Exported Word files set off virus alerts for Windows users.

Work for a communications agency. Many of us prefer to write our copy in Pages, then export to Word files when sending over to clients to review. But, our exported "Word" files set off all our clients virus alerts like clockwork. Is there any way to prevent this besides exporting to RTF or PDF?
I've been told that Pages files exported out to Word files contain benign "macros" under the hood. And that virus alert programs on the Windows side see these macros (however harmless they are) and warn the user to not open, or trash the files.
This is causing hardship for us wanting to switch over to using Pages full-time. To our clients, it makes it seem as if we are careless, or are sending them files with viruses all the time.

As far as I know, there is no macro in files created by the Pages export process.
I'm on the Pages forums since two years and never read any message about such a behavior.
My guess is that the problem is not in Pages.
Maybe you are using the same anti-virus than my brother.
It rejects all jpegs claiming that they have a virus embedded

    Hi,
    Our school have a mac file server for sharing all the teachers' source.
    The problem is that when I login with my account in windows, some folders are invisible but when I login in Mac folders are visible.
    All the protocols are running well, AFP, FTP, MySQL, SMB and Web.
    Any suggestions are appreciated!

  • Can i turn off email alerts for find my iphone

    How do you turn off email alerts for find my iphone?

    There is no way to turn it off, just reduce it. It is a new security feature. It depends on where you are logging in that is generating the email. If you are logging in from a computer browser, if you have cookies on, it should not generate the email except for the first time that you use that device. If it is from logging in to the Find My iPhone app on the iPhone or iPad, if you have a passcode lock set on the device, it will not generate the email, as you will not be logged out of the app on the phone. You just use the home button to get past the app and it stays logged in by not tracking. You open the app again and it will just take you right in without having the log in and will refresh itself.

    What I read in the PDF version of the manual (while I was waiting for my plane this afternoon), it seems pretty comprehensive. I was particularly interested in what it had to say about creating your own templates.
    Supposedly, it will remember if I left invisibles showing in templates (one of my big complaints with Pages 1). I'll find out soon enough. I must say that opening my two documents I use for answering posts here in discussions sure did open faster & navigating an 11-page table was much faster.
    Another good thing I noticed, the font used for the serial number is much clearer & there were no confusing characters - O/0, S/5, etc.

    No. This is NOT true. I've been battling with this for a couple hours.
    I choose Export>Versions
    choose
    Subfolder Format: Project Name
    no custom subfolder
    Name Format: Current Version Name.
    Aperture creates project folders for each image and names them Projects1, Projects2, Projects3 etc.
    To be sure, I have no project named Projects
    x
    This particular Aperture library has 16 projects. you can see in the screen grab it's created more than 30 folders
    If I uncheck the Subfolder, that is say NONE, I just get images and images and images, not in their project folders (of course, because I've said NONE, so why would it put them in project folders?)
    I just want to export the entire library and have the versions placed in folders named by the projects from which they came.... ez enough, no?

  • Alerts For 'Uninvited' Users Outlook 2010

    Hi, one of our teams uses a shared Outlook calendar for tracking changes to systems (kind of a change diary), and would like for alerts for this shared calendar to notify them of upcoming changes. However because this calendar has other teams adding to it,
    they may not know about these appointments. Is there a setting somewhere where the team (or a specified DL) can be notified via an alert/reminder without having to add each member of the team into the calendar appointment?
    Please let me know if you need any additional info.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    What’s your Shared Outlook Calendar? Do you mean it is a Calendar for a shared mailbox?
    Generally, if the user directly creates items in the shared calendar without sending out any invitations, there would be no reminders or alerts for other users or attendees.
    Personal suggestion, we can try the following method as a workaround:
    1. Give a user (Winnie) mailbox full access permission to shared mailbox:
    Add-MailboxPermission -Identity SharedMailbox -User Winnie -AccessRights FullAccess
    2. Setup a new Outlook profile for Shared mailbox with Winnie’s account information (name and password).
    3. In the shared mailbox Outlook profile, set delegates for it: Click File > Account Settings > Delegate Access. Add security groups (Team1 and Team2) as delegate and give them
    Editor calendar permissions and check “Delegate receive copies of meeting-related messages send to me”.
    4. Click OK to finish the settings.
    Then if any user sends a meeting request to Shared mailbox, the request would also be forwarded to the members in Team1 and Team2. Please note the following points:
    1. Please send meeting requests to the shared calendar instead of directly creating items on it.
    2. Disadvantage 1: All team members can receive copies of meeting-related messages but every member can approve (Accepted or Declined) for this meeting request.
    3. Disadvantage 2: The team member can receive the meeting copies once there is any user sending a request to shared calendar. But there is no Reminder popped-up automatically before the meeting happening.

