MM.DD HH.MM.SS)
B: The IP-address the e-mail was sent from – retrieved from the message header (we subscribe to a cloud spam / antivirus service and all incoming e-mails are received from this company's IP address - this IP-address don't make sense)
If easier all the IP-addresses the e-mail have "gone through" can be listed separated with ";")
C: E-mail address the message was sent to
D: Subject
E: Name of all attachments separated with ";"
Nice if the script will report to the screen during the run:
Username / user number and how many messages has been listed to the %User%.csv file (update for each 1000? message)
I am ready to pay some money for a working script or buy a "report generator" which can be used for this purpose. Nice if you have some advice.
Best regards Harald

>>The server response was: 4.3.1 Insufficient system resources
This usually means that there are not enough free disk space on the disk containing the mail.queue so check that.

  • Exchange 2010 - Method to send e-mail when the WAN IP is dynamic

    Hello,
I am writing due to the fact that I cannot send e-mail from my Exchange 2010 Server to my Yahoo! address for testing. When trying to do so, I get the following error message:
    mta1106.mail.gq1.yahoo.com gave this error:
Mail from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx not allowed - 5.7.1 [BL21] Connections not accepted from IP addresses on Spamhaus PBL; see
    http://postmaster.yahoo.com/errors/550-bl21.html [550]
As one can see, because my IP address is residential, I cannot send e-mail to all addresses on the web. I really would like to use this as my primary contact, and thought of using a proxy. Can someone recommend a good proxy, or workaround for this? I am
sorry for posting in Exchange 2013, but I couldn't find the 2010 forum. Thank you to all who reply.
    Mike

    Thank you for your reply,
I have set up DynDNS, and I am currently using my own domain name. The problem was I needed to configure a smart SMTP host, or relay server on my send connector. I decided to go with SMTP2GO, as they are cheap, and allow you to send 20 e-mails a day for
free. When the money is right, I plan to upgrade.
    Thank you for your help.

  • Exchange 2010 DAG Replication - too much data crossing the wire

I’m replicating 3 Exchange databases from our production active Exchange 2010 server across the WAN to another passive Exchange 2010 server at our DR site.
The Exchange server at the DR site does not have any active databases, i.e. no users are hitting that server.
We are running Update Rollup 8 for Exchange Server 2010 SP1 on both these servers.
The two sites are connected via a 10Mb/s MPLS connection and all the databases are in sync and the replication is working fine.
I have setup a network sniffer at the primary site and see a sizable amount of data crossing the wire from the production Exchange server to the DR Exchange server.
When I query the production Exchange server using the Tracking Log explorer and only choose the EventID ‘RECEIVED’ that should show me the amount of data that has been committed to the database.
If I choose a date range that is the same exact range that I have used to capture the raw data with my sniffer the amount of data the sniffer shows crossing the wire is 10 fold compared to what the Tracking Log Explorer shows.
If I actually count up the data in the LOG files it is about 20% more than what is crossing the wire but that seems to be because the DAG is compressing the data.
If in a one hour timeframe there is 500MB of data crossing the wire to the DR Exchange server the tracking log explorer will show only 50MB.
I would like to know why the data crossing the wire far exceeds the amount of data that is truly being sent/received from the primary exchange server.
Perhaps I’m simply not getting a true view of the amount of data being committed to the exchange server using the Tracking Log Explorer.
Maybe there is a better way to report how much data is being committed to the exchange databases.
    Any assistance would be appreciated…

