Export Image Maps

Hello,
I am using Dreamweaver 8 and was wondering if there is a way
to export an image map coordinates only with the part number
associated (link#)? I have a program that needs to be able to
import coordinates without the html?

Exporting image maps, no option to save HTML

Hi All,
I'm trying to export an image map from Illustrator CS6. However I can't get it to save the HTML.
I've setup my hotspots etc. However when I do "Save for Web", there is no option to save "Images & HTML". It only gives me the option of "Image Only".
The only way I've been able to get the HTML is to click on "Preview" from the "Save for Web" screen, and then copy and paste the image map code from there.
I've also tested it with slices, and same thing. There just seems to be no way to get it to generate a HTML file.
Am I missing something? Is there some other way I'm supposed to get it to create the HTML?

That's weird that they would simply remove the output option, but still allow URL's to be linked to an object.
Anyway thanks for the response. I've just done some hunting around in Fireworks and figured out how to link hotspots to the Illustrator objects, and output the HTML image map. Problem sorted

How to export an image map as polygons?

Hoping someone can help with this as im having no luck with google.
I have a shape and in the attributes i have set the image map as polygon and put in a url
I export this in jpg format and it generates a jpg and html file. however, the HTML file is only showing rectangle.

I would have expected this choosing rectangle for the image map.
I am trying to export polygon coordinates.
Does any one know why this is not working and what i have missed?

This was posted before and I tried it myself but when I exported the polygon shape image map it exported properly.
In the attributes you must choose polygon as the option it is not good enough just to have the shape a polygon.
Perhaps the problem might be connected to the document color space was the document the default CMYK or was it a we document from the start?
But what I always do is make a slice of the art or the artboard and save for the web as a jpeg and include the html.

Image Maps link not working in Acrobat 8 3D PDFs generated from RoboHelp 7

All of my hyperlinks work when I just generated my RoboHelp
project to PDF using RoboHelp 7 with the new Adobe Technical
Communications Suite (with Acrobat 8 3D). However, the links to
topics within the document didn't maintain from the image maps. I
had originally created flowcharts in Microsoft Visio, exported then
as .gifs, and imported them into topics in RoboHelp X5. Then I
created image maps from the boxes to topics in the RoboHelp
project. When I converted my project to RoboHelp 7 and generated
the PDF, all the links work great, except I don't get the
finger-pointing cursor when I hover over the boxes in the
flowcharts like I do with regular hyperlinks. Can someone please
tell me why? Thanks!

Image maps error with IE 6

Hallo!
I have a problem with Internet Explorer 6 (Windows XP) and only 2 image maps with rollovers on a page with a total of 6 image maps.
This is the page:

Everything is OK on Mac OS X (Safari and Firefox) and IE 7 on Windows XP and Vista.
ONLY the 2 image maps named "ART FOR SALE" and "CONTACT" do not work with IE 6.
This is my workflow:
- Page design in Photoshop.
- Slices, image maps, rollovers and remote rollovers with ImageReady
- Save html page and images folder from ImageReady
- Import html page and images folder in Golive CS
- Check and correct ALL the links in the image-map code generated with ImageReady
- Export site from Golive (with Flatten Script Library) and FTP transfer on Unix server.
I suspect that the image-map code is not FULLY loaded by IE6 and for this reason only 2 image maps on the page do not works.
Any suggestion will be very appreciated.

Can I use Bridge to export image data into a .txt file?

I have a folder of images and I would like to export the File Name, Resolution, Dimensions and Color Mode for each file into one text file. Can I use Bridge to export image data into a .txt file?

How do I update/edit/change an image map in Fireworks CS4 or CS5?

Hi,
I've created an imagemap in Fw CS4, exported the image + html file, and it works ok.
1. I closed Fireworks, then ran it again and re-opened the exported PNG, and could see the hotspots, and could edit/update/add/remove them.
2. I closed Firewoks again, then moved the exported .png image (the original was a PNG as well) and html file to a different folder.
Problem: When I open the (exported) image, I can no longer edit the hotspots. The image map still works (in a browser), however.
Doesn't the HTML file define the hotspots? How do I update or edit an image map in Fireworks? Do I need to re-import the HTML file somehow? Fw help isn't very helpful on this topic.
I've also found that Fw seems to change the PNG when exporting it. Is it adding some kind of metadata to the exported PNG?
I've made sure the "Show slices and hotspots" button is on. This is really puzzling!
Environment: Windows XP SP3, Fireworks 10.03.011

I think I understand what's happened, and yes, I've overwritten my original PNG
sigh. Fireworks doesn't really make this obvious!
That renaming tip is great! We already have a process for making PNGs of marked-up PDFs (so the extension is .pdf.png), so this will fit in just nicely!