  • Setting Application Context Attributes for Enterprise Users Based on Roles

    Hello,
    We have an Oracle 11g database with a table containing data from multiple sites (a SiteID field identifies the site for a record). Since application users can have access to different subsets of sites, we would like to use Oracle's Virtual Private Database feature to enforce row-level security on the table.
    I did a successful proof-of-concept with database users. I created a role for each site (example: USER_SITE_A, USER_SITE_B, ...), and then assigned the appropriate site roles to each database user. I then created a package (run via a logon trigger) which set application context attributes for each site. If the current database user has been assigned a role for a given site, then the corresponding attribute named "SITE_PRIVILEGE_SiteID" is set to 'Y'... otherwise, it is set to 'N'. Here is the code which worked to set application context attributes for database users:
    -- For each record in my RoleSitePrivileges table, set
    --   an attribute named 'SITE_PRIVILEGE_<SiteID>'.
    --   If the current user has been assigned a role matching
    --   the value in the 'RoleName' field, set the corresponding
    --   attribute to 'Y'... otherwise, set it to 'N'.
    FOR iPrivRec IN (SELECT RoleName, SiteID
                       FROM RoleSitePrivileges
                       ORDER BY SiteID)
       LOOP
          SELECT COUNT(*)
            INTO roleExists
            FROM dba_role_privs
            WHERE granted_role = UPPER(iPrivRec.RoleName)
              AND grantee = USER;
          IF roleExists > 0 THEN
             DBMS_SESSION.set_context(
                         namespace   => 'my_ctx',
                         attribute   => 'SITE_PRIVILEGE_' || iPrivRec.SiteID,
                         value       => 'Y');
          ELSE
             DBMS_SESSION.set_context(
                         namespace   => 'my_ctx',
                         attribute   => 'SITE_PRIVILEGE_' || iPrivRec.SiteID,
                         value       => 'N');
          END IF;
       END LOOP;To finish things off, I created a security policy function for the table which returns the following:
    RETURN 'SiteID IN (SELECT TO_NUMBER(SUBSTR(attribute, 15))
                         FROM session_context
                         WHERE attribute LIKE ''SITE_PRIVILEGE_%''
                            AND value = ''Y'')';This setup worked great for database users. I am now working to do a comparable proof-of-concept for enterprise users created in Oracle Internet Directory (OiD). I have Enterprise User Security (EUS) up and running with OiD, global roles created in the database, enterprise roles defined in EUS with global role assignments, and enterprise roles assigned to OiD users. The enterprise users are able to successfully login to the database, and I can see the appropriate global role assignments when I query the session_roles view.
    I tried using the same application context package, logon trigger, and security policy function with the enterprise users that I had used with the database users. Unfortunately, I found that the application context attributes are not being set correctly. As you can see from the code above, the applicaiton context package was referencing the dba_role_privs view. Apparently, although this view is populated for database users, it is not populated for enterprise users.
    I tried changing the application context package to use invoker's rights and to query the session_roles view instead of the dba_role_privs view. Although this package sets the attributes correctly when called manually, it does not work when called from the logon trigger. That was an oops on my part, as I didn't realize initially that a PL/SQL procedure cannot be called with invoker's rights from a trigger.
    So, I am now wondering, is there another view that I could use in code called from a logon trigger to access the roles assigned to the enterprise user ? If not, is there a better way for me to approach this problem? From a maintenance standpoint, I like the idea of controlling site access from the LDAP directory service via role assignments. But, I am open to other ideas as well.
    Thank you!

  • How can I set up my Mac for two users to share photos, music etc

    How can I set up my Mac for two users to share photos, music etc?

    On the Mac with the libraries you want to share:
    iTunes Preferences click on the Sharing tab and put a tick in 'Share by library on local network'.
    iPhoto Preferences click on Sharing and put a tick against 'Share my photos'.
    When launching the same apps on other Macs on the network the libraries should be available, listed on the left.

  • Set a default layout for all users via DIAPI

    Hello everyone,
    I am attempting to set a default report for all users/business partners using the DI-API.
    I can accomplish this in the B1 application via Tools> Layout Designer...>Set as Default
    If there are entries in the RDFL table for this layout, I am prompted to delete these entries and set this layout as the default for all users/BP's
    Based on the SDK Documentation, the following code should accomplish the same thing via the DI-API
    (stripped down for clarity)
    Dim oDefaultReportParams As DefaultReportParams
    oDefaultReportParams = oLayoutService.GetDataInterface(ReportLayoutsServiceDataInterfaces.rlsdiDefaultReportParams)
    oDefaultReportParams.LayoutCode = sMyLayoutCode
    oDefaultReportParams.ReportCode = sMyReportCode
    Me.oLayoutService.SetDefaultReport(oDefaultReportParams)
    Code executes fine, but it doesn't have the expected impact on settings.  The above code adds an entry to the RDFL table rather than changing the DfltReport field in the RTYP table like I expected, so instead of setting the default report globally for all bps/users, its adding an entry to the RDFL table to set the value for a specific user/bp
    I experimented by including and setting the following properties to every combination I could think of with the same results
            oDefaultReportParams.UserID = 'tried 1, 0, -1
            oDefaultReportParams.CardCode = 'tried "", "0", "-1"
    Am I misunderstanding the API, or using the wrong objects/calls...? If all else fails I could accomplish this via the UI-API instead, but the application was intended to be a stand alone app that didn't rely on SAP B1 application running, so any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!