    Two things.
1 - you must update Exchange to SP3 and a recent RU.  Willard has already provided the links, which point back to my blog if you want to see the lifecycle map for Exchange 2010.  SP1 has been out of support since January 2013.  Time to move
    on pllease
2 - Looking at the tracking log is not sufficient.  I would not expect that to show everything.
I want to know what traffic you see as excessive.  What ports are you seeing used here?
My money is on content indexing.  CI will use additional traffic over and above log repl traffic.  Expect CI traffic to be roughly the same again.  You can test this by disabling CI on the database or stopping the services on the DR server.
To disable the CI for the database:
    Set-MailboxDatabase DBName -indexEnabled $False
Or stop the Exchange search services on the DR box to leave production unaffected.
Again - you need to update Exchange.  You would be better to do that now rather than when something breaks and Microsoft support cannot fully assist you since you are not uptodate.    I'll leave discussion of the security issues resolved
    in recent Exchange RUs aside.
    Cheers,

Also - my battery has been telling me "service battery" for a LONG time and then it switched to "replace soon" som time ago. Can't really see what this has to do with anything but whatever.
That could conceivably explain all the problems you're describing. Replacing a Mac's battery should not be postponed since a failed battery will cause other problems to occur. It is also possible that its hard disk has failed, which means the information on it may soon become unrecoverable.
... my latest TM back up was from April 2014, can I just run this when I have rescued everthing and then it might not be as slow?
If that Time Machine backup remains intact, it may be the only viable means of recovering that Mac's information. I suggest you do not attempt to restore its contents to your ailing Mac.
Given that you are having trouble creating a newer Time Machine backup you should stop using that Mac immediately and have it serviced as soon as you are able. Do not take it to anyone other than Apple or a service facility authorized by Apple, for the very reasons you explained. If there are no Apple Stores in your vicinity search for an Authorized Apple Service Provider using the Contact Us link below. Use one of the options that appear under Contact Apple Support. The language on that page will be different for your location.

  • Troubleshooting and Introduction for Exchange 2007/2010 AutoDiscover - Details about "Test E-mail AutoConfiguration"

