Exporting from Fireworks to Dreamweaver
Hey guys/gals I have a problem. I have posted two previous posts, and got some really helpful answers. I am basically done with my website (I just need to make text boxes editable, put some more links) and that is it. By the looks of it, all of this can be done in dreamweaver.
I have exported all of my work from FW to DW using html and images and exported all of my slices. However, I am unable to edit anything in DW.
Is there a better and easier way of exporting from FW to DW? Can anyone give me any tips as how to do this and get my website up and running live on the internet? (I have a hosting company already with a temporary design which I don't like, which is why I am creating my own website)
Thanks in advance to those that help.
Hate to say it Linda, but I didn't. The first section was helpful, but going to find the second section where the real information seemed to be - I could not find. It's probably in plain sight, but... I find web pages hard to read - what is logical to everyone else makes no sense to me.
Imagine what kind of website I'm going to make some day.

I deleted the wrapper and everything in my code. Please help me. Please

Stange Button Problems when Exporting From Fireworks
Firstly Thanks for the help from others regarding the Button
Issues that I have been having.
I have created a button with pop up menu in Fireworks , I
preview the button and the preview in fireworks shows an outline of
the Pop up menu in excatly the correct position , however when I
insert the Fireworks HTML into a Table in Dreamweaver and preview
it in IE the table jumps up to the top of the button , I have tried
moving the startup position in Fireworks then exporting again , but
the problem is still there. Beneath the Button in the table after
inserting Dreamweaver adds what looks like a golden shield / anchor
with my pop up menu descriptions , I guess this is the pop up menu
descriptions , is this what is causing the problem.?.
I have attached the HTML code for those experts I know lurk
on this forum.
Getting very frustarted now.!.I am so close to getting the
Pop up bar menu done , and people on here said it does not work ,
once this fix is complete I am ready.
Hope someone can help me.

Going from Fireworks to Dreamweaver.....
I have taken a couple of courses on Lynda.com (Fireworks Essential Training and Fireworks Rapid Prototyping). I am confused when I export a website, and open it in Dreamweaver. I have a fairly good grasp of Dreamweaver, yet I am perplexed when I see what Fireworks creates after an export. The entire site is made up of numerous images that line up in a table. All the text is flattened into these images. Since there is no text, I imagine the website is basically unsearchable AND you cannot make a simple change to the text without exporting every graphic and .html page again. It seems that Fireworks wants you to abandon the whole concept of CSS altogether. I have designed many sites using table layouts (Dreamweaver) and graphics(Photoshop). I was hoping that Fireworks would make it a whole lot easier. I get the impression that Fireworks is ONLY for a rough layout, but shouldn't be used for creating a web site. If this is so, why bother? Am I missing something?
Any suggestions would be grately appreciated.
Thank you.HTML and Images export should only be used for creating an interactive, high fidelity prototype, NOT a final web site. Your options in CS4 and CS5 are to export as CSS and Images. It's by no means a perfect solution, but it will get you closer to a true, html and css-based page design.
Fireworks is NOT for creating a web site. It was never designed to do that. That's Dreamweaver's job. FW was created to prototype, visualize and design that site quickly and optimize the image objects appropriately for use in the final web or mobile project.
Recent additions to Fireworks CS5 such as the CSS3 Mobile Pack (available on Adobe Labs for free) help the designer to generate CSS based mark up of common CSS3 effects such as rounded rectangles, gradient fills, drop shadows, glows, text styles as well as giving you the ability to reskin jQuery mobile templates.

Best Strategy for Exporting Fireworks into Dreamweaver
I created a navigation bar in Fireworks and now I want to export it into Dreamweaver.
So I Went to Edit->Copy HTML Code (hotkey for this is Ctrl+Alt+C)
Now, what's the "best choice" from the dialog choices: AIR HTML, Dreamweaver HTML, Generic HTML, GoLive HTML, AIR XHTML, Dreamweaver XHTML, Generic XHTML or GoLive XHTML for a cross browser "professional" website?
I only tried the "Dreamweaver HTML Option" and itseemed to work nicely in my rookie opinion.
I think this technique might be at a performance cost to my graphic design or the website speed. So should I use a different strategy for exporting Fireworks to Dreamweaver? I have the CS5 package so can use any of those programs for support.
Thanks,INHO, the best way to export from Fireworks to Dreamweaver is to first define your site in Dreamweaver, and then export the Fireworks document to the assets folder. Place your cursor when you want the navbar to be on your HTML page and choose Insert > Image Objects > Fireworks HTML.