Image Map percentage in FW CS6

Hi,
I would like to create Image Map from Fireworks, but instead of pixels, is it possible to use percentage ?
I use FW CS6, so I assume this option has been made available already ?
Otherwise, in a general manner, is it possible to use percentage at all in an HTML export ?

This sounds like the same problem that I have recently been having with FW CS5:
If I try to edit an exiting text entry, the program allows it -- but as soon as I move the cursor out of the text area, it reverts back to the original, saying that the 'file is locked'.
I also get an error message saying an "internal error" has taken place in the program. Then, when I close the program, I get the following error message:
I have been using this version of FW for several years (it's an authentic, registered copy), but the problem began in just the last few weeks. The only changes that I've made to my system in the last little while are the regular WIndows 7 updates. (Could there be a connection?)
I've tried reinstalling the program, but the problem is still there.
If you find how to solve your problem, can you post how you fixed it?

Global change for hotspots on image map

The image underneath my hotspots needed to be changed in
Photoshop. It's on all of the pages, and when the image was
replaced in Dreamweaver, I noticed that all of the hotspots that I
created manually in Dreamweaver were lost. How can I create
hotspots on just one of the pages and have it apply to all of the
pages? (I'm not using templates, by the way.)
I created slices on the image in Image ready, then exported
images and html, but I'm not sure how to incorporate and organize
everything in Dreamweaver.

Thats the way the web works, its an accessibility feature, as

you can tab around the page and see where the links are. Look

CS4 will not create poly areas in image maps

How do I create an image map which will contain polygonal areas? I've selected my shape and chosen "polygonal" in the Attributes palette and then given it a URL. When I create an image map from the file, all my map areas (in the HTML) are "rect" (rectangles), which is not what I want. Can someone talk me through how to create a polygonal image map area which successfully gets exported into the HTML?

I am not an expert at this but I just created a polygon shape over a rectangle selected the polygon shape and added the url in the image map url field.
then I used the slice to to make the rectangle a slice and then selected the polygon shape and made that a slice and exported as jpeg from the Save for Web and Device as both html and image in the jpeg format.
all seemed to work the rectangle and the polygon are the same color so you can not see the shape but only the polygon shape seems selectable.
I just changed the color and it does only make the polygon shape selectable

so let me see if I can summerazie what I did.
I made a rectangle then I made a polygon shape over it. I selected the polygon and gave it the image map attribute with the url
and save the file, I then sliced the art first selecting the rectangle and clicking on the rectangle with the slice tool then select the polygon and clicked on that with the slice tool as well and save for the web as jpeg with image and html as the option.
S that is what i did and it seems to work fine.

Can Acrobat XI convert an HTML file that contains an image map?

An HTML page I have has a complex image map with many links. It works fine in HTML but in converting it to PDF in Acrobat 11, only the top row of links in the map work. Clicking vertically below one of these links activate the link at the top but not the intended one.
I found this about creating an image map http://tinyurl.com/c6sonnj but do not understand the reference to Scene 7.

Only via the Print Dialog's Save As Adobe PDF Workflow. However, Pages has it's own export to PDF that works wonderfully and saves hyperlinks.

Exporting Images to a folder on the hard drive

I used to be able to export images to a selected folder on my hard-drive without having to identify the folder for every image.
Now when I export I need to select the folder on my hard-drive for each image even thought I'm going to process 50+ images for that folder.
What is wrong & how can i fix it?
Can anyone help?
I'm using Lightroom 5.

I just tried it again and it seems to be working....
If it happens again, will use export with previous.
I was exporting the normal way through the library but my sub-folder was on my hard-drive.

Exporting Images and Clipping Paths

I ran into a problem exporting images the was previously reported by Ruvan Fernando on Jan 25, 2006, but nobody had responded, so I'm trying again...
I'm using the SDK to open images and then save them back out with different colorspaces, resolution, etc. When I have an image that has a clipping path in it, when it's saved, the clipping path is missing.
I am copying all the source image attributes to the destination image attributes.
Any help would be appreciated.

I tried dragging it, and it gave the original version.
At Share there are; Print, Email, Desktop, HomePage, .Mac Slides, Order prints, Send to iDVD, Burn Disk, Export
I tried Desktop and it put the current image do my wallpaper.

Help with exporting images

I have recently shot a wedding with two bodies. Forgot to sync the bodies before hand and so left with images at massively different times. in lightroom i then changed to view by capture time and amended all the wrongly timed images. i am then left with all images in order and looking as i want. I then put them in a catalogue and a collection to be on the safe side and exported both. Whatever i do i see the exported images in my pictures in the same order they were in before i changed the capture time. i have tried to research this until im sick of it. I just cant figure out what is going wrong. Just tried to save to dvd instead and saved but again in the order pre correction? please help

Hi did that this morning . I'm viewing in the exported named file in a
folder on the mac ... I've tried re naming , sort by capture time but the
minute I export , the exported file looks just the same as before I made
the capute time amendments .