AutoDiscover is a new feature in Exchange 2007, to provide access to Microsoft Exchange features (OAB, Availability service, UM) for Outlook 2007
    clients or later.
We can determine whether problems related to AutoDiscover via OWA.
    For example:
OOF is not working in Outlook Client but it is working in OWA.
When we realized this issue is not related to Outlook Client side and network side after performing some troubleshooting steps, it should be something
    abnormal on AutoDiscover.
There is a common tool to check AutoDiscover in Outlook, Test E-mail AutoConfiguration.
Today, we will introduce AutoDisocver and “Test E-mail AutoConfiguration” in details. Hope it is helpful for AutoDiscover troubleshooting and self-learning.
    1. Differences between “Test E-mail AutoConfiguration” and other tools
The “Test-OutlookWebServices” cmdlet allows us to test the functionality of the following services:
    Autodisocver
    Exchange Web Services
    Availability Service
    Offline Address Book
When we run “Test-OutlookWebServices”, it returns all the web services’ states.
However, some information are useless for some scenarios.
    For example:
We just want our Exchange 2010 Server working internally. So it is unnecessary to enable Outlook Anywhere.
However, when we run “Test-OutlookWebServices”, it returns Outlook Anywhere errors because the Outlook Anywhere does not need to been enabled.
In contrast, using “Test E-mail Autodiscover” is more intuitive.
If there is any problems, it will return error code from the test result, like 0x8004010F etc. We can do some research from TechNet articles or MS
    KBs.
Although it is difficult to say where the specific problem is just via the error codes, we can combine with IIS logs to perform troubleshooting and
    find the root of problem.
    2. How to use “Test E-mail AutoConfiguration” Tool
    a. Open Outlook, we can find there is an Outlook Icon at the right bottom of System tray. Holding down “Ctrl” button and right click the Outlook Icon, we will see “Test E-mail
AutoConfiguration” option. Please see Figure 01.
    Figure 01
    b. Click “Test E-mail AutoCofiguration” and input user name, uncheck the “Use Guessmart” and “Secure Guessmart Authentication” checkboxes, then click “Test”. Please see
    Figure 02.
    Figure 02
    c. “Test E-mail AutoConfiguration” result panel and log panel. Please see Figure 03 and Figure 04.
    Figure 03
    Figure 04
    3. How to understand “Test E-mail AutoConfiguration” result
According to the Figure 03, we found there are many URLs in the “Test E-mail AutoConfiguration” result panel. Let us understand the details of these
    URLs.
If we these URLs are not the correct ones, we can re-setting or re-creating them via commands.
    - Internal OWA URL:
    https://vamwan310.vamwan.com/owa/
    OWA internal access.
    - External OWA URL:
    https://mail.vamwan.com/owa/
    OWA external access.
    - Availability service URL:
    https://vamwan310.vamwan.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx
    Free/Busy, OOF and meeting suggestions.
    - OOF URL:
    https://vamwan310.vamwan.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx
    Out of Office access.
    - OAB URL:
    https://vamwan310.vamwan.com/OAB/023ef307-b18a-4911-a52c-de26700f6173/
    OAB access.
    - Exchange Control Panel URL:
    https://vamwan310.vamwan.com/ecp/
    ECP access.
    4. AutoDiscover Tips
    - AutoDiscover Service itself is a web application running on the AutoDiscover virtual directory (not a server service) designed to provide connection information to various
    clients.
    - The AutoDiscover service is automatically installed and configured when CAS role is added to any Exchange Server.
    - AutoDisocver virtual directory is created in IIS within the Default Web Site.
    - A Sercive-Connection-Point (SCP) object is created in AD.
    - The SCP contains a URL to the AutoDiscover service. This is for intranet clients so they do not have to use DNS to locate the AutoDiscover service.
    - In AD this object is located at the following location:
    DC=<domain>, CN=Configuration, CN=Services, CN=Microsoft Exchange, CN=First Organization, CN=Administrative Groups, CN=Exchange Administrative
    Group, CN=Servers, CN=<CAS Name>, CN=Protocols, CN=AutoDiscover, CN=<CAS Name>
    - Setup creates the AutoDiscover URL based on the following structure:
    <CASNetbiosName>.domain.com/AutoDiscover/AutoDiscover.xml
If a PKI certificate is not already present, a self-signed certificate is installed on the Default Web Site.
To help allow this certificate pass the Issues to test it is set up with a Subject Alternative Name containing urls.
If a PKI certificate is present, that certificate is utilized and configured for use in IIS.
The Outlook Provider is used to configure separate settings for the Exchange PRC protocol (internal to network), Outlook Anywhere (Exchange HTTP protocol), and WEB:
    EXCH, EXPR, WEB
    The
EXCH and EXPR setting are vital for the proper configuration of Outlook.
    5. AutoDiscover Workflow
    General Process flow:
There are various components surrounding the AutoDiscover Service and all are necessary to complete a request. Including IIS, AutoDiscover service
    itself, the provider, and AD.
    a.
Client constructs service URL and submits Autodiscover Request. First attempt to locate the SCP object in AD. So, DNS is not needed.
    b.
    IIS Authenticates User.
    c.
Is the Autodiscover service in the appropriate forest?
    + If YES.
        1)
    Parse/Validate Request
        2)
Is there a provider that can service the Request?
    ++ If YES
          a)
Config provider processes request and returns config settings.
          b)
    Return config setting to client
    ++ If NO
Inform client we cannot process request
    + If NO.
Redirect client to Autodiscover service in the appropriate forest.
Methods to find Autodiscover services: SCP and DNS
    Domain-joined
    a. Find SCP first.
The SCP contains the URL to the AutoDiscover service.
    URL: https://CAS01.contoso.com(CAS’ FQDN)/AutoDiscover/AutoDiscover.xml
If more than one SCP object is found in AD (it means there are multiple CAS servers in the Exchange organization), Outlook client will choose one of the SCP entries that
are in the same site to obtain the AutoDisocover URL.
    b. If we cannot find SCP object, then Outlook client will use DNS to locate AutoDiscover.