Frame Delay Going from Fireworks to Flash
Help,
I am completely new at this and under deadline.
I created a photoshop psd file with tweens, rendered to video, then uploaded as animation in fireworks.
In fireworks I set the frame delays to be what I want. I want to save as swf (don't know flash at all) and when I do the frame delays go out the windows. I looked at older forum posts and see that this is what happens but how can I make it happen some other way? I tried setting frame rates in the save as option window to 1 to 30 to whatever and no luck.
My tweens in the png file at 7/100 and my main images I want to appear longer are 350/100.
I am a novice at all this! Thanks for whatever help you can provide.Don't waste your time tinkering with the Fireworks-Flash export; Flash doesn't recognize frame delay the same way Fireworks does. The swf has one single playback speed for the entire project (perhaps the biggest limitation of Flash-based animations), hence the flash exported from Fireworks will lose the frame delay values of Fw, no matter what.
You might have better luck introducing fake frame delays into the swf using the Flash authoring environment. Below are two ways that show you how to do just that:
1. the movieclip approach
2. frame delay actionscript
Good luck!

Exporting from livecycle designer es8.2 to Dreamweaver, possible?
Hello everyone! I created a contact form in livecycle designer es 8.2. I am curious to know if it is possible to export the form to dreamweaver and embedd it in a website? Thanks
You can submit the form or the data via email but you will not be able to do it without the mail dialog opening up and having the user
click the send. This is for security reason.
You can however do an HTTP/HTTPs post and have the data or PDF submitted to a web server by having the user click a button.

Problems exporting rollover 'states' into Dreamweaver, and loss of font formats
Hi
I am quite new to Fireworks and am having a little difficulty with some aspects of it.
I am building a miltiple page site, and am exporting using the the 'export CSS and Images' option from Fireworks CS4 to Dreamweaver CS4.
I have applied some 'swap image behaviour' to the links on the Master Page.
However When I try to export to Dreamweaver I get the following message:
"Only sliced images from the current state will be included in this export. Hotspot and behaviour attributes will be ignored."
Obviously I want the states (swap image) functionality to be exported so that the javascript rollovers work. Any ideas how to resolve this?
Also, when I export the pages into Dreamweaver, I have noticed that the font formatting is lost e.g. <h1> format style etc So an orange <h1> font title, with black outline, will not retain that formatting in Dreamweaver (it actually renders as white, which is the same as the <p> font elements.). I do know how to alter the CSS to render a different colour in Dreamweaver: but its the character outline that I cannot reproduce by manipulating the CSS (I don't know how to anyway....).
Also, once a 'Master' page has been created, will all other pages within the document automatically inherit the functions and settings as per the Master Page. Or do I need to link each page to the Master Page in order for them to inherit its functionality and settings? I'm particuarly thinking about the states/rollover issue again here i.e. Will I need to set under/over states on each individual page or do I just need to set it once on the Master page?
Thanks for your help.Q1: There. Is no way to resolve this in Fireworks. You'll have to export the other states manually and build the rollovers in dreamweaver.
Q2: Again, *if* there us a widely supported CSS option fir text outlining you have tomanually apply it to the code in Dreamweaver.
Q3: Hyperlinks and graphics on the master page should be applied to all child pages.
Fireworks is not a true web page editor. Keep this in mind. It is a graphics tool fulirst and foremost. The CSS and HTML features are not nearly as robust as Dreamweaver. Hope this helps -
Rollover effects are lost when exported as Fireworks HTML
I created a simple graphic in Fireworks, which has a rollover
effect. The finished symbol was assigned a LINK, ALT and TARGET in
Fireworks, and exported as an .htm file. Every slice was selected
and saved in the IMAGES folder.
After I placed the htm file in Dreamweaver, I previewed it in
Safari and FireFox. It worked perfectly. After I uploaded it to the
Web Host, however, all effects were lost.
Here is the link:
http://www.jlwa.net
The effects are limited to the word "enter."
If anyone sees what I'm doing wrong, please let me know.
THANKS!quote:

Lorraine, thanks for your advice. I will do as you
recommended, and build the page in Dreamweaver. I have to tell you,
though, my experience has not been good doing the build in
Dreamweaver. Perhaps it is because I'm on a Mac...I don't
know...everytime I try that the finish result pulls apart at the
seams when viewed on a PC.
On this page, for example:
http://www.jlwa.net/projects.html,
the Accordion (when viewed on a PC) has horizontal gaps between
each of the Accordion's tabs, and all of the text, despite being
set at "left" justification, appears as if I centered it. I'm still
wrestling with this page to get it right.
Thanks again - Paul
Hmm. It looks okay in Chrome, but I see it pulls apart in IE
7. That is probably due to inconsistencies in CSS rendering between
the different browsers. Using Fireworks won't help you with that.
You're going to have to modify the CSS to account for browser
differences if you want it to address those little spaces. The CSS
for the Spry accordion element is very simple and I don't see any
hacks to get around the box model differences that I know people
use. You might ask on the Dreamweaver forum, but it certainly isn't
anything that Fireworks is going to fix for you.
Also, there are some other maintenance issues I see in your
page. Your navigation images are directly using the Fireworks
naming scheme, such as jlwa_main_r2_c2_f2.jpg. When you export your
images from Fireworks, give them good, reasonable names so that you
can maintain the code. You have a row of unnecessary spacer gifs in
your header. You should pull your CSS out into a separate file,
rather than having it embedded into each and every file. That way,
you only need to edit it in one place to have it take effect
everywhere. Give your styles meaningful names, too, descriptive of
their purpose. You have style1, style4, style5. If you want to edit
them, you don't even know what they are without digging into the
HTML code. -
Fireworks to Dreamweaver to insert addtional items
I have created a website in Fireworks and exported and inserted it into Dreamweaver to add the contact form and a flash video. My problem is that when I do this when I go to view in browser the form and video are in different spots. How do i get these items to stay where I want them. What is the best way to bring this information into dreamweaver from Fireworks...Export as HTML and Insert, copy and paste the code?
Okay. Without taking the time to really look at your code (so this is a big caveat), it looks like you are setting the position of your video and form absolutely with respect to the viewport-to the browser window. I have a widescreen monitor. If I do not have the browser window full screen, but I move the right or left side of my browser window, then the form or video stay in a constant position relative to the left side of the browser window, while the page itself will add or remove gutters (black background area) to either side to keep it centered in the browser window.
Hmm...yeah...it's probably the absolute positioning on the div apDiv1. What you want, instead, is to create a box (defined by a div) on your page, and then place your form or your video inside the box.
Try going through this tutorial: I think it's very good:
http://net.tutsplus.com/tutorials/html-css-techniques/design-and-code-your-first-website-i n-easy-to-understand-steps/
Fireworks is a graphics program, not an HTML authoring tool. The code it produces is good for prototypes, but isn't really up to snuff for live sites. You really need to tweak it to get something robust, and by the time you've sorted out what's what, it's usually faster to have built up from scratch in Dreamweaver (which is a powerful HTML authoring tool). -
Upload site from Fireworks ?
Hi,
This is probably a really dumb question, but I need to ask
it.
I have designed a site in Fireworks now I want to upload it
to my host can I do it straight from Fireworks or do I need to use
fireworks in conjunction with Dreamweaver. ?
What is the difference between Fireworks and Dreamweaver ?
Thanks in advance.

Fireworks was developed for creating images for the web, and
not entire
sites. Dreamweaver is an HTML editor, and the program you use
to build
Web pages and sites. The normal workflow is to export your
images from
Fireworks to your Dreamweaver site, and then use Dreamweaver
to add the
images to its pages.

Help With Fireworks and Dreamweaver
Hi,
I am a graphic designer wanting to expend mt skillset. Mainly because I am currently at a job day to day that requires minimal amount of web stuff. It would benefit me greatly to have the web skills too. Anyway, I am having trouble in fireworks and dreamweaver. Sometimes something gets handed to me and I can open it DW and edit th text, send it back and it is fine. ready to go. More recently, I have been asked to change some marginal issues, plus create some things from scratch. I naturally went to Fireworks to do my layouts. I need to understand the best way to create something in FW and export it so that the code is as complete as possible fro DW. I know it is not that simple, but the web work that I am doing fro right now is VERY simple stuff. i just dont know the basics to get it done. Please help.
ThanksFireworks is not a coding environment. Use Fireworks to design your layout and export your graphics. Use Dreamweaver to write the code to implement the design. The code that Fireworks can export is for creating prototypes with; it isn't intended for live sites.
If you want to expand your skill sets in the Web area, then that means learning HTML and CSS. You cannot get by on the exported code of a graphics program. Here are a couple of beginner tutorials:
http://articles.sitepoint.com/article/html-css-beginners-guide (Good)
http://net.tutsplus.com/tutorials/html-css-techniques/design-and-code-your-first-website-i n-easy-to-understand-steps/ (Excellent; the author uses Photoshop in this tutorial, but it can be done with Fireworks just as well.)