Outlook parses out the domain (SMTP suffix) via your EmaiAddress, then attempts to connect to the predetermined order of URLs via the suffix.
For example: If my email address is
    [email protected]
Outlook tries POST commands to the following order of URLs:
    https://contoso.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
    https://autodiscover.contoso.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
NOTE: The URLs above is by design, hardcode
    and cannot be changed.
    c.
If those fail, Outlook tries a simple redirect to another URLs in IIS:
    http://contoso.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
    http://autodiscover.contoso.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
If none of these URLs work then DNS is most likely not set up correctly.
We can test that by pinging one of the above URLs.
If that is successful, we must ensure the URLs contoso.com or autodiscover.contoso.com are actually pointing to the CAS server.
If the ping fails then there is a chance that DNS is not set up correctly so be sure to check that the URLs are even registered.
    NOTE: If contoso.com is a non-CAS server,
we should add a Host record with just AutoDiscover. And point that entry to your CAS server that is running AutoDiscover.
    d.
If still failed, we can use DNS SRV lookup for _autodiscover._tcp.contoso.com, then “CAS01.contoso.com” returned. Outlook will ask permission from the user to continue
with AutoDiscover to post to https://CAS01.contoso.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
    Non-Domain-joined
It first tries to locate the Autodiscover service by looking up the SCP object in AD. However the client is unable to contact AD, it tries to locate
the Autodiscover service by using DNS.
Then, same as step b, c, d in
    Domain-joined scenario.
    6. How to change the AutoDiscover
    service location order forcibly?
By default, Outlook client locates AutoDiscover service in that order above.
We can also change the order forcibly.
    a.
If we want to locate AutoDiscover service via one of the autodiscover URLs, please running following command in EMS:
    Set-ClientAccessServer -identity <servername> -AutodiscoverServiceInternalUri https://autodiscover.contoso.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml(URL
    that you want)
    b. If we want to locate AutoDiscover service via
SRV record, please follows this KB to set up SRV:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940881
    7. How to check AutoDiscover Healthy
    a. We should make sure the AutoDiscover
is healthy before using AutoDiscover to perform troubleshooting.
    b.
We can browse following URL in IE explorer:
    https://autodiscover.vamwan.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
If it returns “code 600”, that means AutoDiscover is healthy.
    Screenshot as below:
    c. AutoDiscover itself returns errors to the requesting client if the incoming request does not contain the appropriate information to complete a
    request.
The following table explains the possible errors that could be returned.
    Error   Value
    Description
    600
Mailbox not found and a   referral could not be generated.
    601
Address supplied is not   a mailbox. The provided email address is not something a client can connect to.   It could
be a group or public folder.
    602
    Active Directory error.
    603
    Others.
The 600 “Invalid Request” error is returned because a user name was not passed to the service. That is OK for this test because this does confirm
the service is running and accepting requests.
    d.
If AutoDiscover service is not working well, I suggest re-building the AutoDiscover Virtual Directory for testing.
    Steps as below:
    1) Running following command in EMS to remove the AutoDiscover VD (we cannot delete it via EMC):
    Remove-AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory -Identity "CAS01\autodiscover(autodiscover.contoso.com)"
    Please refer:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124113(v=exchg.141).aspx
    2)
Running following command in EMS to verify whether we have removed the AutoDisocver VD successfully:
    Get-AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory | FL
    Please refer:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996819(v=exchg.141).aspx
    3)
Running following command in EMS to re-creating a new AutoDiscover VD:
    New-AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory -Websitename <websitename> -BasicAuthentication:$true -WindowsAuthentication:$true
    Please refer:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996418(v=exchg.141).aspx
    8. Common issues
    a. Outlook Disconnection
    Issue and Troubleshooting
    Issue:
Sometimes the Outlook clients cannot connect to the Exchange server after migrating to a new Exchange server or changing to new CAS. The Outlook clients
always connect to the old CAS server.
    Troubleshooting:
To solve this issue, we should change the SCP via following command:
    Set-ClientAccessServer -Identity
    <var>CAS_Server_Name</var> -AutodiscoverServiceInternalUri
    https://mail.contoso.com(newCAS’FQDN)/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
    b. Autodiscover
    Certificate issue
    Tips on Certificate:
Exchange requires a certificate to run an SSL protocol such as HTTPS. We can use the certificate that supports subject alternate names (SAN) in Exchange.
This is to allow the certificate to support resources that have different names, such as Outlook Anywhere and the Autodisocver Web application.
    Issue and Troubleshooting
    Issue:
We receiver the Certificate Principal Mismatch error when we use a SAN certificate.
    Troubleshooting:
    1) Please determine the FQDN that the client
uses to access the resource. Steps as below:
    OutlookàToolsàAccount
    SettingsàE-mailàclick
    the Exchange accountàChangeàMore
    SettingsàConnectionàExchange
Proxy Settingsànote the FQND that list in the
Only connect to proxy servers that have this principal name in their certificate box.
    2)
Please using EMS to determine the value for the CerPrincipalName attribute: Get-OutlookProvider
This command returns the result for the EXPR name.
    3)
Please re-setting the CertPrincipalName attribute to match the FQDN via following command:
Set-OutlookProvider EXPR –CertPrincipalName: “msstd:<FQDN the certificate is issued to>”

  • Exchange 2010 Export Mailbox to PST using only .EDB file

I have Exchange 2010 SP2 Update Rollup 4, SBS 2011 (which is similar to Server 2008 R2). I have recently recovered from a server crash due to a faulty RAID controller and need to recover some e-mail (and possibly contacts) from a couple of mailboxes.
My main concern is that my old .edb file is in a old forest that is different than my current forest. Due to the length of the old internal domain name having more than 15 characters (I previously migrated using a answer file) and my current internal
domain name is 15 characters.local they are different.
I also dont have the log files or STM file
With the two internal domain names being different will I still be able to follow this related topic:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/zh/exchange2010/thread/8f4eb425-72ff-4d18-abfc-5c00be7113e2
If not please let me know which direction I should be going. I know there are third part tools that can get this done but not in the budget right now.
    Teron

    Hi,Teron,
Cross forest export mailbox is not possible,if you have the old forest server still running you can export the mailbox in the old forest to PST file then import the pst file to your current forest.
Otherwise you should convert the edb file to PST with thirdparty tool as the above guys said.
Some additional information just for your reference.

  • Exchange 2010 - Export a list of delegates for a given group of users

I am trying to export a list of delegates on a list of mailboxes in Exchange 2010, and cannot get it to work.  This is the most promising one I'm working with.
    $list = import-csv c:\day1.csv
    $list | foreach-object {get-mailbox -ResultSize unlimited |
      get-CalendarProcessing |
      select identity -expand ResourceDelegates |
      select @{n="Name"; e={$_.identity.Name}}, @{n="ResourceDelegates"; e={$_.Name}}} |
      export-CSV c:\delegates.csv -NoTypeInformation
I keep seeing the following error:
Cannot open mailbox /o=Organization/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Configuration/cn=Servers/cn=SERVER/cn=Microsoft System Attendant.

Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong here?

    $list = import-csv c:\day1.csv
    $list | foreach-object {get-mailbox -ResultSize unlimited
I suspect the issue occurs here. You are importing user mail box list and then why are you using -ResultSize parameter? remove it and try
    $list = import-csv c:\day1.csv
    $list | foreach-object {get-mailbox -Identity $_ | get-CalendarProcessing |
    select @{n="Name"; e={$_.identity.Name}}, @{n="ResourceDelegates"; e={$_.Name}}} |
    export-CSV c:\delegates.csv -NoTypeInformation

  • Exchange 2010 Server not receiving External Mail

    Hi everyone,
I have an Exchange 2010 Server which is connected to an edge server.
Suddenly yesterday all the exchange users on this network stop receiving inbound Emails.
Sending and receiving internal emails still works and even sending outbound emails.
I try to restart the server to see if this could have solved the problem but unfortunately it didnt work.
I dont know much about exchange and would be grateful is someone could offer a solution.
    Thank
    Breon

    Hi,
Agree with v_2udan. And I just want to make a supplement to him.
    1.
The external Domain Name System (DNS) servers for your domain must have mail exchanger (MX) resource records pointing to your
mail servers, or, if you are using an Internet service provider (ISP) or an external system, this external system must have an MX record for your domain and a mechanism to forward mail to your Exchange servers.
    2.
External servers must be able to access 25 port of you Exchange server on the internet. It can’t be blocked by firewall
    or other networking settings.
    3.
On Receive Connector, Anonymous users should be selected in Permission Groups.
    4.   Since
you have Edge server, you can re-subscribe the Edge server.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

  • B size) to mail or thumb drive the file is exported to about 560 KB not the original 5.6 MB, what am I doing wrong? thanks

Currently using Aperture ver 3.1.1, when exporting files (5.6 MB size) to email or to thumb drive the file received by email recipent is about 560KB and worthless in size to them.  What am I doing wrong?  thanks
    Hutch

I think, what Kirby meant, is this:
When you are exporting your images with "File > Share < Email", you should see a pop up menu in the upper right corner of the window that lets you chose the file size:
What are your settings there? You should pick "Actual size", if the Mail server will let you send 5 MB files. Quite often the limit is 2 or 3 MB.
Is "Mail.app" the Mils client you are usimng, or are using a different mailer?

  • IPhone with Exchange 2010 account. Add "unread mail" folder?

    Hi,
Is there any way to make search folders appear (like unread mail) in the Mail app in iOS using our corporate exchange account?
If not are there any alternatives?
    Thank you,
    C.L.

Unread is a smart folder so no. But you can create a rule to move all new emails to your own "unread folder" you have to create. Just create a rule where you are in the To or CC of any email. Then either send a copy to that folder or all mail to the folder. This will give you an easy way to find the email, but creates duplicates in your Outlook Unread folder. Kind of a pain but gets the emails on your phone into the same area. Hope this helps.

  • Can I migrate users from a hosted Exchange 2010 to Office 365 Enterprise E1 without the need of third party software?

I am hoping I am posting to the correct forum.  We are currently using a hosted Exchange 2010 service through Intermedia and due to continuing issues with them and the pricing, we are getting ready to migrate to Microsoft’s Office 365 Enterprise
E1 platform.  My question is this, besides the fact that we will need to set up ADFS for SSO, will I be able to migrate our existing mailboxes from Intermedia to Office 365 without having to purchase additional software?
The current configuration we have with Intermedia allows for us to use OWA and our OST files for our current users are cached locally on the workstations.
We also do not have any public folders in use.  I have searched the web, but I have not been able to find a definitive answer or steps that I should take to prepare for this type of migration.
Any suggestions on this matter would be appreciated.  Thank you.

It looks as I should be able to from reading that article.  Not sure why the company that want to set this all up for me wanted $12,000 for something I can do with 6 steps.
    Thank you

  • Exchange 2010.SP3: Spam in Outbound Mail Queue (mail.que) - How can this be prevented?

I have been suffering from SPAM being generated from a series of sources (this looks internally generated):

Why are these messages being generated? I know these are NDR's.
What can I do about it? Already checked the Recipient filtering is enabled and refreshed it.
I have already cleared down the mail.que file and checked that the Endpoint Protection is in place and up to date.
The anti-spam option is enabled on the Hub Transport of the Organisational Configuration.
This has led to Backscatter.org blacklisting the IP address.
What else can I do about this situation as I have used all Microsoft KB and TechNet solutions to no avail?
    Thanks
